@mohawkchic

are you a Dr?

My best friend is worried about her daughter who seems rather slow. can we talk?
~Am not a Doctor Chaircover . . from your location on profile tho,am asuming your friend is also in the UK? If so,she best have a word with her health visitor or GP,they'll be in a better position to advice her or address her concerns!!

~Unless you plan to marry the Profession itsellf,i beliveve there's an Individual behind the Profession ?!! ~ Is it any wonder the women who marry "The Profession & Lifestyle" always  have their r/s & marriages on the rocks!!

~I suppose i can understand the fascination . . .the glam lifestyle of "WAGS" make it look like its an extra-ordinary cool thing to bag a Footie Player with much emphasis placed on the "Professional Footballer" instead of the Individual!!
Family › Re: If Your Wife Delivers An Abnormal Child What'll Be Your Action? by mohawkchic(f): 2:56am On Nov 06, 2008
when your wife delivers a child youre not suppose to have you tell me youll smile and take it to your mum and youll be welcomed with both hands widely open ahh cmon be real,

[~You deal with it,thats the hand that fate dealt you!! One would be expected to go thro a roller coaster of emotions, the parents will be distraught . . . as a mother i would have a million questions,i'd blame myself . . i'll wallow in self-pity,there'll be aching pain that will never go away every time you look at that child & wish for healthy child . . but will it change anything?

~I have seen that pain in the eyes of parents . . wishing there was something they could do,doing research after research to find out "WHY" ~ "What caused the disability" . . .but you know what, life goes on . .dwelling on the ~"If's ~But's ~& Why's" ~aint going to make what the reality of the suitation is!!

~You're left with little or no choice but to move on . . .take the positives with the negatives . . the joy of giving birth will be quickly replaced with finding out the best available care to give to your child!! Worrying about what people will think about the disabled child will be the least of my woories!! but then thats me!!

~It will be great to have support from family but if you think your family will not accept a disabled child with open hands then i think i can try to grasp at straws & try real hard to understand/respect our differences in opinion on your views on the topic!
Romance › Re: Guys Who Fall In Love are Fools by mohawkchic(f): 1:21am On Nov 06, 2008
~There's nothing wrong with being a hopeless romantic who falls in love over & over again!!Or believing in Serendipity, the guiding hand of fate!!

~Are you that percentage of guys who have never fallen in love?

~One thing i know about love is this,no matter how determined you are "not to fall in love",when you meet that special someone who'll knock the socks of you, you'wouldnt even know what hit you!! & you'll be all too happy to declare you were a fool to think "Guys Who Fall In Love Are Fools!!"  wink

~You don't plan to fall in love . . .it happens in the most Intense magical way, from the change of rhythm of your heartbeat when you see or are with that person to the the funny flip flop feeling in your tummy  . . aah i love falling in love & it is a very special gift to receive & give back!!

~It wont always be a permanent feeling But its an Irreversible emotion, you can't help the way you feel,If you ask me,its the best feeling in the world . . flaws are non-existent, i want to spend every moment with that person,i feel passion, compassion,i feel like am walking on cloud 9 with a glaze over my eyes!! if that makes me a fool,i'll gladly suffer to be called a fool than not experience falling in love!!
Family › Re: If Your Wife Delivers An Abnormal Child What'll Be Your Action? by mohawkchic(f): 10:25pm On Nov 05, 2008
~As much as i want to have a go at the Original poster,i realise raising awareness about disability will serve a better purpose Plus it gives me the opportunity to write about something i feel very passionate about!!

~No one gets pregnant & wishes for a baby with ill-health,much more any form of disability!!None of us are more special than the parents who have disabled kids,so mayb next time you look at a kid with disability with a shudder,or think "tofiawka"  don't forget they have every right to be here Just like you & me . . .not to suffer or to be stared at but to be loved & cared for!!

~The stigma most african societies puts on disability is just a misconception that makes people scared of the prospect of having a disabled child!! The very idea of having a child with disability would be seen as a curse which is why many kids especially in africa are discrimnated against!! They end up being the victim of "Why me" or "How-did-i-end-up-been-like-this"

~Given that the complexity of the disability isnt the issue here,as"Mr-For-me-seriously-the-orphanage-will-have-a-new-intake" didnt specify what type of disability will make him reach such a decision,I Cannot and Will Not  psych myself not to want to accept a child with any form of disability as common as Physical disability or impairment ie can't walk, talk, hear, see . . . .or Learning disability . . . which most might consider to be a child who is slow or to some people stupid!!

~Or Autism which is a brain disorder which causes impairment in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication &  repetitive behaviors problems or obsessive interests . . . . in a typical african settings that child would be considered to be possessd by demons or whatever reasons is accepted by their standard of tradition/cultural differnces or society in general!!

~It's easy to blame an unknown reason why some children are born with some impairments/disability but in some cases the mother is responsible for such disability/ies!! the most common example will be Mums-to-be who drink too much & use drugs  . . with not so much as a clue of the damages they're doing to their unborn babies!!

She has the thing, winking her eyes at us, if she doesn't want us to eat at someone's house or trying to tell us sth and doesn't want other people outside of the family to know.
~lol . . .aaw grin what is it with that "Eye" or "Look" . . . if you like, that they give most especially when NOT to eat in someone's house ? I know it too well from my Mam & Nana!!

~My Nana takes pride in making sure she introduces us to every neighbor on her road!! and i mean everyone . .no exaggeration cheesy. . . .If she'll have her way, she'll make me say hello to each and every one of these people everytime i visit . . . sometimes some of them come over . .lol,am her very own celebrity & i often feel like one after all the hello's & warm welcome cheesy

~To say am outraged by your own admission is beyond words!!~ angry Your uncanny shrewdness practically broke my heart to know people like you are allowed to live/love/be cared for . . . when you think your own child doesnt deserve that from you & more !!! angry angry angry

~EVERY DISABLED CHILD MATTERS!!~

~Do you for a second think all the parents out there that has special needs child/ren wished it upon themselves? Yet some of them love & care for these kids unconditionally!! I suppose you fall under MOST of the ignorant selfish parents & would -be-parents of kids with special needs who/will abuse their kids, take advantage of the disability funds or pretend to forget they ever had a child w/ special needs . . .heart-rending it is!!

~Yes . . . it can be emotionally & pyhsically draining depending on the child's disabilty . . .most times to the point of breaking down but your responsibilty as a parent to love & care for your child as best as you can, renews your strength to want to do anything possible for your child!!

~I could rant about all the reasons why these kids are special, that they deserve to be here just like you & me . . .but it would just wash over you seeing how you've made up your mind to abandon your child should they have any form of disability & to laugh about it too!!Jeez man . . am aghast!!!

~Am suddenly more aware that the world is indeed a cruel place, would it be better if you didnt think like that tho . . .Naaa sad

I have to admit everytime the thought crosses my mind,i wish it were possible for me to keep my Nana alive & healthy for a couple more decades grin

Family › ~ Lets Talk About Our Grandparents ~ by mohawkchic(op): 2:57pm On Nov 04, 2008
~There's a special relationship that can exist between grandchildren and grandparents!!This thread is dedicated to our memories of that Bond shared between us grandchildren & our grandparents!!

~I share such a special relationship with my maternal Nana & grandpa ,never did get to meet my dada's parents they passed away before i was born !!

~It is with fond memories i write about them here now knowing y'll will have great stories to share about your grandparents, the bond you share~ the special food or love they share with us~ the horror stories they told you shocked lol,i can still hear some of my nana's tales . . . i have been missing her quite a lot lately . . . she's a vibrant ~ strong-willed ~ passionate 70 something year old African woman of virtue, who doesnt seem to age in my eyes!!

~My grandpa passed away some 15 years ago . . . . i still miss him cry!! He was a laid back Irish man who made an effort to learn two local languages. . . he had a pub where we'd run riot, try to sneak in to try beer . . .lol he knew how to put his foot down when needed infact i'd say he was strict sometimes but we had him wrapped round our little fingers grin

~Nana however is that person i can always talk to without fear of her judging my mistakes, she'll be the first to hear about a new man in my life, the first i'll run to to cry about my insecurities/issues . . . .

~There are certain foods i'll only eat if my nana cooks it!! . . . when its the season for certain fruits like mangos, oranges, berries she'll come every weekend with her bag full of fruits & sweety's . . . lol,the way me & my siblings use to run to get to her first so our share will be more than the fastest loser cheesy

~Then there are those times when i have been head-strong stubborn about something & we'll argue and she knows just the words to get me to huff & puff angry she'll be like " I can't believe you'll talk to me like that . . see this pekin way if you didnt look properly in her cot you wudnt even know there's a human being lying there" shocked i was a tiny baby . . she had to stay up into all hours of the night to watch over me when i was born . . watched me while my mum returned to work . . she'll pile the guilt trip till i succum to what she wanted, lol deterined ole lady!! . , to this day she knows just what to say to get me trippin cheesy I love her to bits tho & would do anything for her . . she neednt ask even!!

~Noow i got the ball rolliin,Share your memorable moments with your grandparents!!
Food › Re: What Foods Did You Hate As A Kid That Your Mum Forced You To Eat? by mohawkchic(f): 1:38pm On Nov 04, 2008
whiteroses:
damn mohawkchick, you pretty much hate everything, but you lucky because when I was a kid I wish my mum will give me some of those to eat, i mean who hates eggs, shrimps, butter, sardines, tomatoe, luncheon meat, well apart from liver maybe its because I was a boarder from primary six to s.s2 so if we could sneak those in the hostel we'd be celebrating, well apart from when the boys come and beg and steal some and thats another story lol
~Lol whiteroses . . Now thats the same guilt trip my mama use to give me . . out of my list i have tried really hard over the years to at least eat a couple of things !! tongue

~Sad thing tho is my son is the same as me now, worst even, that boy don't eat chicken, meat . . the list goes on!!
