The Federal Government has filed a fresh charge of money laundering against former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. The former National Security Adviser is standing trial for illegal arms possession while he was in office.

At the resumed hearing of the case at the Federal High Court (FHC) Abuja today October 26th, Counsel to the Federal Government, Shuaib Labaran filed the fresh charge and asked the court to grant its request for a secret trial and also grant that the witnesses brought in by the Department of State Services (DSS) to be masked.

Dasuki’s counsel, Joseph Daudu (SAN), opposed the application of a secret trial, arguing that the case is a harmless one within a democratic setting. The presiding Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, adjourned the case to Wednesday October 28th for ruling.

About 17 people have been confirmed dead and 73 others injured after a bomb ripped through a mosque in Jambutu area in Yola, Adamawa state this afternoon. Many of the Muslim faithfuls were leaving the mosque just after their Friday prayers when the incident happened. This blast comes hours after a similar incident occurred at a mosque in Maiduguri killing 28 people. Most of the injured are in critical condition and have been moved to the federal medical centre, Yola. The state governor has called for blood donation for the injured.

Jennifer Onyebuchi was arrested on September 30th for allegedly stealing a nine-month-old baby in the Ajegunle, Lagos and taking him to Okija, Anambra State.

It was gathered that Onyebuchi, who is from Anambra state, had befriended the baby’s mother, Aina Adetola, for about two weeks before she reportedly stole the infant.
An eye witness who identified himself as Uche said:
“It was on Saturday, September 26. We were all shocked that Jennifer (Onyebuchi) escaped with the nine-month-old baby. She had met the victim’s mother for just two weeks before she carried out the act.
“They were both shop owners in the area. On that day, Jennifer took the baby from his mother when he was crying and said she was going to buy him a bottle of soft drink from a nearby shop.
“When the mother waited for them to return, but did not see them, she raised the alarm. The matter was thereafter reported at the Ajegunle Police Division. Nobody suspected that Jennifer had a devilish motive. It turned out that the woman took the baby to a bus station and travelled on the same day to Okija, Anambra State.”
According to Punch Metro, after they realised what had happened, they reported the matter to police operatives from Lagos, who went after the suspect.
It was gathered that after four days of hiding, Onyebuchi was arrested in Okija, while the baby was also rescued by the police.

Adetola, who is the baby’s mother said that her husband sent her packing from their house, when he discovered that she had given their baby to a stranger.
She said,
“I could not eat for four days. I thought I was going to run mad. I wanted to kill myself, but people continued to calm me down. My husband was so angry that he sent me out of his apartment, and I had to be sleeping in my friend’s house. He said if I did not bring the baby back, I should not return to his apartment. I wept throughout that period.
“I first met Jennifer (Onyebuchi) at a filling station around Boundary bus stop in Ajegunle. She would always assist me when I wanted to buy petrol. She had a shop in the area too. On that Saturday, she had come to my shop when my baby was crying. She carried him and said she was going to buy a drink for him.
“That was my mistake. After hours of waiting for them, I rushed to Akinbo Street at the house where I knew Jennifer stayed, only to be told that she had travelled. I was shocked. That was when I went to the police to make a report.”
A police source in Ajegunle said when the Police visited Jennifer’s rented apartment, her bf said the only person he knew who was related to the suspect was a spare parts dealer who brought her from the village.
He said:
“The police located the spare parts dealer, who suggested that the woman might have travelled to her hometown in Okija, Anambra State. So, the dealer and the police went to Anambra, and they were on her trail for two days.
“On Wednesday, she was arrested. She and the baby were brought back to Lagos on the eve of Nigeria’s Independence Day.
“Some of the residents of the area wanted the police to release the suspect to them, so they would mob her, but that did not happen.”

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with first degree murder after he allegedly shot an eight year old girl in a row about a puppy on Saturday evening in White Pine.
Officers responded to the call at 7:26 p.m. Saturday.
The boy is accused of killing McKayla Dyer near her home after asking to play with her dog.
After she refused he is said to have gone back into his house and fired at her with his father’s 12-gauge shotgun.
According to her mother, McKayla Dyer, 8, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was taken to Morristown-Hamblen hospital, where she later died.
“She was a precious little girl, she was a mommy’s girl, no matter how bad of a mood you were in she could always make you smile,” said McKayla Dyer’s mother, Latasha Dyer.
According to ABC, Both children were White Pine Elementary students according to Sheriff McCoig.
The shooting wasn’t the first time their family had problems with the boy, according to Latasha Dyer.
“When we first moved to White Pine, the little boy was bullying McKayla,” Latasha Dyer said. “He was making fun of her, calling her names just being mean to her, I had to go the principal about him and he quit for a while and then all of a sudden yesterday he shot her.”
Latasha Dyer says she’s heartbroken and their entire family is devastated.
“I want her back in my arms, this is not fair, hold and kiss you’re babies every night because you’re never promised the next day with them,” said Latasha Dyer. “I hope the little boy learned his lesson because he took my baby’s life and I can’t get her back.”

Six policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, have been arrested and detained at the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos State, for killing 33-year-old, Emmanuel Orimisan, in the Ilaje-Ajah, Lagos.
They were all arrested on Wednesday, September 30, after investigations showed that they were culpable in the murder.





The officers had trailed some suspected robbers to their alleged hideout on July 21st in Ilaje community in the Ilaje-Ajah area and in confusion had shot Orimisan who was previously sleeping but had gone outside when he heard gunshots. They killed him and took his body away and they labelled him as one of the suspected robbers.

According to Punch, a source close to the family said that several petitions from the National Human Rights Commission and other human rights groups put pressure on the police, which led to the eventual arrest of the officers who had gone on the raid on that day.
He said, “There were six policemen who came to the area on that day. All of them are now in custody. Since July, the police slowed down investigations on the matter, but the family kept on writing petitions to the right groups. Eventually, the six of them were picked up last week.
“They are in the cell as we speak, and there are indications they will be taken to court before the end of the month.
“The boy was neither a cult member nor an armed robber as the policemen initially claimed. He was not married and he lost his father just last year. They shot him and also took his corpse away from the scene. But after the pressure mounted on the police by rights groups, the officers have now been arrested, and we learnt they will be taken to court very soon.”

Suspected Boko Haram members in the early hours of today attacked Mailari village in Konduga LGA in Borno state killing no fewer than 9 people and injuring 10. The attack was confirmed by the state’s police commissioner, Aderemi Opadukun.
“Today at about 2:00 am, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Mailari village, (in) Konduga LGA (local government area). Nine persons were reported killed while 10 were injured. The injured victims are now being treated at UMTH (University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital” he told reporters.
