EroticDesigner:1. I don't use Kdp select adverts. I only do free promotions. 2. Preorders work best for already known authors. It generates a buzz before the release of a book and gives a sales boost when the book is finally released. 3. I don't use draft2digital. I use smashwords since they have better coverage and an older reputation. |

abistar: There are over 3.3 million books on Amazon KDP now. For a book by an unknown author to sell, you have to conduct deep research to find very good keywords and then set promotion for a few days. Sometimes, with the right keywords, you don't even need free promotions to get sales. |

twosquare: KDP select is very effective and it helps you to get more royalties. Some of my books that have only a few sales compensate by getting several borrows. The recently introduced Kindle Unlimited has really expanded the opportunities for borrows. Free promotions still help to bring in sales for new books as well as some of the old ones. 1 Like |

Bestlyf: Smashwords is good. It gives your books exposure to other markets that Amazon does not cover, like iBooks, Barnes & Noble and Kobo. However, you should not expect to make money on the level of Amazon. Amazon is the king of online publishing.I know some people who get about 20% of their income from smashwords. The best thing to do is to pick your books that are no longer getting good sales or borrows on kdp and publish them on smashwords. You have to remove them from KDP select and wait for the current enrollment period to expire. You will have to learn how to format for smashwords. The necessary guides are on their website. Smashwords pays through PayPal and payment is every 3 months. 1 Like |

Sweetmarriage: The first question has been answered above. A way to know how much you will be paid for borrows is to look through the Kindle Direct Publishing Newsletter that is sent monthly. For the second question, visit the following page http://selfpublishtoday.com/author-central-tutorial/. The tutorial is good. |

myhoodlink:Hi poster, I will like you to edit this post to remove the part where you offered to pay for reviews. This is an open forum that gets international traffic and this kind of post can get negative attention. A number of people have lost their Kindle publishing accounts by violating Amazon's terms and conditions (I will write a post on that later). You can get people to review your book without offering money. Simply send them a copy of the book and ask for a honest review. Sample: Can anyone please help me write a review to a book on amazon? "diary of a teenage murderer" I can send you a copy so you read it before writing the review. 1 Like |

G12: There are other territories (countries) grouped under the USA. So even if you choose 70% royalty for USA, when your book sells in some of these territories, you can only get 35% royalty. Check out the image I attached. 1 Like

tooltip:I know someone who published about 90 books in 6 months and they are all quality books. That is almost 4 books per week. It is possible if you have the knowledge, practice time, the required writing/editing skills and the correct strategy. You also need a lot of cash and a good team of freelance writers. 5 Likes |

henrimoto:Focussing on the UK market is not a good idea. Kindle money is in the USA. The US has 5 times the population of the UK and greater Amazon patronage. My UK income is usually about 10% of what I make in the USA market. Even after tax, the USA market still gives 7 times the UK market. Practice my research method over and over, and you'll soon know how to find simple niches with good sales. 2 Likes 1 Share |

G12:For outsourcing at minimal cost, go to odesk.com. You will get writers for small books from $30 upwards. However be ready to do serious proofreading and editing to fine tune the book. Concerning the tax issue, I think the letter is sent to every Kdp publisher. It is a compulsory formality whether your details have changed or not. On 31st, Dec, login to your account, click on your name, click on "update tax information" then go through the process and save. henrimoto:Sales and borrows are paid at the same time. Click on Prior Months' Royalties to download the excel sheet of that month. Anywhere you see KU/KOLL, follow the line to the right. You will see the number of units borrowed and the amount paid. 1 Like |

Iytech:Seasons greetings to all. Knowing celebrity authors is simple. Check the book description and editorial review. Celebrity authors usually have a popular website, radio/TV show or newspaper/ magazine column. Their books are not selling just because of what they wrote, the sales are influenced by their personality and popularity. 1 Like |

Bestlyf: When your book is enrolled in KDP select, you have the chance of getting paid for borrows on KU/KOLL which is usually about $2 each. You also have the chance of promoting it again when it stops getting sales (if you still have promotion days left). The only reason for removing your books from KDP select is if you want to publish it on alternative platforms like Smashwords. 1 Like 1 Share |

P3trCruzZ:Here is the short answer to your question --Yes! Kdp is still very lucrative and will remain so for many years to come. When I have time, I may give the long answer. Check my post above where I said you have chosen a tough niche. That is a major mistake many people on this thread are making. |
Business / Re: Making Regular Income Publishing Amazon Kindle Ebooks by mk82(m): 3:48pm On Dec 12, 2014 |
Bestlyf:There's nothing that stops you from promoting the book. I've had books that got up to 3 sales or borrows before the day I set for promotion. The only risk is that the buyer may return the book if he sees it on free promo. However, it's better to take the risk of one returned book and promote your book to the 100s and sometimes 1000s of potential buyers that will see it during the promotion. 1 Like |

P3trCruzZ: Congrats on your first book. In addition to other comments, check the following portion of your description. " Does trying to get a grip on how to understand ways to maintain your child’s weight but just don't know how to trying to make your life difficult... maybe even miserable?" The sentence is confusing. Try to make it simpler. Secondly, you have chosen a tough niche. Next time choose a niche where you don't need any special qualifications. You can write simple books that provide easy and immediate solutions to the problems of many people. That is one of my secrets in kindle publishing. 2 Likes |
