walcolm: i agree with you that the networks here don't do product testing but you have to also understand that testing cost money and if a business is not compelled to improve customer experience especially if that initiative will cost them money, they won't do it....so it might be easy to point the finger at the networks but the underlying problem is the REGULATORS aka Govt

in developed economies, the govt stipulates minimum standards and competition pushes the customer satisfaction envelope making it mandatory for networks to ensure their customer's user experience is a good as possible otherwise they will face massive litigations, class action lawsuits and govt penalties.

Nigeria on the other hand is a jungle and anything goes
Just too bad

sun_temi: Country dependent? Never noticed that.

Daht_DopeBoi, between 40 and 55k.
Yes Sun temi.

Not every ITunes store has the no payment option. To the best of my knowledge, the US and UK has the no payment option.
PhonesRe: iPhone Killer Apps 2 by moonraker(m): 2:11am On Sep 10, 2013
tumababa: next time when u want to open a free account on appstore, go to d App Store itself and try to download a free app like Facebook, u will see d create new acct pop up, thats wen u get no payment option. not from settings.
Erm and between, that doesn't always work. if even you try opening an account on the US store in Nigeria without VPN, it will not work.

the no payment option is country dependent.
PhonesRe: iPhone Killer Apps 2 by moonraker(m): 2:08am On Sep 10, 2013
tumababa: yes u are charged. u should av opted for no payment
Wrong.

Let him ask his friend again. if his 165 naira was returned or not.

When you input your payment details, Apple does a dummy charge on the card

to check whether or not the card is valid or not. Apple will return the cash back

within a week.

walcolm: hi deevah,

the problem is a two-pronged problem...on the one hand, the BB10 OS is a completely new OS, it has some teething problems and on the other, the Nigerian telephony system is a bit unorganized as opposed to what you have in developed countries

what then happens is this, when you save a number with this format +234-8XX-XXXXXXX, any text message you receive will show the name of the contact but when you receive a call from that contact, the name does not show.....but when you save your contact with the local format 080XXXXXXXX, when you get a call, the name shows but when you receive a text, the name does not show

more matured mobile OS platforms have been able to resolve that problem and i expect t will be resolved soon on the BB10 OS
SOrry whats your definition of more mature OS. Cos last time i checked, IOS and some android phones still have that problem. I dont have a
blackberry, neither do i use one but i can relate to that problem. my guess is, first things first, those devices or Oses in question havent been
configured for the nigerian market and by configured, i mean properly tested on the networks before use.

In developed countries such as the US, UK or Japan, before any smartphone is offer by a Service provider, torture test etc has to be carried out. these operators just dont carry out these tests for carrying out sake, they have to check network compatibility etc.

In Japan, there are three main operators here. AU by KDDI, Softbank and Docomo. Two of those providers presently offer the iphone while docomo doesnt. This is because the 3G or LTE band to which the iphone operates doesnt support the docomo network. How did we come about this information you might ask? The same testing i have been talking about. The same testing that MTN and Co have refused to do. Until the operators put their houses in order, that problem you speak off will remain.

In other news, Whatsapp just released an update that enables you to backup your chats and chat related items like pictures etc unto icloud. smiley

On another newsworthy note, you can try the icloud beta website

https://beta.icloud.com/

this gives you access to keynote, pages and numbers. You can create documents online and save them online too.

while having access to those documents via your iphone or ipad.

PhonesRe: iPhone Killer Apps 2 by moonraker(m): 10:27pm On Jul 15, 2013
janga: then gimme gud d ryt info, so dat i cn stl go ahead & update
What Tumababa was trying to say was a developers id isnt necessary for ios 7 beta restore.

it will never ask you for that. However if you were to upgrade to ios 7 and the find my phone option of

activation lock is ticked automatically or by you, the next time you restore your iphone, you will be asked

for the apple id or to make things easier to understand, your icloud account. this, you would have to provide

to proceed to activation.

Back in the days of ios 4, 5 and 6 betas, apple required you to have a developers account to be able to install betas.

This isnt the case for now. And there is a chance that since ios7 is launching septemberish , then they would probably be

no form of protection in terms of who installs what or not. Hope this is clear enough..

CFCfan: Lol. MMA is in a different class of it's own grin
It seems the South-east Asians take their aviation business seriously, because they are dominant in both the Best airports and airlines categories.

TravelRe: Emirates Wins 2013 World's Best Airline Award! by moonraker(m): 1:46am On Jul 11, 2013
wink hmmmmm alittle surprised... Everyone on here is praising Emirates like no mans business.

Is it same Emirates airlines i flew??

I remember when they started their service (2005) from KIX to LOS with a stopover in dubai ofcourse, it was magical.

I flew in the then brand new A340-500. Seating was perfect. IFE had AVOD as standard and food was in excess.

Then came my next trip with them in 2010 i think and errrrr NO, just NO... they changed it to the 777 which has a

3-4-3 configuration in economy. it felt cramped and i am not even the tallest guy around. One thing i will give to them

though is their punctuality. they dont mess around when it comes to time.

Sadly, its just a question of time before the other middle eastern airlines pick up. I flew with Etihad airways in 2012

and i must say, for the price? i was somewhat impressed by the service. Although, i noticed that there are alot of

nigerians flying that route now. Kinda makes you wonder!!! huh
