Politics / Re: Breaking: Confusion In PDP Over Onoghen's Conviction by monkautos(m): 2:31pm On Apr 18, 2019
9jatriot:
Report has it that the PDP are unsure on how best to respond to the conviction of the former CJN after he was found guilty by the CCT and barred from public office for 10 years.
They are caught between admitting that they were wrong with the suspension of the CJN by the administration of President Buhari after they kicked against and supporting the outcome of the trial. It is a dicey situation for them because on one hand they can be accused of supporting corruption as they have become known for or of playing to the gallery in the light of new unfolding events.

It remains to be seen how they intend to respond in the coming days.
Oga every sane mind knew where this case was heading to it was all already premeditated so no person is surprise..
Appeal court and Supreme Court would pronounce a fairer judgement..until then abeg

Politics / Breaking: Another Setback For APC As Appeal Court Declines Enforcement Order by monkautos(m): 6:16pm On Feb 13, 2019
The Appeal Court sitting in Sokoto has dismissed the appeal filed by Aminu Sani Jaji challenging the judgement of the lower court which upheld the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state.

Also affected by the ruling was the earlier motion filed by APC, seeking the enforcement of the earlier judgement as the panel did not make any order in respect to the motion.

The dismissal followed the motion of withdrawal of appeal filed by the counsels to the appellant, Ishayaka Dikko (SAN).

He cited order 11 rule 4 of the Court of Appeal 2016 which gives the appellant unilateral right to withdraw his case at any given time.

Objecting the motion, Counsel to Zamfara APC, Mahmud Magaji (SAN) argued that the withdrawal was not in compliance with the rule of the court, considering the provision of Order 11 Rule 4 which stipulated that counsel in an appeal must consent to withdrawal of the appeal by the appellant.

However, the panel after hearing both arguments dismissed the appeal.

The presiding Judge, Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey averred that the appellant has the right to withdraw his case at anytime considering that no issue has been joined yet.

On the basis on that, the panel dismissed the appeal including the motion earlier filed by the Zamfara APC, seeking the enforcement of the judgement of the Zamfara High Court which upheld the primaries of the party in the state.

Reacting to the ruling, Counsel to APC, Magaji (SAN), said they have no doubt about the position of the court.

On whether they would take the matter to the apex court, he said that would be the decision of his client.

Similarly, counsel to 43 to 182 respondents, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), commended the court for dismissing the case, saying as it is now APC has no candidates in the forthcoming elections.

He also commended INEC which in compliance with the judgement of the Abuja high court refused to recognise the purported primaries of APC in the state, saying it was an indication that the electoral body was truly independent of any external interference.

However, Senator Kabiru Marafa and Jaji have all hailed the ruling, describing it as a victory to democracy.

According to our constitution, in order to contest for president, you must be born in Nigeria. When Atiku was born, he was not a nigerian then until 1961 when his region finished a referendum and became part of Nigeria. The cable confirmed this today that Kanu was right afterall.

Atiku should be prepared because he was not a Nigeria by birth but by secession

Politics / Wikileaks Reveals Shocking Revelations About Buhari by monkautos(m): 11:55am On Jan 30, 2019
Stumbled over this piece written about 4 years ago

The information is provided by the Public Library of United States Diplomacy through Wikileaks. The exposed classified letter is dated September 20, 2002. It reads in part:

Like President Obasanjo before the 1999 election, General Buhari's political experience is limited to that of military Head of State. Buhari came to power as a result of a 1983 New Year's Eve coup against the democratically elected Shehu Shagari. The eviction of Shagari came as a welcome relief as did Buhari's promise to root out corruption. That relief, however, was short-lived as Nigerians watched despairingly as the Buhari regime's promises to revive the economy and wipe out rampant corruption withered during 20 months of heavy-handed, largely ineffective rule.

In May 1984, Buhari ordered the brutal expulsion of 700,000 illegal immigrants from neighboring African states, jailed hundreds of political opponents and muzzled a once aggressive press. His loyalty to the military also came into question as he dismissed 30,000 soldiers as a cost-cutting measure. Buhari also soured Nigeria's relations with Britain, when he was accused of masterminding a clumsy and unsuccessful attempt in July 1984 to kidnap President Shagari's brother-in-law, former Transport Minister Umaru Dikko. Moreover, Buhari undermined traditional rulers throughout Nigeria, slashing their benefits and questioning their authority.

Politics / Implication Of CJN Suspension by monkautos(m): 9:54am On Jan 26, 2019
It seems people don't understand the weight of what Buhari just did..

It mean senate president can wake up one day and suspend the president without seeking for two third majority.

It means Buhari can as well suspend the senate president without seeking for two third of the senate.

For salami. NJC presided by salami recommended his removal.

People should stop supporting political parties as if it is arsenal or Chelsea. The things we do in politics affects our future.

Politics / Re: Why I Shunned Presidential Debate — Buhari by monkautos(m): 11:39am On Jan 20, 2019
slyng:
I have been silent about political discussions for close to a week now. I lost hope in it all for a reason I will write about tomorrow. I had wanted to shun political write-ups till after General elections. I was tempted to come back to it two days ago when Atiku's American visit trended. I struggled to remain silent. But when I read that PMB shunned the Presidential debate I was extremely happy and excited. It proves beyond doubt that PMB has really learnt a good lesson from his previous appearances in presidential debates. It will also increase the wailing factors of the PDP. They need to be paid back in their own coins.

Since return of democracy in 1999, the PDP has boycotted SIX presidential debates despite PMB and other aspirants honouring it. I wanted to sit back and laugh at PDP supporters wailing, lamenting bitterly and gnashing their teeth in 'sifia pains' over Buhari's absence because they desperately need his presence to dignify their candidate on the podium of discussion, just the way He needed their candidates in past debates and they ensured they deprived him of it. God bless those who advised Buhari to make the PDP have a taste of the bitterness of their own pill!

Buhari has participated in presidential debates for THREE consecutive election seasons.

PDP has NEVER participated in any presidential elections before. Who is afraid of debates?

Buhari lost elections despite participating in debates THREE times. Debate doesn't determine voting outcome in Nigeria of today and that is why the PDP has NEVER participated in any and still won elections. That's why Buhari won when He stopped participating in it.

Buhari has used his participation in three debates to discover Nigerian electorates are not moved by debates, they are moved by Popularity of the candidates among them. Buhari has therefore worked on his popularity and again coasting home to victory next month.

Let the PDP also do debates for three political seasons to discover what moves Nigerian electorates. Unfortunately, they have lost it this year. They need the next 16 years to get opportunity for another three debates since they have failed to learn from Buhari's experience. In other words, PMB is 16 years ahead of them in the knowledge of the political reality of Nigeria today.

PDP candidate gave a rather ridiculous excuse for not participating. He said it is not 'Candidacy debate', it's 'Presidential debate' and therefore He won't debate without the President being there! Lol... He should be told the implied meaning of Presidential debate is 'Presidential Candidates debate'. What happens in situation where the incumbent is not contesting and all candidates are fresh? Does that change the name from Presidential debate to another thing? Lol...

In those three occasions where Buhari participated and the PDP failed to show up, the organisers never changed it to 'Candidacy debates' because they weren't grammatically disoriented! The PDP also failed to realise that Presidential debate is meant for candidates to sell their programmes to their audience and not to the incumbent president lol...

This is the first time in Nigeria's Political history that PDP could have participated in a presidential debate, yet they gave such a frivolous excuse that Buhari didn't come. What about those three occasions He came while you still absconded despite being in power?

Atiku needs the presidential debate far more than Buhari now. Buhari doesn't need it to win. Atiku needs it more except the PDP is afraid of Oby Ezekwezili that has been looking for a close avenue to strip them of the remnants of their past glory.

To Atikulooters who might want to say PMB is running away from debate, first tell us why your party has never honoured any debate in the past and only desperate to debate only PMB now. Look at the scorecard below:

Buhari in debate = 3/5
PDP in debate = 0/6

We then ask, Who is afraid of debates? #copied
Oga from what you said PDP attended the 2015 debate so why did you make it 0/6
