Nigerians are getting tired of the ruling party's incoherent, unstreamlined information dissemination system, less than 2hours after the announcement of Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu as the SGF,they are now saying the twitter handle was hacked,we don't need this front and back decision making,Nigerians demand to know who their information minister is,let them follow him accordingly on twitter and other social media channels, this will ensure that any news emanating from such an authourized channel is authentic and valid
Bros, are you aware that the senate has to screen all ministerial nominees before being given their respective portfolioshuh So which senate is supposed to do it?

The current one whose tenure terminates on the 6th of june or the yet to be inaugurated one??

No dear a C-section isn't straightforward delivery even though a family physician may be licensed to do some C/S. I do not know his personal limitations as per that but emergency first time c/s can be done by an FP. You may want to read this link:

http://www.aafp.org/about/policies/all/cesarean-delivery.html
I wasn't going to respond to the defence minister anymore but i appreciate this that you posted about limitations which is what i hope "they" got but NO...

This Dr
1.Collected deposit for the service,
2. Became incommunicado after he saw that it was beyond his reach.
3.The person in question had to go to the ER.

No one plans for complications, of course poo happens but one wants to be rest assured your dr will be there all the way...

You also mentioned not minding a nurse, why not but not when there is a pre existing condition, and i believe Dr Soyola will not accept a case that has some slight hiccups, receive deposit with the hope that he will be able to wing it and take off like a bird when the tree branch begins to waver......

When you do not know ask people who know. He is a board certified family physician and his practice includes Obstetrics and Child Care.

It means that he specializes in Obstetrics and Child Care. Contact doctors in US to explain things to you since you are ignorant. US based Doctors in the house please step in

What did you serve. Tarnishing a good mans image?

You said he neglected your friend that was why i brought up that incident that he rushed to my sisters house to deliver my baby to show that he is not as bad as you are painting him to be!

What is your business if i paid or not? Can see you specialise in ameboism.... this matter you are carrying on your head didn't even happen to you. I am sure if i tell you want happened afterwards you will add salt and pepper and start broadcasting it. Sorry you do not qualify...
This rejoinder is laughable but will not be provoked into giving more details, continue with your home service jack of all trades Dr and his practice that includes obstetrics and child care ....

Every other Dr that has been broadcasted on this thread all have their certification specifically in ob gyn but you are seeing the amebo... abeg have some seats.

Please o mamas, may I come in here. In ideal settings straight forward pregnancy care and delivery do not have to be taken by an Obstetrician, Infact in the UK and Canada, midwives play this role significantly. So it is not illegal or unauthorised for a family physician to take deliveries. Finally a family physician in the US is not a GP as per Nigerian standards where a GP has no postgraduate qualifications. He is a specialist with at least 3 years of postgraduate specialisation.
You can definitely contribute, we are all here to share and can learn from each other..... The bone of contention here is that this Dr left this person when it became obvious that the VB he was hoping for wasn't going to pan out... He has LIMITATIONS.

As i submitted earlier, i had a relative who used to deliver babies with zero medical skills..... Hausa fulani teenagers dont even go for one ANC and deliver at home, thats not an issue...

All i know is that one of the reasons people give for going to the US to have their babies, i dont believe anyone will knowingly choose a family medicine practitioner over an ob gyn, no ma

@ejisky,
I'm not going to get into any arguments with you but I'm going stand by what I posted.

The only reason I'm not going to mention the person is cos I don't have permission to bring it to a public forum.

That you had a great experience with him does not mean everyone else did, you said you had your baby at home, this person didn't have that priviledge.

The question is, Is Dr Akere a board certified OB -GYN?? Does he have surgical skills to go on his OWN when its comes to C-sections, myomectomy, hysterectomy et al?

My great aunt delivered babies till the end of her days in my family compound back home; doesn't make her a LICENSED midwife. She also knew better than to keep a not so straightforward case without pulling out fast and sending them to the hospital, so that point is null and void...

You may not have a problem with leaving ob gyns in Nigeria to go to a family medicine practictioner in the US, I and I'm sure a lot of people do...

Diezani shouldn't be scrambling this way over their oyel now, she is in charge of their communal property& can do as she deems fit.

The other time that she took marilyn ogar on a wild goose chase to Gen Abdulsalami's house, it was the same report of her evading a meet with the man before she got knocked down from her pedestal.

Minus the moral of stealing being bad, the lesson to be taken from this is. be nice to everyone you meet, you never know when you may need them..

@Cramjones,

Barcanista is not telling lies, he is telling the truth according to dictates of his security contract. I'm not one to grudge any man his means of making his paper, its hard out there in the streets.

Initially I was upset with his defection and subsequent attack on the person of GMB, but I started sympathising with him after his court jester post/thread about how the APC wasn't going to take SW for GMB.

Of all he wrote, I knew he didn't know what he was saying when he came up with SDP/ Osoba taking the day in Ogun state.

I implore people to temper justice with mercy as its obvious he has been left with eggs all over his face & is grasping at straws like a drowning man.

Hi,

Pls which hospital in Chicago does Dr Akere practise with? Or rather what hospitals come with the costs you mentioned? I'm referring to the 7500 normal and 9000 CS. Do you mind sharing the breakdown. I am a July mum looking at Cook county.
Dr Akere (google search) is not an obgyn, he is a GP.his board certification and licence is in family medicine.

I'm alarmed cos how that works out in the US with all the regulation and policy is a matter for another day.huh?

He has a practice called JIL medical something &according to his site has admitting priviledges @ St bernard & some other places. He may be good at delivering babies....

But ,I also know of someone who had a very unpleasant experience with him, got abandoned mid way cos of complications and had to go to the ER and is still counting the massive cost.

I didn't want to mention it but it will be unfair to keep quiet when others do share.

I'm not casting any aspersion on his practise or his person, just saying it as it is.

@Alemo50,

Welcome, its great to have you.. God will bless you beyond your expectation for this kind gesture of yours... Thanks.

I'm going to take shameless advantage of your offer and ask a question that's been on my mind for a while; smiley

What is the significant difference between a 37 and a 38 wk CS? From what I've read, some Drs push to 38wks because of breathing issues but some women go into labour at 36wks+ & deliver perfectly healthy babies.
I had an elective @ 37+1 and my baby was and is still doing very well, now I'm up for another one and another mum told me this present hospital will not do until 38wks unless there is fetal distress..

Kindly enlighten me/us as you are in the know. I'm 31wks now & I dont want to bring up the subject with the dr yet, till I'm in 36th week so they don't tag me ITK. Thx.

BUT..

Malaria in pregnancy is more dangerous for the in utero baby than paracetamol could ever be, so what do we do in this case?

Let's agree Jona had no initial desire to go into politics and accidentally drifted his way from dep gov,to gov,to vp then finally to president. Why then the total desperation to cling to what he isn't interested in. huh

The dollar rain and kneeling all over the SW was just in fun then... He may not be the president anymore but that doesn't mean he should give voice to every ridiculous notion that pops into his head..
Politics › Jonathan- "I wasn’t Interested In Politics" by modath(op):
Friday that prior to the time he became the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, he was not interested in politics.

He made this known during a civic reception organised by the Bayelsa State Government at Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

The former President, who arrived at the state capital in company with his wife, Patience, was given a heroic welcome.

Present at the reception was the host governor, Seriake Dickson, his wife, Rachel, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and the outgoing Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim.

Others were former Governor of old Rivers State, King Alfred Diete-Spiff; former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, and Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson, among others.

Many women groups and musicians were on ground to give the ex-President a rousing welcome.

The venue of the reception was filled to capacity with the people singing and dancing.

Narrating how he dabbled into politics, Jonathan said, “It all started with me and Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. I knew Alamieyeseigha when he wanted to contest the governorship of Bayelsa State under the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party. That was the first time I knew Alamieyeseigha. We formed groups in every local governments – two persons to sign petition to enable Alamieyeseigha to contest.

“But a late Chief Judge asked me and one person from Ogbia to sign the petition. Even though I was a civil servant, I signed the document. I was in the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission then. Of course, when he started his campaign, I joined.

“Not because I was interested in any elective office, but what drove me into joining Alamieyeseigha’s team was that those of us from very small communities always have problems and sometimes you have to run to government for assistance. I felt that if I worked with him and luckily he won, I would know some of the people in government.

“When electioneering started after Abdusalami Abubakar took over, Alamieyeseigha did not call me. But somewhere along the line because we had worked together, one evening, one Bozimo and another person came to my house and asked me to run with Alamieyeseigha as deputy governor.

“I was living in Port Harcourt then and I knew how primaries work and I said I would think about it. In fact, the following day, I told Bozimo that I was not interested, but the whole thing changed later. The detail will come later. That was how Bozimo and Alamieyeseigha brought me in and during the election, we won.

“From 1999 to date, my people and Nigerians have given me rare opportunity, rare privilege. I was deputy governor, governor, vice-president and President of the country. I am grateful to all Nigerians.”

He said the only thing he could do was to thank all Bayelsans, all Ijaw people, all people from the South-South and indeed all Nigerians for giving him the privilege to serve in different capacities. He said the best he could do now is to dedicate the remaining part of his life to peace building across the country.

He added, “Nigerians have given me so much that I cannot stay back. That is why I maintain that we need peace in this country. We need development in this country. Political crises don’t bring development.

“And I believe the new administration will work with all Nigerians and make sure Nigerians are happy. I am indeed happy about the statement the President made that he did not belong to any clique, but to Nigerians. I congratulate him for that.

“I thank Dickson and the people of Bayelsa for honouring me and my wife. I thank you all.”

In his remarks, Dickson described Jonathan as the hero of democracy in Nigeria and Africa.

“Jonathan is the hero of democracy and father of modern democracy in Nigeria. I thank God for giving us Jonathan. He is a great man of Ijaw nationality and Nigeria.”
