I didn't engage the first part as there was an obvious knowledge gap (which can't be filled here) of what it means to 'own' and run a GP practice in the UK and the financial realities of that.

It's like saying being an academician does not count unless you own a string of universities or being a hospital consultant means nothing unless you own a string of hospitals. How does one begin to engage that?

I'm slowly beginning to like Starmer. Seems like a no-nonsense guy.

To me, two things stand out-

I'm slightly confused about this post. In your previous post you said that there was nothing wrong with removing people without valid right to stay.

No one here is crowing about deportations, except Labour who is trying to promote their much stricter stance on immigration. They're not just about public sector rises, housing reforms and other liberal policies you might want to cherry pick.

The removals were absolutely the right thing to do. But I did not promote them as I do other labour policies.

People voted for the improved quality of life promised by Labour. If immigration was the top issue, reform would have had the landslide instead as they have ,by far,the most extreme take on immigration,don't you think?

I am supporting Labour to deliver a good quality of life for the man on the street. That way they can see that bad governance was the problem all along not immigration. Reform Limited will lose much of its allure.

Let's crow about other more important things .

To be honest, I find all this immigration talk to be boring.

I am more interested in the nearly 3% public sector payrises,
the money being given to improve public transport(I ve seen a few new buses in my town) ,
the reforms Rayner is pushing in housing( no more nimbys!)
This might be anecdotal but I ve noticed a reduction in ambulance arrival times.

This is what people can feel and I m happy labour is going ahead with their plans.

Never mind the farmers and other wealthy people who whine about taxes.

My heirs will pay IHT at starting from 1 million and they will not have 10 yrs to pay it in. Unlike the farmers who start at 3 million and have 10yrs to pay it in.

They also have their hands out for subsidies . Where do they think the money ll come from? I don't have a lot of sympathy for them, I m afraid.
