Someone sent me a nairaland email. Please send your request to the gmail on my profile.

CosmicJames:
Boss, I really appreciate you for you speedy reply. Thank you very much. You just revived my spirit in KDP. I waso fast losing interest in this whole thing.
I get the point. I will keep to ur advice.
About unpublishing the book?
If I unpublish it now, rewrite it accordingly as in adding/removing some of the contents to make it unique without changing the cover and title and publish it later, will they still have issues with this particular book?
The reason I'm asking this question is because I want to remove the book and then follow that instruction you gave on page 5.
Once again, thank you for the good work you are doing and that you are it for us free of charge.
ecomerceguru:
What you have to do is make necessary changes, pass it through copyscape and when you are satisfied with the outcome. Re-upload it and re-publish. If it pass copyscape, kDP reviewers would surely accept it. Nice, seeing this thread back. It has always been a source of my Motivation and inspiration. Kudos to MK82!
This should work. Try it and give us feedback.

CosmicJames: Like I earlier said, my first book should have being live by tomorow but somehow, Amazon pause the publication saying they needed info from me.

I don't really understand how they mean and the right action to take now.
Here is the mail I received from them and I quote

"During a review of your KDP submission, we found content in your book that is freely available on the web.  Before we can publish your book, you need to take one of the following actions within five days:

1.      If you hold the publishing rights for all of the content in this book, resubmit your book for publishing following the instructions provided below.
2.      If the book is in the public domain, please confirm the initial publication date of the work and the author’s date of death. We will contact you if we need additional information.
3.      If you do not hold rights for all of the content in this book, please remove the book following the instructions provided below.

If you publish books for which you do not hold the electronic publishing rights, your account may be terminated or you may lose access to optional KDP services. If your account is terminated, all of the books you have uploaded through KDP will be removed from the Kindle store and you will not be permitted to open new KDP accounts.

Regards,

Kindle Direct Publishing"

Honestly, this is discouraging as it is my first time
@ Boss MK82 what should I do now, which action I should take? Thanks in advance

First, go to page 5 and read my post on "HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM".
Your book failed the plagiarism test. If it is a recipe book, you can reply them that you own all the rights. But this claim will be difficult to make for other niches. You may have to unpublish the book.
Next time, make sure you properly rewrite any material you are using and also test with copyscape.

Bestlyf: @mk82, is there any explanation for why kindle sets a different price, which is usually higher from what one set for his book? Like you set $2.99 and kindle set thiers for $4.99
I have answered this question previously. The USA price also covers other territories (countries) that do not have their own marketplaces. The price difference is based on the different internet sales laws of those countries. You will notice this when you browse with some IP addresses. If a USA IP is used you will see the normal price.

Take it or leave it, this is one of the best tutorial as far as kindle keyword research is concerned.
I have more than 20 WSOs on kindle publishing and tell you what, this is what all of them do elaborate
on when it comes to kindle KW research.

@op, you're doing a very good job here.

@all, I will use this method once more, get a keyword, update everything right on this thread
and we will all see if its real or not.

Like op said, it will be fun to see more Nigerians making a killing on kindle.

I make some change on there but with what the op said few replies back, then I guess I'm still
making little for real. Its 2014, let's work smart and make the damn money online !

SHALOM

Hello Akpan,
I'm happy you took the bold step to publish your book.
It's true your cover looks too "homemade"
My real comment is that you chose a niche that is very challenging and you need a high standard publication before you can succeed. I suggest you look for simpler niches in future.
Don't get stuck on your mistakes.Correct what you can and move on to the next book. Your quality will improve with practice.Remember kindle publishing is a game of numbers.

Opengates:

@MK82: please respond to this due to your experiences. How far can this be true?
Bestlyf: @Mk82. I just downloaded my transaction report
November 2013 for my first book and discover that during
the 2days period of free promotion Amazon sold more
than 300 of my books at a price higher than what I set.
But after the free promo was over, no more sales. \Right
now my second seems to be making more sales for
amazon than the free download I am getting. Doesn't it
stand to reason that it is better not to promote your books
at all or register with KDP select? Since it seems you lose
money in the process.
I got this information from "Prior six weeks royalties" of
my report page. Of what relevance is this report?
I wanted to answer this question at that time but was under antispambot ban.
Now, in the "Prior six weeks royalties" page, the column for units sold and net units sold can show either free downloads or real sales. You can easily see this under transaction type.it will be standard or free promotion.

For real sales, the royalty type will show 35% or 70%. For free downloads, it will be N/A.
The over 300 sales Beetlyf referred to were free downloads.

Now about amazon selling more than your set price. When you set the USA price, it will be used for other territories that do not have their own marketplaces. The cost of selling those books in those places will be higher than the USA price. This because of the different laws of those countries. Sometimes, you get only 35% royalty from some territories even if you chose 70%.

ecomerceguru: Thanks Op for the Tips...I am having problem with payoneer, its been 3 weeks now I applied and they haven't sent a comfirmation to me yet. Even after scanning my Passport and Sending my passport. What Should Be the Problem @Op. Thanks
1. Did you apply directly on their website? It's usually faster.
2. It could be because you used international passport as ID.it does not show address like national ID or driver's license. A few people l know had similar problems. If you register with the same address and name on your ID, your card will be approved within 3 days and bank account about 10 days.

Copyscape is a website that check for duplicate content online. if you have an article or a book you want to know if its original you pass through copyscapedotcom. that way you will know you have an original book content. Copyscape charges you for every article you want to check, but this is how I do it for FREE

Note:To do this convert you book content to an .html file,
upload it on a web-host, use the link, visit
copyscapedotcom, you would see where to put your URL.
Paste the site address and voila! Very Easy
Do not bother converting to html for the free copyscape test. Just create a free blogger blog, paste your book content as a post and use the URL of the blog to test on copyscape. Delete the blog post afterwards.

My Advice is that if you really want to take this business seriously, pay for the premium service. $5 (~N800) gets you 100 credits that you can use for up to 30 books. That's N8 per credit. I use average of 3 credits per book. I test 2500 to 3500 words per credit.

The free test is not as thorough as the premium. Sometimes some errors will slip through and you will have problems with amazon. This happens usually with recipes. When you use premium copyscape, every duplicate content is highlighted so you know exactly what to change.

deasy: Wow!
Am so so much happy to find this thread after lots of research on how to "Write amazon kindle easily"
Thank God I find it here!

Please,here is my questions:
Is it right to copy and spin some informations on PLR,MRR and public domain works, articles or ebook?

For example, If I wanna write on recipes...can I copy from other peoples work (like a PLR articles/ebooks or a Public domain work) and spin them and change them to look unique?
Mind you these recipes I wanna write on, have not seen or tasted them before.
Yes you can do all that. Just make sure you get materials from diverse sources and add your own touch. Do not just rewrite a particular PLR/MRR ebook.
***Do not spin. Rewrite the material and make a new "original".
One other thing, check your work with copyscape before you upload to kdp.

You don't have to save in the web page filtered format.Just save as MS word 97-2003 and upload directly to Amazon.
Business / Re: Making Regular Income Publishing Amazon Kindle Ebooks by mk82(m): 1:15pm On Dec 31, 2013
Bestlyf: @mk82, what does it mean when a book has amazon best ranks 304, 199 and is first on Amazon front page of a particular niche.
Amazon best sellers rank is the arrangement of books according to the sales they have made within the past 1 hour. The No. 1 book is the one with the highest sales followed by 2,3,4 and so on. A book with 304,199 is selling about 1 book per week or less. If it is on the first page of the niche, that niche is not good. Check kdpcalculatordotcom.

ecomerceguru: For those looking for niche goldmine. Go with cookbooks, especially paleo diet foods, veggie lovers foods, hot sauce etc. They are goldmine, if you can produce a quality book in this niche, you can make 1000 dollars your first month. This is a pointer. And I am currently working on one right now, cheers. 2014 is our year of double folds, Amen.

Yes, it's true that paleo an vegetarian recipes are hot but they are also competitive. If you want to go into these niches, you have a lot of learning to do. I had to almost become an expert in these diets before I could publish successful books. If you mistakenly include one or two types of food they don't eat, an avalanche of bad reviews will descend on you. Even if you outsource the book, you must go through it line by line to filter the ingredients.

***Compliments of the season to the public and silent followers of this thread. we will all have a greater 2014. I've been away for a while because of antispambot ban. Thanks to those that have been answering questions when I couldn't. The two deleted posts on page thirteen are mine.

Appliedmaths.:
My reports is not too encouraging. I started with one of the most difficult niche(christian books) and so far so good I have two books with 54 and 59 free downloads, but still no sales.

The book that had 16 downloads later ended up at 54.

Working on my normal fiction and non-fiction, I'm pretty positive about this niche.

Although I used the two christian books to test run the kindle program, but truth be told I didn't plan to be a flop.

Not really discouraged, when I drop my two new books (fiction and non-fiction) then I'll really know what lies in for me.
Sorry to hear your books have not done well. Please go back to the page where I explained my research method in details. If you follow that method, you'll surely discover some 'juicy' niches.
Whenever you want to do a new kindle eBook, switch your mind to neutral mode and let Amazon tell you the topic to write on.
@all please stop "testing the system" with a random book that you will do anyhow you like. Put your best effort into any book that you want to publish. You will surely be rewarded.

darmochy1: My book has been approved and enrolled for kdp select. It had only 109 downloads in 24 hours. I don't know if that's good or not. OP what do you think?
109 is not much but it is also not very bad for 1 day. Download volume depends on niche. You should still get a few sales.
Business / Re: Making Regular Income Publishing Amazon Kindle Ebooks by mk82(m): 9:47am On Dec 19, 2013
Bestlyf: @mk82. How far can a book go in the kindle market place without a review and what's responsible for a book not getting a review at all?
Once a book starts getting sales, it is natural for a few reviews to appear. Most buyers don't go back to write reviews whether the product is good or bad. This means you have to wait until you get expressive buyers. Reviews usually appear quicker for books that are exceptionally good or bad.
I have had books that sold more than 100 copies without any reviews.

I have had one sale.

I have a question. If I enroll in the KDP Select, can i change my mind and opt out? what would happen?
Why did the book fail review? Didn't you do copyscape test?
You can opt out from kdp select at anytime but the current enrollment (90 days) must be fulfilled. Just go to your dashboard click info beside the book and remove automatic renewal.

Thanks for answering my questions, I have more...lol

1. From your experience, is it possible to find someone on fiverr ..who will edit raw ebook content to give it table of contents, paragraphs and also do proof reading ...all at once? I ask because I have a full time job so I do not have time to edit my content, plus I am not an english professional so I feel I may not do a good job at that.

2. What is your take on using free ebook cover design software, will having pictures on the ebook cover help in increasing sales..?
1. you may not get someone to do all that for $5.You will have to order different gigs. The size of the book should also be considered. odesk may be a better place to check.
2. You can use the software as long as you are satisfied with the results. Yes, using appropriate images is recommended for covers.

hamlak: 3 Books now on Kindle. 2 to go for the month.

'hope you've started seeing some sales.

@MK82 You Have Not Answered My Question
You can only review a product on Amazon with an account that has been used to purchase an item.
Just load your visa debit card with some money and buy the cheapest thing you can find. You can send the item to anyone you know in the USA or Europe.
The moment your purchase is aproved, you can write reviews even on products you did not buy.

Kingokanu: @ MK82:

I have some questions:

1. I outsourced some content writing for my ebooks, so i got the authors to give my their autobiography and hand over full copyrights of those contents to me. Since you suggested using pen names, how will can I edit my copyright page to work with a pen named author?

2. I came across an article that says one can submit his or her ebooks to multiple ebook stores apart from kindle: barnes and noble (nook), sony reader, google reader, ibook store/ i tunes...etc.

do you have any experience in that aspect?
1. whether your book is outsourced or self-written, you are free to choose any pen name you want to use. That name will appear as author and in the copyright. Freelancers know that they have no claim to the work once you have paid them.
2. Your books will be submitted to most of those places if you register with smashwords.com. From what other indie publishers say, do not expect too much sales. Amazon Kindle store is still the king. I plan to upload some of my books to smashwords in January to test the market.
PS. any book you want to publish in other stores must not be enrolled for kdp select.
