Autos / World's Poorest President Official Car - 1987 Volkswagen Beetle by milestonejnr(m): 12:09pm On Sep 01, 2018
https://autojosh.com/worlds-poorest-president-official-car-1987-volkswagen-beetle-pictures/

Jose Mujica is the former president of Uruguay. He was sworn into office in the year 2010. Jose Mujica's lifestyle clearly differs sharply from that of most other world leaders.

This man was dubbed as the poorest president in the world in the year 2010.

He proclaimed his entire wealth amounted to his 1987 Volkswagen Beetle – he owned nothing else in his name. The ramshackle farm he lives on was in his wife's name.

Throughout the five years, the Beetle remained with Mujica who was often seen driving it.

He was earning about $11,000 a month as president, of which he donates 20 percent to his political movement.

He stepped down in 2015, continued with his modest living in a ramshackle farm. Not just that, he's donating 90 per cent of his salary away and promoting progressive social policies in Uruguay.

He has been getting offers for this his blue 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. He has since been offered $1 million for the car by an Arab Sheikh.

Car Talk / Don’t Overspeed With A Temporary Spare Tyre (donut). Find Out The Reason Why by milestonejnr(m): 8:55am On Aug 06, 2018
https://autojosh.com/dont-overspeed-with-a-temporary-spare-tyre-donut-find-out-the-reason-why/

Haven been a car guy and a driver for some years now, I have come to realize that speed intoxicates. When doing 120km/h, you would want to advance to 160km/h and then 180km/h and there you go; you’ll just feel like doing more.

Many times, we are tempted to explore a car we are driving to the fullest, most especially when behind the wheels of a speed machine like BMW X6M and Mercedes C63 AMG. Plying at such speed can be very risky to your life and people around you if care isn’t taken.

If you must drive at breathtaking speeds, there are lots of factors and safety tips you should adhere to at all times.

Back to why we wrote this post; over-speeding with a temporary spare tyre.

It is highly unsafe to over-speed with this temporary tyre.

Every trye comes with its corresponding speed limit and load ratings. Once you exceed that speed limit, the tyre is bound to blow out.
Over-speeding with a temporary spare tyre (donut), which is usually smaller than all other tyres, can be a death trap.
You are clearly advised not to exceed 70km/h because they were not built to cope with such high speeds.

If you fail to adhere to this; you might end up getting a blown tyre when on high speed. Losing control is the next thing that follows. I’m sure you know the next thing after that.

Be safe out there!

Car Talk / PMB Welcomed In Morocco With A Royal Procession In A Classic Mercedes Benz 600 by milestonejnr(m): 3:35pm On Jun 11, 2018

President Buhari is on a two-day working visit to Morocco.

According to a statement on Saturday by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, the visit, which is at the invitation of His Royal Majesty, King Mohammed VI, will see the two leaders discuss socio-economic matters affecting their countries

About the cars in the convoy

President Buhari with King Mohammed VI can be seen well balanced in a classic Mercedes Benz 600 tightly secured by somewhat aggressive BMW 500 series duo.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 is a high-end large luxury sedan and limousine produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1963 to 1981. Its few competitors included certain models of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the Cadillac Fleetwood 75, stretched Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson, and the Chrysler Imperial Crown Ghia.

After taking over the throne in 1999, King Mohammed VI of Morocco acquired this classic Mercedes Benz from his predecessor, his father.

The presisent went on the trip with the company of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State and other senior government officials.

Car Talk / 5 Things You Shouldn’t Do When Driving A Manual Car. by milestonejnr(m): 3:15pm On Oct 25, 2016
SOURCE: http://nolongtalk.com/driving-manual-wrongly-5-things-shouldnt-driving-manual-car/

As it stands now and with the current trend in car technology, majority of drivers will give you 1001 reasons why automatic cars are better than manual cars. However, there are different strokes for different folks; some petrol heads still stick to the good old manual transmission. They just want to be in control. I’m one of them.

You may have been unintentionally messing up your transmission with the way you handle it. Be it as it may, I’m here to help you in my own little way.

Relax, read, assimilate and put it to practice.

Here are 5 things you shouldn’t do if you drive manual transmission.

#1. Do not leave your car in gear when you have no intention to move.

You might be wondering why on earth you shouldn’t do this. It is very simple.

It is bad to do so because when you leave it engaged in a gear, your clutch will suffer from unnecessary wear and tear.

When the clutch is depressed, three main parts of the clutch press against the other – the spring, the bearing, and the diaphragm. This will gradually wear out.

So, next time you’re warming your car, at the stop light, have no intention of moving ASAP when the engine is cranked, just move the gear lever to the Neutral position in order not to overwork or stress your clutch.

#2. Do not rest you hand don the gear lever.

All those times you have been forming gangster, cruising your car with one arm on the steering and the other comfortably resting on the lever, you have been getting it all wrong.

This one is particularly a bit surprising, but it is true. It is bad.

The weight of your arm can actually cause the parts responsible for gear shifting to rub against each other. This wears out your selector fork (transaxle shift forks). This on the long run might make your car start jumping out of gear.

Do your gear shift and take back your hand back to the steering wheel. It is also a good driving habit to leave both hands on the wheel for proper control.

#3. Do not floor you throttle/gas pedal when your engine is at low RPM.

Behind the scene, a lot is happening in a manual transmission. Flooring your throttle at a low RPM is unhealthy to the engine. By so doing, you tell the engine to accelerate as hard as it can. This brings much stress to the engine; it makes the engine work really hard.

Instead of flooring the throttle at a very low RPM, just downshift – move to a lower gear.

#4. Do not use the clutch to hold your car on a hill.

I have heard many people call this ‘clutch engagement’. I don’t know how it came to be anyway.

This is the habit of using the clutch and throttle simultaneously so it could act as brake to avoid rolling back when in a hilly terrain.

When you do this, you are actually burning out the friction material on your clutch disk. Avoid this.

Use the conventional break and the handbrake (E-brake) in worst case scenarios.

#5. Do not rest your foot on the clutch.

This makes your clutch not to be fully engaged. It causes wearing out of the clutch. It might also cause you car not to putting down full engine power.

Good luck and shift safely!

Car Talk / Re: 5 PROBLEMS DUE TO LONGER ENGINE OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. (Photos) by milestonejnr(m): 1:28pm On Oct 08, 2016
orlaryhincah:
So how long do one have to change the engine oil often?

It varies for different cars. It also depends on the distance you cover with your car. For instance, a commercial vehicle used to ply long distance (Interstate) need its oil changed regularly unlike a private vehicle that is being driven just inside the city (Intercity)

Car Talk / 5 Frustrating Car Problems One Can Be Faced With by milestonejnr(m): 10:43pm On Oct 06, 2016
SOURCE: http://nolongtalk.com/5-frustrating-car-faults/

Every car owner is bound to experience one form of car fault or the other. The magnitude of these car faults vary; it can be mild faults, low cost faults, easily traced faults, catastrophic faults, frustrating faults etc.

In this post, we centered on "frustrating car faults". Some of these frustrating faults can cause great pains and embarrassment as the case may be. Imagine after a very stressful hour in your work place and you’re heading home under the hot sun and your car stalls and refuses to move again because of one fault or the other.

Some of these problems are not only frustrating; they can be dangerous on highways and on lonely roads at night if they should occur. In fact, they can stop you at the middle of nowhere. Some of these faults can be a huge struggle for some people in their finance since it will cost a huge sum of money to get fixed.

Below are the 5 frustrating car fault one can face (in no particular order)

#1. Cutting of timing belt:
This particular problem does not announce its impending arrival just like some other car faults would do. It just happens. This might occur at night in a place which might keep you stranded and/or get your car packed in an unsafe place.

The timing belt is not in a very accessible position in your car and may take a quite long time to loose and then replaced.

There are two types of engine timing configurations. The configuration used by a car determines if there would be negative after-effect when the timing belt gets cut. There are two valve configuration – Interference and non-interference configuration.

In an interference engine, the valve and piston share the same airspace and they never touch. They touch only when the timing belt cuts or skips. This is a catastrophic failure which requires removing the head and replacing belt valves.

Non-interference engine has no risk of contact of valve and piston even when the timing belt cuts or skips.

Be it as it may, either configuration can leave you stranded, so regular timing belt replacement is very important. Your timing belt should be replaced every 50,000-70,000 miles (refer to your owner’s manual and look up the maintenance schedule).

It is important you note that not all mechanics are good at changing timing belt. Proper changing and setting of timing belt needs professionals. So, be mindful of who carries this out for you.

#2. Ball joint and upper arm problem:
Ball joints are the spherical bearings that connects the control arm the steering knuckles. The problem arises when the ball joint of your vehicle pulls out. It stalls your car immediately they occur.

Here in Nigeria, this particular fault is very prominent in Honda especially Accord (End of discussion) and CR-V.

For those who are always faced with ball joint problem, it is advisable you change the ball joint once every two (2) years even when they give signs of such problems or not. Nigeria bad roads weaken the ball joint over time. I also advice you change the ball joint before rainy season and after rainy season if you ply flooded areas.

#3. Fuel pump problem:
Any car that runs on fuel will definitely stop whenever the fuel pump stops working. The function of the fuel pump is to take fuel from the fuel tank to the engine with the correct pressure.

When faced with fuel pump problem in your car, it cannot be easily replaced because it is always located inside the fuel tank, hence, cannot be easily accessed. This might require the towing of your car to mechanic workshop for repairs.

Fuel pumps might give some signs when faulty before the stop working totally. One of the best ways to know a failing fuel pump is when the car is moving at an accelerated speed, perhaps above 50 mph. The car starts jerking and after some times will go back to its normal regular performance. Fuel pump problem can also be noticed by extended cranking time of the engine. A failing or already dead fuel pump may cause you car engine not to start or accelerate.

Failed fuel pumps can be as a result of clogged fuel filter, driving on low fuel, broken wires etc.

#4. Overheating of the engine:
Overheating of a car engine can arise due to multiple causes. When a car starts to overheat, you have to pull over and allow the car to cool to an extent before you can continue your journey; else, it may cause damage to your engine.

Overheating might arise when there is leak in the cooling system of your car; leakage is regarded to be the most common cause of engine overheating. Another cause of this overheating is dirty, clogged or rusty radiator.

#5. Brake failure:
This car fault is very risky and it puts one in a situation when you have little or no control on how to get the car to halt. The story of the adrenaline rush you might get down your spine might not be finished in a day.

Brake failure can be a very frustrating experience for anybody especially inexperienced drivers or those who are new to the road.

There are several causes of brake failure. It includes: leakage in the brake system, overheated brake pads, moisture etc. In one of my post, I wrote on "What Should I Do when My Car brakes Fail?", you can read it here.

Car Talk / Re: How To Fix A Car That Doesn't Start (Photos) by milestonejnr(m): 6:22pm On Jul 12, 2016
Dumkele1:

Hi autos Bay... I have a question but it doesn't relate to your topic.. I need a little advice on opel cars. I have one I'd like to buy but was advised against it. Please do you know any peculiar problems about it, fuel consumption, maintenance, parts etc.. And btw an opel vestra/Astra and a Toyota 'big for nothing', which do u thing will be a better option...... Thanks

First of all, I'm personally skeptical about the opel. You need to see how terrible the brand look when ageing.

I advice you go for Toyota (big for nothing) for some of these reasons.

1.) it's fuel consumption is ok
2.) the spare parts are readily available.
3.) the car is reliable.
4.) you can easily get mechanics that can fix it's faults when the need arises.
5.) the car has space and can serve as a good family car
6.) it has a good resale value and they can easily be obtained.
7.) it's Toyota.

With all I have mentioned above, the car get its own wahala oo. Everything is just big about the car...hence the nickname 'big daddy'. big headlamp, big brake light, boring dashboard etc.

Just ask yourself. Why the hell do I wanna buy and opel... then make ur conclusion. I hope this helps.
Car Talk / What Should I Do When My Car Brakes Fail? by milestonejnr(m): 11:42pm On Jun 25, 2016
Stumbled upon this and found it worth sharing.

Car brake failure is a terrible thing to experience. I wish you do not experience such, but it will be a good thing to read this in order to know what to do in case of eventuality.

Before we go on, it’s good we know some basic things about the so called car braking system.

Braking system is one of the most essential system in a car. The system is capable of bring you to stall from breath-taking speeds. In simple terms, brakes are devices by means of artificial frictional resistance retard or stop the motion of a machine. The brakes enable the driver to slow down the vehicle in motion or to bring it to stop. Problem arises when you can’t achieve this again because of the brake malfunction.

You are speeding on a freeway and you notice that your car brakes are not functional again. Here are what you can do in such a situation.

Be very much aware that there will be hell of adrenaline rush in you body because of the situation at hand. But you should try as much as you can not to panic; you just have to calm down.

Firstly lift you foot off the accelerator (gas pedal, throttle).
Push the gear lever of the vehicle to N (Neutral). This applies for both manual and automatic transmission.
Keep on hand firmly on the the steering wheel and then the other hand on the hand brake.
Keep the hand brake button depressed and then gradually lift the hand brake (Do not lock the hand brake). Doing this will slow down the vehicle, and the slower the vehicle goes, the more you lift the hand brake. As  you are doing this, steer clear off the road onto the shoulder of the road.
You may also like to read: 6 Things Every Car Owner Should Always Bear in Mind

If your vehicle has a foot brake, you are going to have to lift your feet of the accelerator when you notice the brakes are no longer working.

Push the gear to neutral to disengage the gears and then steer to the shoulder of the road.

When vehicle slows down, press the foot brake in. This is going to bring the car to a hard stop.

When all these things are going on, ensure that you are on seat belt alongside your passengers because the hard stop will definitely cause all in the car to lean forward because of weight transfer.

Non functional brakes are caused by low brake fluids or faulty master master cylinder that controls the vehicle’s braking system.

I hope this helps. You can do well to use the comment box in case you have anything to contribute.

Romance / John Dumelo’s View On How To Treat Women by milestonejnr(m): 5:49pm On Jan 09, 2016
http://www.gistalive.com/2016/01/09/john-dumelos-view-on-how-to-treat-women/

The Ghanaian actor and humanitarian John Dumelo, today using his facebook account, gave some warm advice to guys on how to treat their woman. The 31 year old actor who is yet to marry wrote down these 17 tips so that other guys could learn.

Below is what he posted in his wall in Facebook. As written by him.

My view on how to treat women.

1.Don’t compare your wife to other women. You don’t know what their husbands are going through.

2. NEVER expose your wife’s weakness to your family or friends or run to them whenever you have issues. Problems are best solved between you and your woman.

3. Don’t think you are man so you can use intimidation, shout or violence to communicate your moods. Agreesive men don’t make a happy home.

4. Speak gently and calmly to your wife. Never raise your voice at her, it demeans her and shows you think she is stupid.

5. Do your responsibilities as man…don’t leave every to your woman.

6. Never blame your wife if she doesn’t take care of the home everyday. She is swamped with house work and helping you raise the kids.

7. Don’t be wasteful spending money on drinks, friends and extended family. The wife and children are your first responsibility.

8. S*ex is also important to women. Her pleasure should be considered before your own.

9. Never compare your wife to your ex-girlfriends. If you loved them so much why didn’t you marry them instead of your wife.

10. Never shout down your wife or challenge her in front of the children. The children are watching. They won’t listen and obey her too.

11. Tell your wife she’s beautiful even if you know she’s looking normal. Women love compliment.

12. Don’t forget that women also want attention and someone to share their thougts with. Never be too busy for your wife.

13. A prayerful man is a better equipped husband. Pray always for your wife and family. Don’t leave the prayers to your wife.

14.Treat your wife like a queen. Buy her gifts, take her shopping and once in a while, cook for her.

15.Please don’t forget your these anniversary dates. Wedding ,engagement, the first time you kissed. I beg you. These dates mean a lot to women. (Don’t ask me why). I also don’t know.

16. Your mother should not have the final say in your marriage. You married your wife, not you and your mother. Let her talk in her own husband’s house.

17.There are 5 days each month that you have to say “I’m sorry”, “yes baby” and “I love you” more than 7 times a day. That’s when she’s menstrating. ‪#‎jmelo‬

Guys in the house, I hope you all heard him right? Try to stick to his advise. You can do well by adding yours if you have any.

Don’t forget to share; sharing is fun.

Music/Radio / 15 Nigerian Songs That Rocked 2015 Real Hard by milestonejnr(m): 10:09pm On Jan 03, 2016
http://www.gistalive.com/2016/01/03/15-nigerian-songs-that-rocked-2015-real-hard/

Rumours have it that 2015 is dead and gone; we thank the lord for that. But there were Nigerian songs that rocked 2015 off its feeble feet. Even though we did well to “edge” 2015 off the way, it won’t be much of a crime to “reminisce” a little bit.

Let’s do a little throwback!

My happiness is that some of these songs are not just “wind and shake” songs, some of them are actually meaningful and didactic songs. Thanks to 2015.
So, in no particular order…

1} Duro by Tekno (Produced by DJ Coublon)

If there are people that need to thank God specially for 2015, then Tekno should be leading that posse.
Tekno has had singles like “Holiday” ft Davido, “Dance”, etc, but with “Duro” (and the follow up single “Wash”), he really struck the bull’s eye.
A love song we all danced to and are still dancing to. As a matter of fact, some people are dancing to “Duro” right now in the bar where I am typing this (Forgive my poor manners, drunk-typing, lol)
I know say Iyanya anywhere wey him dey go dey form Banky on top Tekno head, lol.
But believe it or not, “Duro” rocked 2015 crazy in Nigeria.

2} Karishika by Falz ft Phyno (Produced by Sess)

By the time Falz hit us with “Karishika”, he’s already stolen our hearts long ago with hits like “High Class”, ” Marry Me”, “Ello Bae”, etc. But Karishika stamped him more firmly as a 2015 A-list breakout.
The song is about girls who surreptitiously try to “suck” guys of their money and like the movie’s female character, “initiate a man into brotherhood of darkness”
The song worked for many Nigerians, not just because of the sententious nature of the song but also how Falz and Phyno leisurely rendered the song, gliding through the Sess-crafted beat with glee.
Because of the popularity the song was garnering, it even prompted a remix (this time with Show Dem Camp and M.I)
I don’t think we’ll forget Karishika in a hurry, no.

3} Ojuelegba by Wizkid (Produced by Legendary Beatz)

Though released in his “Ayo” album back in 2014, Ojuelegba rocked 2015 like hell. Its not everyday that your song tickle the fancy of the likes of Drake, Skepta, Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, a Kardashian, etc. In fact, I can bet my left hand that the song was one of the things that made Wiz get most of the foreign collaborations he got this year.
The song is a homilistic song were Wiz recounts his “hustling” days at Ojuelegba (in Lagos); many Nigerians can easily relate to this. Moreover, the beat is killing, thanks to Legendary lo shey beat!
Wiz really gave us a classic in “Ojuelegba”.

4} Local Rappers by Reminisce ft Olamide & Phyno (Produced by Tyrone)

“Lo lo lo lo, local rappers…”
We’ve lost count of how many times we chanted this.
Reminisce, Olamide and Phyno made a serious statement in the most jocular of ways; they wanted everybody to know that rapping in indigenous language now pays, even more than core English rapping does, hence, “Punchline o jawo no…punchline ada enye ego”
And the sampling of that Brenda Fassie’s song was so creative and gave the song an uptick.

5} Bobo by Olamide (Produced by Young John)

Olamide’s first single after the release of the joint album, “2 Kings” by Phyno and Olamide, and it was a mega hit.
Olamide sends out a “hustle hard” message to all the “bobos” out there…we must push that Ferrari o, lol.
The song also came with a fun dance step that I can swear you’ve tried…oya shakiti bobo!

6} Woju by Kiss Daniel (Produced by DJ Coublon)

Another person that must join Tekno in that posse is Kiss Daniel.
A hitherto unknown Kiss Daniel gave us a song about something obtainable in many Nigerian clubs, “No be you I carry come, but na you I go carry go…” that kind thing.
It is a feel good song that rocked 2015 so much that we couldn’t get enough of it.
And DJ Coublon really is the “upcoming” producer wey blow an “upcoming” artiste, lol.

7} My Woman, My Everything by Patoranking ft Wande Coal (Produced by DJ Breezy)

Pato bought every single unbeliever over with “Girlie O” back in 2014. And even though “My Woman, My Everything” might not be as big as “Girlie O”, we can’t deny the fact that Pato and WCeezy rocked us real hard with this single. We all sang and danced to it in 2015 with all gayness…and hopefully, we’ll keep doing it this year.

8} Efejoku by Lil Kesh ft Viktoh (Produced by Young John)

After the release of “Gbese” early last year, we thought we’ve seen the best of Lil Kesh. “Efejoku” with, fellow YBNL protege, proved us wrong.
A certified club banger we all have been enjoying and shaking our backside to, “Efejoku” made sure our love affair with Lil Kesh didn’t hit a rock (we hope it doesn’t this year, tho)
And lest I forget, “Its Young John the wicked producer”

9} Jagaban remix by Ycee ft Olamide (Produced by Dwill)

If Ycee remains an “upcoming” artiste this year, then he must go to his village and ask questions pertaining to his destiny.
“Jagaban” was a banger, but the remix with Baddo took the song to higher levels.
Take it or leave it, “Jagaban” was one of those songs that rocked 2015 and we expect Ycee to be celebrated the more this new year.

10} Lagos Boys by Olamide (Produced by Young John)

“Ladies sneh and gentlemen sneh…”
And Olamide just did something for the Eko boys that rocked 2015 like mad.
It was a song we all liked, sang and are still singing.
“Ske ske robo ske, robo ske ske robo…”
We’ve seen a lot of years go well for Olamide, but we can comfortably say that 2015 was Olamide’s best year, yet.
Seriously Young John is another producer that had an awesome year.

11} Expensive $hit by Wizkid (Produced by Sarz)

Wizkid’s first official single of the year was meant to be a hit, and a hit it became.
Wiz sings about his many monkeyshines with “his ladies” in one of the best Afrobeat rendition since “Jaiye Jaiye”
Say the truth, you just hummed “rocking expensive $hit oo, e lele lele le”
Lol…

12} Laye by Kiss Daniel (Produced by DJ Coublon)

Many of us wrote Kiss Daniel off as a one hit wonder till we saw this (and the followup “Good Time” too)
A love song that we all love to love; singing in English and Yoruba, YoBoyKiss dazzled everyone, including you. I almost fell in love (but I fell out quick quick, lol)
Are you still doubting whether DJ Coublon was the best Nigerian music producer in 2015??

13} Reggae Blues by Harrysong ft Olamide, Kcee, Iyanya & Orezi (Produced by Dr Amir)

“After the reggae play the blues…the blues, the blues…”
And Harrysong got all of us under his spell in 2015!
A seemingly meaningless and gormless song that found a way to creep into our hearts in 2015. That’s Nigerians for you; we love stupid songs so far they make us relax and feel alright, lol.
And this song also sold a byword to the whole country which everybody gladly bought…”Cos even your boo get a boo” lwkmdh.
Even though the song is neither a reggae song nor a blues, even Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder will be glad singing it.

14} Godwin by Korede Bello (Produced by Don Jazzy)

We can’t talk about 2015 without talking about “Godwin”; not just in music but almost every aspect of the country in 2015 — politics, religion, name it, someone will say “Godwin” at any slightest instance.
Korede brought himself into full limelight with this song that talks about giving glory to God in everything because all the victories in our lives belong to him.
Whether Korede is a one hit wonder, Chidey can’t tell, but I can cushily tell you that this song is one of 2015’s best.

15. Melo Melo by Olamide (Produced by Pheelz)

Who wouldn’t be amazed to hear Olamide singing a love song in the most solemn of ways
Yeah, Olamide did it, he gave us one of the best love songs of 2015. And to know the song was coming from a rapper tripped many. Indeed, Olamide is a good singer.
By all odds, “Melo Melo” was one of the best stuffs, music-wise, to come out of Nigeria in 2015.

Notable Mentions
1} Sade by Adekunle Gold
2} Indomie remix by Masterkraft ft Davido, Olamide & CDQ (Produced by Masterkraft)
3} Ashimapeyin by Wande Coal (Produced by Sarz)
4} Gbese by Lil Kesh (Produced by Young John)
5} King Kong by Vector (Produced by Lusciouskrakit)

Having a car of your own gives one kind good feeling I really can’t explain. There are several varieties of cars and most people and families would like to own one regardless the stiff economic situation of the country. This car people often thank God when they acquire has made many families bereaved of their loved ones due to road accident.

There are other forms of transportation here in Nigeria, but transportation by road is widely used other than by air and water bodies. I’m so concerned about road transportation because of every 10 Nigerians, 8 travels by road. Individual use this particular means to transport themselves, their goods and services within the country.

Before we go further on the topic we are here for, let’s take a look at some statistics.

It shouldn’t be news to you that after Boko Haram insurgency, road accident is the second highest source of violent death in Nigeria. Among the 193 countries of the world, Nigeria ranked second-highest in the rate of road accident.

In the year 2007, World Bank ranked the number of vehicles per 1000 inhabitants in various countries and Nigeria ranked 143 with 31 cars per 1000 inhabitants. Imagine what it would look like this 2015 with adequate data. I believe there are more vehicles on the road lately, and more vehicles on the road leads to more exposure and increase in road accident (imagine if there are only 100 cars in your state; there won’t be much accidents).

In the year 2013, 6450 Nigerians lost their lives on Nigerian roads due to accident. Splitting this, you get 4552 men; 1398 women; 299 boys and 201 girls. Just imagine the huge number. Also between 2009 and 2013, records have it that 30,435 people were killed on road accident in Nigeria.

The sad truth is that people die almost every day on our Nigeria roads and more are bound to occur due to human factors, mechanical factors, and environmental factors. In as much more trained FRSC members are needed in order to enforce the law, we won’t fold our arms and comfortably watch our loved ones die because the law enforcement agents are not there. I believe there are some things that could be done by you reading this. Don’t allow lives to be lost for reasons that could have been easily controlled. Every day many of our fellow human beings get paralyzed, injured, disfigured for life and many others killed. Accidents rarely give a warning about its occurrence. It just happens.

Below are the advises I have for everybody especially this Yuletide season.

1.) Be very careful on the public transport you use.

It is good you know that commercial vehicles constitutes the highest number of accidents and records the number of death. Always use commercial vehicles with good reputation and low record of accidents. Use buses which have their speed regulated. Speed kills.

2.) Avoid anything that has to do with alcohol if you must drive.

Driving under the influence of alcohol changes the right functionality of the human body. It makes the victim react slowly to things; causes impaired coordination; makes you act inappropriately etc.

Alcohol is known for the cause of accident globally. It is also appalling that this ‘killer liquid’ is readily available in almost every motor pack across the country.

DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

3.) Don’t travel with that you road unworthy vehicle.

You don’t need to prove your managerial dexterity when it comes to the car you will use in traveling. Don’t say you’re going to manage the faulty brakes, bad tires, ineffective lights etc. Even if you are not so much concerned about your own life, try considering others in your car and on the same road with you.

Don’t be the dangerous driver. Avoid masking unnecessary overtakes, over-speeding, or even sleeping while driving. Take enough rest before you embark on your journey.

4.) Be a smart pedestrian.

Even you that is not in any car but walking with your ‘legedis benz’ is prone to accident. Remember there are drivers that don’t even have common sense talk more of having good driving sense. You have to be very careful and much more aware of your environment.

It is advised you walk facing the oncoming traffic and you should get as far to the side of the road as possible in order to provide additional space between you and oncoming cars. This is enables you to have eye contact with approaching motorists. You can as well make quick judgement on how to protect yourself. Keep the volume of your earpiece low too.

5.) It is not advisable to ply the road you really don’t know at night. Take off during the day to avoid night journey

6,)Make fire extinguishers readily available in your car in case of fire outbreak.

7.) Always drive with your seat-belt on. It can save your life and can reduce the fatality of the accident.

8,) Avoid all forms of distraction while driving. Guys should forget looking at those girls on the road and concentrate on their driving. All these nagging women and girls should also leave the driver alone.

9.) Don’t hit the highway if you can’t drive. Highway isn’t a good place to learn how to drive.

10.) Be careful about the foggy atmosphere this harmattan. It is advisable you drive with your headlamps on because of the poor vision.

11.) God will forever be the ultimate. Don’t forget to commit your journey into his able hands.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year

Car Talk / 7 Types Of Drivers You See On Nigerian Roads by milestonejnr(m): 11:55am On Dec 14, 2015
http://www.gistalive.com/2015/12/11/7-types-of-drivers-you-see-on-nigerian-roads/

Nigeria is a very interesting country. Please let’s hear from you if in any way you don’t agree. On Nigerian roads, you see varieties of people plying the road. In this post, you will see some categories of people you can see on Nigerian road. You see those with sense; those with only common sense; the senseless; those that might not have sense again etc.

Below are the various types of drivers you see everyday on Nigerian Roads.

#1. The Cursers/Abusers: Many of Nigerian drivers are victims of this actually. Driving in Nigeria can really make a saint go gaga. These drivers don’t find it hard to use their open five fingers facing some other drivers direction to shout ‘Your father!’. They have all the road cuss words like ‘Yeye man’, ‘Ewu’, ‘God punish you’ leave their mouth each time you do what they don’t like. They will curse you, curse you family, curse you generation, accuse you of being blood-sucking demon if you mistakenly do what they don’t like on road. They don’t find it hard to rain abuses on people. Most Nigerians have this in common.

#2. Deviants: This type of drivers will always try to make way where there is no way; they create their own lanes when there is a lot of traffic. They are the impatient drivers and are fund of causing traffic jam. They are the ‘one-way-guys’. They will just wait for their leader (the driver wey get morale pass) to initiate this action and others will follow up. Then after passing up to 10 cars, they will try to squeeze in their car again to the right queue again.

Being in the traffic queue makes them feel stupid, and to annul this feelings of stupidity, they pave their own way which will all end creating more traffic. These drivers find it hard to stick into their head the ‘right of the way‘ rule. The unfortunate ones are always caught by road enforcement agents while the sharp ones scale through. They pay no attention to traffic light and will always like to beat it.

#3. Bullion van and escorts: These guys are experts but are often intoxicated with the little power the have. They can be recklessness and sharp at the same time. Their driving is very rough. They switch lanes as if it is a good driving habit or maybe because they think they are above the law. Every other driver on the road doesn’t make sense to them; they consider every other car on the road as nothing. You will experience hell on earth if you mistakenly fall a victim. Okada riders will tell you their stories. They always fall victim of their koboko and big stick.

There have been several incidences where accident occurred which sometimes claim people’s life, render some cripple.

My advice: You should be very careful with them. They don’t mind hitting that your beautiful expensive ride. They will always find their way out.

#4. Racers: Since there is no speed limit here in Nigeria. Those ones you see on roads might be for aesthetics. These drivers will always like to compete while driving. Maybe to tell you that they are better driver than you, or that they have more powerful car than you do. The only rule they understand is: drive but don’t bash anyone. It irritates them to see a car pass them by; they will always depress the throttle to the mat the moment you want to overtake them. Everything is competition for them. They swerve from lane to lane as it pleases them, most especially when the guy ahead of them is driving like a snail.

#5. The Mr Right:
These set of drivers always claim to be right in whatever they do on the road, even when they are wrong. You know them by what comes out from the mouth. They argue a lot, ask stupid questions and might even know very little about driving etiquette.

#6. The Learners: It is not very hard to spot them on roads. They always drive with their big ‘Leaner tag’ in front and behind their cars. They look very mean and always keep straight faces as if they are struggling the steering with anybody. They always get confused in some situations and might not find their way out easily if not with their instructor.

#7. Crazy Honker: They will always honk even when the road is very free and there are no obstruction in sight. Since their is no law against honking, they do it all the way. They honk when they are tired and irritated. who knows…this might be a method of relieving stress for them.

Don’t forget to add yours

Relationships can never be perfect, it can be sweet and can also be sour. But in a case whereby you have checked your relationship with someone and have seen it won't really work out. What's the best way to quit maturely?

I have seen some dudes act funny by picking their phone, dialing the girls number and the utter 'it's not working out, I think it's over'.

In case u know a good and mature to approach such situation, ur contribution is highly needed.

Thanks guys!

Sports / Believe It Or Not, Manchester City Is The EPL Team To Beat This Season by milestonejnr(m): 12:47pm On Aug 27, 2015
I was gulping down my last chilled bottle of Hero when Alexander Kolarov slotted the ball past Tim Howard into the net. I wasn't surprised neither was I angry (though, the knowledge that I just spent my 'last card' on some stupid bottles of Hero really annoyed me, lol)

That goal was just inevitable and before the final whistle was blown, Samir Nasri chipped in the second to sum up another scintillating performance from Man City, making it 8 goals in three matches with no single goal yet to be conceded.
I did a little flashback and remembered that Chelsea's third fixture last season was at Goodison Park; they won that match 6-3. And now in 2015/2016 season, Man City just played their third match of the season at Goodison Park against an Everton team that just defeated Southampton 3 nil at St Mary's a week before, and came out triumphant ---2 goals, 0 goals conceded and 3points.

What other better way can you start your EPL campaign? You'll understand what I mean when you realize that they just trashed the defending champion 3 nil in the previous week.
Their other title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea have four points apiece, while Liverpool and Manchester United have 7 points apiece.

The points are not even the issue, but the issue is how those points were gotten. Chelsea just struggled to their first win of the season at The Hawthorns on Sunday, drab Man Utd and It's strikers have been misfiring all season, Liverpool are more deceiving than impressive while Arsenal are yet to show the credentials of a title contender.

But Man City are having a funfair, instead. Yaya Toure is back to his bullish form which we know him for; David Silva is busy enjoying the sight of EPL defenders and midfielders gliding past his amazing dribbles; Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala have metamorphosed to the famed Rock of Gibraltar overnight; Raheem Sterling is slowly but steadily crawling into the pace of the team; Fernandinho is shielding the defence as if his life depends on it and at the same time making sure the whole midfield ticks; Otamendi just arrived from Valencia and if news from Goal.com is something we should believe, then we should be expecting the Bundesliga player of the season Kevin Debruyne anytime before September 1.

Now, ain't that jaw-dropping? If Man City was toothless and visionless last season, they are hungry tigers now!
The only variables that will stop Man City this season is a calamity, injuries and, as Mourinho will always say, a "campaign" against them. But even if an injury avalanche hits them, there have a very wonderful team with enough depth and the players seems to be in form.

In defence they have Kompany, Mangala, Otamendi, Demichelis, Sagna, Clichy, Kolarov. In Midfield, they have Toure, Fernandinho, Nasri, Fernando, Delph, Silva, Navas, etc.

And in attack, they have the roaring Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony waiting for a chance. Seriously, the injury that will dampen these guys must have to come from either a shrine in Ibadan or in Enugu Ezike, Nsukka.

Please don't get me wrong, it's not like this team is invincible (not at all) and it's not like I am a Man City fan, but with the matches they've played this season, I think they are really hot at the moment. After all, what else is analysis if not to use current trends to predict future occurrences?

But to avert Man City strolling seamlessly to the title, other EPL teams and most especially, title contenders have to wake up, cease losing points to smaller team, plan how to defeat Man City and also pray (to any God they serve) that Man City, somehow, lose points along the way. This is because if this their form continues, then other EPL teams have every right to be scared.
