EducationAdvice To Undergraduates And Aspirants...get Things Going, Don't Waste Your Time by milestonejnr(op): 10:29am On Jan 19, 2015
It is never too late to start getting ready for the future you often dream about, but the earlier the better. You may be saying to yourself you still have time, but the sad news is that time flies and waits for nobody; the saddest is that you can never recover any time wasted.
H. Jackson Brown Jr. said "Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller,Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Theresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein." - They are the world's great achievers.

My intention for writing this post is to pass on a message mostly to undergraduates and those that aspire to become one someday. Even if you are not either of them, I believe you will get something out of this post.

Below are things you should start doing as student ahead of time.

1. Participate in advancement programs: Try attending programs like workshops, symposia, excursions, conferences and seminars. It isn't a bad idea at all. This is indeed a benign idea to adopt since you broaden your knowledge when you attend them. You are likely to know things you may not know from reading on your own or from lectures.
2. Study smartly: Most people just read to pass their exams and after that, they have no business with all they have read before the exam. I believe reading to know is better because you may need the knowledge sometime in the future.
3. Make friends: In the world today, it is no longer what you know but who you know. Pythagoras is right with what he said - "Friends are companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life". Friendship can make you attain a height that wouldn't be achievable if you tried climbing all alone. You should also break through age apartheid; be friends even to those older than you, they can be your mentor.
4. Get some skills and also improve on the ones you already have: "Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together" - Vincent Van Gogh. It is indispensable to acquire skills that are relevant to your course of study. this can make you outstanding in the midst of your mates, competitors, counterparts etc. The importance of acquiring skills can not be overemphasized. You can even make some cool cash out of it as a student but that depends on the skill you acquired.
5. Make good use of your social media: With these social media, you can meet people with like interest with you, engage in discussions and can even find solutions to some of your problems there. Refrain from what may be detrimental or mar you personality now or even later in the future. Posting of explicit picture is trending now of which are done by girls mostly... please desist from such.
6. Know yourself and take right decisions: It is never a good thing to be pliable all the time, it is important that you make your own decisions some times in your life. You know yourself more than any other person do, know what works for you and go for it. You cant be everything at the same time. behind.Go for what is relevant to you and leave other irrelevant. Do things that matters, time is running out. Discover who you are and fully give every aspect of your uniqueness to the world. This can be your path to extraordinary life.
7. Don't be weighed down by failure: Things may not always go the way you want it. You may experience hard times, failure and other things that will try to way you down, but be strong and don't lose focus. Henry Ford said: "Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently." Even when you find yourself in situations where you seem to be going nowhere, feeling inadequate and unable to face life with enthusiasm and confidence, just know that there can be another new beginning.
8. Involve God: If you are with God, you're with majority. Allow him to be the master of your ship because, he alone can fight the storms and waves you encounter in you life. Play your role as a mortal and then leave the rest for god.
The earlier the better because time shall come when you may not have the opportunity to do all that were stated here.
I hope you find this helpful and you can as well make your own contributions.

Christianity EtcPope Francis Canonizes Sri-lanka's First Catholic Saint by milestonejnr(op):
This is one of the biggest gathering witnessed by the Sri Lankans. Thousands of people gathered as the Pope canonized the island's first saint. The people in the country are mostly Buddhist and only about 10% are Christians; 7% of Sri Lanka's population are Catholics.

Joseph Vaz, a missionary in the 17th century, went to India in disguise to help the
Catholics that were persecuted by the Dutch. He worked for years under the protection of a Buddhist king.

Pope Francis also calls for truth and unity after up to five years of brutal civil war.
Pope Francis, speaking slowly in English, said Christians should follow the example of Vaz to build peace, justice and reconciliation.
Many came to be blessed by the Pope

RomanceTry Being Attractive, Beauty May Not Be Enough by milestonejnr(op):
Beauty is having qualities that are pleasant to the eyes. Everybody is beautiful in their own unique way. Obviously, some people are more beautiful than the other.
it is not all about being beautiful, attractiveness also matters. There are some girls that think they are beautiful but still, the relationship they always dream about isn't coming forth... Don't you think there is a problem?

Having the right attitude can make you the person people will like to associate with. Every human
being needs to be attractive, whether you are single or married. If you are single, you need to attract the right people and if you are married, you need to keep looking attractive to your spouse, and even if you are just a business man, you need to be attractive enough to be able to present and market yourself well. so, everybody needs to develop a level of attractiveness.

TIPS

1. When it comes to the game of relationship, please, DO NOT BE DESPERATE. The more desperate you are the less the chances you attract the right people. It is hard to make a sound decision in desperation. You can ask Esau in the bible who sold his birthright just because of porridge( most incredible deal ever negotiated). Being desperate can drive people away from you; everybody feels somehow when you come strong on them, it makes them wonder what you want.

2. DON'T BE TEMPTED TO GO NAKED.
Years back, fashion was about what you wear, but now, fashion is about what you are not wearing. Don't open everything in your body and then leave nothing to the imagination. You may think you are attractive because of your exposed body parts... NO, you are not... you can't even attract real men like that, you can only attract dogs. I think you know what it is like to marry a dog. When they see your sister, friend or anyone that opens more than you, he will go. The sad news remains that that exposed body won't be like that forever.

3. DON'T COME PRETENDING.
Many in the bid to attract the right persons(partners) start pretending to be something that they are not. You must be yourself and truthful to yourself. Don't put in so much effort to change who you are, unless you have the worse kind of attitude. Know you are good the way you are. I don't think you've seen the best actors in Nigeria until you see a woman that is desperate to marry, they begin to act out everything. When you do a lot of pretending before marriage, eventually, it will be difficult to keep pretending and that's why true colour comes out after marriage. I think there is need to be real.

4. HAVE A HEALTHY SELF ESTEEM.
People will see you the way you see yourself. Being attractive starts from the way you place yourself. The price you pay for a thing determines its value. Some girls are now as cheap as anything you can imagine.
Someone may jilt you, but that doesn't mean you are less special than you are. You were fearfully and wonderfully made, you're a masterpiece of God's creation, you are not a mistake. You were handcrafted by God, he didn't assign the angels to make you; he made you himself. You were not made in china but heaven, so don't allow anybody put you down.

5. GET A PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE.
Try to perfect your God-given gifts and talents. A purposeful person is always more attractive than a purposeless person because purpose releases passion, attractiveness, creativity etc. The average young girl in this part of the world-Nigeria- maybe purposeless. Their only dream is to marry, bear children, look after the children, and look after their children children.
You can even meet your spouse faster when you work on purpose. Learn something and try and perfect in it. When you don't have a dream, your abuse is inevitable and that's why they will call you to come and shake your bum in a music video. If you were to be purposeful, you cant be that cheap. Don't be lazy, be industrious

6. MAINTAIN A JOYFUL ATTITUDE.
Know that worries won't render any solution to your problem. Even when in an unpleasant situation, try your best to approach your problem with joy. Don't allow anyone condemn you, so, maintain a joyful attitude.

7. It isn't everybody that comes into your life that you will marry, some are just supposed to be your friends. You marry the person that understands you, that you don't need to pose for or brag to.

icemann:
All these men. way dey copy and paste.

The priciple is based on Gas laws, If you know Gay-Lussac's law it would be alot easier to understand.

Let me explain in lay mans terms

Your engine is a combustion chamber(it burns Gasoline), and combustion is a combination of fuel(gasoline), air and fire(from your plugs)
when combustion happens, carbon (from the hydro carbon octane which is the major component of gasoline) mixes with oxygen to form Water, carbon dioxide(co2), carbon monoxide(co) and Energy. It is and Exothermic reaction( Heat is released ) the process of combustion causes expansion (The Gas molecules co2 and co are excited due to heat and causes excessive vibration there fore the expansion) and the expansion forces the piston downwards(Combustion phase of a 4 cycle engine)

Now this is the supercharging and turbo charging part

Cause the process of expansion and combustion is limited to the cylinder volume at full expansion we could "cheat" by forcing in more air molecules in side the combustion chamber and get more expansion and reduce the amount of incomplete co to co2 (aka more oxygen and a cleaner burn) . Sounds easy right? Hell no.

Pressure laws states that increase in pressure causes increase in temperature at fixed volume and reduce pressure would cause cooling all at fixed volume. (that is why your deodorant spray and insecticide gets cold when almost empty).

So if we compress air it would get hotter, Not nice for your engine. Hot air would cause Pre-ignition and the Knocking sound. But what of the knock sensors? The cant do anything now, why? The knock sensors adjust flow rate(air and fuel) to reduce knock, but the air hot enough to burn even before the compression stage starts.

So how do we cool the air? We use and inter-cooler, Its a heat ex-changer/radiator for the compressed hot air. It cools the compressed air before it goes into the engine.

Sounds easy right? But now here is the difficult part, How do you know what size of each component you need?
The turbos are rated in output pressure and flow rate, PSI and cubic inches respectively (Americans and field units, yeye people). And the inter-cooler are rated in BTU's (heat is measures in joules and yes America again)

Now the Engineering part.

So you are compressing from 14.7psi (atmospheric pressure) to 25psig (note psi is different from psig, The G means gauge, so 25 psig is 25+14=39psi)

Let me stop here for now my oga de look me some how. I would do the engineering later.
Thank you oga Icemann. What a wonderful explanation you gave. I really enjoyed reading it cos u made everything look simple and easy to comprehend.
Car TalkRe: Turbo In Cars by milestonejnr(op): 1:01pm On Jan 07, 2015
Export1:
The basic principal behind turbocharging is fairly simple, but a turbocharger is a very complex piece of machinery. Not only must the components within the turbocharger itself be precisely coordinated, but the turbocharger and the engine it services must also be exactly matched. If they're not, engine inefficiency and even damage can be the results. That's why it's important to follow correct installation, operating and preventative maintenance procedures.

You can as well try it out and share your experience later.

Car TalkTurbo In Cars by milestonejnr(op):
A turbo is simply a hot air pump that channels or forces more air into the engine; with more air, the engine can generate more power which efficiently improves performance. Turbos are fitted in cars to increase power output instead of increasing the size of the engine.

This turbo is mounted in the exhaust system. The exhaust gas that exist from the engine drives the turbine which turns the compressor, pulling in air and compresses it and then channeled to the cylinders. Turbo is driven by the waste energy from the exhaust gas.
With engine at idle, the turbine spins with minimum speed and as more gas passes through the turbine, it spins faster and at full speed, the turbo rotate at about 240,000 rpm.

Why should Turbo be used?

It improves response across a wider engine operating range
It improves fuel economy
It enhances engine braking - this happens when the retarding force of the engine is used in slowing down the vehicle instead of the external applied brakes
It allows vehicle manufacturers to use smaller engine packages to achieve a given power outputs
You can reach your optimal rpm quickly thus improving boost delivery.
It cut emission of carbon-monoxide to the environment.
