passwelle:I hereby send this one to the gutters, too. Laff wan tear my trousers ![]() |
Born2berich:Oga mi, does this stock still pass for #joke of the year ? ![]() |
@ibe9ja: I admire your bravery, not your expressions. I had made similar observation as yours about that moniker in recent weeks. There are other monikers like him who troll this thread just to promote Oando but this particular investor who bought 1million units @ NGN 17 and holidays at the UAEmirates forgets, perhaps, that in a forum like NSEMPA you can only push mischief a little forward, but not too far. If Nigeria had more people like you (@ibe9ja) who can challenge deceit and unscrupulous inclinations, with modesty and civility, then we will have a better society. |
mercylicious:The fact that you sef don hear about Godwin, na Godwin. In Korede's voice: Mercylicious don hear Godwin, na Goduwin ![]() Madam, I doubt that you don't know where that term comes from, but for the benefit of this doubt, it's one of those clowning songs that litter the Nigerian entertainment scene. Google Korede Bello. #returns to market mode |
ihedioramma:And your response shows you have got 'somthing' to talk Talking about other people's profits![]() Bishop ihedi ![]() #wonders shall never end ![]() |
FranklinRich:Certainly, Sir, I agree with your analysis. And, in the voice of myjoy08, I would say "Buy, buy, buy, buy". My caution was on increasing your stake in your current holding, not on accumulating new gold mines. I was worried that your earlier post sounded like you are "averaging up". |
@Boss FranklinRich: Always enjoying the ride. Be careful of accumulating on thy paper profits. Would you rather exit at the peaks and await another trough? @soloniger: Day traders might use 1-2% (I would prefer 1%). Short termers might use 5% and 8% for tranche-purchase/exit by intermediate or long-term investors - all excluding brokerage. Kindly share your view, too. @Pastor SWG-1: So na you stand gidigba like rock inside that PROP stock? Biko, allow us join at #10 before the final onslaught. Plus, I hereby plead for the Otta coy: Let sleeping dogs lie. Don't monkey-hunt on that coy, cos some of us dey watch am in 4-D. Biko! ![]() |

@jauntty: Thanks again for the link. @all: I know many other ogas here, including Elai 147, have shared valuable resources many hundred pages away on this thread. But page 777 ("is a number Oluwashina" ) is a page we can easily refer newbies to get the link/book by @jauntty.@myjoy08: "I don't wanna wait in vain for your love". Biko, PM me if the answer has some issues. Thanks Sir. |
passwelle:Absolutely, bro. It's a foundational book, more comprehensive than many of its kind. A trading plan will prevent many mishaps. Buy the rumour, sell the news (cc: feelamong) About emotional investing, there's some emotions (or guts) involved when one invests in a stock that one is nowhere near the Board of Directors...but activating stop losses saves blushes. |
TheWholeTruth:Bros Young, the guy might be attending evening service na. He might just want to catch some monkeys this morning. Just one monkey would be enough, cos at all at all na im bad pass! ![]() |
Machine075:Bros, if you know Chibu well well, you may not want to imagine what he was thinking. Just take him for his word...cos he may return later to defend his Mainframe computer statement. ![]() |
oga mi myjoy08: I have a sincere (not ) question for you. Please answer it sincerely: What stock were you talking about in page 654/655 of this thread? |
@FranklinRich: It's interesting watching investors' sentiments in HD. You learn a lot about life, not excluding the futility of predictions. Hope you're currently devouring another "Buffeted" piece. @Toluway: mercylicious has said it all. But, hey, the new Toluway seems different from the one I used to know. Did someone hack into your account or is it an effect of the prolonged market slump? |
chillykelly86: ![]() I thought oga Chibu made a mistake. Mainframe computer really tickled me. |
megainvest:It is worthy, at this moment of investors' adrenaline surge, to recall how fallible prophecies are. Recently, a certain pRoPhEt chibok foresaw fire and brimstone regarding Nigeria's 2015 and hinged his investment decisions on it. He continued to dissuade many people from investing based his suspicions. When his predictions failed, he disappeared into thin air...maybe started accumulating stocks in secret. (only to return later for unsolicited posts on profits he had made) About 9-11 months ago, Oxygen was the rave of the moment on this thread. With people saying "Oando will get to N35; see you at N100 etc" People even used hastags #teamtranscorpoando. I remember those days if intense emotions. Yet, we know where the stocks are today. And another season of forward looking statements and emotional outpouring from investors of Oxygen has started again. @megainvest (and all traders with sound reasoning): This post is not to disparage you or trample on your right of opinion. It is to remind us that some posts are better kept to ourselves, and not shared in public space. In the long run, the market doesn't care about the feelings, wishes, impressions or projections of any investor and many future-looking posts don't often help any sound investor. They only generate emotional stress and arguments among investors. Saying FBNH will get to whatever price on Tuesday because of the recent trading on it can only be laughable. Why Tuesday? Why not Monday or Friday? Proverbs 17:28 #peace |
bigass:Biko, na Taiwo Mamman be the shark. Thanks for the correction, biggie. Coordinator of tutorials aiye! Laff wan tear my trouser ![]() |
courage89:Since June of last year? I quit the same stock since June of last year. Why do I have a feeling I sold my holdings to you? ![]() |
@megainvest To simplify this issue for other readers: There is only one Mark down date. You may ignore the range (e g 21-24 that many Nigerian companies quote). To be safe, just make sure you buy the stock before the first of the 2 dates. Why would you wait till 22nd or 23rd when you can buy the stock on 20th or 21st? |
@megainvest. There is some disparity between your response to austinibe7777 and the answer to your earlier question. The investopedia article you quoted makes NO mention of settle date. This is where you got it twisted, I'm afraid. Now let's see the question again. Mark down date is 22/4. Bear sold on 21/4 to Bull. The settle date of Bull is 24/4. Going by your response to austinibe, Bull will get the div only if he bought on 19/4 (I.e 3 days before mark down date) For Bear, you didn't mention his settle date. If his settle date is 21/4, then he won't get the div. And since Bull settle date is 24/4, the div will return to the company (option C of your question). If his settle date is 24/4 then he will get the div, cos his name would still be on the register on 22/4 (mark down). This was the reply of oga Elai and others who said Mr Bear. Investopedia implied that "anyone who buys before mark down date will get the div" without reference to the T+3 rule. #open to corrections |
@Boss Elai147: Your post has shown how passionate you are about newbies. But if juxtaposed with @mercylicious recent posts and my response when she called for advise to newbies, it would appear that no one can fully advise another regarding stock trading. One line in your post sums up this truth: "So it is important to learn how to do these things yourself and limit your dependency." In the same vein, I do not think this thread was created for people to seek advice (as you mentioned in your last paragraph). Yes, people can ask for opinions of other investors. But anyone who needs advice or who be like "I have 500K please advise me on what stocks to buy", should either keep the money in the bank or look for a good fund manager. Stock Trading is largely an art, after the technique or science has been fairly understood. It is unfair to you, oga Elai147 or any other person, to keep advising, advising and advising when someone is just interested in dumping their savings in some magical stock, and walk away. Anyone who isn't ready to READ shouldn't trade. SHIKENA! #no hard feelings #unfortunately, some future newbies won't bother to read several pages of this thread before commenting. |
passwelle:Absolutely! Your last line mirrors a quote I often repeat in my early days on this thread: The easiest way of making money in the stock market is to follow the big boys. Big boys: Big volumes and trades (liquidity), Market Capitalization, Sound Fundamentals, Institutional Investors. If you chase these, "you shall never walk alone" ! |
Yem0350:Unfortunately, this is a faceless forum with different personalities. It may sound a bit Puritan trying to force virtue out of every moniker. I once posited a way out for newbies ( intermediatebies and oldbies ) : Be careful of what you believe in a faceless forum. Though it may appear that no one will gain anything by claiming false profits or investments, but you may never know. To thine own self be true. Refuse to be intimidated by whatsoever portfolio size you see here. All fingers are not equal. (In African China's voice) |
Agbalowomeri: Nna ehn! I know you just dey pull my legs. But to be sure, and as evidenced by my posts on NL, I do not approve of that act. Our Ikoyi prophet has done it consistently with admirable success - discount the volumes of acid he has been bathed with in the process. And he has an accomplice... The Eterna oil monkey merchant himself! ![]() |
@mercy and cadno: Vitafoam was trading in a channel before the market slump. Though NGN 4.50 isn't a clear resistance, it may well be considered as one for two reasons: Being the upper limit of the channel breached 10 months ago and, second, the candlesticks of the past few days. However, the technical indices connote an impending bull wave. Whatever happens today will determine the next few days. But I think you may be able to pick it up again at your earlier price, pretty soon. |
maslong: ![]() Oga Agbalowomeri, you don hear am from another person. I know you know Pa Emma well. He has missed us so much. But when someone was trying to misinform us about Oando, he had to come out of his "guest mode". It's not easy to date a lady for 20yrs and then hear someone spell her name wrongly. ![]() |
