Mk82 sir, pls I opt in for d amazon pay add 3days ago and my ad was approved, but I just checked my ad status and discovered it had been suspended bcs dey're having billing issues with my card. (I used my naija master card) pls can I use my payoneer master card? If yes..I have just $75 in it..how can I add more fund from Nigeria here.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Juwon, Yes, you should be able to use your payoneer card. I think you can add money to your payoneer card with your Nigerian card. I haven't tried it though. Another way is to get someone to transfer the needed amount from another payoneer card.

Alternatively, get a Visa card from Access bank (by opening a savings account) or UBA Africa (you don't need an account with them).
My UBA Africard works excellently on amazon.

@Mk82, please is the number on the column of the KENP read an indication of the number of pages read or how many times the book was read. I know it used to be how many times a book was borrowed. Thanks.
I answered this question in a post in pg39, July 07.
mk82:

Assume that any number you see under the KU/KOLL
Units or KENP Read column is pages read.
From my calculation, each page read gives $0.0058. This means you need about 172 pages read to get $1.

my oga, i uploaded a book and by the next day im checking. At the down side, its showing 257,000 somthing paid in kindle store. Does dat means im selling or it has sold or its just a format? and when i checkd sales report. Its still writing 0 unit sold. Please enlighten me.
If you haven't sold any copy then check the KU/KOLL units or KENP Read column. If you see some numbers there, that means some people have read some pages of your book. That is what gave it the Amazon Best Sellers Rank.

Mk82 the boss,

Pls I have a question.
Kdp has introduced paid ad on their platform, pls is d paid traffic very effective? Hope amazon's paid advert won't make free promo ineffective?
Just wanna know if I sud continue with free promo
Tnx sir.
I believe the paid advert should be effective if you can afford it. It is based on PPC (pay per click) model. However you have to start with a minimum of $100.
The free promo still works but not as effective as before. This is mainly due to the large influx of new books daily.

As a Nigerian, you have to pay 30% withholding tax to the USA from your Kdp royalty. This is because Nigeria does not have a tax treaty with America.

Login to your account and check on the upper right side, you'll see where to click to update your tax information. Go through all the steps to let them know you're in Nigeria, has no tax ID and choose individual as your designation. Also agree to give your signature
electronically and then type in your name as

I feel somehow sad/bad to read this post again at this time. The reason is because I was suppose to have a good number of books on Amazon by now and probably making some good money. But somehow, I failed to do so and I have to start all over again. The very week that I was suppose to republish my first book last year after it was rejected for plagiarism issue, my laptop was stolen!

I was like; what, why now? That single challenge affected me so much that I was not able to continue with the Kindle journey any more. But I have continue to follow this thread till date and now I want to stage a come back. This time around, I want to belief that nothing can stop me. Before this Month of July runs out, my first book will go live of Amozon.

You have always supported me especially when I had that coppyscape's challenge last year.
I will still need your support this time should I encounter an issue.

I want to specially thank you for this opportunity you give to us.

You are a good man.

God will continue to bless you, and that He will bless you forever!
Welcome back and thanks for your prayer. This time, be determined and don't let anything stop you. If you can publish at least 2 quality books every month, your account will soon be giving you good money.

1. Accurate research to find keywords/niches that sell.
2. Good quality and quantity content that beats the competition.
3. Proper formatting.
4. Professional, attractive cover design.
5. Rinse and repeat.

If you've done all these, your books will sell well.

Bros how much will it cost to write 10,000 and 5,000 words ebooks by a good writer.

You should be able to get good writers (on upwork) to write 5000 words for $40-50 and 10000 for $70-100.

Boss, I 've been following this thread for long now and have published three books (since 27th June) but no sales yet; though over 50 promo downloads.

Could it be the category? (one biz, the other two are e.r.o.t.i.c.a). I am a versatile researcher who is willing to work. I ask that you help recommend one or two well-selling non-fiction categories for me. Thanks boss.
Ero.tica is overcrowded, you'll do better with romance themed books with at least 10,000 words. It has to be written by native English writers though.
Business books may not sell if you don't have new information you're bringing to the table as well as serious advertising.
If you read my previous post, you'll see were I mentioned recipes as being good keywords for beginners. I know many people who have built substantial regular income by just publishing good quality cookbooks. Mind you, recipes are not just about food.

hello, i will like to know how we nigerians can get over the 30% tax when the money is sent to nigeria through EFT
The 30% withholding tax applies whether you collect payment by cheque or EFT. There is no way to avoid it. Nigeria does not have a tax treaty with the USA and the other concerned countries.

Make enough money and you'll never feel the impact of the tax!!!

If you are talking about kdp.amazon.com, Nigeria is definitely on the list of countries. Check again. You don't have to and shouldn't use fake information. Use your genuine details and the exact name on your ID (Driver's license, National ID or International passport)

good day everyone
please @mk82 my questions are
1. under what method is US PAYPAL ACC. is it EFT or WIRE?
2. I saw some english which i didnt understand, say you get paid after 60 days from the end of the month in which your cash meet the treshhold. does it mean i will have to wait even with my US PAYPAL acc. for 3 months before i get paid?

1 There is nothing like US PAYPAL act. for Kdp publishers. Payment is through cheque or EFT. I have told you before to read the thread from the beginning. Payment information has been discussed.
2. Payment for sales are made 60 days from the month the sale is made. Example: January sales are paid by March end, February by April end, March by May end.
Once you get your first payment, you will continue to receive money every month because you always have 2,months money in the system (as long as you make sales each month).
EFT payment does not have threshold. You'll be paid even if you make $1.

Good day every one.
@mk82 i checked the sales and i saw 1 unit sold but under the us sales i am seeing $4, what is happening?
secondly, if to say my money reach some appreciable amount, how do i withdraw it cos i didnt see any option which signifies that.
THANK YOU
The amount of sales does not always correspond with number of sakes reported on your reports page. It's usually an approximation due to time lapses. The final update is the one that comes at the end of the month.
To learn how to withdraw your money (in Nigeria), check previous pages of this thread.

@ mk82

Is there a way to view the money you earn from books borrowed?
You can only see the amount for borrows of previous months. Go to reports and click on "Prior Months' Royalties". The previous month's excel sheet is available from the 15th of each month.
However, from July 1st, there will no longer be number of borrows. Your Kdp select income will be calculated according to the number of pages customers read on your book.

1. When the free promotion ends, your book reverts to the chosen price automatically.
2. To check sales and borrows, go to your account, click on reports then click on Month-to-Date Unit Sales.

I'm writing a book on recipes and I downloaded some videos from YouTube. I'm writing the procedures of the recipes from the videos as I watch, though writing them in my own words. Want to find out if I won't be penalised for this.
No you won't be penalized. You can also change the title of the recipes slightly. Then check your work with copyscape.

Improve? In what way? I try to carry out extensive research? But if there are other ways I can use to get more positive results I'm gamed. Pls what are they? I want to do so well in this kindle publishing
You said 5 books gave you 3 sales and a few borrows (although you didn't mention how long ago those books were published). You should get more than that from 5 books if you have done a really good job.
Pick out the best selling 3-4 books under your niche keyword and use their standard to evaluate your books. Check the titles, cover design, chapter arrangement, quantity & quality of content etc then you will know what you have to improve.
If you can't beat them, at least match them in all respects.

For those here that have published with them, what payment options did you choose? Who bank do you have domiciliary account with? And how about promotion? Do you have blogs? If not, get one
Try to read the thread from the beginning, these questions have been answered. When you register with Kdp, the default payment option is cheque. Later when you get the payoneer account, you will add it and you can start receiving EFT. We don't use domiciliary accounts.

I stumbled on this thread last week and took my time to read through page by page. You guys are selfless for posting all of this free of charge. God bless you all.

I have a few question to ask though

1. How many pages will a 2000 MS-Word doc be when converted to Kindle format?

2. Do I need to set up an author central page before or after review?

3. Is it best to use Kindle cover page editor or should I create one of my own. I'm good with graphics.

4. Which cover design does best ; just texts well arranged on the page or text and images?

CC
Mk82
Zico0
Sarahn

1. 2000 words in MS Word (novel-like writing) will give you 9-12 pages. If it is in the form of recipes, you will get more pages.

2. You can set up an author central page at any point in time and edit as you like.

3. Create your own cover.

4. Look at the covers of the best selling books in your category and do something similar.

You can add editorial reviews through Author Central. You don't need anyone to write it for you. Just check what the best books in your niche have and write something similar. You can also quote content from within your book as well as some of the buyer's reviews.

@MK82, Is it good to have a fiction under the same author name as your non fiction books? What would be the effect on sales? Or would you rather advice the fiction be under a different pen name. Thanks.

Happy Easter.

Use a different pen mane. One person (author) is not expected to be an expert in everything. There is no limit to the number of pen names you can have.
