could you please rephrase your question.... if you're asking about how i went about it, i had a windows 8.1 pro cd that came with my cousins laptop, all i did was used it and a key from site then i spent the entire night ( 6pm to 5:30am) upgrading it via media creation tool to windows 10 pro

i upgraded my genuine windows 8.1 to Windows 10 home, I wanted to go pro so I used a key to change it to windows 10 pro. when I use slmgr/xpr command it shows me that my license expires 2016. is there a way I can make it become permanently activated so it shows my machine is permanently activated?

Short and direct answer, If you really really want permanent activation for PRO, you would need to have had windows 8.1 pro activated

then you upgrade to windows 10 pro... With your current situation, you have two options, buy a windows 10 pro key orrrrrrr wipe your system

drive, and install windows 8.1 pro or windows 7 pro (which ever you can get your hands on), then activate using KMS. Then upgrade to windows

10 PRO and then be activated for life.... These are your options. let me know if you have any other questions..

There is no way in heaven he is activated permanently.... You cannot and i repeat, cannot activate the enterprise version permanently...

He is probably using KMSpico to activate. which has to be done every 60 days i think... SO less you can deal with that, my advise is to

downgrade.

Unless you have a volume licensing agreement with MS and that can only be gotten if the company you work for has such an agreement.

It has always been like that right from windows xp.

I suspect that since you installed the retail version of windows 7 from computer village and you have an OEM key, then, your KEY got flagged

down by MS and thats why you cant activate...

So heres what you do, if you were to go legit which is what i usually advise, its will take time.... So because the end game is to upgrade to

windows 10 and be activate, we are going to take a short cut...

Once you download it, run the program as admin and follow the instructions...

If everything goes well, you should be activated... I will stop here... Let me know how that goes... then we can continue.

First things first, why would you want to install the enterprise version when you arent a volume license holder?

Well you can use a KMS server to activate for 60 days for 3months... after that, you are screwed.

Uninstall that sheiiit and install the PRO version fir christ sake.

Formatting is only necessary when you want to start afresh. as in No previous installation of windows 7 or 8, just straight to windows 10 fresh install...

if you dont want to lose your data and you couldnt be arsed to back up, then just UPDATE- meaning, a previous installation of windows 7 or 8

has to be present for an update to work...

Usually, i am someone who likes to start afresh when it comes to OS upgrades....This way, i avoid any hidden viruses, issues or garbage that the

previous OS has and not carry it over to the new OS...


Here is the deal... Once you are able to activate windows 10, then you are activated for life. So you go ahead and back up your data,

format your system and install a fresh copy of windows 10. As long as it is the same computer you activated windows 10 on previously,

then you have nothing to worry about. Once you connect to the internet, you will be activated... Best believe, tested!!!


But be careful, if you change any inbuilt hardware like ermmmm maybe the hard drive or smt, you might lose your activation...
