TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by mmanwanyi: 3:21pm On Aug 27, 2019
The issue of going back to school depends. For the Phd person he may or may not. But most likely than not if he decides to continue with Academia a research program of some sort in his field again will get his foot in the door. A post doctorage degree or research will help immensely to beam a light on his path. Remember Canada is not a place where professorship is handed out politically so he has to be willing to put in a lot of hardwork and prove himself. These things are not cast in stone. A lot of people had relocated and gone back to school or tried to get relevant certifications while others have been employed with their Nigerian based experience and certifications. The most pertinent question one has to ask themselves is the reason for relocating to Canada. Most people relocating already have jobs in Nigeria hence the title "skilled migration" so just getting a job is usually not the reason for making such life changing decisions. If one can delineate the reason for migrating then one will be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed there whether go back to school or not.
Eddygourdo:
thank you very much for a very detailed response to my also detailed questions. I appreciate you. Well my question on life and all was actually related to possibilty for getting jobs in Canada and all. I am well aware about the need for Canadian experience as well as degrees. Thus why I felt to ask if someone with a PhD would still need to acquire another degree (Canadian) before suitable work can be found.

The entire aim of relocating is to be able to at least find something doing and create a better life unlike waht is obtainable here In Nigeria.

At current rate for the person in profile one, at most in 6years will be a professor if one remains in Nigeria. Now leaving that to become unemployed in Canada and unable to fend for the family is truly scary.

This is why I am asking for informed advise on the possibilities of getting a job upon successful immigration for profile one and two.

Thanks and God bless

Let me comment on the success of their migration to Canada. If you use the CRS scores
1. Profile No 1 - With the assumption of IELTS results score LRWS - 8,7,7,7 for both him and his spouse, HE has a great opportunity of succeeding in the migration program as his estimated CRS score is 464, which is within range of those issued ITA recently.
2. Profile No 2 - Is also in this same range with Profile no 1. His chances are also excellent.
3. Profile No 3 - However due to age is a bit disadvantaged. If you simulate the scores using the estimated IELTS score he will be in 427 which is quite low considering the current draws. So he might need to max out IELTS and also look at writing the TEF. This is not to say there are no chances for this profile because as a chartered accountant she might be opportuned to be selected by the any of the province while in the pool. Ontario nominated a lot of chartered accountants under the Financial Auditors and Other Financial Officers recently, this is a section which she can fall into seeing that she works in a bank.
About Life prospects, Life is what one makes out of it. All I know is that Canada is an organised place that if anyone put enough effort you will be ok.
Eddygourdo:
Question for people with experience.

Those who are in Canada. What are the life prospects for someone with these profiles.

1. Primary applicant has the following degrees, PhD, M. Eng, B. Eng, cumulative of 10years post graduation experience with 4 as a practising engineer and the recent 6 as a lecturer (senior lecturer). Primary applicant is married, one child, wife is a graduate (b. SC), with brief work experience. Husband is 33, wife is 27.

2. Primary applicant is a banker (microfinance), MBA, Bsc. Single , male and never married, thus will have to leave alone. This person is 30.

3. Primary applicant is a female, 37, single and never married, has 12 years experience as an accountant (principal accountant), she is ACCA chartered, has the following degrees, MBA, B.sc.

Anyone with experience of the Canadian life and experience in terms of job prospects and ability to settle down, possibility for success in the immigration to Canada endeavour etc.

I will like honest submissions from people on the three profiles. Thank you

Please for folks in Mississauga and environs, the Catholic school in this area is telling me that I cannot enrol my kids in the school except they bring their Catholic Baptism certificate or my own catholic baptism certificate. Please do I have any other option apart from baptising these kids in a Catholic church or myself in order to get this certificate as I am not Catholic and I really want them to attend this school?

If the clause you are talking about is that type that GTB guys put in their FD letter. Please my urgent advice to you is head to the Bank immediately tomorrow, liquidate that FD, print your 6 months statement of account and submit. That clause they put in makes it look like your FD or Tbills is encumbered. Ppl in CIC will not take chances. The best proof for you is to liquidate the funds, leave it in your account bulk that way and print your statement of account. Someone had this kind of issue last year and was denied cos she didn't liquidate the funds and kept attaching the FD letter with that terrible clause.
Maggiechi:
Good Morning my people. Please I need your guide.

I received ADR last week to provide additional document for proof of funds due to a clause in the treasury bills letter submitted with my application in February that the principal can erode... Luckily, the treasury bills matured two days after receiving the ADR, so I moved it to Fixed deposit and attached the time deposit investment letter from the bank, statement of account to show when the treasury bills matured and is re-invested in time deposit and an explanation letter detailing the conversion rate (although this time, I excluded the pension funds initially added to buffer my proof of funds because the face value of the matured treasury bills is sufficient for my family of 3). I submitted the additional document on MY CIC account last week.

This morning, I received another request from CIC giving me a final reminder to provide additional document in relation to my declaration of having the required fund and to provide a written statement detailing the source of funds.

Please note that during my application, I attached a deed of sale of landed property owned by my spouse but that is just about half of the total POF and I noted that source of other funds was from our personal savings- this was in February.

Please guide me on what to provide in response to the final reminder sent to me this morning and details to include in my letter of application.

Thank You.

You know when I saw people happy with the call out. I shook my head. But then with the new attitude here people are going to stop helping, everyone will go their way. He didn’t even look at it that if this guy had helped someone a problem might have prevented him from helping this time around. He just called him out and others laughed. If the guy didn’t want to help you don’t you feel he would have deleted or blocked you on WhatsApp? His phone might have been stolen or something but No, you felt he was so terrible as to just read your messages and keep it moving. The energy on this thread is getting terribly negative and it will soon make people keep away and in the process vital information will be lost. But I guess it’s what you guys want sha....
Influential101:
He was hot cake as you said and helped other people meaning he isn't as you described yet you had to call him out in that manner....Because the help didn't get to you, he's now a terrible person.. You don't even know why he didn't respond at that time.. Gosshh

I'm even more worried about people liking your post and quoting you.. Like people are happy when someone is called out and shamed kinda... like they're happy with people's downfall.. very terrible attitude, so sick huh huh

Final GCMS notes received. In less than 30 days. Wonder why the delay for some people's notes.

Just reading the way London was toasting me there "Both have good English and good education. PA has provided good docs and info consistent with that found online. No apparent concerns. Good funds". Eligibility passed.

Oshey London. Took you 6 months to say just
Lol! It’s already ended in praise.

It depends on your CRS. If tomorrow’s cutoff is 440 and your CRS is above 440, you’ll get your ITA.
What’s your CRS?
Thanks so much for your advice.

Enter the pool ASAP, don't dull. If your score exceeds 440 you may be lucky. From the pool distribution following the last draw I have a strong feeling that the Cut-off will drop to 438/439 soon.
Thanks so much for your advice.

My people I understand that tomorrow is a likely date for a draw. If I enter the pool today in the night, Is there a probability that I will receive ITA or should I take my time with the form and wait for the next draw?

Please can you help me out with the contact I need to reach her. I applied since November and I am yet to get a response
jergins:
Dear eximtrade,
It all depend, I did mine for Masters, but i guess its same process.
The first process of transcript request is done and made online, visit unilag pgs site for how to. after making the process you are expected to wait for 6 weeks max then if you dont get any response you can visit the Records. However, I have noticed from my own experience for a faster response after doing the payment, just try and get a contact in records to follow up with. that should make it faster, after ur transcript has been sent and WES sent back your verification, then u may contact Mrs Olaniyan.

I have sent the no to your email.

Please what did you use to prepare for your IELTS exam. Did you fill in "immigration" as you rpurpose for doing the exams?
UdomoLeinad:
So IELTS results are in and the fact that I didn't read the instructions to one listening section (making me guess on about 5 questions) messed me up but its cool cos I was worried about speaking and writing before the test and thank God they came out ok. Registered for mid August exam, hopefully thats the second and final one

Congrats on your IELTS score. I need clarifications on the app. Does it expire after a period of time after payment or once you have paid you can use it as long as you want
Nwandy218:
IELTS Update people:

L= 8.5
R = 9
S= 7.5
W = 7.5.

Advice - Please pay for the full version of the "Road to IELTS" app. It helped a loooooooot! By the time you are done practising all the sample tests, you will be familiar with the structure of the questions, especially for reading and listening.
