Okay, Aunt Repogirl. I'm a late member of your fan club. I stumbled on your works late last year. And I was blown away. You're incredible. I can't wait to see the end of this masterpiece. |
Hi guys, Happy Sunday. So let me know what you think about the updates. Oh and a very big thank you to genius43 and Obinnau |
Obinnau:Thanks for your help. |
*** Ose smiled as Rosanna moaned as she bit into the spring roll he gave her. Her eyes were shut as she savored the taste and he caught the tip of her greedy tongue dart out to lick any crumb off her lips. "Man, that's just insane, ", she groaned in ecstasy. Ose bit his lip and took a deep breath, reining himself in and reminding himself of all the reasons she was off limits. Fejirose David Lawrence, control yourself. Stop catching feelings. She's taken already. He sang it like a war chant in his mind yet his heart kept on banging like a war drum for the woman in front of him. Was there something wrong with him? Did he have a death wish? Why washe always falling for other men's women? Even with him being aware of Dare's hulk like size, it did nothing to dissuage the feelings he had for her? " I can't believe I haven't had small chops in forever. Like what the hell was I thinking?" She gushed and picked up another puff-puff. "God, these peppered puffs are to die for." He couldn't help the grin on his face. She was just so cute. "Are you laughing at me?" She quipped with mock annoyance. "Laughing? I know better. Smirking? That's more like it." She rolled her beautiful brown ombre-like eyes and slowly bit into the puff-puff in her hands. "Bleep! That's so good." She groaned and sighed and tossed the rest of it into her mouth. "Are you gonna finish that?" She asked with her mouth full and pointing at the pastries left on his disposable foil plate He shook his head smiling at her antics. She was still the same quirky, weird and charming lady he met in the library not too long ago except then he didn't find her charming. Quite the opposite. He had found her to be annoying, a pest with a filter problem and the most unrefined lady he had ever met. To think then she had been free and available but he passed her up. And now she was with a man who treatedher like the queen she was and he had staked his claim. His eyes glanced at the pink rock on her left ring finger and bitterness sprouted in him. "You know, Ose. I'm really gonna miss this when Dare and I move back to the States." She whined. Just keep on reminding me, Ro. And maybe this stupid heart will stop loving you. "When are you two leaving?" "In three days." "What?!" He screamed with his heart picking up the tempo. |
**** Felicia stirred as Jaiye's prayers peered into her sleep. She reflexively reached for her phone. 3:56. Had he been praying all night? She stretched and rolled out of the bed. His voice seemed put of breath, parched and in anguish. His vest was darkened with sweat, his face spotted with more sweat and his feet spacing the width of the guest room. Was it her father's health that had him so worked up? She sat by the edge of the bed and tried to pick up on the prayer points. She couldn't make out words from the unintelligible mix of too much tongue language and too little anguish laced Yoruba. She opted to pray in the Spirit. Her eyes trailed him and just then her husband crashed to his knees in sobs. Her heart broke as he bowed on the floor. " Jesus, have mercy on me. Look with pity upon me!" He whimpered, shaking with sobs. "Please have mercy. Choose to have mercy upon me." This was definitely beyond her father. She could count on one hand the number of times she had seen Jaiye cry. Nothing compared to this. He stretched himself out on the floor lying on his belly weeping. What could be disturbing him so much that he never bothered to share? His weeping soon faded into silent crying and his lips started mumbling as he continued in his mix of tongues and Yoruba. She didn't know where to start her prayers from. She could only say three words. Jesus, have mercy. ******** Three little girls sat underneath an almond tree while one fair girl knelt before them crying fake tears. Why was he around little girls playing? Was the Lord trying to reiterate that Felicia's unborn children would be girls? But the scan showed boys. Was there a mistake somehow and God was trying to correct it? The sun, white hot in its radiation, caused Jaiye to seek refuge underneath the almond tree as well. He stood not too far from the girls and leaned against the tree. Watching the girls leisurely, he murmured in disapproval underneath his breath. After a three-hourly prayer watch combined with dry fasting, he was expecting a clear and resolute answer from the Lord. Something telling him the promised fate he had seen concerning his daughter had been averted or at least that his father - in-law would forgive them. He sighed and looked the girls again. They were probably eight or nine. One was fair, very fair in an albinotic way. The others were varying shades of brown. "Confess! I know you killed Ada's husband." One of the girls sitting jumped out of her seat and knocked the girl kneeling on the head. She huffed and puffed in anger looking like croaking, hopping frog with her small frame. " Ahh!" The fair girl kneeling shouted rubbing her light brown cornrows. "It's painful na." "Sorry." The hitherto angry frog girl apologised. "Sorry." The other two girls consoled. "She was trying to do like Mama Kaine in the film." One girl with low cut hair explained. "Oya, let's continue, " the girl who did the knocking said, "assuming I've already knock your head. Say your own part." "Mama, I did not kill Ada's husband." The girl kneeling sobbed. "Oya swear." One of the two spectators to the feud between 'mother' and 'daughter' commented and gave her a stick wrapped with red cloth. Alarm bells rang in Jaiye's head as he leaned away from the tree. "Okay. I will swear." The girl kneeling said and collected the stick. "But, in the film, they went to the dibia's house." The frog girl playing the mother said. "There is nobody to act dibia na." The girl who gave the stick retorted. "Sorry, I forgot" The mother said. "Oya, swear. Pamela, swear." Pamela? Was it just a coincidence or was the little girl before him Felicia's mother? As he studied her with scrutiny, he could see similarities between the girl and his wife. The same light skin and brown hair. The same broad nose and plump lips. "I, Pamela, swear that if I killed Ada's husband-" "You and your future children will never marry. " One of the other two girls prompted. "Stop!", Jaiye shouted and run to where they they were. " I and my future children will never marry."Pamela pronounced. "Even if you marry, you will never enjoy your marriage." The girl cuing her continued. "Stop it!" Jaiye shouted. "Can't you hear me? Stop this stupid play now!" "Even if we marry, we will never enjoy our marriage." Pamela continued as though she didn't hear Jaiye. "Spit on it three times.", the prompter continued. Pamela obeyed and handed the stick back to the girl who had given her. " Stop it!", Jaiye screamed. " Let heaven and earth come and bear witness to the oath that Pamela made today." "Ise!", the others chorused. " If she is innocent let her be spared. If not, let all that she said and worse happen to her and children and her children's children." "Ise!" Jaiye made to collect the stick from the girl but woke up in his father's guest room with a start. He pushed away the blanket covering him. He must have fallen asleep. Sitting up, he bowed his head and supported it with his hands. God, what was that? That, my son, is the storm blowing against your marriage with Felicia threatening to submerge it. That is the storm waiting and biding its time for your daughter. I thought all this while it was the spell Felicia's father cast on us that caused the trouble in our marriage. What do you think pushed a man who loved his daughter to do that? Simply anger? No. Why then did you ask me to restitute? I could have been praying against this all this while instead. There is already a curse on your marriage for what you two did. Not even stemming from the mistake Pamela made. God! What do I do?! It is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of the Lord that showeth mercy. What would you have me do, Lord? Pray. This kind goeth not away but by prayer and fasting. Jaiye raised his head in frustration. Jaiye pray was all he had been hearing for the past six months. Would his prayer never be enough? He knew Christians ought to pray and not faint but this was getting too much. He was tired. It was as if his problem was insurmountable. He took in a deep breath. "Jaiye." He heard Felicia call He turned to look at her as she left the threshold of the en suite bathroom. Her short nightie was hitched higher by her growing bump. Their babies. A reminder of how serious he had to take his prayers. "How are you?" She asked shyly as she made to sit on the floor in front of him. "Fine." She pursed her lips and bowed her head for a few seconds and then looked up at him. "Are you still angry with me?" "No. Why would I be?" "You had a vigil last night and you didnt wake me up. Jaiye, we're supposed to be prayer partners. One will chase a thousand and two ten thousand." She said with her voice quivering and tears shimmering in her eyes. "Jaiye, something's been disturbing you. So much so that you were weeping and wailing as you prayed and you've not told me about it." Jaiye was perplexed as he saw tears fall from her eyes. "Jaiye, you're angry with me. I don't need to be told. I'm sorry. If it's because of the way I acted at Papa's house, I'm sorry." She sobbed and looked down at her hands unable to hold his gaze anymore. Is this one hormones or what will I call this one, bai nitori Olorun? "Jaiye, I'm sorry, " she said and looked up at his face. "Felicia, " he sighed, " I promise you I'm not angry with you." "What were you praying about then?" "It's a long story." "I'm not in a hurry." "I don't want to bother you, not with your condition." "I'm your wife first, before being a pregnant woman, before being their mother. Jay, if you don't bother me who will you bother." She asked wiping her tears. God, Jaiye thought. "I'm all ears." |

****** Maragaux charged into Rasheed's office like a dumper truck with no brake, prepared to give him a piece of her mind and if possible, rescind the contract he had with the company. What was he thinking, sending her tickets? She slapped herself for believing Daniel had sent the ticket. "How dare you, Rasheed? How dare you?!", she shouted andyossed the tickets at his chest. " Is this your game? To work to destroy my marriage?" He remained calm. Too calm that it infuriated her the more. "I can't ever be yours, Rasheed. Not anymore. When will you get it into your thick skull?" "Margaux!", he shot out of his seat bellowed, silencing her rants. "Watch your language. Ex or not, I am an investor in this company and you will treat me with respect. Tell me what your grievance is in a civilised manner. Or get out of my office." She ground her teeth. "Why did you send those tickets?" He picked them up and looked at them and said, "I didn't send these. I'm afraid." "Don't lie.", she snapped. " I'm not. I don't take actions I can't defend or decisions I won't confidently declare to be mine. Why would send you airplane tickets and tag them Happy Belated Honeymoon? I'm not that generous.", he retorted. "Rasheed-", she groaned. "Margaux, I didn't send it. Wallahi.", he assured. ******* Seyifunmi giggled at Rosanna's text as she walked back to the living room. She crashed into the sofa and typed her response. She exited the app and dialed Dele's number. It rang for a while but he didn't pick up. She dialed his number for a video call and seconds later she saw his water spotted face. " Hey, " he greeted casually. "I wish I was there with you. I'd have help you converse water." A small smile graced his lips. "Do you miss me that much?" "You wish, " she said and pouted. "Are you okay?" His smile didn't reach his troubled eyes. He sighed. "Have we ever talked about my dad?" He asked. "I asked once. You told me he's dead. And you told me to never ask again." Seyifunmi said as she tucked her leg underneath her. "I said that?!" "Well, I'm not one to judge." "Can we talk about him now?" "Only if you want." "Let me get dressed. Then I'll call you back." "No p." He ended the call and she sat patiently for him to call back. He did in about five minutes. She picked the call at the first ring. "The truth is that my father disowned my mum and me when I was just five. Called me a bastard and my mum a prostitute." "Why?! What happened?!" "He believed my mum seduced his twin brother whereas the bastard raped my mum and lied to his brother. My dad chose to believe his brother." "Oh my God!" She gasped in shock. "What happened to trust and everything?" "Well, he threw us out and now by some happenstance the truth came to light." "Well, bi iro ba lo fun ogun odun, l'ojo kan l'otito ma jade." "Yeah. Now, he's hounding me for forgiveness. Can you imagine? After thirty two years.", Dele shouted. Seyifunmi kept mute. " Does he know what I suffered? Does he know what I lacked? Does he know what it is like to grow up knowing your father sees you as a bastard? He doesn't know shit! Now,he's telling me 'have you never made a mistake'" "Well-" "Are you really siding with him?", he sputtered. " I It's not sides but if you're being honest, it is like your situation with Temi and Tomini. Tinu's given you a second chance. I mean it's not like he can actually be a father to you but Tinu forgave you." Silence answered her and she pulled the phone away from her ear to check if he was still on the line. "Hello?" Silence. "Hello?" "I will talk to you later.", he answered and cut the call. |

He watched the first set of girls set up a kitchen by the side of the kitchen and start cooking for their 'husbands' and 'children.' You can leave now. What am I supposed to learn from that, Lord? Go and pray. ****** Tanya awoke to the sound of a woman's screams with a jolt. Her new roommate Sekina turned to look at her in fear. Tanya sighed and closed her eyes and wished The woman, whoever it was, a safe delivery. Her palm came to her growing belly and tears filled her eyes. "I wonder what my husband is thinking," Sekina voiced out, her voice shaking with tears. Tanya turned to look at her and turned away. At least, you have people who will look for you. Not long after she arrived in the safe house, she found out from the older in mates you it wasn't a den of ritualists but a warehouse for an illegal baby factory. Young ladies were coerced or kidnapped for artificial insemination. Already pregnant women were abducted and their babies stolen. Some ladies asserted that they were betrayed by nurses in the hospital they patronized. That made sense, considering the fact she wasn't showing when she was kidnapped. A whimper came from Sekina and Tanya turned to look at her. She hissed and turned on her side. She wondered why Sekina believed tears were the only thing she could do. Anyway, she was still young and probably hormonal. Was this all part of a karmic punishment? She had led her boss to be imprisoned while pregnant and now she was incarcerated by a baby making syndicate. A shout from the woman in labour broke the silence in the room and Sekina whimpered again. "Allah, is this where I'll have my pirst baby?" Sekina sobbed. Tanya rolled her eyes. Sekina was probably seven or eight months gone. Definitely, barring a miracle, she'd have her baby in this hellhole. A deafening wailing piercedTanya's eardrums. She dreaded staying in the room directly underneath the labour room. It reminded her that someday, one day, it would be her turn. |
Aunty AJ," he called, jarring her from her thoughts. "I'm sorry about what I said." She saw his bottom lip wobble even as he bowed his head. "I know you are doing your best to take care of me, Tomini and Chris." He reeked of embarrassment and shame. "But I don't want to you to keep lying to us. Mummy is going to die, isn't she?" He looked up at her with rivulets flowing down his cheeks. "That's why you took us to see her in the hospital. You wanted us to see her again before she is killed, didn't you?" Ajiri was caught between a rock and a hard place. "Temi-" "Please, don't lie. Please." He begged. "Temi, we are doing our best to get your mummy out of jail. I swear but-" "She's still going to die, isn't she?" "I, I don't know. Anything can happen-" "We are really going to become orphans, aren't we?" He sobbed. "Temi-" "You don't need to lie. I'm not stupid. That's why mummy asked to see us in the hospital. She wanted to see us for the last time." He sobbed quietly. Ajiri found herself dreading just how much this quiet boy could pick up. She grabbed a hold of his hands. "No matter what happens, I'll continue to look after you and your siblings." She reassured. Temi shocked her by giving a wry laugh. "Not to sound ungrateful but it will never be the same." He wiped his face and held her gaze. "Don't worry. I'll never make you regret taking us in again." "Temi, I'm not regretting it," she assured. "Nonetheless, I promise. I'll apologize to Don Carlos and I will keep my anger in check." ********** Jaiye strolled out of hospital and towards the gate. He needed to clear his head, to get rid of the fear and worry, and maybe he'd be able to hear from the Lord. God, please, say something. Anything. I don't know how to handle this situation. Please. Nothing. No response. He sighed and continued walking with no destination in mind. He watched as passers-by went on their daily business. Cars and bikes zooming left and right. A bread hawker bawled out her presence and a kole- kole, a cart pushing garbage disposal man pushed his stinky cart past Jaiye. He wrinkled his nose in irritation as he turned the other way to continue his walk down the street. As he came to the front of an apartment building, he heard a voice telling him to stop. Lord? Watch and listen. He stopped and wondered what he was supposed to watch. There was no one in front of the building. He turned to face the other side of the street. There was nothing to watch there too. Soon, the gate of the building opened and three small girls came out. He smiled at their antics as they were clad in tshirts with mismatching Ankara wrappers and scarves. One was backing an ugly, faded teddy bear, while the other two carried plastic hand baskets filled with toys. "Iya Sikira, hope we will not be late to the market." One of the girls asked the one carrying the teddy bear baby. "Ore mi, I don't know o," she answered. "Me, I want to buy rodo and tomato and shoko from the market." She listed and turned her neck to check on her 'baby'. "Is Sikiratu sleeping?" "Yes.", the third girl answered. They stood together and looked left, right and left again and then crossed. Follow them. Jaiye obeyed and crossed the road as well. He followed them till they got to a building with no gate. Two other girls in similar tshirts and mismatching Ankara sat on a mat with "wares" in front of them. Empty beverage tins, pulled out weeds, and tiny heaps of sand. "Come and buy your fresh vegetables. Shoko, tete, gbure." One of the market women advertised. Jaiye stood by a corner, watching them and wondering what he was supposed to learn from it. He watched more girls come out of the building, to the "market". He watched them pretend haggle and pay for their purchases with paper money. He watched the first set of girls set up a kitchen by the side of the kitchen and start cooking for their 'husbands' and 'children.' You can leave now. |
Ajiri groaned as she heard the sound of the door click as the Headmistress of Veritas Academy left her to talk sense into her ward. She never imagined she'd have to ever give this kind of talk to Temi. Tomini, maybe. But never Temi. She turned in her seat to look at him. His broken glasses dangling from his neck, his torn T-shirt and bruises on his face. He had a scowl on his face, an impenitent one. His brows were stiched tighter than super glue could hold them together. His bloody, swollen lips pouted and the bottom one jutting out like a sore thumb. She sighed. As much as she dreaded the forthcoming conversation, it had to happen within the ten minutes the Headmistress had given them. "Temi, what happened?" Silence. "Please, I know this is unlike you-" "You don't know me," were the first words out of his mouth after over thirty minutes of silence from him. They slapped Ajiri harder than sour agbalumo would sting one's cheeks. She swallowed the hurt and mild anger. Getting angry would only worsen the situation. She watched him shiver in the room and pity and concern took the place of her anger. "Should I increase the temperature?", she asked. He spun to face her and she could see the hurt, venom and angst shimmering in the tears pooled in her eyes. "You're not my mother. So, stop trying to take her place!" "Temi, watch your tone," she gritted, holding back her anger. "You call yourself a lawyer, yet you can't get my mummy out of jail. You keep lying to us that she's coming out soon but you know it's not true. I know she's going to die. I know about the DDA," Ajiri didn't know when the gasp of shock left her. "I know they're going to execute her and you're doing nothing!" He shouted at her and the pooled tears spilled. "Temi-" "You want to know why I got into a fight. It's because I couldn't take it anymore. It's because Don Carlos is a jerk and a bully and he knows my mummy is going to die too. And he rubbed it in my face. And I am not going to apologise to him!" Ajiri sighed and wished she had sent in Iliya instead. I Getting the fuller picture, she was at loss on how to scold the boy. What else would a normal boy do when someone poked wisecracks at his mother? Maybe, the kick to the groin was a little bit under the belt. But seeing the size of the boy that was probably the only area on his body that wasn't insulated and shockabsorbed with fat. "Nonetheless, reporting to your teachers would have been better,"she said. He sniffled and bowed his head in shame.. "I tried to leave but he punched me and broke my nglasses. And then he said 'poor little orphan boy, what are gonna do about it? Cry to mummy. She is probably getting ready to die.'" "He said that?!" Ajiri gasped. The boy nodded and sniffled again. Silence filled the room as she mulled over how to handle the situation. "Aunty AJ," he called, jarring her from her thoughts. "I'm sorry about what I said." She saw his bottom lip wobble even as he bowed his head. "I know you are doing your best to take care of me, Tomini and Chris." |
Hiiiiiii guysssss ![]() How are you doing? So, I'm back. Tentatively. I'm managing Mumsy's run down tablet till I get a new phone. So updates might be a little less frequent than before. A very big Thank you, I love you and You're amazeballs to Khriztarl who checked up on me and the one person who sent in his or her widow's mite. So let's just say things are about to get a little bit more interesting. I've spent the last four months outlining and working on my writing skills to dish it to you guys hotter and better. Hang on to your life jackets cause this ocean just got riled up. Update will be by Saturday 4am WAT. Love you guys. P. S You're amazeballs. |
So with the prostration and the awesome update, I totally forgive you for starving us almost a month. Thank you, love. Nathan's a *pardon my French * dick. Selfish, self absorbed and unwilling to make sacrifices. I'm definitely in support of her dating Jamal, though I know Eni only has eyes for Nathan. Eni rile him up enough to make him realise you're all he wants. |
Hi Culin, Long time, no see. Happy birthday to your sister. I wish her long life and prosperity. May God bless her and keep her cause His face to shine upon her. So, so far. It's been intriguing. Your descriptions and exposition are top notch. Incredible even. But I have to say. I'm pissed. Call me rude or insensitive but I apologize in advance. This story has been progressing rather too slowly. I know we all have lives outside of Nairaland but girl, you leave us in suspense, feed us tidbits that barely satisfies only to leave us in suspense again for another 8 or more days. I'm a writer too and I understand but girl, please. Since December we've been going back and forth (permit me to borrow from your Eni). There's been too much of a drag. I'm sorry if I was offensive. I just have to be plain with you. Now, to bitch about Nathan. I wish he could just make a clean cut and spare Eni this torture. She deserves better. And Eni's heart can you kindly stop beating for Nathan. Thank you very much |
Well, well, well.... What do we have here? Destiny is playing a rather cruel joke on Dibbz. Advice: try Covenant or Babcock. Or better yet go abroad or online school. |
Mad o. I don't know what to say |
cricifixo:Awwwwwwn It's nice of you guys to want to do this for me. And I appreciate the thought. Not to seem like I'm soliciting but anything you want to give will be immensely appreciated. My account details: UBA, 2085756481, OLORODE I. D. |
Hi love.... Long time. Sorry for your loss. Hope you find a new beta reader. Once again you cut it off at the best part. And you are driving me to the point where I'll hate Nathan. Eni should grow a backbone and leave Nathan. If she stays around she'll just get hurt. |

Thanks for the update, love. Really, I want to be like Soki when I grow up. The resilience, patience and wisdom is uncanny for a twenty one year old. She's determined to make her marriage work and I think it can taking into consideration the fact that she and Dienye are friends. It makes things easier. This story reminds me of Yash and Aarti from Married Again. But it seems Dienye is more reasonable than Yash. I just hope Nengi wouldn't have to make an apparition before he realizes he ought to give Soki his total love. But marrying a man hung up on another woman is a terrible thing. Especially when she's dead. Competing with memories whether good or bad can be quite herculean. This kind of reminds me someone I know. His rapport with his ex is miles away from his relationship with his wife. Apparently, he married his wife to stick it to his ex for cheating. But then, his ex still comes around and they can gist from morning to night whereas he can barely relate with his wife. Guys, I really wonder how you do it though. Your heart is with another woman while you are with one woman. |
Hi dear... I swear you have a knack for cutting it off at the best part. You've promised to update on Sunday sha. We patiently await. As per lack of morale and little to no interaction from your readers. I think it's a Nairaland culture. It was the same for me when I started out. I'll tell you what someone told me. There are three types of readers on Nairaland: Guests who read and leave, registered folk who read and leave and registered folk who finally comment. Baby girl, as selfish as this sounds because I love updates, I'd say write on.We, your fans, we gat you. The comments will come that you wouldn't know where to start replying them from. Trust me. Just keep writing. Write because you love it because when the external motivation comes and they are clamoring for updates at times writing seems ridiculous, it's your love for writing and maybe us that will strengthen you. P.S. I love your work. And I feel Nate is being a selfish pain in the ass, taking advantage of Eni's condition and her love for him. At least it's my opinion. |
Hi, guys. How has the week been? Sorry but this is an official announcement that Ocean of Secrets will be on an indefinite hold. I was mugged yesterday and my phone was stolen. My manuscript is gone and I have no means of continuing for now. I'm still in shock and bingeing on Sia's Big Girls Cry. Once, I get a new phone I'll continue. I didn't want to be like I'm online but not updating. Love you, peeps. |
