we would have been better off today without oil dear, we are finding it difficult to move on and develop because of the oil and owners of the oil.

Cursed be the day oil was discovered in Nigeria cos that was when we starting growing backwards.
One thing I've discovered is that only very few countries depend on mineral resources have equal and balanced personal prosperity, only a few prosper, majority are in penury and the fight for control? Bloody!!

My parents got free quality education that has rubbed off on their children, now we have to pay crazy amounts to get little kids into kindergarten in this day and age!!!

Oil money is easy money but like most free things, it encouraged mental laziness, hence we are where we are today..

There was no way the current system of government won't have caused these agitation. Every people must be allowed to manage their resources.

The moment of truth is gradually coming.
One thing I'm wondering is ; Did this system of government just become a "current" thing? This false "federalism" we practice, the act of granting few individuals licences to prosper at the expense of the well being of every other person..

I agree with this in principle but simply because i know for a fact that the elites (both north and south) who maintain a choke hold on the prosperity of the nation will never ever ever ever allow a peaceful unraveling of this unholy alliance, i don't see it ever ending well... Peaceful unbundling ? Not going to happen, they will get mercenaries and fight to the death, Carnage and destruction is what i see.....

I am a product of OAU and ever since i saw what Cocoa got SW before the oil curse, i've always wondered how and where SW could have been if the black curse hadn't been discovered in Nigeria...

Aguiyi Ironsi did this nation a whole lot of damage..

This is just a short term measure that doesn't address the underlying cause of restiveness in the region. Another set of billionaires are about to be made.
That's the fallout of giving in to the initial set of blackmailers by the previous government , more blackmailers saw how easy and effortless the "untaxable" billions were rolling in... Everyone will want to take advantage...

No one should not mistake recognizing the limitations of NOW to cowardice.... Nigerians are facing a tough time as it is, a hard line stance will make it tougher on the average man....

As for a long term measure, how will that be achieve when militants insist on taking more and more without any recourse to their communities, Governors squander their 13%, & NDDC/ND Ministry are beehives of corrupt practices.. ? My bro, it is a vicious cycle that has no ending in sight.. sad

They plan it for weeks.
I just stopped their plans to abduct a 9 year old housemaid they were already brainwashing daily whenever she came to buy provisions from one of them who sells beside where she lives.
They will lure their target and then drug her to fall asleep in a tricycle and taken to the motor park where one of their own buses will be waiting to transport them to the north.
They can only deceive and abduct ignorant and naive teenage girls below 18.
What about the people who "employed" a nine year old as a "slave"? They should be your no 1 target before this your "story" lipsrsealed

My own dilemma with the abduction story is how Yunusa that doesn't have private transportation was able to get Ese to kano without attracting attention? Did he put a tape over her mouth to stop her from screaming? Did he tie her up and carry her in a sack?

I watched the video of the "rescue" , that girl was not happy about it....

What are you really on about? Kwankwanso is a tactical politician who flew on Buhari's wings to power in 2011. He did that because of political expediency.
You answered your question in the last sentence of the quoted, Political expediency & the only thing that can be said to be expedient is what can get one's desire...

Let's be realistic, how do you think it would have ended if it had been Kwankwanso VS Jonathan?

No one wins the Presidency without a good political alignment, that is one of the reasons for Buhari's victory after failing three times. Although I do not approve of his methods, but I cannot fault Tinubu's role in Buhari's emergence. Buhari would have shed tears the fourth time if not for Tinubu and members of the new-PDP that jumped ship.
No argument on this.... Which is what a particular region has refused to understand,Alignment is what it's 150% all about...

Presidential elections take more than clout to win. In fact, my uncle used to say that no one has ever contested to become the President of this country. One is picked by powerful forces to become the President. You can take a quick look at our political history, you will see the truth in what my uncle said.
Kwankwaso can become the President, if the right forces align
This i agree with on the point that if Kwankwanso gets the right forces to align , he can take it all the way home & also disagree with you because we will have to ask despite the amount of money spent , the AIT drama, the negative PR spin, 2015 went the way it did..

the marketers can never survive without subsidy, that's what has been keeping them in business for so long which also makes them credit worthy to banks, now that subsidy is gone, most of them will wind up soon. Only the major marketers can survive post subsidy regime.

Most Nigerians don't understand this. The only solution to the fuel crisis, is working refineries period.
Every other plan is just short term fix...By the way, most Nigerians do but the ones crying the loudest can't be seen to agree with that point cos it will lead to the question they dread the most; "why are refineries not working" or why didn't one of the over 20 licenses issued for private refineries come on stream....

You need to understand that some of the confused ipob people carrying this NDA bombing issue on their head are stark illiterates (might have gone through school though) and most have never really left their village properly before.

The other day I heard one 'smart' one saying all the oil in the Niger-delta are actually from the SE but are channelled through very deep underground pipelines to the Niger delta; that it was a plan by the british, hausa and yorubas to deprive the SE of its entitlement. Probably this may have been what kanu might have said in some of his radio broadcasts, but you can't just help but wonder how someone can be inherently so daft to believe such.
I saw it too & just shook my head... I've seen so many inanities on here that i've had to ask reasonable people offline, they always ask me to ignore the nonsense (even the pro Jona ones) that it is hunger and anger propelling them...

One acquaintance of mine insists that the politicians instigating them are just bitter that they can't stroll around the corridors of power anymore, have enough stolen funds to move anywhere when shait hits the fan & that the yoots crying don't have a pin let alone investments outside (landlord of a decent house in a good neighbourhood) so they just go in any direction they are directed...
