hey guys kinda need some advise. i ve been going thru this thread for days now (parts 1 to 4) and also some other research, but just decide to ask a straight question, if anyone has got an answer. i will soon be thru wit my masters in Germany ( just remaining my thesis) and am thinking of migrating to Canada to study a one year PGD in social work cuz i don't want to study for another two years masters course. so my question is will i be able to register and work as a social worker after graduation? and what is the best province to do so? i also hear u are give one year work permit for PGD courses. i don't mind, but i just want to know where will be easier to get a social worker job. thanks

surecan: Thanks,i want to ask especially how easy to get job in Germany as a student, and again if i send my wife for master program, can i join her later may be in six months time.
getting a job in germany depends on where u live, big city or small city, east germany or west germany and also ur ability to speak d language. in west germany, that is the south nd parts of d west, its easier bcuz they speak english more than in east germany. its called east nd west bcuz of the berlin wall dat separated the country. as 4 ur wife inviting u, i vent seen any1 who is a student aftr 6 months, inviting anoda family member, xcept u r also goin there 4 ur masters.

Demaejy: Thanks for your swift and candid response!
yes he answered it quite correctly. bt if u ve some1 sponsoring u, he doesn't ve to be in thesame state as ur school, just Germany in general. bt they r goin 2 drill u abt ur relationship wit d person, so prepare well.

Demaejy: I hurge you explore the school website, what you stated seems to me as illusion because if your course is completely taught in English, there is no way you will be required to prove that you are exactly proficient in German rather you will be required to prove you are proficient in English.
yes, he shld chck again. cuz a course taught TOTALLY in english only needs ur transcript or certified bachelors certificate with a cover letter stating that the course was taught in english. d only way they would ask 4 german proficiency is if some parts if the course is taught in german, so he shld write to ask them properly

Demaejy: Guy,it was the school you recommended sometimes back you later put in for. They charge exorbitantly, imaging paying €700 per month.

@Jejet
You are welcome again to the thread, hope you can put more light to the thread for we prospective applicant. Thanks
700 euro 4 wat? r u sure its nt ur living xpenses they told u? no school charges per month. its once a semestr, which is abt 5 months. so get ur facts right. u can write to dem to clearify. i only spend abt 400 euro a month, including acc, insurance nd feeding, thou i live in a small town close to berlin. so chck ur facts

justwise: I don't know one myself but i will not advice you to use just anyone, search for big name health insurance companies in Nigeria, walk into their office and get one.
go AIICO insurance. its not far 4rm the embassy in VI, 3 months travel insurance is about 23k. chck online i ve 4goten their address or tke a bike frm CMS. its about 500 naira(since bikes are nt allowed to work) and 350 frm the embassy
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by monique2002(f): 9:46am On Nov 21, 2012
Demaejy: When you get admission they will help you open blocked account at German embassy with the provision of your admission letter and int'l passport,so you don't have to open it with ur name.
guy, u r using ur international passport and also ur real name to open the acc. u will fill d form urself, before submitting it at the embassy. and u can NEVER use ur personal acc as a means of financial aid. u HAVE TO open the acc. dont let any1 tell u otherwise. they were proberly doin it lyk dat b4, bt now, u need ur blocked acc. visa processing tkes time, so immediately u receive ur admission letter, go to deutsche bank website and download the application form, then go to embassy immediately. for such case, they only see u at 8am-10am mon to fri.

Demaejy: Congrat Bro wish you the best in your career.
Pls, when did u apply 4 d admission and it takes 4 hw long before issuing admission letter to you? Then hw many mnths u used to process ur visa?

Thankx
Thanx. Nd am a sis. i applied late july 15th nd received my 1st admission letter on August 13th. Normal visa processing tkes minimum of 2 mnths. So its advised to apply to d university on time. i started by openin my blocked acc on the 1st of September nd i was told to to come 4 my visa on the 31 of October. All these was achieved by my school getting ïn touch with the embassy and also writing the aliens office ïn Germany to process my application ïn a day. Tke note that not all schools get involved ïn the visa processing( eg the 2nd school i got admission, Cottbus)

Did you write english test like Toefl before you were given admission?
.
No. i didn't write any test. Am going for a masters program and its taught ïn English. i just received a mail to come for my visa.

jejet: Just came across this post. Germany student visa is not complicated, just as simple as ABC as I got my study visa in June this year. So only those who have gone through the process should contribute and not complicate issue for potential applicant.
I applied to 4 universities via Uni Assist and I have so far recieved admission offer from 3 of them. Immediately I revieved the first admission letter from one of the universities I began my visa processing to save my time even though I don't intend to attend that university. I got the admission offer from the one I intend to attend yesterday though both are in the same federal state so I wont have complication with my paper works; cos the visa carries the name of the school with which I used to apply. I contacted the embassy via telephone immediately about this and the man at the visa section assured me that I wont have problem with the foreigners office in Germany.
Immediately I got the letter of offer from the university, i went to the German consulate in Lagos to open the student block account. The lady at the reception gave me the deutsche bank form and i submitted it with a photocopy of my admission letter and the biodata page of my international passport. I got my account details from the deutsche bank after 3 weeks. I transferred the required amount to the account and I got a confirmation of payment from the bank after 5 days. I sent the payment confirmation, passport biodata page, and photocopy of admission letter along with the request for appointment form to the consulate general via dhl. I got a response 3 days later for my appointment in 3 weeks.
On the appointment day, it was a lovely experience. Got to the consulate at 6:25am and those with student visa and family reunion were ushered in first. We went straight to the visa section and were called in one after the other. There are 4 rooms in the visa section and i was called to room 2 where a young Nigeria guy collected my document and entered my details to his computer and asked me to go sit down at the reception. After 25 minutes at the reception, a german guy came and invited me first to his office cause we are only 2 applying for student visa. The man ushered me to his office inside the consulate where he made me feel comfortable, he switched on his computer and the interview began. He read every question from the computer and he entered all my answers into the system. After the interview he stamped a page on my passport; the stamp contained the date of appointment and the visa type. He told me my application has been forwarded to the foreigners office for approval and he usherd me back the reception and l left to my home.
22 days after the interview, I got an email from the consulate to come to the consulate with a 90 days travel insurrance. I printed the email, did travel insurrance for 23k from AIICO and went to the embassy. I submitted my passport along with the travel insurance at the visa section and the lady wrote "collection at 2pm on my slip. She gave it to me and asked me to come for collection at 2pm. About 70 of us came for the collection and we were called one after the other. I got mine and the lady said your visa is approved and you will submit your passport to the foreigners office in germany after you enroll in your university to extend your visa from 90 days to 2 years. Thats my story. i wish other applicant good luck

@ jejet. Which of the admission letters did u finally use to get ur visa? Am ving thesame problem. I applied to 2 universities in thesame Federal State, Eberswalde and Cottbus. Eberswalde sent my admission letter 1st and i started my apllication with it. The school resumed on the 24th of September and i was given until Nov 2 to resume. I just got my visa appointment and its on the 18th of Oct. The timing is too close and am nt sure i can make the deadline. Meanwhile the other school, Cottbus is resumin later in October. I want to know if it is possible for me to change my admission letter during the appointment or use the visa the that will be given to me and attend Cottbus? I really need a reply cuz am confused.
