The economic crisis in the South American country has sparked a public health emergency that has claimed the lives of countless Venezuelans and deprived others of treatment and care. The medical needs are basic, but deeply felt, ranging from gloves to antibiotics and from running water to chemotherapy. Inside and out, the country appears to have come to a standstill, its citizens waiting in line to buy food, medicine, materials for surgery and more. More often than not, there's a stinging "Sold Out" at the end of the lines, which snake around for blocks in cities across the country. Lawmakers estimate that the country is lacking about 95 percent of resources to treat a variety of conditions, according to a spokesman for the country's congressional Commission on Health. Since the Venezuelan Ministry of Health has not released official numbers, the commission has had to rely on reports from doctors around the country. As hospital care collapses, death rates have ballooned. The national cancer death rate has more than doubled, from about 60 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2000 to more than 140 in 2013, the last date for which data was available, according to lawmakers. Nine of the country's 23 states don't have resources to give radiation treatment. And then there's the wait. There are more than 40,000 people in the country waiting for surgery, and about 5,000 waiting for transplants in the country of 30 million, according to a 2016 report from the commission. At the Universitario, once a top surgical center in the region, mattresses are bare and many restrooms shuttered. To get from one floor to another in some areas, patients must yell through the doors of some of the hospital's elevators to alert the attendant operating it because buttons are broken. Running water comes and goes. Roaches have colonized in some rooms. There's no air conditioning in public areas, hallways or in most patients' rooms. One of the governorship aspirants of the APC in the just concluded primaries of the party in Ondo State, Jamiu Afolabi Ekungba came out of the venue of the primaries ranting, shouting and lamenting, vowing not to ever render any assistance to Ondo State indigenes now and in the future. Ekungba, who hails from Owo LGA of the state with the winner of the primaries Rotimi Akeredolu, said with fury and lamentation that the people of Ondo State collected his money and deceived him by failing to cast their votes for him in the primaries after spending millions of naira. The Owo-born politician was lamenting bitterly to some journalists after storming out of The Dome, venue of the party primaries. Ekungba, before storming out of the Dome was seen on the podium celebrating with Akeredolu after the latter was announced winner of the cash and carry election. He said “I am highly disappointed in the people of Ondo, they are bastards and betrayals. They deceived me. I spent over N300million naira on reaching out to each of the delegates alone. Even before the primaries I have spent millions of naira. After collecting my money they gave me just 44votes.” “From today I will never help any Ondo State indigene, I’ll rather give out my money to the Hausa beggars on the street.” Aside Ekungba, about seven other aspirants also stormed out of the venue of the primaries in anger and lamentation after losing out in the race where the highest bidder emerged winner. Gabon Parliament went into flames Wednesday night after protesters opposing a presidential win by President Ali Bongo set it ablaze. Ali Bongo was declared the winner in the tightly contested race but the Opposition led by Jean Ping termed the results as ‘fraudulent’. Drums of war sounded in the streets as security forces moved in to contain angry protesters. Bongo won Saturday's presidential poll by 5,594 votes, taking 49.80 percent to 48.23 percent for his rival Jean Ping, AFP reported. The Opposition has disputed the razor thin victory and their supporters burst into streets with anti-Bongo slogans. Source http://www.hivisasa.com/national/politics/165860

We all heard about the Nickel discovery in Kaduna recently and the subsequent media attention it attracted. People became curious about how precious is this Niclel and above all how much is it sold. Here's some simple analysis with data obtained from infomine.com According to the site, as at August 26, 2016, a pounce of the element goes for $4.43, and we have 2.205pounce in a Kilogram. That means a Kilogram will go for approximately $10. Therefore, a 5okg bag filled with Nickel will be sold at $500 or #157,625.00. And a ton (i.e 1000kg) will go for $10,000.00 or #3,152,500.00. Source>>>>>>>>> http://www.infomine.com/investment/metal-prices/nickel/1-week/ Further, a ton of the metal was pegged at $9830 as at 30th August, 2016, according to wall street journal on London metal exchange prices. http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3021-londMetal.html Ironjcally, the paper placed another metal (Tin) at more than $18,000.00 per ton. Meaning that Tin is twice as valuable as Nickel. Exception, news have it that this newfound Nickel is a pure grade type, this analysis may not apply if that type has a price higher than the ordinary Nickel.
