HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
One of the main problems you have to overcome when creating Kindle ebooks is that of copied content. This is a challenge whether you are outsourcing or writing your books by yourself. Amazon does not accept content that is freely available on the internet. If you submit copied content, you'll be warned and a repeat may lead to the account being blocked.
This is a real concern if you are writing nonfiction.
Because:
-You cannot creat facts
- You must get material from already existing sources.

Here are my suggestions:
1. Get your materials from multiple sources -eBooks, physical books & reputable websites.
2. Ensure that every sentence and paragraph is properly rewritten. Even if you are writing recipes, d order of the ingredients can be changed and the directions written in your own words.
3. If you are modelling a particular successful book, make sure you do not use the exact format and presentation.eg your chapters and subchapters should have different titles.
4. Finally, Check the finished work with copyscape and correct any duplicate content detected. I personally use the premium copyscape account.

going back to the first book that was written and publish to redo it and relaunch it again.

Fiction and non fiction sells and your old book will only sell if its one of the best in that
category provided you got real reviews.

My first book, was submitted 08/21/2012 and you should note this, I've got only 2 fiction books
on amazon. As for me, fiction books will bring the cash for you fast and forget about competition
no one if buying a fiction book to learn something, they only wanna get entertained !

By the way, the book you gave a link to in page four of this thread has not sold even one copy since being published on November 7 (a week ago). When a book sells it will have an Amazon Best Sellers Rank. This one does not. Since you claim kindle "pays the bills @ least", I'll like you to show us a screen shot of your current sales so we can believe you.

@mk82, u talked about using the kdp select to do the free promotion, is it kindle that will do the free promotion for the book or I have to do it myself to get that many downloads for the books...
And also, do you have a particular day of launching the 2 days kdp select to get the most downloads or you just do it anytime u feel like...

1.Amazon does the promotion,u only have to set it up.Enroll or book in kdp select when publishing or after.
Login to your bookshelf, scroll to the right end of the book n click on manage benefits.At d benefits page, select free promotion n choose the dates you want.

2.I used to believe dat weekdays were better for promotions but experience has proved me wrong.Now I don't care about the days.

suxes2005: Work on fiction books more.

If you will ever publish a non fiction, make sure its the best and
it has what other books in that niche does not have.

better still, research a fresh niche to publish a non fiction in.

Fiction books sells like hot cake, though for a limited time but the
money I do make from fiction books within the short period of high
sales is better off 3 months sales from non fiction - maybe i'm unlucky sha.

My teaching on this thread is not based on luck or hearsay. I published my first book in June 2012 though I started gathering materials from November 2011. I've personally uploaded over 100 books (for myself n others).From personal experience, d experience of people around me, d books I've read n videos watched, nonfiction is d best category for anyone who wants regular kindle income.
I have said it previously. Fiction has a very high failure rate n d competition is high.
With nonfiction, you can find niches where you can publish books that will keep selling for years. Some of my last year's books have sold 300 to 500 copies so far this year n they will continue selling in d coming years becos they are in evergreen niches.

1. You can start without d payoneer card.
2. D bank details is for your American bank acct not local bank.
3. You have to fill the tax details as a formality. there is really no information to supply since u are a Nigerian. Just tick the necessary boxes and write ur name as the electronic signature.

For those of you that have started working on books, ensure your research is properly done. Don't just 'think up' a topic to write a book on. Make sure you research and find a keyword that is selling on Amazon kindle. Even if the niche is popular on Google or clickbank, Amazon is the ultimate test.
Another tip: Avoid niches where all d bestselling books are by celebrity authors.

henrimoto: @mk82. prof. i greet. when setting the pages of a nonfiction ebook, content page comes before introduction page, then the chapters follow. where do we set the copyright page ? any relevance for author's page ? what about this: instead of giving the whole part of the ebook as free downloads,you give a part of the ebook as free downloads...?

The copyright page is after the book title b4 table of content.
There is really no need for an 'about the author' page. l don't have it in any of my books. Check most foreign books.They don't bother with dat most times except for celebrity authors.
Don't b afraid of giving ur book away for free. It is a very effective promotion strategy dat will help you to get sales. Note- it must b d entire book or they will yab u in the reviews.

BENEFITS OF FREE PROMOTION
1. Introduces d book to d market.
2. Generates a buzz as those who got it free starts talking about it on Twitter, fb etc
3. gets d book on the d new release list on Amazon kindle.
4. Most books sell more after a promo than b4.
Two of the books I promoted for 2 days last week sold 22 & 30 copies respectively within 24hrs.

Not a day or so.I use 3 days. Some people use the entire 5 days but 3 days work for me. Good books will get anything from 900 to 10000 free Downloads within d 3 days. Giving away free copies gives you free advertisement and will attract many buyers afterwards.

The moment a book is published, I schedule a free promotion for three days. After d promo, there is usually a surge in sales if the book gets a lot of free downloads. If sales drop after one or two months, I'll use the remaining two days again.

Is there anyone that has questions on kindle publishing ?

To make it clear to all. I'll answer some questions directly here while some will be by email for reasons I have previously stated.

onlineresource: if i can try to be publishing at least 2 or 3 books per month which is my goal now
that means that by the end of the year, i should have 24-36 kindle books published...

even if 1 kindle is bringing in at least $10 monthly, that will be sweet passive
$240-$360 without doing anything apart from the first ground work in making sure that
you have a very good cover, title and marketing for the kindle...

This is the type of plan I give to my trainees. Kindle is a long-term project and a long-term earner.

Have a plan of publishing one book per week or two books per month depending on the resources at your disposal. You'll be surprised at how much you'll achieve in six months.

Don't judge your success with one, two or three books. You need to have at least six books in the system before you can start getting a reasonable income. Publishing both online and offline is a game of numbers. Big publishing houses have a budget for each year. They publish a certain number of books per year but their profit will come from just a few of them that will become bestsellers.

My motto is from the Bible... "Ecc 11:6 In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know what shall be blessed, either this or that, or whether they both shall be fruitful in the same way"

One of our group started in April. She had seven books up within two months. The first month, she made about N28,000. The months that followed her sales dropped to about N13,000 and she was disappointed. I had to beg her several times to upload another book. She finally accepted and uploaded it early September and it was like boom! It sold 70 copies the first day after the initial promotion and went on to sell 248 copies that month. It's priced at $2.99 so that's $496 from only one book that month. This translates to about N50,000 after tax and bank charges. The book is still selling. It had 100 sales in October and has sold about 20 so far this November.

I like the guy that said he uploaded a book just to test the system. At least he took action However, I'll advice you work on every book as if it's going to be a bestseller. My first book was published in June 2012, it is still giving me at least $20 to $40 each month. That is because I put my best into it. Even when I outsource, I read every line and check every full stop. I even add more material if necessary so as to bring the work to my standard.

You are not claiming to be an American. You are simply presenting valuable information to ur audience. Using a pen make just makes it easier for your audience to accept your work. For instance, most American actors/actresses modify their names. Do you know that the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series was written by various writers, all under the pen name Carolyn Keene?Carolyn Keene does not exist!

I have seen your books. Here are my comments:
1. You did not do your research on Amazon.
2. Your books do not have the proper formatting. For instance, no clickable table of content.
3. You used your real Nigerian name.
4. You used the same name for books in different niches. (this is a no no).
5. You have really made some effort, with proper training you will soon start creating books that will make good sales.

Correction u must register with ur real name.Ur check will be in d name u register wit. u are allowed to use pen names for ur books authors for convenience

Google is ur best source for materials u just have to type the right search terms. You can also try books, both electronic n physical.

Odesk is anoda place to get covers. it's usually cheaper when you do them in batches. odesk is gud for us becos there's no PayPal wahala like fiverr.

1.u need a dom Accnt to cash ur check.
2. u can write in different niches but don't use one author name for different niches.for example if u use an author named Jane Jackson for a book on relationships its wrong to use the same name for a book on science.

still on conversion software.I started with mobicreator. It's free online if u search. But I have since stopped using it. I upload straight from MS Word after doing the formating. Now I only use mobi creator if I want to use images. I can complete d book on my laptop,view how it looks in kindle format before sending it to Amazon.

On covers:
don't joke with ur covers.Some books sell just because of catchy covers. if u don't know how to use an image editor go n learn. Otherwise u have to outsource online or offline. Tip - use any biz center near u.

I started in January, and have 5 books up. The two fiction books I put up are not selling anything at all, but the non fiction books make me average of $10 a month. very low I know, I guess I have to work on the niches I am writing on. I know it is a long short, but I know people that make that much, and I know I can make that much with the right books.

I have noticed a tendency for Nairalanders or Nigerians to want free information. Please, I'll advice the [b]"inbox me the details" [/b]group to stay off this thread. Kindle is not one of those "online businesses" you have heard about. It has been giving some of us regular monthly income without additional work and it can happen for any other person who is serious minded.

The information I am releasing here is the result of over one year of publishing on KDP. One year going thru d grinding process.You don't want go through what I went through. I uploaded a book in pdf,everyting scattered when it entered d system so I had to research formating because buyerz started complaing and giving nasty reviews. One of my brothers had plagiarism problems and kindle almost banned d account etc etc

We had to invest in quality materials so we can learn. I have more than 4 GIG of materials on kindle publishing. The videos and several eBooks I and my friends have bought are more than $2000.

If I decide to write an eBook today and sell to Nigerians, it will not be less than N15,000. I have done one-on-one training for a few people at N25,000 and they are still thanking me up till today.

Please, lets appreciate what we have and not abuse it.
I am still here for those who need my help.

There are many software, just Google it and you will find them.
However, the software will not do the formating for you. It will only convert to kindle file.
I'll advice you all stick to MS Word. You can do everything in WORD. The most important aspect is d formating. You have to learn how to properly format your books. The font size,paragraph spacing,page setup,margins,table of content etc. It's a long tutorial dat I can't post here.Even if we are sitting face to face,I'll need 1-2 hours to teach it.

Payment for Nigerians is check. PDF is not a good format. there are software dat can be used to convert directly to kindle format.Ms word is also accepted. the only problem is to get the formating.

dat is d shortcut to account banning. Kindle is highly allergic to PLR,MRR and the likes.strictly original work dat cannot be found online easily.

henrimoto: @mk82. is it reasonable to have 2 price tags in euros and dollars for a book(s) ? since one is targeting the u.s. and uk/europe markets. or should it just be one price tag for every market ?

Yes, as long as you do not enrol in the KDP select program. KDP select last for 90 days.After each 90 days u can choose to continue or stop.
