Becomrich}:
Why are they in a hurry to do the primary, Wait till 2011 january.

ACN should cancel thier primary,

Look PDP is just tricking you. I am telling you Nuhu ribadu is a member of PDP.

The truth is even the  states you have you may loss it. All the governors may have to run in 2011. including Aregbesola and Ekiti governor. they are not sure what PDP is up too.  Do you people think it is possible for Delta state governor to have 7 years in first time. it is not possible, they are just tricking you.

Look if they run an election in delta state and the governor wins again. It means he has use 7 to 8 years in power , which is unconstitutional. The PDP is only playing trick with you people. They would make all of you run in 2011. That what the constitution says.

Dont you people read the constitution, Obi judgement was illegal.

I am telling you the governor of delta state can not use 7 to 8 years in one term. And what apply to him, would apply to everybody.

Change your primary days to after PDP dates of january 15.  And see what PDP would do.

So cant run Tinubu because PDP would use the EFCC. I know that what PDP would do.  Nuhu Ribadu would not win. And since you are not running a yoruba person, you are not going to do well at the Poll in Yorubaland. because Labour party is running Dele momoh. Most Yoruba would vote for Dele momoh than vote for Nuhu Ribadu.  And it would affect the out come of the governorship election in favour of the labour party. it either you team up with labour.
Bros, this your grammar need an upgrade. It runs the belly. Haba
PoliticsWhy Will Gej Offer Bribe To Pator Bakare? by mogentle(op): 11:33am On Dec 02, 2010
My question to Pastor Bakare is What is the $US50000 for? Bribe you to rig election or to do what? Can you tell the world what GEJ told you the $US50000 is for. You are not a law maker as to GEJ gave you the money to buy you into approving any legislation. You are not INEC chairman as to rig the election. You are not a judge as to buy your judgement in his favour. And you are definitely not a pdp delegates as to buy your vote neither are you the chairman of pdp as to rig the primary in his favour. So it really sound silly dear Pastor to make noise over nothing. I honestly am no longer comfortable with your position in the political situation in nigeria. If you are interested in the seat of the presidency come out and say so. Those who like you will support you.If you continue this way you will loose support of many people. It is not unusual for the office of the presidency to give gifts to people that visited him in my own position.
So to me I dont see any reason GEJ should bribe you because there is nothing whatsoever he is to get from you in return or as a political gain. So i advise you to better concentrate in your Pastoral work than to dabble in to the dirty water of politics. It will do you no good Pastor.

Response by Karem @http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/audio-pastor-bakare-50000-jonathan-bribe-attempt

What is SNG getting at, you were offered transport money and you refused it, that should have been the end of the story. why calling the press? Every individual will tell you that there is a provision for entertainment allowance for our politicians. Pastor Bakare has made it clear that he is supporting Buhari who happens to be my choice too but he does not need to make mountain out of a mole hill. SNG claimed they did not want to create a scene refusing the money at Aso Rock premises but went out of the premises to make a film out of it. Why did SNG go to Aso Rock in the first place? SNG should busy herself with mobilizing Nigerians to come out and vote for candidates of their choice instead of Subtly turning herself to a campaign machinery for a particular party.(S.A)

I don't think GEJ will want to offer bribe to SNG, knowing fully well the status of Pastor Tunde Bakare, and do you think it's right for the pastor to go to press because of this?

I'm loving this, Pls keep your promises.

Chief Bisi Akande achieved some success during his tenure but people voted him out 'cos he was too adamant and proud as if other people's suggestions are useless. He personalised govt as if it was his property, even the civil servants were not treated well though he costructed roads and provided some facilities, but he was rude to approach and he lost out during the election. So also Olusegun Osoba of Ogun State, he saw himself as a product of AFENIFERE GROUP and not of the electorate and so his stuborness made people to vote for Daniel in 2003.
Therefore, Dear Governor, Pls be approachable like Gov Fashola and carry people along in your programme. Be a listening governor and we the electorate will continue to support you.
Wishing you the best.

PoliticsI Won’t Vote For Pdp-.-el-rufai by mogentle(op): 12:08pm On Nov 15, 2010
A former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, may be on collision course with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party as he has said he will not vote for the party in the 2011 elections.

El-Rufai, who is also a staunch member of the PDP, however, did not give reasons for his decision.

He made this known while giving a remark at the 50th birthday thanksgiving service of the Mrs. Layide Bakare, wife of the Convener, Save Nigeria Group and founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Sunday in Lagos.

Bakare had invited el-Rufai to give his remarks as a guest at the ceremony, where the Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and the former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Chief Titi Oseni, were in attendance.

The cleric had initially challenged Daniel to a “balloon debate” on why the electorate should vote for the PDP or not in the 2011 election but he quickly added that the debate was not for the occasion.

Bakare said, “I have said it before; that to move this nation forward, we need to kick out the PDP. I have friends there like OGD (Daniel) but when the matter comes to how Nigeria will move forward, there is no compromise.”

El-Rufai, who described Bakare and Daniel as his leaders, said he aligned with the position of the cleric on the people opting to use their vote to liberate the country.

“Pastor Bakare is my leader. Our governor, Otunba Daniel, is also my political leader. But just like pastor had said, I will not vote for the PDP,” he said amid applause from the congregation.”

The former minister, who advised that religion or ethnicity should not be allowed to divide Nigerians, said one’s religious belief was a function of his background, culture and even language.

Bakare added that the electorate would have the upper hand in the 2011, He said that the SNG would mobilise 12 million voters, who would be able to determine the outcome of any electoral contest.

He said, “SNG is not a political party; I’m not a member of any political party but let me tell you, 2011 election is the election of voters; not of any political party.

“We are mobilising 12 million voters across the country. These are non-partisan people who will be able to determine the results of any elections. This time around, if anyone tries to rig the elections, we are ready to use every weapon at our disposal to fight to defend the votes.”

Daniel said that the “body language” and the “people around” the cleric suggested that he “is heading somewhere.”

“We are watching your body language. When one sees the likes of el-Rufai, Mr. Yinka Odumakin and even Dr. Okei-Odumakin around you (Bakare), we know you are heading somewhere,” the governor said.

He, however, threw a challenge to Bakare when he said,”But when you are going there, know that I’m also building my church. So, we are moving in opposite directions.”

PoliticsPresidential Primaries: Consensus Committee Rules Out Ibb, Saraki by mogentle(op): 12:04pm On Nov 01, 2010
The consensus committee set up by the Northern Political Leaders Forum has ruled out either former head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) or Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, as the choice aspirant of the North.

Investigations by THE PUNCH on Saturday in Abuja showed that the decision of the committee was one of the outcomes of its consultations with stakeholders in the region in the past few weeks.

The NPLF had last month set up a 17-man committee to pick a consensus aspirant out of the four contenders for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party –Babangida; Saraki; ex-vice- president Atiku Abubakar and former National Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Gusau (retd.).

THE PUNCH gathered that the committee was still considering whether to pick former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar or ex-National Adviser on Security, Gen. Aliyu Gusau.

Besides Babangida and Saraki, it was learnt that the committee also foreclosed the possibility of fielding any Northern minority as the consensus aspirant of the region.

Investigations, however, showed that the committee had stepped up efforts at producing a consensus aspirant early this month.

A member of the committee, who pleaded anonymity, said, “After consultations with emirs and other stakeholders in the North, we discovered that Babangida would be a hard sell. shocked shocked

“He is being haunted by his past, particularly the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. We were advised by those we met that we should look for an aspirant that would commend nationwide acceptance.”

It was also learnt that the committee was bitter that Babangida, who was adopted by National Democratic Party on Thursday, had demonstrated his lack of faith in the consensus arrangement.

“While we have not concluded the consensus arrangement, the former president has started making moves to contest on the platform of All Nigeria Peoples Party,” the committee member said.

Investigations also showed Saraki was not being considered because he was from a minority ethnic group in the North.

“From our consultations with Northern stakeholders, our consensus aspirant must come from the core North. That rules out aspirants from the Middle Belt,” the committee member said.

When contacted, the chairman of the committee, Mallam Adamu Ciroma, told our correspondent on the telephone that the issue was still at the preliminary stage.

Denying that the group had picked an aspirant, he said, “We are at the preliminaries. We are still consulting.”

But as the committee was intensifying efforts to produce a consensus aspirant, President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday said he was confident of emerging victorious in the PDP’s presidential primaries.

The Head of Media and Publicity, Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Mr. Sully Abu, in an interview with one of our correspondents, said, “We are very much prepared and will drub anyone, including any candidate a gang-up throws up.”

Abu stated that the consensus arrangement would not yield any positive result, adding that the President was not intimidated.

Meanwhile, Saraki has given a condition for the sustenance of unity in the PDP. Saraki spoke in an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, after the local government election in Kwara State.

He noted that the party would remain intact after its presidential primaries “if there is a level playing ground for all the aspirants.”

The governor was reacting to a question on fears that there might be a split in the PDP after the primaries.

He explained that denying any of the contestants a fair chance in the primaries would cause a crisis.

He, however, expressed the hope that the PDP would not experience any division “because the party now appreciates internal democracy and transparent elections.”

Saraki said it was important for the PDP to provide all its presidential aspirants a level playing ground to contest the primaries.

He, however, said, “I have confidence in the ability of the leadership of the party to conduct crisis-free primaries because I believe there are capable hands at the helm of affairs of the party.”

Answering a question on his inability to speak Hausa, grin grin grin in spite of his claim to being a core Northerner, he said, “My candidature is about what I am bringing to the table, not about the language I speak or which one I don’t speak.”

PoliticsHenry Okar's Interview Finally Nailed With Proofs. by mogentle(op): 10:48am On Oct 08, 2010
THE Director-General of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation Senator Dalhatu Tafida Thursday accused those condemning President Goodluck Jonathan’s handling of the Abuja explosions of plotting to take over power by force.

Tafida spoke as doubts were expressed over the Al-Jazeera interview in which militant leader Henry Okah said an associate of Jonathan wanted him to implicate Northerners.

South Africa security services were said to confirmed to their Nigerian counterparts that "at no time did we allow Okah to make such telephone contact."
"Following the suspicion raised about the authenticity of the interview, we contacted South Africa to confirm its validity but were shocked to find out that at no time did such interview take place," the source also said.

Investigations within the security services in Nigeria and South Africa revealed that the interview with Mr. Okah, might have been faked to deceive the Arab cable news network as South Africa and Nigerian secret services maintain that there is a great deal of doubt about the authenticity of the telephone contact between the media organisation and the embattled militant leader.

Said a top security source: "Following suspicion raised about the authenticity of the interview, we contacted South Africa to confirm its validity but were shocked to find out that at no time did such interview take place.

But Al-Jazeera denied the interview was fabricated. Spokesperson for the organisation, who pleaded not to be named, said last night: "I can assure you it (the interview) is not fake or fabricated.

Al-Jazeera maintians the highest standard of integrity and professionalism. Henry Okah contacted our headquarters in Doha and I can confirm the interview is one hundred per cent true".

The Al-Jazeera source added that in South Africa, a detainee could make and receive calls.

Also Thursday, Southsouth Elders and Leaders Forum, led by Chief Edwin Clark, attacked former Finance Minister Adamu Ciroma and other leaders of the Northern Political Leaders Forum for asking Jonathan to quit office over his handling of the blast.

Tafida said: "Instead of some of the elders who are vicariously responsible for the frustration of many of our youths to be sober, they are desperately trying to milk this national tragedy for political gains.

"While the security agencies are busy trying to unearth the details of the natural tragedy, the provocative comments of some of our yesteryear men, laced with demeaning ethnic chauvinism, suggest that they do not mind if Nigeria explodes if they don’t acquire power at all cost in the 2011 primaries and general elections," he said.

Tafida said no matter the situation, President Jonathan would not lose focus but remain on track as "no amount of blackmail, regionalising or bringing religion will stop the President from moving forward."

The Campaign DG advised that time to play politics had not yet come but added that much as saying the Jonathan/Sambo camp would want President Jonathan to win the PDP ticket, if however his opponents win, "we will follow them."

"A presidential election is not a game of life and death. I therefore enjoin all members of the PDP in the race to remember that there is politics after presidential election. Let us be careful. "Whatever religion you belong, let us remember that it is the Almighty God and He alone who gives power to whom He likes and takes away power from whom he wishes," he added.

He said: "Many suffered in the cause of the struggle without looking for any personal reward. Many died so that we, their children, could have a good life.

They built roads, they provided hospitals, they set up universities that competed with the best anywhere in the world. This was the Nigeria they handed over to us.

"But what do we have now? Regrettably, most regrettably, almost everything they worked for, they laboured for, for which they kicked out the British colonialists, has been compromised. Much of the compromise and decline occurred during the period of the military rule when people had no say in the choice and conduct of governance.

"As a result of consistent struggle for democracy, Nigeria has achieved democratic governance at last. We should, therefore, sustain these gains and jealously guard them."

The Southsouth Elders and Leaders Forum said they viewed the statement made by the NPLF, led by former Finance Minister Adamu Ciroma, as "a brazen seditious threat to the unity of the country".

After an emergency meeting held at the Abuja residence of its leader, Chief Edwin Clark, the forum demanded an apology and retraction of the statement, which they said slandered the President and the people of the Southsouth.

Briefing reporters on the outcome of their meeting, the Secretary of the Forum Chief Ayakeme Whisky described the statement as highly inflammatory, adding that the NPLF was only trying to whip up sentiment within the military .

"The Forum views the reckless and unguarded vituperations of the northern leaders as an attempt to whip up dangerous sentiment within the military by insinuating that it was the recent widely-acclaimed changes in the nation’s defence hierarchy that led to the tragic event of October 1.

Wondering if there had not been mysterious bombings, fundamental breaches of human rights and other high-level security breaches even on the watch of respected military leaders from the north such as the 2011 Presidential aspirant General Ibrahim Babangida.

"We can understand their sense of frustration and despair because we know as a matter of fact that these are people who live and survive only by clinging to power because they see it as their exclusive birthright.

What more! We are not really surprised at the brazen threat because we know it is in the culture of these self acclaimed apostles and new face of democracy to always subvert and undermine legitimate and constitutional governments.

PoliticsPdp, Now Franchise For Govs, Says El-rufai by mogentle(op): 11:02am On Oct 06, 2010
Former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a franchise for Governors and FCT Minister, and should therefore be nicknamed the Governors Democratic Party (GDP).

He  added that the party has become toxic and indeed a danger to Nigeria, for failing to live up to expectation in giving Nigeria, the needed change the people yearn for under democratic  rule.

El-Rufai who was at the launch  of the Plateau State chapter of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), the first in Nigeria, stated this  at a press conference, shortly after the  launch.

“PDP has become a franchise of 36 state governors and FCT, where states’ resources are used to oppress citizens at will with no one challenging them. So your money is being used to oppress you.

“Unless PDP loses election in a significant way, it will not change because it will think it is doing well. And unprincipled politicians will be busy leaving their parties to join them”.

According to him,  “Some of us felt concerned and started a reform movement with the hope that PDP internal operation will be democratised, but instead of seeing reasons with what we are championing, the powers that be clamped down on us because of fear”.

The PDP, he added “has failed to live up to expectation, it has become toxic, it has become a danger to the country’s democracy, you cannot have a party that is dominated by 29 out of 36 governors and the FCT and expect anything good for our teeming masses,”

According to him, “unless PDP lose elections substantially, no change can be expected, because it has no incentives to change or do better, which is unfortunate  and the founding fathers will be regretting why their vision for the party has not been adhered to in the last twelve years.”

He however, noted that not all in the party are bad, because people like former Governor Adamu Muazu of Bauchi state did well and some few others, while others have failed to deliver democratic dividends to the people.

Also commenting, the Convener of SNG, Pastor Tunde Bakare, said the group came about because Nigerians are dissatisfied with the way the country is being governed, saying the group would mobilize Nigerians to ensure that their votes count during and after 2011.

According to him, the SNG is not a political party but a political organization with “responsibility to let the people know that sovereignty is in their hands”.

He said the group is out to give voice to the voiceless so that “we will have credible leaders in place that will lead and give good governance. He denied association with any political party as is being insinuated.

Ogun Majority Faction Resurfaces, Suspends Titi Oseni, 7 Others
•Passes vote of no confidence on Daniel
From Sheriff Balogun in Abeokuta , 09.14.2010

The leadership crisis rocking Ogun State House of Assembly took another turn yesterday, as Speaker Tunji Egbetokun allegedly suspended by nine lawmakers, resurfaced with the 14 lawmakers in his camp and declared former Speaker of the House and seven others suspended.

Hon. Titi Oseni and Hon. Onasanya Solaja’s seats were also declared indefinitely vacant.
Armed with the mace, the symbol of legislative authority, the Egbetokun faction converged on one primary school auditorium in Terelu Imodi, Ijebu-east Local Government of the state to perform the task.
They first passed a resolution suspending the House rule indefinitely.

The lawmakers resolved that the Group of Nine members along with their elected Speaker Soyemi Coker, and three others namely Edward Ayo-Odugbesan, Tolu Bankole and Abiodun Oluseyi Moses be suspended indefinitely.
However, Musa Moruf, Sunday Kojeku, Adegbesan Joseph and Salmon Adeleke were suspended for three months.

About two weeks ago, the Group of Nine at a location in the state purportedly suspended the 14 lawmakers opposed to Governor Gbenga Daniel and removed Egbetokun as Speaker over allegations of gross misconduct.
They replaced him with Coker representing Odeda state constituency but the move had raised questions as to how the “minority” could remove the “majority”.

The group had also reinstated two of their suspended colleagues, Oseni and Solaja, and then went ahead to approve the N100 billion bond and N26 billion supplementary budget proposed by Daniel but rejected by the Egbetokun-headed leadership of the House.

However, after a week of non-appearance, the majority faction of 14 lawmakers emerged with the resolution to suspend Oseni and Solaja indefinitely and their seats declared vacant in line with Section 109 of the Nigerian Constitution.
The group also passed a vote of no confidence on the governor for allegedly aiding and abetting illegality in the state, mismanaging public funds, sponsoring violence and violent gangs in the state, non-compliance with state laws and the constitution of the country.

Egbetokun said the House also resolved that the state commissioner of police should arrest, prosecute members and others involved in the burglary of the assembly chamber on September 6.
They urged the Inspector-General of Police (IG) and Director of State Security Service (SSS) to beef up security at the assembly complex.

“All purported decisions taken at the illegal sitting of Monday September 6 are hereby declared null and void by the House. The House therefore adjourned sine die,” he added
Contacted to react to the new development last night, the state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Shina Kawonishe, merely said: “We cannot be responding to such loose talk. Are you not aware of the Supreme Court decision and judgment which states unequivocally that any sitting done outside the House of Assembly complex is a nullity.”

PoliticsVagabonds Want To Succeed Me---Daniel by mogentle(op): 10:08am On Jun 18, 2010
There appears to be no end in sight to the rift between the Ogun State House of Assembly and the state government with the latter saying, it had resolved to access N100 billion instead of the initial N50 billion from the capital market.

Addressing traditional rulers during the inauguration of the Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo as chairman of the State Council of Obas, the state commissioner for Finance, Mr. Kehinde Sogunle said accessing the bond market was inevitable for the economic development of the state.

In what appeared like calling the bluff of the state lawmakers over the bond, Governor Daniel who also addressed the traditional rulers said if the current set of lawmakers made it difficult accessing the capital, he was sure it would be the first assignment of their successors.

Daniel who lamented the inability of the state lawmakers to allow the state government to access the capital for the bond last year said the state has been losing N400 million every month.

His words: “By just behaving stupidly, we are losing N400 million monthly and we’ve lost it from January 2009 till date. So, if you look at what we’ve lost since 2009 which is N4.8 billion compounded with interest because of our stupidity.”
The governor who described the passage of House Resolution 167 as retrogressive said: “When a set of people woke up one morning and urged financial institutions not to have anything to do with us, the implication is very simple. Ogun State people are being punished by those people who supported that resolution and the people supporting them because they lack knowledge.”

Daniel asked rhetorically: “Do we not allow them. Are we going to fold our arms. Don’t say I did not tell you. Vagabonds want to be in power. We would not fold our arms and watch vagabonds take over power in Ogun State. Our people have stopped asking where people got their money from. People keep asking me if I would allow vagabonds to take over Ogun State. Our people forgot to ask people how they got their money,” even though he failed to explain those he described as vagabonds. angry angry
On his own part, Sogunle said, “despite the fact that we could not access the bond due to the frustrations from members of the House of Assembly, we are repackaging it.
