Deputy Senate President,Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has expressed sorrow over the death of pro-democracy activist, the late Mr. Emma Ezeazu, describing him as a social mobilizer who contributed immensely to the development of democracy in Nigeria.

In a press release by his special adviser (Media), Senator Ekweremadu said Ezeazu was forthright and tenacious in his faith in Nigeria’s bright future which could be achieved only by strengthening democratic institutions and the electoral process.

The Senator regretted that Mr. Ezeazu had departed just when the fruits of his struggle were beginning to manifest, adding that that the late activist’s Ezeazu’s intellect, patriotism and experience in
nation-building would be missed.

Emma Ezeazu was a former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who led Nigerian students between 1986 and 1988, the longest span of NANS leadership by one person in history.

Three men rode from Bauchi to Sokoto for 9 days to congratulate governor-elect, Aminu Tambuwal.

Somalia Mohammed, Nasiru Yau and Nuhu Ibrahim rode their bicycles for over 870 kilometres from Bauchi and arrived Sokoto by 11.00 am on Monday.
