Politics › Akiolu Threatens To Name Buhari's Enemies by missbehave247(op): 3:22pm On May 08, 2015 |
Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, is in the news again, this time threatening to name those who worked against the success of Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect.
According to Channels TV, the traditional ruler, who has been recently under fire over his anti-Igbo comments, made another threat as he spoke at the occasion to mark 2,900 days of the Babatunde Fashola administration.
“A lot of things have been happening now. Some people have been telling Buhari all sorts of things. Awujale and I have decided to meet Buhari because Lagos and South West states must benefit from the Buhari administration.
“People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings.”
The same people, he contended, have started pitting the duo of Tinubu and Buhari against each other the same way they set the former against Fashola, This Day adds.
Governor Fashola for his part apologized to those who might have been hurt as a result of his decisions.“To those that I might have offended, I apologise. For 2,900 days, I was called to make decisions every hour. I made decisions through treating millions of files on issues affecting residents of Lagos.I took those decisions in the best interest of the state. The decisions were taken based on the fact as presented to me.
“I could not have got all the decisions right. It is impossible. To those that we have not reached, please bear with us, the work will never finish. I am sure that our new governor will continue from where I stopped. This is the time to prepare for the change of baton. With the support of the residents of Lagos, your taxes, understanding and perseverance, honest criticism and prayers we may not have come this far.”
It should be recalled that speaking in the course of the launch of his book, after the governorship election , Akiolu insisted that Jimi Agbaje (PDP) would “never be the governor”. He noted, however, that Akinwunmi Ambode (APC) would perform “very well” adding:
“I told many people that Bola Tinubu planted the seed, Fashola came and watered the seed and it started germinating in geometrical progressions. We have just started.” http://www.naij.com/434974-akiolu-threatens-to-name-buharis-enemies.html

Unfortunately, Nigerian politics is filled with men who are not known for their good looks. But a few of them stand out, and Naij.com has compiled a list that will surely interest you. Read below: 1. Donald Duke: The former governor of Cross River State is a head turner any day, any time. 54- year old Duke, who is credited for initiating the now popular Calabar Carnival has this distinct boyish look that makes him a cynosure of all eyes when he steps into political and non-political gatherings. 2. Femi Fani-Kayode: 55-year old Fani-Kayode is a not only a politician, he is also an essayist, a poet, a lawyer and ultimately a “fine boy”. Known more in Nigeria’s political firmament as a controversial figure, the Osun-born, former Minister of Aviation, would no doubt be a darling of many ladies anytime he is on air granting interviews or hosting press conferences on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party. To add to his good looks, he also has a good accent and his mastery of the English language is second to none. Perfect ladies man! Femi Fani-Kayodehttps://global-4-lvs-odra.opera-mini.net/hn12-05-01/55120/1/-1/i.cdnnaij.com/181488867/ZPakWPN5qwHSNenlzW83vn0w.jpg
3. Umar Nasko: The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Niger State is one politician who could be mistaken for a model. Nasko, 40, lost the gubernatorial election in the state recently, but it doesn’t take away the fact that he is a handsome young man. No doubt, a politician for the future, Nasko attracted massive votes from the youths in the North-Central state not only because of his youth-centered manifesto, but also for his looks. 4. Senator Musiliu Obanikoro: Popularly known as ‘Koro’, Obanikoro has an imposing figure that will make Nigeria’s top models; Uti Nwachukwu and Bryan Okwara go green with envy. A very vocal politician, Koro has a body most of his peers will be jealous of. Tall, dark and strong, Obanikoro could as well be a successful model if he has chosen thatpart. Isa Yuguda: The outgoing governor of Bauchi state is one politician that does not look his age at all. An accomplished banker, Yuguda’s foray into politics did not stop him from getting the attention of beautiful ladies, as one of Late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua’s daughter warmed her way into the heart of the handsome governor. Always smiling, one would be force to think how this good looking man survives the murky water of politics and still keep his good looks intact. Crime › Suicide Bomber Strikes In Potiscum by missbehave247(op): 12:24pm On May 08, 2015 |
At least one person dead and 7 other sustained different injuries as a suicide bomber attack the College of Administrative and Business Studies in Potiskum, Yobe State.
A suicide bomber supposed to be a member of the Boko Haram sect has died in an attack.
The attack in the north-east Nigerian state also left seven people injured.
No group has taken the responsibility for the attack, but Boko Haram terrorists have carried out series of comparable attacks in the past in the north-east of Nigeria.
The injured people have been transported to the hospital for treatment.
In Friday’s attack, the gunmen arrived around 8 a.m and opened fire at the gate of the business school, witnesses said. Security guards armed only with clubs ran away, said the witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
According to Vanguard, three students were killed with at least twenty others injured.
A reliable source who witnessed the Book Haram onslaught said, the heavily armed insurgents numbering about five entered the school through the main gate after killing the security guard and opened fire on students killing three of them.
The source added that, one of the insurgents died as a result of I.E.D strapped to his chest that exploded, and injured over twenty students.
Other witnesses said that there are many more injured people: #BokoHaram business school attack in Potiskum – 5 students treated for gunshot wounds; another 45 injured trying to escape – details sketchy — Debora Patta (@Debora_Patta) May 8, 2015 Bomb blast and sporadic gun shots in CABS Potiskum Yobe; dear Lord protect the innocents and expose the culprits and their sponsors! — Taha (@geotaha) May 8, 2015
“We came out from lectures when we saw two people at the gate…he brought out a gun and started shooting ,” Musa Ahmed, a student at the College of Administrative and Business studies, said.
“The suicide bomber…detonated the bomb killing himself alone but six of students were shot by the man with the gun .”
It is the first school attack reported since a 3-month- old multinational offensive drove Boko Haram out of towns and villages seized last year.
Army attacks against the insurgents have increased after Nigeria shifted its poll to enable the military retake communities that the Boko Haram insurgents were seizing in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.
The military said it had retaken all communities in Yobe state under the control of the Boko Haram sect which had in the last five years tried to establish an Islamic caliphate in the area and also end western education. www.naij.com/435183-suicide-bomber-strikes-in-potiscum-kills-one.html |

They were arraigned before Justice O. C Akpaza of the High Court on four counts including criminal breach of trust, obtaining money by false pretence and abuse of office.
The accused who pleaded not guilty to the charges allegedly conspired and defrauded the Managing Director of Visioni and Strauss Nigeria Limited, Chief Duru Ejiogu, of about N60m.

Justice Akpaza granted the accused bail in the sum of N50m and one surety each.

Politics › Ngige Denies Rancour In APC Over South-east Interest by missbehave247(op): 11:44am On May 08, 2015 |
Senator Chris Ngige on Thursday in Abuja denied reports that issues of power sharing was threatening the stability of the All Progressives Congress in the South-East.
He said it was untrue that the Igbos were divided over the position of the Secretary General of the Federation.
Ngige made this known while interacting with newsmen at the sidelines of the visit of a delegation of Ohaneze Ndigbo to the President-elect, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
Ngige said, “We cannot say for now that our party has zoned the position of the SGF to the South-East because we have a standing committee that is still working on distribution of party offices.
“The import of what is happening, like you said, is that in the executive branch now, the South-East is not represented at all and in the legislature, we will not be represented because we have no senator from the South-East of Nigeria.
“We have two House of Representatives members who are not ranking and might not get any meaningful position in the end. “It is in that wise that the people you saw here last week and today again have been consistently asking for position of the SGF to come to the South-East.”
Reiterating that there was no rancour in their camp, Ngige said, “you can see we are a disciplined people in the South-East, forget about what people are saying in the newspapers.
“We have a caucus and that caucus has met on that position, we are only waiting for the party to officially tell us this is your position and we will submit the name.
“We have come to a decision but when we get to the bridge we will cross it; let the party say South-East this is your position then we will not waste even one hour in submitting a name.”
Also speaking to newsmen, Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Raph Obioha, said there was a feeling among the Igbos of political imbalance in the polity.
“There is a creation and a feeling of an imbalance in the political equation, there must be a tripod in the political equation of Nigeria but that tripod seems to be missing one leg.
“If it is not truly harnessed well, it cannot stand but Buhari gave the assurance that he would treat the entire nation as his constituency for all and we believed him,” he said. www.punchng.com/news/ngige-denies-rancour-in-apc-over-south-east-interest/ |

Politics › Speakership: Rep Warns APC Against Disqualifying N’west by missbehave247(op): 5:51am On May 06, 2015 |
One of the top contenders for the post of the Speaker, House of Representatives in the incoming 8th National Assembly, Abdulmumin Jibrin, on Tuesday cautioned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress against disqualifying lawmakers from the North-West geo-political zone from contesting the leadership positions in the federal parliament.
Jibrin, who is the current Chairman, House Committee on Finance, described as blackmail arguments that no lawmaker from the North-West should be considered as either the Senate President or as Speaker of the House of Representatives because the President-elect is from the zone.
He insisted that the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari from the North-West should not affect the zoning arrangement because he had been automatically excluded, having been elected before the party started discussion on the issue of National Assembly leadership.
He said, “In the first instance, we are getting the interpretation of the zoning arrangement completely wrong. The Presidency is not supposed to be zoned because whoever emerges is the President of the whole Nigeria. Muhammadu Buhari, was never presented as the candidate of the North-West.
“The whole idea is for the President to emerge first. After the emergence of the President, the six geo- political zone would have to sit down and distribute whatever position that are left particularly, that of the parliament.
“I think we need to get this properly right. There would be seven segments. Six are those of the zone while one is that of the President. This is really going to help the country when people actually realise that the President is not supposed to be included in the zoning arrangement.”
Jibrin further argued that Governor Rochas Okorocha would not have contested against Muhammadu Buhari if the post of the President was included in the APC zoning arrangement.
He said, “Although the President-elect is from the North-West but trying to exclude his zone from benefiting from the leadership positions in the incoming 8th National Assembly is very unfair.
Jibrin said his zone had the largest contingent of the state assembly members, Senators, members of the House of Representatives and even recorded the highest number of votes during the Presidential election.
He said, “What do we tell our people if you exclude us from the leadership positions in the National Assembly, simply because of zoning? We want the President to concentrate on the entire country. We want other offices that we will take back to our people, because they need to hold on to something.”
He therefore called on every eligible senator and member of the House of Representatives from the North-West to, “come out and contest the leadership of the National Assembly because it is our right and we should not be boxed into a corner.” www.punchng.com/news/speakership-rep-warns-apc-against-disqualifying-nwest/ |
Politics › I Am Still Enugu Substantive Speaker, Eugene Odoh by missbehave247(op): 1:02am On May 06, 2015*. Modified: 11:31am On May 06, 2015 |
The substantive Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, has decried the rumour making the round that he has been impeached by the factional members (G-9) led by Hon. Chinedu Nwamba.
Odoh described the speculation which was circulated on social media Monday afternoon, as legislative recklessness and impunity on the part of factional lawmakers believed to be loyal to the State Governor Sullivan Chime.
The Speaker insisted Nwamba purpoted action was illegal, and assured that the status quo remained, as he remained the authentic Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly.
While admitting that the G-9 constituted aquorum, yet argued that they could still not carry out impeachment against him, as they did not form two third of the House.
Early Monday morning, 14 out of 24 State’s legislators attempted to begin impeachment proceeding against Governor Chime due to alleged financial gross misconduct against him. www.blackface.com.ng/index.php/news-updates/4309-i-am-still-enugu-substantive-speaker-eugene-odoh.html |
