your problem is not only hatred, ignorant is the major challenge you are facing. But a little research to can help you out to understand what foriegn reserve mean to economy development and the impact borrowing to finance major project. Even America, Japan and. UK borrowed more than Nigeria to help their economy grow.
Your problem is extreme gullibility and ignorance. they are doing so well and I guess Bill Gates was filled with hatred, and ignorance to have told them they are chasing shadows?
Who do una this thing, this govt have trippled our debts and they dont even have any road map of paying back, in other words creating more debt for the next generation. You are doing well and your children are starving and dying.
You are solving problem but the country is on the verge of colapse?
Compound idiocy and olodosm is not a talent. Imagine comparing US, Japan and UK govt recovery strategies with this gworo chewing dullardinhostic propaganda?
The US, Japan and UK are by far an advanced economy, the GDP is several times bigger than Nigeria, they dont have stupid economic policies of wastages and corruption. They dont recommision already commisioned bridges and projects, they dont spend billions to bride terrorists, they dont waste money impoting grass or appointing dead people.
BusinessRe: $46.7b Foreign Reserves Keep Naira Stable by Modarun(m): 8:42am On Apr 09, 2018
edunwablog:
The naira remains stable at the official and parallel markets, with the foreign exchange (forex) reserves standing at $46.7billion, a report by Exotic Capital, an investment and research firm, has said.

The naira exchanges at 362 to the dollar in the parallel market and 305.6 in the official market. It has remained at those rates since April, last year, after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) resumed forex interventions in the market.

The report said although the level of reserves was still below the record high of $64 billion realised in August 2008, it is nearly double the $24 billion recorded in October 2016, increasing by more than $22 billion in 15 months.

The reserves hit $46.7 billion on March 29, from just over $23 billion in October 2016, as the economy continues to attract huge investment inflows from foreign investors.

The economy benefited from increased forex supply with over $20 billion inflow to the Investors’ & Exporters’ (I&E) Forex Window since inception in April 2017.

The report said the macro fundamentals suggested the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN’s) appropriate reaction function would have been to hold rates unchanged as it did in last week’s Monetary Policy Committee MPC meeting.

“We have written extensively on Nigeria’s multiple exchange rate system and will abstain from further discussion at present, suffice to say that a fairly valued naira at 360 to the dollar combined with high domestic rates has led to a tremendous increase in the level of gross foreign reserves held at the CBN,” the report said, adding:

”With reserves at their current levels, it is easy to imagine the MPC being in a position where it could afford to cut as it is less dependent on attracting dollar inflows than it has been to both build reserves and stabilise the naira.”

A similar report by FBN Capital, titled: “Towards the $50 billion threshold, and counting”, said the rapid accumulation of $15.96 billion over 12 months was due to two sizeable Eurobond launches, a small diaspora bond issue, the recovery in oil export revenues (through the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation’s share of production and, more recently, the steady bid by the CBN at the I&E Forex window.

“We should stress that the data are gross and mask the swap transactions the CBN has entered into with local banks. The steady bid by the CBN has been seen variously as a response to the softening of demand for forex by importers and other economic actors, and as a move to contain naira appreciation,” the FBN Capital said, adding:

“The CBN will be pleased with the healthy signals from I&E Forex window where the weekly average has now settled above $1 billion. Reserves at end-March covered 17 months’ merchandise imports, and 10.9 months when we add services. These calculations are based on the balance of payments for 2017. The ratios are a little less impressive, but still robust, if we use the measure of current account payments (including income debits) favoured by the ratings agencies.”

Before the stability in the forex market and naira, the economy witnessed a depressed Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, which culminated in a recession in 2016. There was also rising inflation, which peaked at almost 19 per cent in January 2017 and a persistently rising unemployment rate to 14.23 per cent in 2016 fourth quarter from 6.41 per cent as at 2014 fourth quarter. There was also a significant depreciation of the exchange rate, reaching N525 to $1 in February 2017 and witnessed a fast depletion of the reserves which bottomed out at about $23.6 billion in October 2016 from as high as $40 billion in January 2014.

I trust the largely ignorant Hailers to make alot of noise about nothing. You guys are just so gullible and naive. Your foriegn reserve is increasing so also you have a record never been attained debt profile. Whats there to be jubilant about? that we are plunged into more poverty or debt? whats the use of having a Father with millions in his account yet all your children are starving, either way we are at a stand still. Yes every country have to borrow, whats important is where you spend.m the money? where is Buhari did Buhari spend 11trillion he has so far borrowed? You are blaming PDP but fact is the PDP only borrowed in total 6trillion, this demonic poverty creating APC have so far borrowed close to 12trillion. Question is where exactly can yhey say they have spent that money on?

A Northerner, Muhammad Ajah, took to Yoruba-owned medium, Tribuneonline.com to ask Igbos not to allow anyone distract them from Igbo Presidency 2023.

He said, "My greatest worry is about the Igbo nation and its long thirst to taste the position of the president since the Biafra war, nearly 50 years now. On this note, I use this medium to sound a warning to my people. They must not be deceived by those trying to divert their target in 2023.

"Although it is not good to put one’s eggs in one basket, the Igbo should have learnt their lesson and carefully study the past and present political underpin. They must not allow the political tide throw them far away into the deep sea again.

"I must warn the Igbo to be very conscious of being distracted from the 2023 focus. Shine your eyes, my Igbo people. I rest my case. "

The former Lagos state governor said the ‘Indomitable‘ spirit of the Nigerian will rise to the present occasion and deliver an awesome World Cup. The 2026 World Cup will have 48 countries competing for the prestigious 4-year tournament, 16 teams more than the initial present 32-team format.

The North African country as well as a joint bid by the USA, Canada and Mexico, have been authoritatively submitted to World football governing body (FIFA) for consideration.

“Morocco is bidding to host the 2026 World Cup, Nigeria should have jointly bid with Morocco because we can do it,” Fashola said. “With the expanded format of the World Cup, it will now be too expensive for one country to host it.

“Like we did when we hosted the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup when the gauntlet is thrown at us, we will rise to the occasion.

“The indomitable, undying spirit of the Nigerian will come to the fore when we have a deadline to meet.

“We will clean up our house to welcome visitors from around the world.”

PoliticsHow INEC Is Systematically Disenfranchising Nigerians - Group by Modarun(op): 9:24am On Apr 04, 2018
A public policy analysis and manifesto rating organization, Deep Dive Intelligence, claimed its findings have revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission is contributing to the mass disenfranchisement and voters’ apathy in Nigeria. The organization also said its study revealed that there is a high, systematic suppression of voters going on in the southern part of the country.

Deep Dive said the findings were based on the fact that nine states with the highest number of abandoned Permanent Voters Card (PVC) are in the South, with Lagos State being the highest number with abandoned PVCs, 2.2m.
Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman
It noted that inversely, states with a high rate of PVC collection are states with high illiteracy and poverty rate.
Deep Dive then wondered if it is valid to say, southerners are the most political unconscious people in the country or political elites are using INEC to strategically reduce the numbers of votes coming from the Southern part of the state.
But the organization proffers reasons which it said could be responsible for the high rate of abandonment of PVC by Southerners.
For one, it posited that INEC allocation of fewer human resources and equipment to Southwest states resulted in longer queues which discouraged people and make them abandon their PVCs or not register at all.
While noting that states with a high number of abandoned PVCs also states with low poverty rates, the organization also argued that residents of these states engaged in some form of formal/informal jobs making it difficult for them to get permission off work between the official 9 AM -3PM to be on queues for PVC daily.
Deep Dive, however, lamented that in spite of the development, the electoral body has not taken any active measures to correct the problem, thus unintentionally suppressing voters in the affected regions through its inactions.
It added that if INEC allowed the situation to continue, voters in the next general elections would be mainly illiterates and Nigerians with high poverty rates. This, it noted, would create room for politicians to easily buy votes and deceive the eligible voters who have PVC to vote for them.
In solving the problems, Deep Dive recommended that PVC collection and CVR registration timetable should be changed from the current 9 AM - 3 PM daily to 7 AM - 6 PM daily.
It also suggested that weekends (8 AM - 6 PM) should be added to PVC/CVR timetable in affected states.
In addition, the organization urged INEC to publish a 2-3 page statistics on PVC collection & CVR data for election monitoring groups, NGOs, international development organization to monitor the pulse of events ahead of the 2019 general elections weekly.

NOI was the finance minister in that period. If there are questions to be answered about how the revenues of the country was mismanaged, she should be the first person to be questioned. I really don't get why you think she should not be invited.

As the chief finance officer of the federal government, she should have advised the president on the illegality of withdrawing funds without the appropriate budgetary approval from the national assembly. The president doesn't have the powers to order the release of funds not appropriated by the national assembly. She knew very well that the money was going to be stolen and that was why she crafted her letter to mumu Jonathan in such a manner as to absolve herself. In saner climes, someone like her will never be allowed any where near a public office again. I really don't get why any objective person will be defending this woman.
You are indeed objective. As usual the APC zombies will run with this piece of propaganda once more. Funny they wont want the commisioner of Lagos under Fashola to explain how Lagos spent all the monies Fashola got from the Escrow account, how he spent on average 21billion IGR monthly, But these bunch would rather have NOI explain Dasuki spent the money meant for national security like there such is discussed with the ministry of finance.
You guys hypocrisy is sickening. This is another propaganda that will lead to nothing like the rest of them.
If they are serious they should also tell us what the APC states did with all the hundreds of billions they got as bail outs, how the $350 million Abacha loot recently released to the Buhari govt was scandered.

The federal government on Monday said the rice revolution embarked upon by President Muhammadu Buhari since assuming office has taken millions of Nigerians out of poverty, adding that the achievements alone is enough to get the president re-elected for another term if he decides to run.

Addressing a press briefing in Lagos, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information said the rice revolution started by the federal government through the Anchors Borrowers Programme has reduced drastically the importation of rice in the country as 60 percent of rice eaten in Nigeria today are produced locally.

“The agricultural revolution in general and the rice revolution, in particular, have taken millions of Nigerians out of poverty. As a matter of fact, today, 60% of rice eaten in Nigeria is produced in Nigeria. In the words of the rice processors, the rice revolution alone is enough to guarantee re-election for President Buhari, if he decides to run again!”

“We want to use this opportunity to appeal to Nigerians to complement the efforts of the government by consuming only locally-grown and processed rice. It is fresher. It is tastier. It is healthier. It has not spent months on the high seas and warehouses” .

“We don’t know where or how imported rice is made or how old it is? It is reported that most of the rice dumped on us are old and probably rejects. The citizens of those countries do not eat this rice. The citizens of Benin also do not eat it. But they send it to us. Unhealthy foods are dangerous to health. So let’s eat what we can vouch for”.
