Ajsmart:
You’re correct. This is why I maintain that until the average Nigerian/African understand/acknowledge that their current negative state of affair originates from the white man, Africans will never be great and black people will continue to stay at the bottom of the barrel. Anyone who doesn’t emancipate himself from mental slavery will continue to short change himself, family, friends, people and nation.

100% right but most people still don't understand that, they hide history from us but nothing can be hidden under the sun

Career / Re: Should I Resign My Good Bank Job And Start A Business? by mondbest(m): 10:24pm On Jun 01, 2020
Best advice so far, God bless you man

FivePeas:
I think you're being too hasty and would appeal to you not to make a hasty decision that will cause you damage because you sound like someone who's about to react ( from negative reactions ) rather than someone who's about to embark on a well planned action. There's a difference. Trust me I know.

I qualify to give you sound counsel as a business operator and would like to discredit any thoughts of you quitting you job because of your savings.

Let's take it step by step

1. Financial security is important. Can you reduce your monthly expenses and boost your savings so you can save let's say 300k monthly, which in six months gives you an approximate of another 2 Million Naira

2. Start the process of setting up a business while you're still employed. This way you can weigh the options if it's for you or not. And can easily convert your salaries towards the establishment of the business

3. Do not quit your job until you've had a well to Houghton out business plan and have put it into effect. Remember money is just half the equation, the other half the business

4. Be more tolerant rather than being irritated because things aren't working for you from a place of convenience. Start thinking positive thoughts about the positives of your job. I'm sure it can't be all negative. Whatever it's costing you, give yourself the opportunity to reflect and tell yourself giving it six more months for proper planning won't do you harm

5. Get a second accommodation closer to work. So you can shuttle between both ends. Friday home till Sunday. Have you considered this?

Politics / Re: Oil Price Collapses To $11 Per Barrel Amid Covid-19 Pandemic by mondbest(m): 7:31pm On Apr 20, 2020
haywire07:
It's hightime Nigeria stopped international sales of oil in full capacity.
Let us channel ample amount of the oil to a reservoir and save up for a better day.
Cut deals with some African countries and use their reservoirs if ours is filled

When we save enough, the Government should declare our refineries ''out of service".
Luckily, Dangote refinery is near completion.

After this Covid -19 pandemic, we begin to sell from our reservoirs for the main time, while the refineries will be under renovation.

And also very importantly is the need to diversify.

Well spoken but do you think this government have such intelligent person to educate them like this?

Politics / Abba Kyari: Tribute To A Single-minded Patriot, By Babatunde Fashola by mondbest(m): 11:59am On Apr 20, 2020

As the inks flow in tributes to Abba Kyari by those who loved and despised him, let us not forget that Abba was much misunderstood and often maligned.
Wherever you stood then and stand now, let us not forget that Abba was a patriot.
He executed President Buhari’s vision with his own single mindedness. One of his favourite quotes was credited to Jeff Immelt to the effect that “The job looks easy when you are not the one doing it.” He seemed to take a lot of comfort from these words when his actions were misunderstood.
I bear testimony to his dedicated execution of the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund Initiative, which guaranteed funding to cash strapped projects like the Second Niger Bridge, Abuja-Kano Highway, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Mambilla Hydro Project and East-West Road at monthly meetings we held to review progress with Contractors.
Like all of us, Abba was flawed but he was not conceited. He was driven by conviction and never shied from an intellectual argument because his intellect was vast.
We disagreed but I never found Abba disagreeable.
Now that he has paid the supreme price in the service of the fatherland one good way we can honour Abba’s service and memory is to continue where he stopped.
Our most compelling assignment is to make the defeat of COVID-19 an urgent National Assignment to be completed in shortest possible time.
I think Abba would love that very much.
We must now undertake this assignment with a single mindedness similar to Abba’s execution of his own assignment.
This requires all of us, high and low, to observe existing guidelines like hand washing, sanitizing, wearing of face mask, social distancing and staying at home, in order to stop the community spread of the virus.
We must remember that the virus, on its own can only travel about six feet and no more.
If it travels beyond that to our villages, cities, towns, wards, local governments and our homes, we carried it and enabled it to do so by heedlessly transporting it.
My deepest condolences go to Abba’s wife, children and family who gave us their Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Son, and to Mr President and all his immediate Staff and colleagues in the Villa.
Rest in Peace Chief, you served well.
. Fashola (SAN) is the Minister of Works and Housing.

Politics / COVID-19: PDP Demands Suspension Of ATM, Mobile Transfer, Electricity Charges by mondbest(m): 11:01am On Apr 20, 2020

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP demand the suspension of charges for use of ATM and low amount mobile fund transfers during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The party made the call in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday in Abuja.
It stated the suspension of such charges should be part of the panacea to ease the burden on poor Nigerians during the lockdown.
The party called on the on the Central Bank of Nigeria to immediately open an arrangement with commercial banks to suspend the charges.
Ologbondiyan said the lockdown had subjected majority of Nigerians to extensive use of ATM and mobile transfers for survival, making the suspension of charges on minimal transactions within this period of restriction highly imperative.
He said the lifting of the charges within the period of COVID-19 pandemic would ease the burden on cash withdrawals by vulnerable citizens and encourage more Nigerians to support one another at this critical time.
The party said: “The PDP demands the CBN to immediately liaise with commercial banks and stimulate a special social sustenance modality to defray the cost of such charges, particularly to cover minimal transactions in favour of vulnerable Nigerians.”
Ologbondiyan also urged the Federal Government to activate similar social sustenance scheme to immediately defray electricity tariff, particularly in areas populated by low income and vulnerable Nigerians, within the period of the lockdown.
He said: “The PDP calls on the Federal Government to show compassion on suffering Nigerians whose means of subsistence have been crippled by the lockdown, and immediately provide funds to electricity distribution companies to actuate the tariff suspension within this period.”
He also advised the Federal Government to immediately commence the collation of data from trade unions and cooperative societies covering low income groups such as market women, Okada riders, artisans, cab drivers and labourers among others.
This, according to him, is for possible economic recovery funds and loans to buoy their businesses at the end of the lockdown.
He said citizens were passing through difficult and harrowing experiences.
Ologbondiyan said the PDP was worried that the Federal Government was yet to reach out to most vulnerable Nigerians, whose survival directly depended on daily income in the markets, shops and streets crippled by the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Consequently, the PDP restates its call on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately extend similar financial intervention that was released to Lagos state to all other states of the federation,” he said.
He also called on the President to take immediate steps to end alleged corruption in the social intervention scheme, especially palliatives funds.
“Such social investment funds should be channeled to states for disbursement through the machinery of local governments, traditional institutions and community leadership to ensure that they reached the target vulnerable groups,” he said.
He also called on the Federal Government to declare monies so far donated by private individuals, firms and donor agencies.
Ologbondiyan called on the government to immediately constitute an Eminent Nigerian Group drawn from the private sector to manage the fund to eliminate corruption, bureaucratic and political bottlenecks.
He said: “Our primary focus as  a party remains the welfare of our citizens as we stand with them in this battle to check the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in our country.”
