you think so, let the change start with you, when your daughters are getting married do not collect anything. No be mouth we go use abolish am. My tribe takes 250naira as bride price.
hahahahahaaah.250 naira na small money na u seff...

Women do not collect their bride price, it is paid to the men (for people who collect); some cultures do not collect BP or return it.

In Yoruba land, the wife's family spends more.... should we say Yoruba men are not modern?
my dear, the truth is nobody owns anybody no matter what.but when a man is forced to pay so much just to wife a woman,my dear he begins to see dis woman as his property.my dear, its not a tribe thing but a family thing.some families will not even ask for fifty naira while some families will cut a man's neck..

You're a clown grin grin tongue ... Can we also say that women who sponsor their weddings own their husbands huh

Talk about bride price, who fixes the amount huh Who collects the money when paid huh No be men?
You men are the one that fix and collect bride price, so why complain? Also, For bride price to be scrapped, men (the elders) must be in support huh ...

So why all this fuss about bride price as if na d woman dey chop d money huh

if you say men are the head of the home, I agree..or say couple own each other as a virtue of the marriage institution, I agree too... not the property-owner thingy you just described...

Better still, I will even say they both have 'bought' each other life smiley
it is he who paid for d expenses dat owns d oda.unfortunately,in nigeria it is men dat does d paying most times.pls dont abuse me if u must quote me

like it's the brides that actually collect these dubious sum of money for bride price. A male friends sister got married the other day and when I asked him why they didn't object to this ungodly bride price amount knowing he would eventually go through same, he said he didn't have a say in the matter. It was actually his uncles who decided.
You men perpetrate this exorbitant bribe price, how you turn around and blame it on the brides is totally beyond me!
its not the wwoman's fault that a man has to pay so much for her,i agree but you cant blame the man for thinking he owns the woman after paying so much..me think abolishing this idea of brideprice will go a long way to curtail this possession mentality.

Some men want traditional women some women want traditional men. They should find each other get married and save us all this plenty debate jare.

Some women will die before they let their husbands cook or even change a diaper while some men will object to their wives contributing to family upkeep.

Modern women should be modern through and through this starts with rejection of the payment of bride price. A man practically buys a woman from her family and community in some areas, I saw one list almost a million or more self, he has to pay the whole community to marry the woman, some women would be flattered by that not understanding the significance of the process. A man who pays all that and does all the list thing would have some sort of feeling of ownership, he is expecting a woman who will play traditional roles not after paying and spending that much to have a woman shouting equality.

We women have to start from the Genesis of the inequality ; rejection of bride price and wedding list. The man has also been trained by his parents, what then is the justification of paying her family off to marry her? A marriage both of them are supposed to enjoy and build together.

I have heard women say they can only support their family at their discretion same way men would say they can only support in house work at his discretion too

It is a two way streak. If a couple wants to have some level of equality then start from the beginning, share bills and share roles.

Two grown adults should sort their marriage issues out.
gbaaaammmm!!!i like this response so much..truth is,when a man spends a million naira on a woman's bride price he owns you.if you want to be a modern lady, please be a total modern lady and stop the collection of bride price,if possible sponsor your own wedding.

op has a point.just because a woman was beaten by her husband doesnt mean he started the fight.some women are quick to slap their husbands, forgetting that men are naturally stronger..not supporting violence but i have seen severally were it was the women who started the fight, and when it turns out bad,she cried foul play...a man who beats up his wife without or with little provocation is an animal, but to say that all domestic violence is the man's fault is utter foolishness...

My dear, a great trouble is looming. I am actually seeing bakassi militants wiping d whole Fulani herdsmen in d east in the name of self defense. The presidency will not take it likely, it will launch an attack on d bakassi militants via it's military forces. Then, the whole south east will scream " injustice" and launch more attacks on d innocent Hausas living in south east. Then up north, an attack will also b launched on the igbos in the name of retaliation leading to series and series of attacks and counter attacks. Something needs to be done very fast before what happened in 1967 repeats itself. May all these not happen!!!

itsy:
My heart is so heavy and my search for a solution brought me here. Okay. For sometimes,i've been a little down emotionally because of some issues. Hubby asked me what the major problem is and I told him I want to pursue my career dream as I feel I let go of my goals in the process of working on my marriage. The issue now is hubby said no problem that I should pursue my career and he would sort himself out and that if I mentioned this earlier, we would have not been married. Pls, married people in the house, what does this mean? Matured minds only please
this is something you shoud have sorted out during courtship.never entertain the thought of a divorce just to pursue your career(word).i have discovered that if not for the economic situation of the country, about seventy percent of nigerian men will not want a career woman.my point is,your husband has fears that he isnt teling and you must find out his fears in other to concince him to alloow you work.please take note, men dont really enjoy exposing their fears to women.so you must understand how to push his mumu botton.the moment you push this botton, then he will comfortably tell yyou abt his fears...only

Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Asks Members To Write Their Salaries Amount (Private And Public Workers) by misreal(m): 4:50pm On May 01, 2016
Optimisticgondy:
Pastor preached about tithing in church today, and after sermon, he asked all salary earners (private and public) to stand.
To my utmost perplexity, he (the Pastor) directed the Secretary to start writing their NAMES and their MONTHLY SALARIES respectively.
Will he start coercing them to pay tithes to him personally based on their monthly salaries or what? Is it compulsory for a Pastor to know his members' salaries? What does he want to do with it?
These are some of the questions that ran through my mind in church then. Till this moment, I seem not to know his intention until next week. I wonder what churches are turning to these days.

Does anyone have an idea of what he will likely do with their names and monthly salaries?

i believe in tithing, but the drama was not needed.

Christianity EtcRe: This Churches Should Advice Their Member Of Their Dressing Mode To Church by misreal(m): 4:38pm On May 01, 2016
shayo401:
Informationhood talk about some churches who allow bad dresses and mention some, advicing them to talk to their members, i can't copt everything here as i didn't request their permition ti repost. if you care to read their full post you can visit their page, i ak only posting their mentioned churches here. informationhood mentioned 3 chursches is most affected.

Christ Embassy.
Christ Embassy has now take it for fun, People now called Christ Embassy the swag church, is this right before the eyes of God?. We now see young men of Christ Embassy with ear rings, perm hair speaking in tounges, hmm. The last time i checked, Christ Embassy was a fashion show Church all manners of dresses are accepted without telling them the truth. Believe me when i say the sins of this people will be on you for not telling them the truth. Your church suppose to be an Embassy that offer visa to heaven, According to it name.

If someone’s sinful boss can sack him/her off their jobs because of rough dressing style, how much more is God who is holy?

Deuteronomy 22:5 says: “A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

Winners Chapel Church
You suppose to win the heart of people and show them God’s ways, for them to gain ever lasting life, and called winners in Christ right? but the last time i check it only the pastors, church elders, church workers, and some members that dresses decent.

Winners is beginning to accept all kinds of dresses which is wrong, they no longer care about dresses. This is what i discover in you, it might have not come to the pastors notice that is why we are notifying you that you should address the mode of member dressing to church, Jesus says seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and then all the rest will be added to you. Salvation should be the most important topic. The dressing of this church is not encouraging especially the young ladies. The pastors and elders dresses ok but some of the young members between the age of 18-29 dressing doesn’t seem too good.

PLEASE ADDRESS THE MODE OF YOUR MEMBERS DRESSING TO CHURCH

1 Timothy 2:9-10 says: I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says: Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Latter Rain Assembly
This is my big daddy in Christ, God’s own chosen son. your preaching and the fact that you say the truth without compromising is what makes me like you the more, and i am taking after your bold step. There is still one part you haven’t touch sir, and that is the mode of members dressing to church. Recently i saw a guy with hair weaved, ear rings, another with cap inside church. Again i saw a young lady with a stinning touser and which doesb’t seem too good. I know that no one appear before the presents of kings with cap on his head. removing cap before kings or elders symbolise respect. If someone can remove his cap before elder or kings to show respect. How much more should we show respect to God the maker of all kings?. I also notice some young ladies mode of dressing are not right before the eyes of human talk about God, such as short wears, or light wears which look a bit transparent. You will notice this outside church, soon as the church close. It might not have come to your notice but i am bringing it to you now. The women and men, even some youths of the church dresses very OK, but some few young men and ladies of 18-24 of age are not much decent. Colossian 3:23 says: And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

U seem to be forgetting dat state governor have no control over the police which is a Federal agency. It was one of the complain they tabled to the president about how helpless they are to protect their people. How would u blame the governor when a reliable intelligence was given to the police before the attack? What more could he have done?
now u have a point.so who should be blamed, the police or the president..if the governo cannot be held responsible, then hold the police responsible.how can they be waiting for the president's oders before safeguarding the lives of nigerians.what if the president was in a meeting as at the time the attack was being plotted and carried out?
