presiade:And what manner of man makes a living by flogging a dead horse? #smh |
Youngzedd:Odikwa very critical, nwokem ukwu. ![]() |
presiade:Nice message, bro. For all we care, a couple of things are involved: 1. This dude doesn't see anything wrong in repeating the same message over and over again, which says a lot about his personality, especially SELF-CONTROL. 2. He actually has the liberty to post whatsoever he wishes as NL is accessible to those who abide by the rules guiding comments. 3. Many people of his calibre can afford a smartphone which they use to unleash their acts on the Internet. Please, blame this on Tecno, LG, et al ![]() 4. There's an entity termed "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder". I would advise the bear himself to Google this and, perhaps, see the experts. Above all, it is advisable that those who don't subscribe to his style be wary of cyber-bullying. Life comes in different shades, and if myjoy08 enjoys enough patronage on this thread, the pRoPhEt himself is also entitled to some NL space. We can only skip to the next comment! The only folks I feel for are the newbies - they may be fed with indefensible philosophy. (NB Moneysage isn't a repertoire of sound ideas; "I know nothing" ![]() |
(Sorry NSEMPA for this LONG dialogue) @pdozie: I'm afraid you're getting this a bit twisted. Now, permit me to reiterate what oga kotlass earlier explained: If you want to place a BUY order for ANY stock using the STOP LIMIT, you MUST place your PRICE LIMIT above the STOP price. E.g. X is trading at 2.5 and you want to BUY, your STOP PRICE could be 2.51 or 2.6 and your PRICE LIMIT could be 2.9(i.e you don't wanna buy that stock for more than 2.9) If you want to place a SELL order for ANY stock using the STOP LIMIT, you MUST place your PRICE LIMIT below the STOP price. E.g. X is trading at 2.5 and you want to SELL, your STOP PRICE could be 2.45 or 2.40 and your PRICE LIMIT could be 2.35(i.e you don't wanna sell that stock for less than 2.35) If memory serves me right, the position of Meritrade when we discussed this issue last is that: On the Meritrade platform, you would see 3 different types of orders (LIMIT, MARKET, STOP LIMIT). The LIMIT order was advised to be used. Hence, if you're traveling and won't be able to monitor your portfolio, just set a LIMIT order (for BUY or SELL). E.G the limit prices of stock X above. That means you don't want Meritrade to BUY above that price nor SELL below that price. Shikena Please, @pdozie, DELETE ABSOLUTELY the second to the last paragraph of your last post. None of kotlass, Moneysage or stockbull implied the lines of your thought. Regards. |
@kotlass: Thanks for the submission - and it's clarity. With all humility, I had read the investopedia article. Yours sincerely was even one of the folks who discussed this issue on this thread about a year ago and, though Oga Elai 147 and Meristem did a good explanation, it was the investopedia page that settled my quest. Your answer to @pdozie's challenge (in the later part of your post) and my straight forward answer to him (lines 2 and 3 of my last post) are ONE and the SAME. @pdozie: The Transcorp trade scenario painted by @kotlass (which I also thought about and have been trading by) is the correct usage of the stop orders. Where your question went awry is that the situation you called BUY should have been a SELL situation, and vice versa. If the question remains as you put it, it surely won't make much sense to any broker. He will just simply use any LIMIT you put [however low(for your BUY situation) or high(for your sell situation)] or ignore your order and tie wrapper, sit down, wear face cap, and expect you to call... ![]() |
@pdozie: The answers to your questions are these: BUY, STOP price = 4 SELL, STOP price = 7 Bro, STOP simply means "trigger", "execute", "ogbeni broker do something". ![]() Hence, going by your question your STOP prices are defined by the statements that begin with "Assuming..." Do you get it? Maybe you should have rather asked about Price limits: LIMIT simply means "ogbeni broker, don't touch my portfolio when the price don reach dis level, biko" Now, let's slot this tutorial into your question again: BUY... Current price =5 STOP price =4 (execute, do something) Price limit = You should fix this price BELOW 4; and this could mean either 3.5 or 2.7 or 0.9 or anything below 4 (i.e you're telling your broker not to buy again when the price falls below this level). Now, why on earth will anyone wanna do this? Tell your broker not to buy below 2.7 when the stock can be bought for 1.5?? This, perhaps explains why the STOP limit is rarely used (as @stockbull mentioned), EXCEPT if you want to fix the STOP price and the PRICE limit at the same level (as I answered earlier on). And that would mean: "Broker, please BUY this stock when it fall to 4(stop) , but don't buy below 4(limit) ". Still sounds VERY weird! This explains why the LIMIT PRICE ONLY is usually used and would be chosen by the broker if a confusing order is placed. NB: I'm not sure one can place a LIMIT price ABOVE a STOP price. What a clumsy BUY order that would be! #I wish I can do the SELL scenario, but it's late this night. #I also hope this helps #I stand to be corrected |
kotlass: ![]() I love the observations about the two pRoPhEts. However, it's the metamorphosis of the Ikoyi pRoPhEt that amazes me: He stormed this thread 7-8 months ago with prophecies, prayers and persuasive posts. He even doles out weekend prayers and blesses those who pour acids on him. But now .... How much of a MONKEY HUNTER he has become! Words of motivation seem to have left his lexicon, save "we are making money this year". He no longer compels newbies to BUY, he just tells them to do their homework... And calls on oga Agba to pump up stocks, at will. Oga abeg, na joke o...but small truth dey inside am. ![]() |
Pinkyeyes:Please, who are those you refer to as "we"? i.e Is your Dad included the pronoun? If 'yes', then all "you" need is your Dad's means of identification and his Banker's Confirmation of Signature. With these two documents, Veritas Registrars might resolve your uncleared warrants. You might also want to send an email to: enquiry@veritasregistrars.com Best wishes. |
@immanuello: I wish I was privy to NEM's impending corporate plans. That said, the coy doesn't fit my investment philosophy, though it may do well for short-termers. In the short term, with or without reference to the stock's valuation metrics, an upside of 20% is attainable. But a pull back to 0.60 may precede the bull run, especially in view of looming economic events. And this correlates, however imperfectly, with the current accumulation the stock is experiencing and with Myjoy08's response. |

Permission to rephrase, Sir: "when Nigerian leaders KEEP MILKING THE COUNTRY DRY, the masses are left to FEED THEIR HUGE APPETITE." Anyway, as for NSEMPA, we are making money this year! (in the voice of myjoy08). Even if the Nigerian leaders send CBN, SEC and Onyeama to us... we shall still make money!!! ![]() |
@Oga Aks: Thanks for the kind advice to the pRoPhEt. ChibuEZE, nwokem di ike...okereke... And I warned you severally o! See as people dey feed on your flesh! When someone thinks he has enough experience in the NSE (I refuse to call it roadside experience), thinks he is old enough... Has OND, BSc, MSc, works for LGA/FGN, blah blah and wants to make everyone hear his prophecies ad nauseatum... The fellow will have himself to blame. The last fellow who tried this with Oando (brandishing 20 yrs love affair with Oando) is cooling off elsewhere... NSEMPA don't tolerate bullies, especially BEAR bullies. Even, oga mi Myjoy08 has had some acid bath before. ![]() One semi-last card for you: Please, walk into the nearest bookshop to you and buy a copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. When you execute the book, kindly return here to give Moneysage a high-five. I fit chop knuckle, too. ![]() |
If anyone has ever desired to hold huge portions of fundamentally sounds stocks in the Nigerian bourse, this is about the best time to do so. The darkest part of the night is just before the dawn. Have a green week, folks. ![]() |
@Kagame: Thumbs-up to you for the rational presentation of your sentiment analysis. I am also deeply moved by your later acceptance of how "anything can happen". Indeed, the range of uncertainty is uncertain. IMO, and going by the uncertainty riddled in your post, the answer to their puzzle lies in the bank you adored and then quickly condemned. Another puzzle? ![]() By and large, I believe many members of this forum will be better for it if we had more posts like yours... Not persistent shaky prophecies that would be forced down the throat of unsuspecting and superficial investors. @London Cool: You are making money this year!!! If you don't, please let me know; WE shall do something about it. ![]() It is plausible that the financial services sector will feel the effects of a weakened currency, but no less than they were expected regarding the CBN's CRR. |
lionshare:Hello Sir. I have seen your NL profile and if I link it to this post of yours (provided this post isn't a joke), this would be my advise to you: 1. Kindly stay out of the stock market THIS WEEK, THIS MONTH, NEXT MONTH... The stock market doesn't hurt those who aren't in it, neither is it the only source of income. 2. While you're abstaining from the stock market, do a Google search for books that will teach you about the market. You may also search a local store around you for any of those. Easier still check out www.investopedia.com 3. Start following this thread daily or start reading from any convenient page. 4. Return in 2-3 months time to thank all of us on here. Regards, Moneysage. |
LondonCool:Carrot stick, then orange. ![]() |
Seems the latest style is: Constitutional Proviso before Prophecy. And the pRoPhEt finally agrees that extra-territorial extra-political factors make good sense. "the range of uncertainty is uncertain... possibility is impossible... impossible is a possibility... " ![]() |
![]() You no go kee me o, @MiCarino. Bro, hope you're enjoying your current car. I remember your allusion to your first vehicle. #just when I thought I could "hit and run"... |
After all the PR that Morgan Capital has enjoyed on this thread, I think it's high time they opened a thread that will solve challenges experienced by their clients. Oga Yemo, abeg do something! @currentprice: You don take your teeth-shining to another level... attacking the pRoPhEt... you will surely get away with this humor cos the pRoPhEt is harmless. You dare not try this with Dexterax... in those days! ![]() |
mercylicious:Thanks, my dear Val! Me sef love you very much. Shall we have a valentine splash at thy farm? @chukyjones: the dude you're looking for is currently under the seige of the pRoPhEt. When their "salary week vs NSE bull run" failed to hold water, they have resorted to election conspiracy theories to beguile people like bishop Ihedi. #Laff wan tear my trousers. |
Those who were planning to buy stocks by first week of February (according to the predictions of the pRoPhEt), una dey hia? Meanwhile, the pRoPhEt himself is at large. Wonders shai nefa end! ![]() |

Kudos to you all for keeping things moving on NSEMPA. It's such an interesting house! @Kagame: I'm not sure you read the interaction I had with the same fellow that you had that interaction with. If you did, you might have abstained and won't need to read any form of CV. As you mentioned, some of us have moved on... we just scroll down to the next post when we see their trademark. Nevertheless, your moniker reminds me of Paul Kagame (seems he was at CHOGM 2003, if I remember vividly) @janykute: abeg no vex for prophet! @ALL: Can't wait for the Bulls to return...but will keep waiting for the y-axis of stocks to touch their lowest lows Some of don't have the luxury of time for JIJO, but we really love the game. Best wishes to you all. |
@Charlesnerd: With this post of yours - especially the powerful last statement - if I were a lady, I would have asked you to marry me TODAY. ![]() |
MilikiAgent: ![]() Meanwhile, pa ihedioranma dikwa present at this very time. ![]() |
@Oga mi kotlass: I 'see' that you're a pacifist and a prophet. Your 'seeing' of NSEMPA crushes as personality reflection is in order, but as a reflection of 'state of affairs' is taking prophecy to a higher dimension. ![]() People can convert their gall to useful means, such as prayer for the nation. Yet, it shouldn't stop them from stopping the track of some folk who wants to score cheap points. We need not answer a fool according to his folly (as Proverbs 26:4 enjoins us), but we can address some of their crushes so that they when next they return to NSEMPA, they are more humble and watch before they post. #shikena ![]() |
@Dumexybaba: (special post for you lest I be tagged along with the haters) When next you visit the Emirates, kindly PM me so that I see your face...and prolly tap some of the confidence you've been advocating. @bishop ihedioranma: My fellow security man...let's keep waking up between 2a.m and 5a.m to post funny comments here. Jah bless my bitl. ![]() |
@Oga mi kotlass: Seems no one on NSEMPA has ever had a 'crush' on you. If so, you'll know it's not always easy sitting in front of your device and read some insults hurled at you from a faceless fellow. Faceless koo...facefull ni...perhaps it's only myjoy08 and prophet chibu that can stomach veiled criticisms. Kudos to Avantajj and MiCarino for a peaceful resolution. @Charlesnerd: I've always thought you were a nerd fah. Which one be 'frontally packaged' again? You didn't respond to B2B Rich's query; now may I add that you show us a 'pishure' of what you exactly mean. NB I'm also a learner like B2BRich. ![]() @bigass and mercylicious: You ladies shook and moved this thread this year. I salute your confidence, persistence and sense of humor. @nitrogen, Elai 147, B2BRich, currentprice ( ), omoajo1, lancee, Dexterax, FranklinRich, PW baba, presiade, SWG-1, jamace, madu nile....Well done for a good 2014...let's do it again next year.@Joysmart and myjoy08: Greetings! @Ukwuamu and Agbalowomeri baba: I hail thee both. Your sagacity and exertions regarding Afriprud and rational investing emains crystal clear...never mind the market slump. @ayztech: I greet thee. |
myjoy08: Perhaps you have also seen how funny this dude can be. The price gain today only reminds me of a similar phenomenon 4-5 weeks ago. The only thing that seems clear in my mind is that there may be light at the end of the tunnel, but how long the tunnel is remains another question. |
Nwannem, see as your yeye full everywhere! 1.) You've merely lent credence to my cynicism regarding long posts and the monikers that author them. If you subscribe to the Holy Bible, kindly read Ecclesiastes 6:11...and ponder on those words. 2.) Having read your forecasts repeatedly (and alluded to them), I decided to engage your logical aptitude. Perhaps I forgot that pRoPhEcIeS have little or no logical relevance, but I can bet that anyone who has a SOUND mind and has followed the conversation between you and I in relation to your daily/periodic rants will agree with the maxim: Empty barrels make the loudest noise. Chibuking81, I wish you well in your extensive independent market research. Happy investing in Feb/March...or whenever! PS: Only freedom of information and the anonymity of social media allows people to wash their dirty linen in the public. #Happy weekend, NSEMPA ![]() |
