EducationRe: Senate Set To Abolish Degree/hnd Dichotomy by morefire: 6:24pm On Oct 22, 2014
etenyong:
A Bill for an Act to abolish and prohibit dichotomy
and discrimination between University’s degrees
and the Higher National Diploma in the same
profession and field, scaled the second reading on
the floor of theSsenate on Wednesday.
The bill, sponsored by the member representing
Ondo Central Senatorial District, Ayo Akinyelure,
specifically seeks to end the ongoing controversy
over wage disparity and gross discrimination
against HND holders in the public and private
sectors.
He said, “The aftermath of continuing injustices,
disparity and discrimination meted to products of
polytechnics in Nigeria is threatening to derail the
nation’s core policy thrust of evolving a
technological and scientifically based, self-reliant
society in the nearest future.
“As I speak, thousands of would-be polytechnic and
technology students are contemplating or have
decided to opt for university education, because of
perceived and real discrimination against HND
graduates.
“If this contemplation occurs, there is bound to be
a vacuum created in our labour market in this
regard, and dire consequences are bound to follow
this trend.
“Over the years, several entreaties have been put
forth to the Federal Civil Service authorities to put a
stop to certain glaring wage disparities and
discrimination against the HND holders, and all
these have been to no avail.”
He said to make matters worse, certain federal
parastatals were known to openly discriminate
against HND holders to the extent of limiting their
progress within the hierarchy of such government
bodies.
“To all intents and purposes, a government
employment policy that places degree holders
ahead of HND holders without recourse to skill and
ability of the HND holder thereof, does more harm
than good to the nation’s development,” he added.
Akinyelure, who is also the Chairman, Senate
Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public
Petitions, further argued that empirical evidence
had shown that polytechnic graduates of
accountancy, engineering and some other
professional curses are better on the job than their
university counterparts.
Senators, who contributed to the debate, noted
that the issue of dichotomy between the two
certificates could only be addressed if the
curriculum of polytechnics was improved upon and
ensure that it was rich enough to award degrees.

PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Can’t Win In 2015″ – Dokubo Asari by morefire: 6:07pm On Oct 22, 2014
sonOfLucifer:
http://www.thestreamng.com/president-jonathan-cant-win-2015″-dokubo-asari/
One of the biggest supporters and kinsman of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, has declared that the president has lost the support of his political base, the South-south and the South-East owing to the failure of his government to deliver on its promises.

Dokubo-Asari, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said that it would be tough for Jonathan to win the presidential election in 2015 if he decides to run based on the poor showing of his administration.

He said that his decision to speak out was for him and others who are ardent supporters of Jonathan not to be blamed for his failure in 2015.

He said: “I want to start with an Ijaw proverb, which says: the eyes watched its seven children to death. Instead of advising them, it was just looking at them until they died, while the mouth talked its only child to life and success.

“We have continued as Ijaw people and the entire Niger Delta and South-South to support the presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan, but a time has come when silence cannot be golden.
“We mainly speak out in issues that are very critical to the survival of our people, the survival of the people of the South-South and the South-East, which happens to be the political base of Goodluck Jonathan.

“Jonathan is surrounded by very greedy people who are only in the Presidency to enrich themselves at the expense of Goodluck himself.

“This brings us to another Kalabari proverb, which says: where there are elders, a goat cannot be allowed to deliver tied to a stick.

“If we don’t talk and we continue to brush it aside, tomorrow we will be blamed and people will say: Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was around when Goodlcuk Jonathan was president and he didn’t talk.

“Them I will be an accomplice and accessory after the fact….

“It is alarming because the South-South must have its uninterrupted eight years tenure, which is constitutional.
“But with how things are going under Jonathan’s watch, we are afraid that we may not be able to have our eight years tenure because there will be no magic about it if it is going to be one man one vote.”

Dokubo-Asari said he will continue to speak out despite the fact that he had benefitted from Jonathan, adding that one of those causing trouble for the President remains the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godsday Orubebe.

He said: “I have benefited immensely from Goodluck Jonathan with my stake but benefit alone is not enough to make me to keep quiet when the period is very challenging for our people.

“So, some of us are tempted to ask this question: why are all these things happening?

“Why has the President allow some ministers like Godsday Orubebe to continue in government?

“Everyday people die on the East-West Road.

“If Orubebe is incompetent as he has shown himself to be, he should be removed.

“Nobody voted for Orubebe.

“And why is Orubebe so important to the President that he can’t remove him even in the face of his obvious incompetence and several allegation to corruption?

“We feel very ashamed and embarrassed.

“Orubebe was one of us.

“He was attending meetings with us, sleeping in the ground with us, entering night bus with us and we nominated him to be appointed a minister.

“We have gone to him and complained to him that we don’t like they way things are going in his ministry and told him that if the President leaves in 2015 without the completion of the East-West Road, we are finished.

“And the man keeps telling us there is no money.

“When IBB (former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida) was there, there was money.

“When Abacha was there, there was money.

“When others were there, there was money.

“How come the money disappeared when Jonathan got there?

“Jonathan and orubebe will account for the death in the East-West Road.”
On the face-off between Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo-Asari said there was no need for it.

He said that no matter what Jonathan feels, he still remains a beneficiary of Obasanjo’s large heartedness.

He said: “First, there was no need for Goodluck Jonathan to disagree with Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I don’t like Obasanjo.

“I don’t like his face.

“I hate him.

“But he was instrumental in bringing Goodluck Jonathan to power.

“And the greedy people around Jonathan have not managed him enough to the extent that the President and people around him will allow Jonathan to disagree with Obasanjo openly

“And if you check, all the people who supported Goodluck Jonathan and fought to bring him to power, have openly disagreed with him.

“What was the cause of these disagreements?

“These are the questions we want to put to the president.

“Some people say Obasanjo is manipulating Goodluck Jonathan, that is why Jonathan is disagreeing with him and we ask: what has Goodluck Jonathan’s government achieved to show that it is a departure from other governments that have existed since 1956?

“For us, nothing has changed.

“It is still business as usual.

“So what are the advice that Obasanjo gave to Jonathan that were so difficult for him to fulfill, that made him decide to fall out with Obasanjo?

“Obasanjo was instrumental and manipulated the process that illegally removed Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State and installed Jonathan as governor, made him vice president, fought for him to become acting president and also fought for him to become president of Nigeria.

“Apart from Obasanjo, there are so many people who supported Goodluck Jonathan, some have been pushed out by those who were not there to give him any support, while some others are trapped and they cannot talk.

I have a feeling that Fulani man Buhari would have done more for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta actually. It is getting more and more difficult to support him, the second niger bridge is another issue. Even his allies are denouncing him. What a shame!
lol

Pple like u believes corruption isn't stealing or a president who monitors mediocre, n groom elitism theories @ the expenses of the poor majority who liberated him from the hands of cabals thw very pple who despised him.

What happend to fuel subsidy report chaired by nuhu ribadu? What happnd to police pension involving maina?

What happnd to stella's illega $250M armor BMW purchase? What happnd to the unremited $48.9m oil funds into federal account thru the CBN? What about the $20m another oil money raised by same CBN? What happned to NIS recruitment scam upon which 23 innocent nigerian job seeker were killed? Why wasn't their monies refunded or why nobody was compensated as promised by ur clueless, I had no shoes Otueke president?

What happend to aruma oteh saga, a woman indicated for abuse of office by legislatures. A woman whose staff protested against? Where are the palliatives promised to nigerians under subsidy regime? Similarly, where're the supposed refineries the govt of Jonathan promised to built with oil subsidy removal?

The economic financial crimes commission (EFCC) has become a parasite of its own creation under Jonathan, yet our corruption index in the last 5yrs has increased bt EFCC is paralyzed to combat money laundry.

Why would Jonathan preferred to rule Nigeria by dividing her along religious/tribal lines? Coz the last time I checked, after civil war, nigerians has never bn this divide.

Jonathan don't represent nationalism, his policies are never citizens oriented except few that were smear only at scoring political points for himself n his party (PDP).

There're too many atrocities of this administration in the past 5yrs that can easily come to mind.

This administration is made up hypocrisy, inept, sycophants, mediocrity n propaganda. A govt who spent so much on media deceits, misrepresentation.

A govt that turned insurgency into a business adventure and playing politics with the lives of the citizens she has first obligatory responsibility to protect.

For those of u, who either have bn blindfolded by tribal/religious sentiments. Understand which u're first a nigerian outside the shore of Nigeria b4 u're either a yoruba, hausa or igbo and it doesn't come to mind there exist a country with such tribal bigot.

Let's called a spade a spade, in 2010 when this present president (Jonathan) was locke-up in the Turai kitchen (the then musa yar'adua's wife) it was the same nigerians that bn persecuted today under this administration with its anti-people policies.

Finally, Jonathan game is up and he needs to realize that ovation is no longer in his favor. However, earlier he understand this and withdraw his candidature the better for him as posterity will be fair enough to member him in history.

God bless Nigeria!

PoliticsRe: Ceasefire: Fg Paid N100m To Fake Boko Haram Representative by morefire: 11:14am On Oct 22, 2014
FNNEWS:
Exclusive reports reaching FNN states that ceasefire reported to have been agreed between the Radical Boko Haram sect and the Federal Government might have just been a Charade.
This is coming as reliable reports depict the representative of the Boko Haram sect was neither the leader nor a stalwart, but a floor member who wanted the personal gain of 100 million naira offered by the Government to broker the said ceasefire deal.

As at the time of this report, we were made to understand that the FG is doing everything possible to track the said Imposter, who is known by only his firstname “Ibrahim” in order to retrieve their 100 million naira, especially because the purported ceasefire had led to the relaxing of our security agencies and subsequently surprise attacks by Boko Haram and a reported kidnap of about 40 women.

We at FNN are very much concerned about this development not only because the Government of the day acted short of expectations of the public, but also because this has now brought back the gloom of the abducted Chibok school girls, whom we believed will be gaining their freedom and rejoining their families soonest as a result of the acclaimed ceasefire.

However, in a related news, the main opposition party All Progressive Congress(APC) has called on the presidency and security operatives to be focused on finding and recovering the abducted girls, instead of focusing on finding and recovering the 100million naira, which will still be used in fraudulent PDP elections campaigns.

PoliticsRe: 22 Reasons Why You Should Not Vote For Buhari In 2015 Election by morefire: 9:30am On Oct 22, 2014
Blofeld:
1. He is an oligarch who does not believe in equality before the law. The way he jailed Lateef Jakande, Jim Nwobodo, Ambrose Ali, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Ayo Ojewumi on cases that had no foundation and allowed Awwal Ibrahim, the then Niger State governor, who was arrested in Heathrow Airport in London with 14 million pounds sterling and several millions of naira and dollars to be under house arrest is one of such reasons. He also allowed Shehu Kangiwa, Sokoto State Governor who conducted and supervised the famous Bakolori Massacre of poor peasant farmers whose land were appropriated without compensation to remain under house arrest.

1(a) Ayo Ojewumi became blind as a result of his imprisonment over false charges and died shortly after.

1 (b) Prof. Ambrose Alli also became blind as a result of this false imprisonment. When he died, he had only one undeveloped plot of land to his name.

1 (c) Pa Adekunle Ajasin was never the same after his eventual release and remained sickly for the rest of his life. When he died, he never had any property anywhere in the world except the one he had built from his sweat as long term teacher and school principal in Owo township.

2. He put in place a retroactive law that killed three men, innocent men in my book, by public execution. He left untouched an alleged well known drug baron in Ibrahim Babangida who later overthrew his government.

3. He jailed Ndukar Irabor and Tunde Thompson of the Guardian on stories that were factually true under Decree 4. He had told the Nigerian journalists then that it did not matter whether the story reported was true or not, if his regime did not like it, the writer would go to jail.

4. He supervised the smuggling of 53 suitcases filled with cash through the Murtala Muhammed Airport against the protests of General Tunde Idiagbon and ironically, Abubakar Atiku, the then Director General of the Customs who later became Vice President of Nigeria and a compromised politician himself. This smuggling of the suitcases were supervised by his ADC, Col. Mustapha Jokolo.

5. He jailed Fela Anikulapo-Kuti on trumped up charges under emergency law which prompted the sentencing judge to confess that he was ordered to do so and apologised to the late musician. It was Buhari’s administration that said it has “decided to deal with this Fela problem once and for all.”

6. He convinced all the northern political leaders against allowing the National Identity Card program because according to him, this would unravel the myth of northern population majority.

7. He is an Islamic fundamentalist, the Bin Laden of Nigeria, who told his northern followers never to vote for anyone who was not a Moslem.

8. He is a coup plotter and as such has no regard whatsoever for a democratic institution.

9. He has never been able to account to Nigerians what he did with the 20 billion naira of the Petroleum Trust Fund of which he was the chairman under Sani Abacha.
9(a) He has not been able to point to any project that he prosecuted outside Northern Nigeria with the so-called trust fund.

10. He was in full support of all the atrocities of Sani Abacha against the Nigerian people. There is no single record of his criticism of Sani Abacha during those dark days when Nigeria was on the precipice. It shows that he is a patriot of convenience and as such unfit to lead the country.

11. Buhari, as part of his tribalistic practices, placed President Shagari under house arrest inside a palatia mansion in Ikoyi while he locked up Shagari’s Vice, Alex Ekwueme in Kirikiri Prison. Shagari is Hausa/Fulani like him while Alex Ekwueme is an Igbo man.

12. Ikemba Emeka Ojukwu, another Igboman who returned from 13 years exile just a little over a year then was as well locked up in Kirikiri Prison by mean-hearted Buhari.Up till today we are not told what was Emeka’s offence.

13. Busari Adelakun died of ulcer because Buhari refused him to be taken out of prison for immediate medical attention. The then Governor of Ogun State,Bisi Onabanjo suffered similar fate which we were told led to his untimely death.

14. Buhari ransacked the house of our late sage, Obafemi Awolowo and confiscated his international passport. Which civilized democratic society would elect the likes of Buhari as President, the same individual who overthrew an elected President? Never!

15. Plus Buhari having Sam Mbakwe in jail, went for one of Mbakwe’s wives. He established himself again for what he was/is letting Mbakwe receive in jailhouse news of the death of another of Mbakwe’s two wives.

16. Buhari’s henchman and sponsor, CPC governorship candidate for Kano State, is Mohammed Abacha, the same person that had/ran a personal killing squad, coordinated the killing of Kudirat Abiola & attempted to kill Alex Ibru; and also stashed money in underground tanks, all less than 13 years ago, Nigerians have very short and selective memory. Shame!

17. Buhari discriminated against persons from other ethnic groups/faiths; and that as PTF Chairman, he employed an overwhelming number of Fulani/Hausa/Moslem people at the detriment of other groups and concentrated PTF projects in the North. If in doubt read El Rufai’s testimony where he wrote about Katsina boys who used the money they made at PTF to bankroll Yar’Adua’s election in 1999.

18. Buhari is unforgiving. When he “took over” by coup in 1983, even remembered an article written a very very long time ago by Bisi Onabanjo (‘The Mallams are coming’) and a later one in which Onabanjo wrote that people should watch out for that “gangly officer from the north” after Buhari gave a no holds barred speech at some army function where he was reported to be very openly pro Fulani and pro Islam to the exclusive of all else and also talked about termination of democratic rule. For that, Onabanjo got one of the harshest jail terms and treatments.

19. Buhari’s intolerance is worse than Obasanjo’s. When he was adopted as the ANPP’s candidate on the night of the party’s Primaries without prior warning to the other candidates and a few of them protested, Buhari got up and made a speech that those people must be disciplined. I subsequently saw him on BBC’s “hard talk” and he frightened me and the interviewer with his archaic and fundamentalist intolerant views. His understanding and articulation is very much in doubt.

20. The evil genius, IBB and his crew similarly ran rings around Buhari. On the 10th anniversary of Abacha’s demise, Buhari said that Abacha stole nothing from Nigeria! Despite millions of dollars recovered from banks around the world and the Abacha family signing a formal agreement to return over $1 billion dollars, Buhari still said that Abacha’s stealing remains an unproved allegation!!!! Why? Because Abacha set Buhari up like an emperor and let him use oil money from the Niger Delta to develop the North without supervision or questions.

21. Buhari snubbed the same Nigerians he now wants their votes by refusing to appear before Justice Oputa Truth and Reconciliation Panel. Despite the fact that Buhari knew how inportant reconciliation is to the stability of democracy. Buhari has never apologised at anytime.

22. Buhari executed Lawal Ojuolape (30), Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Bartholomew Owoh (26). To put it quite plainly, one of those three – Ogedengbe – was executed for a crime that did not carry a capital punishment at the time it was committed. At the time Ogedengbe committed the crime it did not carry that punishment. If we must live as civilised citizens we must go by the rules. Article 11.2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads: “No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on account of any act or omission WHICH DID NOT CONSTITUTE A PENAL OFFENCE, under national or international law at the time when it was committed. NOR SHALL A HEAVIER PUNISHMENT BE IMPOSED THAN THE ONE THAT WAS APPLICABLE AT THE TIME THE PENAL OFFENCE WAS COMMITTED. Killing people with retroactive laws is not the civilised thing to do – and for as long as we will have people who refuse to see the truth only because their heroes are inching to rule when they have not purged themselves we will continue to wallow in misery.

If Nigerians reward dangerous, insensitive, dishonest, mean, cruel, partial, egoistic, religious, fundamendalist, conscienceless human beings like MUHAMMADU BUHARI with the presidency of Nigeria with his kind of track record, then why do we still wonder why Nigeria has not and will not make it?

I can not in good conscience support Buhari’s candidacy on the above grounds. I wish we have intelligent people who know what democracy means. I wish we have civilized minds. However, I am 100 percent sure that Buhari will never again rule Nigeria.

For the good of Nigeria, vote any other candidate, but SAY NO TO BUHARI!!!

Source: http://nigerians4change.com/2014/10/20/22-reasons-why-buhari-must-never-rule-nigeria-again/
i a sure of the decree 4 story and the Ambrose Ali story yes he did that and he even attested to the Decree 4 in an interview (he claimed that the press was free to report only the truth but shouldnt report what they were not sure off)

so they molested the media in his time and Nigerians call that Discipline but the same Nigerians want the freedom of Information Bill to be passed by GEJ

popular Mavin group as against many people’s beliefs that
Don Jazzy is the real head of the music group.

Mr Coker’s ownership of the music group was said to have
come in handy when popular singer, D’banj left the defunct
Mo’hit. Coker was said to have waded in, helping the group
financially, thereby making Don Jazzy just a ceremonial public
figure head of the group.

PaperMacheOnline reports that the beautiful female singer,
Tiwa Savage has had to contend with in recent times, Coker’s
alleged ownership of the Mavin record label and how he
allegedly imposed singer Di’Ja on the label despite Don Jazzy’s
reluctance to absorb her into the fold.

Although Tiwa has not made any official statement
concerning the marital challenges, several voices have
romantically linked Coker with Tiwa Savage, making many to
have asserted that it was her alleged romance that resulted in
the politician’s alleged ownership of Mavin Records; with Don
Jazzy said to be the official face of the brand.

It was also made known that it was in an attempt to spite
Coker that Tiwa Savage got married to Teebilz when she
noticed that the politician was also having a romantic affair
with label mate, Di’Ja.

This step of getting married to Teebilz got Coker angry
because of his love for the singer to the point that he was
bent on destroying whatever Teebliz and the singer have
together as husband and wife.

Teebliz was however said to have been suspicious of his wife’s
never ending phone calls and incessant messages with the
politician even when the beautiful singer assured her husband
that all interactions with the politician are purely official.

Mr Coker who was a Deputy Chief of Staff to ex-Lagos
Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been said not to be far
from controversies as his crashed marriage to Folake
Akindele, his business relationship with Kasham Buruji and his
appointment into the Lagos State government had always
been topic of controversies.

It would be recalled that just few weeks ago, news about the
beautiful singer having marital challenges rocked the country.

@OP, I detests post with weighty topic and bias writeup. What will it take you to broaden your facts like @morefire just did. Your strongest point is also your weakest link. undecided

No political party can reshape this country like the inner will of her citizens. The youths that are supposed to be the change agent have all been jinxed with the political momentum. They are either resonating as PDP crest, APC trough or vice versa. How long are we going to continue like this...huh

and if you dare ask them to show you what who they are supporting has done they begin to insult your unborn kids...

i really wish we the youths can come in one accord to move things...

i hear we are about 70million youths in this country

It is no longer the 15years his CPC has ruled the majority of Northern states as you claimed earlier but now the 1 state majority, the 6 senate seat, majority etc his CPC won in 2011? I know how hard it is to be a TANdroids and a Jona.daft supporter, you're so used to beating about the bush blindly.

I'm sure all the inhabitants of Aba will love to swap places with those in Keffi and Lafia in comparison to the level of decadent prevalent in both states. Next time you want to talk on National Issues I think it is better to properly research your utterances.
90% of the members of CPC came from ANPP Buhari was an active very active person there... we saw no ideology

now wait so you really think i will leave my GF on valentines day in 2015 go and queue to vote for GEJ?
