China on Tuesday urged NATO to "stop shifting blame" over the Ukraine war after the Western military alliance's chief accused Beijing of worsening the conflict through support of Russia. "China have all the right to trade with any country, as long as mutual understanding and respect is in place. An Enemy of NATO can't be forced on us all'' NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday called for China to face consequences for what US officials have called a major export push to rebuild Russia's defence industry. China presents itself as a neutral party in the Ukraine war, and says it is not sending lethal assistance to either side, unlike the United States and other Western nations. On Tuesday Beijing said that NATO "should engage in self-reflection rather than arbitrary smear and attacks on China". "We advise (NATO) to stop shifting blame and sowing discord, not add fuel to the fire and instigate confrontation, but rather do something practical for the political settlement of the crisis," foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing. China and Russia's strategic partnership has only grown closer since the invasion of Ukraine, but Beijing has rebuffed Western claims that it is aiding Moscow's war effort. It has however offered a critical lifeline to Russia's isolated economy, with trade booming since the conflict began. And G7 foreign ministers on Friday expressed "strong concern" about transfers of dual use materials and weapons components from Chinese businesses to Russia being used by Moscow for its military expansion. |
The story of Job in the Bible revolves around a righteous man named Job who undergoes severe trials at the permission of God. Job is portrayed as blameless and upright, with a deep reverence for God. Satan challenges God's assertion that Job's faith is unshakeable, suggesting that Job only serves God because he is blessed with wealth and prosperity. God permits Satan to test Job's faith by allowing him to strip away Job's possessions, health, and even his family. Despite these devastating losses and intense suffering, Job remains steadfast in his faith, refusing to curse God. Throughout the story, Job's friends visit him and argue about the reasons for his suffering: they suggest it is punishment for sin, but Job maintains his innocence and questions why he is being afflicted. In the end, God appears to Job and speaks to him out of a whirlwind. God challenges Job's limited understanding of the universe and reaffirms His sovereignty and wisdom. Job humbly accepts God's authority, acknowledging that his knowledge is limited compared to God's. As a result, God restores Job's fortunes, blessing him with even greater prosperity than before, and vindicating Job's faithfulness. The story of Job explores themes of suffering, faith, and the mystery of God's ways, ultimately demonstrating that even in the midst of great trials, holding fast to faith and trust in God can lead to redemption and restoration. In all of this, Satan touches everything that belongs to Job, but not his wife, what could have been the reason behind that? |

Mosquitoes, despite their negative reputation due to their role as disease vectors, actually play some important ecological roles: 1. Food Source: Mosquito larvae serve as a food source for aquatic organisms such as fish, frogs, and other insects. Adult mosquitoes are also part of the diet for many insectivorous animals, including birds, bats, and spiders. 2. Pollination: Some mosquito species, particularly those that feed on nectar rather than blood, can contribute to pollination of plants. They may inadvertently transfer pollen while seeking nectar from flowers. 3. Nutrient Cycling: Mosquito larvae help in nutrient cycling in aquatic ecosystems by feeding on organic matter and converting it into forms that are usable by other organisms. However, it's important to note that the ecological benefits provided by mosquitoes are often overshadowed by the significant health risks they pose as disease vectors. Mosquitoes can transmit diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, Zika virus, and West Nile virus, which collectively cause millions of deaths and illnesses worldwide every year. Therefore, while they have ecological roles, efforts to control mosquito populations and prevent disease transmission remain crucial for human and environmental health.

Russia has reacted to the accusation from Ukraine camp that President Vladimir Putin want President Zelenskyy to be assassinated. According to the Russian spoke person "this man thought he is on a movie role" this came shortly after Ukraine has detained two security officials allegedly involved in a Russian plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky, which Kyiv’s state security service (SBU) said it foiled. Two colonels in Ukraine’s government protection unit were accused of carrying out “subversive activities against Ukraine in exchange for financial compensation,” Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s office said Tuesday. Both colonels were charged with treason; one was also charged with preparing a terrorist act. The prosecutor’s office said one of the suspects received two drones and ammunition from Russia’s state security service (FSB), which they intended to transfer to another accomplice to carry out an explosion. The SBU said it had “foiled” the “actively developing plans” to assassinate Zelensky and other senior Ukrainian officials, including the head of the SBU, Vasyl Maliuk, and the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov. “One of the tasks of the FSB’s agent network was to find perpetrators among the military close to the President’s security who could take the Head of State hostage and then kill him,” the SBU said. Zelensky has reportedly faced several attempts on his life since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. A woman from the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv was arrested in August 2023 in connection to a plot to assassinate Zelensky. She was accused of gathering intelligence about Zelensky’s planned visit to Mykolaiv in order to plan a Russian airstrike to kill him. The SBU said it caught the woman “red-handed” as she tried “to pass intelligence to the invaders.” In April, a Polish man was accused of assisting another alleged Russian assassination plot against Zelensky. He was charged with “readiness to act for foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland,” an offense which carries up to eight years in prison. Prosecutors said the man agreed to provide information to Russian spies about security at Rzeszów-Jasionka airport, in southeastern Poland near the border with Ukraine, which Zelensky is known to use when leaving on foreign trips. The plot was uncovered by Ukrainian authorities and the man was later detained and charged in Poland. Aside from assassination plots, Zelensky has experienced a number of close shaves during his many visits to the front lines and cities under Russian bombardment. During a visit to the coastal city of Odesa in March, a Russian missile exploded close to a convoy carrying Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The group felt the impact of the strike, which landed around 500 meters away from the convoy, and saw a “mushroom cloud” of smoke. Five people were killed in the strike, although neither Zelensky nor Mitsotakis were injured.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a significant interception of American-made ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles. According to the Ministry's announcement today, Russian air defense units successfully destroyed 15 ATACMS missiles, with four being intercepted over the Crimea Peninsula on May 4, 2024. The US ATACMS missile was recently delivered to Ukraine to fight Russian troops. These interceptions were made possible by the latest version of Russia's Buk air defense missile system, the Buk-M3. The Buk-M3, renowned for its capability to engage multiple aerial targets under severe electronic warfare conditions, proved its effectiveness against the ATACMS, a longer-range missile system recently supplied by the United States to Ukraine. The ATACMS delivery to Ukraine was disclosed at the end of April 2024, with over 100 units reportedly provided to enhance Ukrainian strike capabilities. This disclosure came from The New York Times, which cited unidentified U.S. officials noting the secretive delivery of these advanced tactical missiles. The ATACMS family includes several variants, each designed to meet specific mission requirements. The missiles are equipped with different types of warheads, ranging from unitary high-explosive to cluster munitions, making them adaptable for a variety of tactical scenarios. Recent upgrades have focused on improving the missile's accuracy and extending its range, as well as reducing collateral damage by incorporating more precise guidance systems. These enhancements have solidified ATACMS's position as a strategic asset in the U.S. military's arsenal, providing a significant standoff capability and the ability to engage and defeat time-sensitive targets swiftly and effectively in various conflict scenarios. The possible use of the Buk-M3 against the ATACMS highlights a significant escalation in the technological warfare aspect of the Ukraine conflict, showcasing advanced military capabilities on both sides. As the situation develops, the strategic implications of these engagements could significantly influence the ongoing military dynamics in the region. The Buk-M3, also known as the Viking, is the latest generation of Russia's renowned Buk air defense missile system, designed to address a wide spectrum of aerial threats with improved efficiency and precision. Developed to replace older models of the Buk family, the Buk-M3 significantly enhances the capabilities of ground-based air defense by being able to engage aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones, as well as tactical ballistic missiles like the ATACMS. With an operational range of up to 70 kilometers and an altitude reach of up to 35 kilometers, the Buk-M3 stands out for its ability to target multiple airborne objects simultaneously under intense jamming conditions, thanks to its sophisticated radar systems and modernized fire control technology. The system's mobility and versatility are among its key strengths, featuring a rapid deployment and re-deployment capability that enables it to relocate and become operational within minutes. This makes the Buk-M3 particularly effective in modern, fast-paced combat environments where air threats can emerge suddenly and from multiple directions. Additionally, each Buk-M3 unit can track up to 36 targets and guide missiles at 6 of them concurrently, ensuring a high-density fire capability during combat scenarios. This multi-target engagement capacity, combined with advanced electronic countermeasure resistance, provides a robust defense against a variety of aerial attacks, thereby enhancing the overall air defense structure of the forces it protects.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, a pivotal moment for Nigerian students aspiring for higher education, recently witnessed a significant failure rate, sparking debates on where the responsibility lies – with students, teachers, or parents. This article aims to dissect the contributing factors and allocate accountability fairly. **Students:** Students play a central role in their academic success. While some argue that the failure is primarily due to students' lack of preparation and commitment, it's crucial to consider the broader context. Factors such as inadequate educational resources, socio-economic disparities, and mental health issues can hinder students' ability to excel in exams. In many cases, students face immense pressure to perform well, often resulting in anxiety and stress, which can negatively impact their performance. Additionally, the structure and content of the JAMB examination itself may not always align with students' educational experiences, leading to difficulties in comprehension and application. However, students cannot be absolved of all responsibility. Procrastination, lack of discipline, and a disinterest in learning can undoubtedly contribute to poor exam outcomes. Therefore, while external factors may influence students' performance, they must also take ownership of their academic journey and strive for excellence. **Teachers:** Teachers are instrumental in shaping students' academic abilities and preparing them for exams like JAMB. Effective teaching methodologies, comprehensive syllabi coverage, and regular assessments are essential components of a robust educational system. However, the failure in JAMB examinations highlights potential shortcomings within the educational infrastructure. Issues such as inadequate training for teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and outdated teaching materials can hinder the quality of education provided to students. Furthermore, disparities in educational resources between urban and rural areas exacerbate these challenges, leaving many students at a disadvantage. Teachers must receive adequate support and resources to fulfill their roles effectively, ensuring that students are adequately prepared for standardized exams. **Parents:** Parents are crucial stakeholders in their children's education, providing support, guidance, and encouragement throughout their academic journey. However, the extent of parental influence on exam outcomes is often debated. While some argue that parents bear significant responsibility for their children's academic performance, others contend that external factors play a more substantial role. Nevertheless, parental involvement in education, including monitoring study habits, providing a conducive learning environment, and instilling discipline, can positively impact students' success. However, it's essential to recognize that not all parents have the means or capacity to support their children's education adequately. Socio-economic factors, parental education levels, and familial dynamics can significantly influence parental involvement in their children's schooling. **Conclusion:** The massive failure in JAMB examinations underscores the complexity of educational outcomes and the multitude of factors at play. While students, teachers, and parents all play essential roles in shaping academic success, it would be overly simplistic to attribute blame solely to one party. Instead, addressing the systemic issues within the educational system, such as inadequate resources, disparities in access to quality education, and societal pressures, is crucial. By fostering collaboration between students, teachers, parents, and policymakers, we can work towards creating a more equitable and supportive educational environment, ultimately empowering students to achieve their full potential in examinations like JAMB. |

In the vast expanse of space, where darkness seems to dominate, the presence of sunlight might seem contradictory. How can there be sunlight in space, yet it appears so dark? This apparent paradox arises from the unique characteristics of space and the way light interacts with it. Firstly, let’s delve into why space appears dark. Unlike Earth’s atmosphere, which scatters sunlight in all directions, space is mostly empty. There are very few particles—atoms, molecules, or dust—in the vast void between celestial bodies. As a result, there are minimal obstacles for light to scatter off, leading to the perception of darkness. However, despite the darkness of space, the Sun remains a prominent source of light. The Sun emits an immense amount of energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light. As this light travels through the vacuum of space, it encounters little resistance and continues to propagate until it encounters an object. One might wonder then, why doesn’t the light from the Sun illuminate all of space, eliminating the darkness? The answer lies in the vast distances between celestial bodies. Space is incomprehensibly vast, with light taking significant time to travel from one point to another. While sunlight does spread throughout space, its intensity diminishes with distance according to the inverse square law. As a result, by the time sunlight reaches our eyes—or the sensors of telescopes—the intensity is greatly reduced, contributing to the perception of darkness. Furthermore, space is not completely devoid of matter. Though sparse, there are interstellar clouds, asteroids, comets, and other celestial objects scattered throughout the cosmos. These objects can absorb or scatter light, further contributing to the darkness of space by obstructing the path of sunlight. Another factor to consider is the human perception of darkness. Our eyes adapt to the environment we are in, and in the absence of surrounding light sources, the contrast between the darkness of space and the brightness of celestial objects like stars and planets becomes more pronounced. Thus, even though there is sunlight in space, the overall perception remains one of darkness due to the vast distances, sparse matter, and human visual adaptation. In conclusion, the apparent paradox of sunlight coexisting with darkness in space can be attributed to several factors, including the vast distances between celestial bodies, the sparse distribution of matter, and human perception. While sunlight does permeate space, its intensity diminishes over distance, and the absence of scattering particles leads to the perception of darkness. Understanding these dynamics enriches our appreciation of the cosmos and the interplay between light and darkness in the universe.

A former Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has suggested reasons why Russia is fighting Ukraine. He said Ukraine would have been utterly destroyed if not that Russia had been mild, limited and restrained in its attack, unlike how Israel took the war to Gaza. He also believes that NATO provoked the war in Ukraine, that Africa and Nigeria are experiencing the second slavery in the hands of Western powers "Russians were provoked into doing what they’re doing in Ukraine. Russia is doing it in a mild way. “They would have crushed the whole of Ukraine overnight but they try to be limited and restrained,” he said in an interview with Arise TV on Sunday. “It would have been a hundred times worse if they were doing a Gaza on them. It would have been much worse but thank God they’re not doing that.” On the 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in an escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War that started in 2014. The invasion became the largest attack on a European country since World War II. It is estimated to have caused tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilian casualties and hundreds of thousands of military casualties.
