Tru sha, but the prices tho. What of India ink? It's not like I can't visit bookshops, I stay in one deadzone like that all those places you mentioned are like travelling to ibadan.. bookshops in my area are understocked.

Lecturing isn't a waste of time to me tho, I hope to lecture someday cus that way you are part of the building of the future. The problem however is Nigeria, in other countries a physiologist is a scientist doing research and finding out stuff.

*I recommend the sakura pens instead but you need to order them via Amazon. Check for Micron Sakura pen set of 6
*Rotring pen set of 8 is now 26k
*Clutch pencils vary between N900-1k
*Coloured pencils & pastel - Maybe 2-3k each

Am totally Adobe as that's my best workflow and CorelDraw...

I got Inkscape cus it was readily available, looking to buy illustrator soon as Inkscape was really limiting the bounds of what I could do.

Rotring pen set available in Ojuelegba,Lagos,Nigeria for years(I studied architecture) & the sakura pen set isn't available in Nigeria ordered via Amazon here.

For pencil sketches I prefer rotring clutch pencils also known as mechanical pencils (0.5 & 2.0mm thickness) available also in Ojuelegba or a good bookshop that stocks up well.Then colour up with coloured pencils & pastel.

Like how much would I be spending? And which would u recommend for inking in the absence of India ink

All these been happening life in Nigeria and am still cooking beans!! Choi. Me and a couple of friends been drawing comics in highschool, we parted ways but the dream was to create a Nigerian comicverse.. Vortex and Comic Republic are doing a good job,

Good attempt. To create good ink outlines get a set of rotring pens or sakura pens (used by Japanese manga artists & made there also). Biros don't just cut it when transferring to Photoshop,Illustrator or SketchBook Pro.

Chief, can I easily get those in Lagos? Where and how much? I currently use an Aplus liquidly pen.

physiology taking some anatomy courses is the right thing, but anatomy taking physiology courses? That's extremely odd. As for biochemistry that is another story. Well to each his own. I've never heard of this before tho. Guess we do learn new things everyday.

I try to draw but I guess cartoon has taken over my soul, nothing I draw looks like the person rather more like a cartoon.

Painting on Photoshop isn't easy with mouse, who knows where I can get a cheap drawing tab in Lagos?

That means unical's med school's syllabus get k-leg. Yes, basic med sciences do offer the same courses as those in MBBS, but the mode of lectures has to be different. And the syllabus too.

Can't really say tho, there's nothing to lose if basic med offers same courses exactly as medstudent. I just am yet to understand how they would run it considering the time constraints of doing basic med as a medical student.

Well I don't know much about how medicine works but I think all are connected, the anatomy, biochemistry and physiology of the body. So for an anatomist to take some biochemistry and physiology and likewise doesn't sound too absurd to me.

I started following this thread since 2013 after my grad. I thought nigeria will be a theatre of dreams as I hoped. But after writing jamb 4 times and couldn't get medicine my hope stated fading. Although right now I've been sponsored to a flying school abroad. I like aviation but its passion is not as strong as d 1 I have or should I say "had" for medicine. I'm still thinking, I'm leaving d country soon and I wrote jamb 2016 applied for mbbs. What if this year is my chance. I just hope been a pilot will be d best for me.

If you really have the passion to do med, by all means, finish flying school be a pilot, go to medschool (abroad maybe) and be a flying doctor, maybe you would be the one to do some good in the world, like an air ambulance of some sorts, medicair kinda thing or doctors with wings kinda thing. It's all about what you want and how far you are willing to go.

Keep searching maybe you would find, but the activation ain't that costly.

Do you want to study med or physio? Make up your mind so you know how to set your goals. physiology ain't a waste of time, Nigeria just makes it so, so it's up to you to be blown with the wind or make something out of it.

Mbbs is hard as well as every other course, but human beings have been doing it so it's doable, you just have to be willing to put in work to ride through. Nothing in life is easy.

Mr. Mill. There are different ideas around it. At times it is from the frustration in Naija but even at that if life is purposed for it, the frustration won't lead to opting for a quit for people with very strong perspective of life or character and for the frail ones, it does pressure to file a quit but the question is : are you called? like are you meant for it? you see, what is not meant to be won't be. so many get into the path because of the glories and hypes they've been fed with while growing up or the drive to be among the spotlight–reigning ones! With all these and many more intentions many venture into this path and some may even quit along the way but the others enduringly continue.. . . . after so many years, now they've become it and have been established in the path. One day, they just wake up to the discovery that it's not working out; it's not what they expected; it's not this. it's not that. So many years and resources have gone oo...
You see, there's a purpose and there should be an intention for the purpose. That purpose though we have passions in very different measures cannot be realized without replicating the intention in the soul and the soul walking with it!
So many of us are for this purpose but we have the wrong intentions at mind and we'll one day be like that brother whom Sir Millex met and it'd be very devastating and despairing. we need to gather up ourselves with the right intention and run with it. I know the purpose should be or near being fulfilled as a person in what you do first, all other is secondary. if you're fulfilled or looking for it, you won't complain at some things easily when others do because your drive is deeper than those things that would affect others. only death can cut you off or stop you from staying there or running after it!
One of the ways you know it's your place is the happiness and joy you find in going after it with the fact that you're fulfilled in it! you can't imagine something else for life. prospects: the compassion and love for patients. That empathy to have a touch that quenches throbs of pain in your patients, the fulfillment of being a source of hope to them and being trusted by them!! it goes on and on..!! you know you are on the right path by these! you could also be meant for it and not have passions in line with these things listed above. your aptness to or adapting to the new drive also shows it.
I pray we don't be like that brother but even if it gets to the point, we won't throw it all to the winds and be lost! Amen.

Bro but in Nigeria do we still do anything according to purpose? A few of my coursemates back in Uni currently work in banks etc and these guys were really good in Mcb with the dreams doing great things. I feel the dream is gradually dying, minus even med now, this country is bad for dreams... its where dreams come to die. It's really sad, well I won't be deterred, still chasing my purpose and dreams with hopes that it does turn to dust along the way. What do I know tho I am still at the starting phase.

I was speaking with a doc recently that I have the passion to study medicine, and he was like I should go find another job that he sef planning to port. Abeg is it the the passion has died or med is just screwed up in naija.? Docs please

In the same limited amount of time they had to do it too? With the pressure of incourse all round calendar etc?
