Israel, Lebanon, Qatar and others , it is common practice for immigrants to relocate for work without their families. Many of these countries don't even have a route to settlement or human rights and yet they still attract migrants looking for certain types of work. The UK will be fine.
Is this the company we should be keeping? Children need their parents. I do not support the ban on dependents.

Gosh what are the markets doing? Was hoping for a smooth ride to the elections. Democrats better scramble.

Trump must not win. Disaster of apocalyptic proportions.

Permit me to add another flavor to the conspiracy brew.

Biden was indeed hopped up on something during the state of the union address but Trump ( who takes meth on a normal day according to people who knew him on the apprentice) shamed him so much that he refused meds yesterday.

He has slowed down considerably due to age and should have been primaried and put aside.

Trump is also in the same boat age wise as only 3 years younger.
(Disclaimer:didn't watch the debate, too busy with uk politics )

I'm not largely against the Japanese pattern. They stick to their guns and face the implications without moaning.

In Japan, house prices are less today than they were 30yrs ago. I.e for someone who took out a mortgage in the early 90's, after paying it up, that house is worth less today.
Unlike the UK that is getting fidgety over it's debt burden approaching 100% of GDP, Japan have since racked up debt with a debt burden that is 260% of their GDP.
While most other developed nations have seen good growth in a wealth measure (GDP per capita) over the last few decades, in Japan, its been constant.
Japanese wages have remained stagnant for decaded

Despite a tech giant with enviable industrial efficiency, many young folks still have to work long hours all in a bid to support the growing number of grey citizens.

The question becomes- can which of the outcones above can the British populce stomach? Of course no two nations are thesame but its when faced with such prospects that PM after PM bites the bullet and turns to immigration- not out of want but need.
Japan just released 3 immigration friendly visas. Did you know that? They ve accepted that to remain on the cutting edge, you need to let in the world.

I wouldn't advise it for any chocolate skinned person though.
I hear the racism is madt.

I hope there are no racists in the labour party too.
There might be 1 or 2 even 10, this being the UK.
But , it's not the unofficial banner of the party . Kier Starmer never said to a Jew " Burn them in the oven" . Nigel did this as a teenager. He was that wicked as a child.

If anything, he has gotten worse with age. Where is the Eldorado he promised with Brexit? Brexit is now costing us 3% of our GDP.

I find him utterly contemptible and feel sorry for the people of Clacton.

I also doubledare you to attend a reform UK rally ,even tripledare . Don't just type here, get involved in campaigning. See how you get on as a black person.

This doesn't surprised me at all, their views are inline with Nigel Farages. This will soon become normal that it will not be breaking news anymore. We are gradually heading towards MAGA way
It's a bit different over here. Thankfully, not many evangelical Christians which muddies the waters across the pond,.

Everyone in reform is out in force today putting out statements and disowning this member but we know the truth.

Racist scandals keep happening in just one political company limited, I wonder why.

Reform is an LLC with farage as majority shareholder. Look it up on company house.

Why is the Tory party always arrogant? You will never hear from them. They never reach out. It's been Labour and the Green Party.

Tufiakwa Ndi Conservatives.
All of this costs money to print. Then volunteers to deliver them to you.

The Tories have no money despite taking racist's money. They also have few volunteers ( who wants to be called names?)

Is this whataboutism? It's not a very productive method of debate even on a good day but it's even more not good now considering the scandal that's the tory party.

I don't think the Labour Party told this man to take cocaine now , did they?

Some ideological trends are difficult to reverse. Afterall, Hitler convinced Germans that jews were the cause of their problems. He and Boris by ensuring Brexit were huge blessings to the Nigerian community here. My small 9ja community balooned last year. We don get African shop join sef.

One thing I still dont get is why they have allowed immigration be a main issue at every election in recent memory when it's super easy to curb. Already, the birth rate is well below replacement rate plus with a good number of Brits ('expats' hehe) emigrating yearly, the population would naturally fall. On top of that, just end PSW visas for new entrants, a 20-30% levy on fees students coming over, end the care visa route and stop the NHS from employing oversees health workers and boom! Population drops, housing becomes cheap, stew everywhere! Japan is a shining example.

I wonder how every government over the last 20 years + have struggled to achieve what could be sorted in an afternoon. As I keep singing, the UK has never willfully chosen immigration. It's when looking down the loaded barrel of economic decline that they do- not out of want, but need.
Sarcasm?

I once had a similar challenge. I forgot to submit reading and received an estimated bill later on. I simply wrote to them in an email explaining I can not be held liable for an estimated bill and would only pay for what I consume. Subsequently I did not fail to submit my readings, they simply went and recalculated the bill and reminded me of the days I must send in readings. What I do know is that they can not ‘force’ any estimation on you. Just chase up with them via email.
And switch to octopus at the earliest opportunity

That one, republican political party before MAGA has some decency, some sort of moral, some individuals with digity THEN Trump steps in the party went to the dogs.

Its even shocken that majority of Christains are supporting Trump, not only in America even in Africa, Nigeria in particular.
It may be a question of access to abortion and contraception. Some people are 1 issue voters. They ll rather vote for a r****t ,felon and fraudster than accept a person's right to choose. Also LGBTQ . I would like to ask those "Christians" what would Jesus do if he met a gay man? What about "love your neighbour as yourself"?

For others, it's immigration. Trump is a well known racist so they ll follow him to the ends of the earth.

I've heard a few suggestions that Labour are holding back a lot and aren't putting absolutely everything they'll do in the manifesto.
You dont put everything in a manifesto. Who would read a thousand page document.

You only put votewinners and things that would be revolutionary and require an express mandate.

I am working class, use public services. I see no downsides from a decade of labour rule going from precedence.

There will be tax rises but since I only pay ni,income tax, vat and since capital gains tax does not apply to your primary home, I and other hardworking people are absolutely golden.

It's about time the wealthy paid their dues.

@Justwise,
Welcome back. Glad you are back. I (we) missed you.

Your absence (and explanation) has provided an insight into how Nairaland is run.
So the moderators & super mods do not have any means of communication with the Oga @ the top except via emails?

So all the mentions of the other mods, enquiring about you did not yield anything?

The sudden silence made me to fear the worst. I honestly thought something much bigger had happened to you. Well, welcome back.

PS: I sincerely entertained the thought that you had probably hibernated the Justwise persona, and reincarnated in another form (Most likely as Kumbhuru) to give us all a taste of what the thread would feel like, without a moderator.
