Geofavor: you're welcome. most introverts don't like to talk unless they feel it's important. In this guy's case, what's important to him is that your friend is okay. This is why he cuts the call as soon as that is confirmed. Anyother talks aside that will seem unnecessary to him, and it will be hardwork for him to keep up with the conversation from then on. For an introvert, a phone call is like an official call - strictly business. ( unless with very close friends with which they share common interests. E.g football, music, career path nd so on)
That he even manages to call twice a month is because it is imperative that he knows his bae is okay. He would have tried to call many times, but the thought would often come to his mind; "what would we be talking about"? He'll try but he won't be able to. This could be because he's not TOTALLY free with her yet. this is why she has to consider using those tips i suggested before.
Ogun state is not that far from lagos. She can call him, give him a good excuse to come visit him. He might feel reluctant about it, but deep within him he'd really appreciate it. She should try those tips each time they are together.
He's an introvert, he will only veer away from his introverted behavior towards her when she becomes his(or one of his) close buddy(ies).
I'm sure the guy has maybe one or two friends he talks to almost all the time. An introvert can only manage to bend the rules of introversion and become extroverted when with people very close to him. People who know him totally. true talk. I am very free with pple I am close to. An acquitance once met me 'flowing' among my main guys and he said "if person see u, he go think so u no dey talk o" |

We have our shortcomings as introverts. But once u notice it. Make conscious efforts to overcome them. I am knwn in my work place by my close pals of not speaking much... What I do now is to try to focus on watever issues raised so i can contribute...
One other thing is that I find it hard to start a conversation.. especially with strangers. I dont how my friend does it. He is extroverted. I envy him alot especially when it comes to dealing with ladies. |

Onajevwe: Although they say honesty is the best policy, I'd recommend that you have a palatable explanation ready for that large gap of six years plus in your résume.
I'd suggest you fill those years up with a teaching or clerical job. If the CV you submitted has that gap, you could explain to them that you were involved in teaching or clerical work. If asked why you omitted the experience, tell them you felt it isn't relevant for the position you applied for.
Remember to stay calm and relaxed while telling these tales.
I wish you success in your interview.
P.S. i have a small handbook on interview success tips which I found useful in my last interview. My GF also found it useful for her interview with the bank she currently works. Send you your e-mail if interested so I can forward you a pdf copy of the book. Pls I need d book. will be glad if u can forward it to odioneo@gmail.com thk u. |

thesoj: Read the previous 50-100 pages and you will find your answer on a platter of gold . Also read through @richcasey's links for a condensed treasure trove of valuable information.
I would advise that you don't only apply to schools with cheap tuition particularly if your BSc CGPA is above 4.0. As a PhD applicant, you should get funding if you play your cards right; this post (link edited) should help you on tips to find a research supervisor.
After you get admission, you should read at least 400-500 pages of the thread. Thanks. See u when I'm done reading |

darefestus: Undergrad or postgraduate?
Undergrad tuition is contigent on a number of factors but If you are going for postgrad, with the right profile, you may not even have to pay a dime.
Let us know your profile and your choice location of study and you will get the best advice. I knw I am kind of late here. I'm interested in a PhD prog in Canada. I need ur advice on an affordable Uni. Tuition free is preferable. I hope i will find help here. Thanks. |

I belong to the construction industry. I just saw a post from a CCECC which is another firm in the same industry and I knew the situation is not akin to us only. I have already made up my mind to make this post. So here we go...
My coy is having financial issues since the change of govt. and we were ask to stay off work for a couple of months. After some negotiations with the relevant agencies, my MD was asked to complete the remainder of his job (less than 2km) so he can make his claims. He estimated to complete the job in less than two months.
He recalled us back and held a meeting. He announced that all workers will be based on a salary of N15k a month for the duration of the job. All workers accepted except mua. Majority of the workers are drivers and operators whose take home pay is btw 25 - 35k. But I am on N70k a month. Accepting N15k seems like an insult to me. I operate the asphalt plant which is computerized. Though I av a Master degree in Mech Engrg, I wasnt employed based on academic qualifications. I was employed because I could operate and maintain the Production Plant. Mind u, when I came in, I insisted on 90k while he said he will pay 100k if i can successfully operate the plant. And that since the materials are not ready then he will place me on 70k until everything is ready for my practical interview. it took 2 months for it to be ready. so i was paid N70k monthly during that period for doing next to nothing. After passing the test exceedingly well at the commencement of work, I reminded him of our gentlemanly agreement. But he said I should continue like that for the time being. A year and 6months later, this is happening.
Prior to the 'melt down' he always insinuate that my pay can settle two to three of other workers pay.
Now fellow Nlanders, put urself in my shoes. Will u accept this drastic pay cut? Transportation cost is estimated at N4800monthly |
