PoliticsStop Fulani’s Genocide, Don’t Interfere In Election Tribunal; Buhari Told by Monimatic(op): 10:34am On Oct 06, 2015
Jos – Citizens of Plateau State have urged President
Muhammadu Buhari and the Sultanate not to interfere in
the activities of the Election Petition Tribunals in the State
but rather intervene in the persistent clashes between
Fulani and Berom in the State.
The citizens identified as Greater Together Voice, GTV
who passed a “vote of no confidence” on Governor
Simon Lalong on his four months of governance also
faulted the Governor on the manner he is handling the
lingering crises in the State.
In a statement issued in Jos at the weekend and signed
by Mssrs Azi Madaki and Nanpak Gono, the group’s
Public Relations Officer and Assistant Public Relations
Officer respectively, they called on the Governor to
balance the “lopsided and infamous appointments so far
made in the State.”
The statement reads, “We lend our voices to the
maladministration, misrule, misgovernance and the total
abandonment of the rule of law by the four months old
All Progressives Congress, APC government of Governor
Simon Lalong.
“We call to order the Governor’s directionless
administration to not only retrace its steps but take
urgent initiatives to provide good governance in the State
and fulfill all campaign promises made to the populace.
“The Greater Together Voice is hereby passing a vote of
no confidence on the Lalong administration in its 100
days in office and therefore call on President Buhari and
the Sultanate not to interfere in the activities of the
Election Petition Tribunals in Plateau State.
“They should come to the rescue of the people of Plateau
North, particularly the Berom ethnic group which on the
verge of extinction through the genocidal activities of the
Fulani militia who believe that with the President as their
grand patron, they are infallible.”
The duo further called on Governor Lalong without any
delay to settle the backlong of workers’ salaries and
pension arrears since he has collected “N10.8 billion
loans from UBA and Zenith banks, access N4.2 billion
LNG fund released and received N5,3 billion CBN bailout,
among others.”

PoliticsAPC Has Exhausted Its Basket Of Lies, Propaganda — Wike by Monimatic(op): 9:58am On Oct 05, 2015
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has refuted the allegations levelled against him by the All Progressives Congress that he put into motion plans to prevent the immediate governor, Rotimi Amaechi from being confirmed as a minister. He further said the allegation was not only spurious, but also malicious, adding that APC had apparently exhausted its basket of lies and propaganda. It will be noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had vowed to resist any move or plan to scuttle clearance of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi by the Senate for ministerial appointment. The party made the vow following an allegation that Governor Nyesom Wike and his loyalists in the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had perfected plans to protest against the nomination of the former governor as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari. Governor Wike, in the statement issued by his media aide, Inko-Taria, said the allegation was, yet, another propaganda by APC and challenged its leadership to prove itself. “The allegation is not only spurious, but fatuous and malicious. Governor Wike has no cause to orchestrate a protest against the appointment of Rotimi Amaechi. Let me restate for the umpteenth time that Governor Wike has no nexus with the appointment of Amaechi or otherwise. It is the right of an appointor to appoint anybody of his choice, provided such appointment is in sync with the relevant laws.” “The appointment of Amaechi will definitely have no bearing on the governance of Rivers State. There are crucial issues the governor is more concerned which are issues of the state and not trifles like the appointment of Amaechi. It is apparent that APC in Rivers State has exhausted its basket of lies and barren propaganda but still wants to be heard or noticed despite its waned popularity in the state. “Governor Wike’s concern now is how to clear the rubbish Amaechi left behind in his eight years of maladministration that had impoverished the state and the people. “Therefore, if APC is dispensing such unfounded falsehood as a strategem, it has failed. Or, is APC distraught that Amaechi might not scale through the screening because of his sleazy antecedents? “If that is the problem, it should think of how to sort out its problem and not spread falsehood to gain sympathy. Governor Wike is not interested in Amaechi’s matter because it is inconsequential”, Inko-Tariah said.

PoliticsPDP Delayed Buhari's Ministerial List -APC by Monimatic(op): 10:35pm On Sep 15, 2015
The Ondo state Chapter of the All
Progressives Congress, APC in a Tuesday
statement blamed the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP for President
Muhammadu Buhari's delay in
appointing ministers.

The Party, in a statement made available
to newsmen by its Publicity Secretary,
Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya disclosed
that 16 years of misrule,
maladministration, unprecedented
corruption and mismanagement of state
treasury affected the smooth take-off of
the President Muhammadu Buhari-led
federal government.
Part of the statement read, ''the rantings
of PDP about President Buhari’s
ministerial list is unnecessary,
diversionary and unfounded. It is logical
for anyone who intends to make a
nearly-collapsed building habitable, to
first demolish it and then lay a solid
foundation before building on it. We
met a virtually empty treasury and a
battered system handed over by the Dr.
Goodluck Jonathan led-PDP government.
Nigeria, as a country, was in comatose
when Buhari took over government on
May 29, 2015. Anarchy and impunity
were the order of the day, and infact the
nation was rock bound. Even the Bible
says, “what can the righteous do, when
the foundation is destroyed?''.
“We expect Dr. Jonathan and PDP to be
remorseful and bury their heads in
shame. They should apologise to
Nigerians for running the country like a
Banana Republic. Yet, they have the
temerity and audacity to fault a
government that has good plans for
Nigerians. PDP leadership lacks morals
and shame. Who in this country, doesn’t
know that Jonathan and his party are
responsible for the messy and sorry
state of affairs we find ourselves today?”
“Certainly, Nigerians, both at home and
in diaspora know better and can adduce
that Dr Jonathan and PDP are only
playing to the gallery with the devious
intention of distracting President
Muhammadu Buhari in order to cover
up their mess and in an attempt to
downplay the war against corruption”.

PoliticsBuhari’s Cabinet: North Targets Top Ministries by Monimatic(op): 12:36am On Aug 31, 2015
Following a good showing in the series of appointments
made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari, the North
appears unrelenting in its bid to sweep the major ministerial
positions considered as key to the development of the
North.
Sources in the polity told the Sunday Tribune that Buhari has
received pats on the back for what was considered
“commendable” appointments made so far, which have
completely placed the North in the driver’s seat of the
Nigerian Presidency.
Regions of the North have so far dominated the Principal
Offices in the Villa, a departure from the past when
positions were largely shared along geopolitical lines.
Though the Presidency said on Friday that it would ensure
balance in future appointments, it was gathered that the
Northern establishment is unrelenting in its quest for
ministries considered as key to the control of power.
It was gathered that messages have been communicated to
Buhari that key ministries, including Defence, Agriculture,
Finance, Works, FCT and Petroleum are to be zoned to the
North.
It was gathered that a delegation of the Arewa Consultative
Forum (ACF) had already met with the president to convey
the desire to him.
Sunday Tribune also gathered that despite the assurances
that the government would balance future appointments,
there is actually no way to balance anymore as the
remaining appointments are guided by statutes.
For instance, a source said that the ministers can only be
appointed on a one-per-state basis in accordance with the
provisions of the constitution.
It was also gathered that the ‘Ambassadorial List’ will also
emerge according to the states of the federation, with
sources noting that no state can be shortchanged in the
appointments of Ambassadors and Ministers.
“When the government says it will balance future
appointments, you have to take that with a pinch of salt.
There is virtually no way the appointments can be balanced
anymore.
“The North already has 20 positions more than the South.
Are you saying you will stop appointing Northerners? The
positions that remain now have to do with the constitution.
You must pick Career Ambassadors from states of the
federation in equal numbers, because that is also the way
they were recruited into the service. You can’t deny some
states Ambassadors because you are looking for balance.
The promise is simply a political statement,” a source in the
know said.
Meanwhile, sources have told the Sunday Tribune that
former President Goodluck Jonathan was seen as having
offended the North in two critical areas, one of which was
his decision to move the Ministry of Agriculture from the
North.
It was also said that the former president’s other offence
was his decision to cancel the 2010 oil bid round planned by
the power cabal under the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
While Yar’Adua was already indisposed, the cabal that ran
power in his absence had scheduled oil bid round for March
2010, a situation said to have been planned to ensure top
Northerners take control of more oil wells. But on
assumption of office on February 9, 2010, following the
invocation of the Doctrine of Necessity, Jonathan cancelled
the planned oil bid round, a development seen as having
denied a number of Northerners oil wells.
The government had then placed most of the oil wells under
management contractors.

PoliticsWike’s 100 Days : Living the ‘Talk na Do’ Philosophy by Monimatic(op):
Without doubt, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom
Ezenwo Wike is the most outstanding governor of
the first one hundred days of this era. The facts
speak for themselves.
His predecessor, the embattled APC National
Sponsor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi messed Rivers State up
so terribly that he bragged at a public function few
days to the expiration of his ill-fated administration
that Wike would fail to deliver.
Hear Amaechi celebrating the trap he set for Governor
Wike during a thanksgiving service held by the Greater
Together Campaign Organisation (GTCO), the campaign
outfit of the Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC)
governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside. : ” I
think Nyesom Wike is coming, we are waiting. He will
look for money for salary; there is none. But when he
pays out salary, we will see if any of them can do what
we did in this state: whether they can build the schools,
the roads, even to get a loan”.
It was under this precarious situation planned and
executed against the Rivers people that Governor
Nyesom Ezenwo Wike took up the reins of leadership.
It was a very gloomy period. The courts were closed,
the State Assembly crippled, the state bureaucracy in
coma, the roads were death traps and insecurity was
at the worst imaginable level. Civil servants were owed
for two months, pensioners owed for six months and
the entire Port Harcourt City was a huge dump site
because Amaechi owed refuse clearing service
providers several months of unpaid fees running into
billions.
Worse still, the former Governor did not hand over any
documents, refusing to set up a transition committee
to interface with the then incoming administration.
Instead, Rotimi Amaechi turned a drummer boy at
the Eagle Square, Abuja on May 29.
As an apostle of the “Talk na Do” political philosophy,
Governor Wike refused to be cowed by the political
booby traps set for him. He was overwhelmingly
elected because they people believed in his capacity
to surmount the obstacles of treachery and wanton
theft of state resources as exemplified by the
immediate past Amaechi administration. All through
the campaign trail, the song was the same in all
languages – “Wike na talk na do.”
The governor himself amplified it at every spot- both
at the riverine and upland communities. “My word is
my bond. What I say I will do, I will do”.
With 100days of his exemplary administration, the
people have realised that they were right to have
chosen the “talk na do”, political philosophy over the
politics of treachery and corruption.
On his very first day in office, Governor Wike revived
the Judiciary, initiated operation zero potholes and
kick-started the process of rebuilding the state civil
service. On June 1, he swore in the State Acting Chief
Judge and the State Acting President of the
Customary Court of Appeal. It was also on June 1
that he proclaimed the State House of Assembly at
the Assembly Complex. Governor Wike has instituted
constitutional separation of powers in the state with
all arms of government functioning optimally. Indeed,
former Governor Amaechi had to use the State High
Court recently, even though he shut it down for one
year. The Rivers State House of Assembly is now
one of the most active in the country, passing critical
bills and doing legislative business at its complex.
Today, Rivers State is now a huge construction site.
The economy had been kick-started and the State is
working again.
Two construction giants, Julius Berger and CCECC
are handling the reconstruction and rehabilitation of
Port Harcourt roads which spans two local
government areas with a great percentage of the
state’s population and economic infrastructure. The
success recorded so far is mind boggling. This is
because, Amaechi had hinged his non performance
on the constant rains in Port Harcourt. Now, Wike has
redefined project execution in Rivers State. Even
under the rains, the roads are springing to life. Areas
such as Diobu, Borokiri, Iwofe road, GRA, Akpajo,
Eliopranwo, Tombia extension, Eagle Island and other
key communities in the state capital.
Several other construction companies are working on
roads in different parts of the state to open up the
state to the rest of the country.
Governor Wike initiated critical intervention into the
reconstruction of the Eleme Junction to Onne
Junction of the East West road leading to the Onne
sea port. The once deplorable road is now motorable
and work is still ongoing. He has done same for the
Industry/NPA road to the Port in Port Harcourt City.
These interventions to rehabilitate two key Federal
roads are in line with his promise to make the ports
functional for the economic revival of Rivers State.
The Abonnema -Obonoma link road in Akuku-Toru
LGA has been completed while work on Andoni-
Opobo Unity road and well as the Trans-Kalabari road
is billed to commence shortly.
Through the Greater Port Harcourt Development
Authority, he has started the construction of a facility
to move auto-mechanics and spare parts dealers out
of the city centre to further beautify Port Harcourt.
Within his first 100days, Governor Wike strengthened
the security architecture of the state. He intervened
in the equipping of the police and other security
agencies, supplying 64 security vans with high class
communication gadgets to track down criminals.
Beyond the donation of the vehicles, Governor Wike
initiated a compensation scheme where families of
security agents who die in active service fighting
criminals will receive N5million while residents who
supply credible information that will lead to the arrest
of kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists will get
N1million. The governor sent the state anti-kidnapping
bill to the State Assembly, which has been been
passed and assented to by him.
In the housing sector, Governor Wike has completed
the Iriebe Housing Estate of 50 units of two and three
bedroom flats. He will replicate this model across the
state.
For the first time in many years, Rivers State hosted
an international football match. It hosted the U23
match Olympic Qualifier Match between Nigeria and
Congo. It has been given the hosting rights of three
Super Eagles matches beginning with the match
against Tanzania. He has cleared the backlog of
salaries of Sharks and Dolphin Football Clubs
players.
Within this period, he has commenced the process of
rehabilitating prominent schools across the state. To
begin with, he has completed the hitherto abandoned
state of the art Law Faculty Building at the Rivers
State University of Science and Technology.
The health sector is to receive a revival pill. The
governor has established the framework for the
equipping of major general and Zonal hospitals in the
state.
Regarding economic development, Governor Wike
took the most ambitious step. He started the process
to end multiple taxation by involving all stakeholders
across the state.
He has in the first 100days opened functional lines of
engagement with the diplomatic community, local and
international business concerns. He has renewed
partnerships with Shell, NLNG, NPA, Indorama,
INTELS, NNPC, just to name a few. The governor has
already attracted a Visa Centre of the South African
Government and is working out international
programmes with the British, the Irish, the Chinese
and the US.
Rivers State in 100 Days has become a hub of
development and collaboration. Institutions,
companies and entrepreneurs are now coming to the
state to benefit from expanding business
opportunities. The multiplier effect would be increased
jobs, economic growth and social stability.
Governor Wike has in line with his promise to the
people effectively has commenced the creation of a
New Rivers State. He has given them back their voice
and ensured that their resources work for them.
Even his few opponents who are presently on self
exile at Abuja have commended him on his
programmed revival of decayed infrastructure across
the state.
Wike is a political phenomenon. His ‘Talk na Do ‘
brand of politics is hinged on the people and the vision
to improve their living standard. It is anchored on
protecting them from external resource predators
and ensuring that their God-given resources are
judiciously deployed for all round development. It is
about giving Rivers State a pride of place in the
comity of states. So far, so great.

Simeon Nwakaudu,
Special Assistant (Media )to the Rivers State Governor.

PoliticsAftermath Of Bhuari's Appointment, Amaechi Jets Out To London In Anger by Monimatic(op): 3:02pm On Aug 28, 2015
Buhari’s appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and other principal positions on Thursday have continued to receive backlash across the country, even within his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC. One of the victims, Rotimi Amaechi, has left the shores of Nigeria in anger , for United Kingdom because of what one of his close allies tagged ” utter shock with Buhari’s last night’s appointments” Amaechi was perceived as the cash cow and the arrowhead of the assault against former president, and kinsmen, Goodluck Jonathan. One of the key factor that nailed Amaechi was a damning preliminary report of his stewardship forwarded to Buhari by Governor Nyesom Wike. Wike had constituted a seven man Judicial Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice George Omereji to investigate alleged sale of some state assets as well as the projects for which funds were allegedly released but not executed . Former deputy Governor, Ted Ikuru alleged that his former boss allegedly spent N812 million to furnish his private residence, adding that the former government also spent N4.96 billion on the proposed Justice Adolphus Karibi Whyte Hospital with no structures on the ground. Wike had among others, asked the Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale of Omoku 150 MW Gas Turbine , Adam 360 MW Gas Turbine, Trans-Amadi 136 MW Gas Turbine as well as the Eleme 75 MW Gas Turbine. – He also said “I am confident that President Buhari will support my administration in the quest to tackle the massive corruption that characterized the Amaechi administration” It was gathered that even though Amaechi was being considered, forces within both parties averse to his appointments had lobbied some folks around Buhari to insist the President gets a preliminary report on the tenure of Amaechi. Said the source ” Wike we all know had told the world everything Amaechi did would be checked out, but there were other forces who ensured Buhari took a look at the prelim report sent by Wike on the alleged large scale fraud by his administration. The problem Buhari had was, he was careful about Amaechi because he did not want his SGF to be indicted for large scale fraud, because some of the evidence against Amaechi were damning.” The appointments continue to elicit outrage against the backdrop of the lopsidedness of the picks. Even though those with him insist Buhari has made sterling appointments, with consideration to competence and experience, this group has not been able to defend the appoint of a retired army colonel, Hameed Ali and Comptroller General of Customs. Amaechi was head of the fund raising committee for his party, helped raised tons of cash, and almost emptied his state treasury for the emergence of Buhari. First, the speculation was Amaechi could be picked to be the Vice Presidential candidate, then Yemi Osinbajo came. Next, he was promised either Secretary to Government or Chief of Staff. Amaechi was two weeks ago screened by the Department of Security Services (DSS) for the position of SGF. Shortly after the screening, a dinner was organized in his honor in port Harcourt. It was gathered that despite pleas from his men and some close to Buhari that he would be given a ministerial appointment, Amaechi insisted he would not accept anything less than SGF after being governor twice. Said the source ” It was a big shock to him. This is a man who almost laid down his life, fought Jonathan his kinsmen to the end, spent billions of his own money and state money to ensure Buhari emerged, and is treated this way? Who is the new SGF, where was he when we were working hard for Buhari” According to another close ally ” He has left Nigeria, he was so upset, i think to just cool off and think of what to do next because in Rivers Wike has shut him out, and there is nothing much in Abuja”

Ali Ndume, majority leader of the senate, on Thursday
revealed that he started the impeachment move against Ike
Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, in the seventh
senate. But urged his colleagues that “whispers” about
leadership crisis in the eighth senate should be buried.
Citing order 18, which has to do with privileges of members,
over a newspaper publication that said “22 APC are working

convinced senators to append their signatures to
Ekweremadu’s planned impeachment, but shelved the plan
after the issues that precipitated the move were resolved.
He, therefore, called on all members of the senate to accept
the emergence of the presiding officers as an act of God.
“Everyone of us here is qualified to be the senate president.
Bukola Saraki happens to be our senate president, but I still
want to be senate president,” Ndume said.
“As for the deputy senate president [Ekweremadu], I
contested against him on June 9, but God knows he became
the deputy senate. It is God that gives power to who he
likes.
“Let me say for the records, I was the only person in the
seventh senate that attempted to impeach him. I collected
signatures in order to impeach him.”
While he spoke, Remi Tinubu, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wife,
shouted at him, interrupting the flow of his speech. But he
ignored her and continued, urging the senators not to bring
the leadership into disrepute.
Bukola Saraki, senate president, referred Ndume’s prayer
over the breaching of his privileges by the publication in the
newspaper to the committee on ethics and privileges.
Ndume was favourite of the APC to become deputy senate
president, but he lost to Ekweremadu, whose emergence
had been anticipated as PDP’s reward for helping to
enthrone Bukola Saraki as senate president, against the
wish of the APC leadership.
Ndume polled 20 votes to Ekweremadu’s 54, but he
conceded the election long before the official
announcements of votes polled, by giving his opponent a big
hug.
Ekweremadu has been deputy president of the senate since
2007.

What is even wrong with Tinubu's wife, Remi Tinubu always misbehaving on national TV, see the way she was shouting n barking on Senator Ndume when he was speaking, the woman doesn't have decorum in her dictionary. I just like the way Ndume ignored her.... ndume knows she must be suffering from too much consumption of the same type of Oshogbo weed that Aregbsehola n her husband Tinubu smokes.
