The director and producer of popular TV drama series, Village Headmaster has passed on to glory. Chief Tunde Oloyede who had been battling an age related illness since 2015 lost his battle today.

Chief Oloyede reportedly died in his sleep at his family house in Festac town yesterday morning. According to a family source, Mr Oloyede, 70, slept late in the night after taking his prescription drug sadly, he didn’t wake up in the morning when it was time for him to have his breakfast.

He was the former President of Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN) and also the producer/director of popular TV drama series, Tightrope, amongst several other productions.

Until his death, Oloyede ran his own production outfit, “Media International Production”.

May his soul rest in peace..

I keep saying no matter what the advanced world think Nigeria is and regardless of how rotten we think of ourselves, we still have lovely, truthful and conscientious Nigerians living in this country. Not everybody is covetous which we like to think is the true color of a typical Nigerian.

Someone just shared a story of how a man left his phone number behind after bashing his car in his absence and suffice to say, it happened in Lagos of all places.

The car owner shared this on Twitter;

This is polygamy taken to a different level. A 50-year-old Ugandan man, Mohammad Ssemanda has surprised locals by marrying three women at ago. Mohammad is a food vendor at Kasenyi landing site, in Wakiso district.

In a little twist, two of the women are sisters. The brides include a 48-year-old Salmat Naluwugge, with whom the man already has five kids with, plus Jameo Nakayiza, a 27-year- old and Mastulah Namwanje aged 24 who are sisters.

Ssemanda explained that his wives were all okay with his poor financial status. Being a Muslim, he is allowed to marry up to four wives and it’s no big deal. He said;

“My wives are not jealous against each other. Good enough, each has got a home and I promise to work harder and support them.”

One of the wives, Salmat Naluwugge, also spoke, saying;

“I thank our husband for marrying us all at once, a sign that he will not discriminate or sideline any of us.”

The controversy surrounding the Nigeria Bar Association and the Unilorin student who was denied a call to Nigeria Bar has been generating controversy since two days now. Even the President of Nigeria Bar Association have waded into the controversy as promised that everything will be resolved as soon as possible.

The former Aviation Minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (SAN) has blamed the student in question Amasa Firdaus, who was denied ‘call to bar’ by officials of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for failing to remove her veil, otherwise known as hijab.

Fani kayode said Firdaus was only being childish and disingenuous as Nigeria is a secular state and she cannot insist on wearing a religious garb during a secular ceremony. The former minster, while reacting via his Twitter handle said;

”The girl that insisted on wearing her hijab during her call to the Nigerian bar was being childish and disingenuous. ”You cannot insist on wearing religious garb during a secular ceremony and she is not the first Muslim to be called to the Nigerian bar. Nigeria is a secular state.”

What is really wrong with this SARS operatives? On a second look into this #EndSARS saga, I need to ask, What is wrong with Nigeria Police and Judiciary in this country? This rubbish has gone on for too long. I even find it had to blame SARS operative because Nigeria cannot just spell out what the law is.

Why are we enemies and prisoners of our own self? For God sake you can't treat somebody with disdane just because of his or her dressing. What is this? This is not a banana republic for God sake. If the law is; police cannot request to see someone's property (laptop or phone) then spell it out and prosecute the goddamn offenders so that it will serve as deterant to any other person(s) who would wish to flaunt the law in near future.

Imagine what this animals did to this young man for refusing to submit his phone. He was left bloodied and injured, on Thursday, after he was hit with a gun for refusing a phone check in Benin, Edo State. I don't recognize this country anymore. Even a ZOO is looking better than staying in Nigeria.

Narrating what happened, an eyewitness wrote:

"This happened on Thursday, between 10am and 10.46am on Giwa Amu road in GRA, Benin. These policemen wearing black T shirts (pictured), stopped a taxi driver for driving one way.

According to the driver, he said as soon has he stopped, he apologized to the officers and then he said they asked all the passengers to get out of the car and they asked one of the passengers where he works and also asked him to hand his phone over to them, but he refused.

He was then accused of being a cultist and that was why he didn't want to hand his phone over. At this point they tried to force him into another car. He again refused and he was hit with a gun, which led to massive bleeding.

Alot of us tried to know what station they were from or get a badge number or name but all to no avail. I was lucky to have taken this pix and also able to capture at least 2 of the officers while the other one tried as much as he could to avoid those who had phones with them. A good Samaritan ended up taking the guy for treatment."

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, A.B. Mahmoud, SAN, has reacted to the development where one Amasa Firdaus was prevented from being called to Bar due to the wearing of hijab.

Recall that on Tuesday 12th December, 2017, Firdaus, a graduate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) was denied entry into the hall where the ceremony held by officials of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for failing to remove her ‘hijab’ covering as directed.

Firdaus’ plight has stirred controversy online with Nigerians calling for justice in respect to constitutional right to freedom of worship.

NBA President, Mahmoud Olufunke Abimbola, in reaction said the matter would be addressed, adding that the NBA would embrace diversity. According to him, the argument about Hijab is needless.

He tweeted;


@abmtwitt, Mr Mahmoud said, “UK based Nigerian lawyer recognized for promoting diversity in the legal profession. The NBA will embrace diversity and tolerance in the Nigerian legal profession. The Hijab issue will be addressed. “The controversy here on Hijab is needless.”

The NBA President went further to share a picture of his daughter being admitted to the New York Bar while wearing a hijab.

According to him, the ‘Tithe Against Poverty’ challenge is a campaign created to end poverty in Nigeria. To participate, you must remove someone from poverty with a tithe of your income and challenge someone to do the same!

What could be the excuse or reason for this bizarre wedding ceremony or ritual or whatever one should call it. A group of young women have been filmed taking part in a bizarre mass wedding when they put on white wedding dresses and tied the knot to a tree.

Nature activists held the unusual ceremony in Peruvian capital Lima, where leaves were used instead of confetti and brides kissed the ‘groom’ on the trunk after taking their vows. They all pledged to look after the trees until they were parted by death.

The wedding was organised by Peruvian artist and activist Richard Torres, who is famed internationally for his pro-tree performances. He acted as a priest, while the brides were local actresses he had persuaded to perform for the occasion.

The women, mostly wearing white wedding dresses and carrying white bouquets of flowers, had to promise to look after the trees until parted by death. The aim of the event was to remind Peruvians of the value of trees and the need to look after them.

Mr Torres said:

“We are giving a message of peace, giving a message to make people aware of the need to take care of trees.”

Patricia Serra, one of the brides, said:

“This event is to make people aware of the need to love trees and this is a commitment that is going to be for the rest of your life, it is the same as a common wedding, making a promise. “Trees do not have a voice but we all are listening to their protests and therefore we are here.”

"He Didn't Renege On His Contract" Kiss Daniel’s Lawyer Explains His Contract With G-Worldwide Records

The tussle between Singer Kiss Daniel and his former record label, G-Worldwide is getting out of hand and Kiss Daniel‘s lawyers, L & A Legal Consultants, have released a statement saying their client did not walk out of his contract with his former record label G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd.

Recall that G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd dragged Kiss Daniel to court for “taking steps to appoint a new manager, solicit for bookings, and has continued to negotiate and enter performance agreements in respect of the songs from the album “New Era,” and “Evolution” which is set to be released soon.”

In the statement released by Kiss Daniel’s lawyers, they said he only terminated the contract as he was permitted to do under the contract. The contract was drafted by G-Worldwide, the lawyers wrote, and they inserted a termination clause in the contract, which Kiss Daniel activated.

1. Kiss Daniel did not walk out of his contract. He only terminated it as he is permitted to do under the contract. Is it now a sin for a party to exercise a right expressly conferred on him by law/contract? Is it the fault of Kiss Daniel that the contract has a termination clause that allows Kiss Daniel to terminate the contract? We should bear in mind that the contract was drafted by G-Worldwide Entertainment.

Kiss Daniel scrupulously followed the provision of the contract. It is unfortunate that people are mixing this case up with that of other artists running away from a contract they signed. No! This is different. This is a case of an Artist insisting that the contract signed by the parties must be obeyed and enforced. Kiss Daniel is firm believer in rule of law and due process. This was why it was Kiss Daniel that went to court first. People should not confuse a case of properly terminated contract with cases of ill-advised artists who angrily walked out of their contract without following the laid down procedure under their contracts. Kiss Daniel’s case is a well thought out act. It is an exercise of right granted to him by the contract between him and his label.

What do people want from Nigerian artist? If they don’t employ lawyers, people criticize them. Now that Kiss Daniel has employed one of the best I.P. law firm in Nigeria with a Professor of I.P. and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), people are still calling him names for acting in accordance with his contract! When Artist don’t obey or assert their rights under their contracts, people abused them, yet the same people are abusing Kiss Daniel for obeying and enforcing the Termination Clause provided in his contract! Na wa o. This is not a Kiss Daniel’s fight alone. This is a fight for all Nigerian artists except we are saying only artists must obey and comply with contract but record label are free to do as they wish?

A 14-year-old teenage girl identified as Joy Ezechikamnayo, was on Monday, installed as the governor of Abia State for 1-day after winning a statewide secondary school essay competition on the topic, “What I Will do if I become Governor of Abia State."

Miss Ezechikamnayo received the handover instruments from her ‘predecessor,’ Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and was ushered into the Executive Council Chambers of the GoverEnment House Umuahia with members of her cabinet.

She was later briefed by Dr. Ikpeazu on activities of government, including the ongoing statewide caterpillar revolution that Ikpeazu said had turned the entire state into a huge construction site.

‘Governor’ Chikamnayo thanked Dr. Ikpeazu for his leadership style and vowed to consolidate on the foundations already laid by Dr. Ikpeazu. She warned civil servants that her administration would not tolerate laziness. She also called on the people of the state to continue to support the government at all times.

Meanwhile, Miss Chikamnayo discharging her duties later that yesterday as she inspected the ongoing reconstruction of Aba Road in Umuahia. The teenage governor was conducted round with her team by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Mr. Nwala.
