Ikengawo: South africans are drug addicts and nigerians are oppurtunists. in the end you have nigerians selling drugs to them because they want it and we want money.
i dont care. let it be. tell me who's a drug kingpin IN nigeria? because we aren't dependant on drugs the way they are and for as little credit as we give our society we have a lot of good aspects.
nigerians selling drugs elsewhere isnt an issue for me, the money goes to nigeria in the form of remittance and is probably one of the most minor international ways to get dubious money, if nigerians sold or didn't sell drugs south africans still wouldn't like them, so might as well get paid in the process. next they'll say nigerians are causing aids there too., Any negative action by one nigerian affects every nigerian and the non chalant attitude in support of criminal activity is not deserving of anyone's mind or approval. Those boys doing those things there should be prosecuted and prosecuted hard to discourage that activity. Best scenario. Deport back to Nigeria. |

abhosts: Please read the article properly. The guy never said Nigerians were responsible for all the crimes in SA. Neither does the analysis above imply that SA's are the only ones involved in criminal activity within the country. The issue is not who is committing crime but who is being "demonized' or scape goated which gives licence to bigotry and violence perpetrated on innocents. |
For me it is not about complaining about our image. It's about fairness and critical discourse; you cannot label another country's people for the ills in your society and remain silent about the role your own people are playing in fueling the problem.
It is not just politicians, it is ordinary people as well. South Africans complain that foreigners are flooding their country and competing for resources. But is it not their government/home affairs that is giving people visas? Why haven't they pointed a single finger at their own permissive government?
There are two sides to every coin.
Because it is easier to pic on people you deem weaker than you.
On one of my many trips to SA. We came across two zimbabwean women who were literally kept as sex slaves in a township just outside johanesburg. Their captors were SA men using them as house girls and the such. The women had no choice in this matter. He slept with them on demand and they also prostituted to feed his drug addiction. One of the two women had a baby for these unscrupulous touts. the baby looked quite retched and was tested for HIV. He was positive. Meanwhile the father was no where to be found when he discovered we were around.
The next incidence was assitance we rendered some foreign reporters who were investigating child abduction and prostitution rings in the country. Most of the culprits that smuggled the girls across the border from zimbabwe and mozambic into the country were SA men and women. These girls were kept in half way houses as young as 16 hoping to enter the bigger cities in the form of waiteresses and dancer/prostitution. So far no government interventio
Some of the women used these girls as income, selling them off to the highest bidder(some white men including) in exchange for money. In all my time there out of 15 cases we investigated only one was run by a nigerian syndicate.
Now not to be bias or excuse the act but the girls we encountered amongst the Nigerians were actually better treated than their counter parts. These ones had "shakara" in their body, looked healthier, Most tested less for HIV infection and most let us know they had money stashed somewhere.
Please you people should stop fooling yourself. Nigerians are scapegoats in SA. |

adconline: If Nigerians were the problems, why did they kill Zimbabweans, Malawians, Somalis and black Africans as if they (killers) were whites? It's a culture of intolerance and racial superiority. Why was Lucky Dube killed because his killers thought he was Nigerian? Maybe there is a de facto order that black Africans are as bad as racist apartheid regime. The reason why RSA govt is showing interest in Nigeria is becuase of Nigerian market and its potentials not that it wants to talk about human relationships between these two countries. I believe that these so called relationships are very insignificant. In foreign policy, nations keep interests and men/women keep friendships 100 points!! |
TV/Movies › Re: Rsa Rejects Jennifer Hudson For Movie Role by morpheus24: 10:08pm On Dec 08, 2009 |
naliakar: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/afp-south-africa-jennifer-hudson.html South African Actors 'Want Hudson Out of Mandela Film' JOHANNESBURG (AFP) · December 7, 2009
South African actors want to stop Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson from playing Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in a new film on the ex-wife of the nation's first black president, reports said Monday.
The Creative Workers Union of South Africa said using foreign actors to tell the country's stories undermined efforts to develop the national film industry.
"It can't happen that we want to develop our own Hollywood and yet bring in imports," the union's president Mabutho Sithole said in The Citizen newspaper.
"This decision must be reversed, it must be stopped now," union secretary general Oupa Lebogo said in The Times. "If the matter doesn't come up for discussion, we will push for a moratorium to be placed on the film."
Hudson, who scooped a best supporting actress Oscar in 2007 for the musical "Dreamgirls", landed the role of Madikizela-Mandela last month.
The film will be directed by South African film-maker Darrell J. Roodt, whose films include "Cry, The Beloved Country" and "Sarafina."
The criticism comes just days before the opening of the Clint Eastwood film "Invictus", a drama about Nelson Mandela and South Africa's 1995 rugby World Cup victory which united the nation. Morgan Freeman in 'Invictus'
Morgan Freeman plays the president and Matt Damon is the rugby team captain.
Madikizela-Mandela campaigned tirelessly for her husband's release during his 27-year imprisonment in the apartheid era.
However, her image was tarnished by a series of scandals including her links to the kidnap and murder of a young activist and a 2003 conviction for fraud.
She separated from Nelson Mandela in 1992, two years after his release. They need to get over that shit. They need the big names to pull the interntional especially American audience in. Look at invictus. There were a lot of SA in that movie but who would watch it if you didn't have big names like Morgan Freeman or MAtt damon. Come on this is business, no time for sentimentality. if you want to build your industry created your own Holly wood and market to your people. if they are able to sustain the industry then you won't need to hire any outside people to come sell your product. |

I just applied for my tickets to the Ngeian games on June 12th and the 17th . I am trying to get the Japan/Cameroon game in Bloomfontein and possibley the Ghana game in Pretoria. Got's to support my African peoples.
The opening game is still available but i am not too sure yet. Very expensive.
I might not be able to make it to the Cape as it seems all the flights have been over booked and driving there from Johanesburg is like 12 hrs. Can't do that |
Sports › Re: So Black Runners Are Naturally Faster? by morpheus24: 2:47pm On Dec 08, 2009 |
sauer: There is a natural conclusion to be drawn from all this: blacks have an inbuilt superiority over whites when it comes to sprinting. Many scientists and writers have made this claim, to the fury of equal rights campaigners who fear that any acknowledgement of natural differences between the races might usher in a new wave of racism. Similar claims are familiar: blacks are inferior swimmers, yellows are better ping-pong players, and so on. But do such differences exist and what would it mean if they did? The answer cuts to the heart of our understanding of race and human diversity at the beginning of the 21st century. The word "Superior" being used in the paragraph above connotates racism. It can be substituted with the word "blacks have an inbuilt advantage, The advantage is as a result of genetics, nutrition, adaptation, biological and physiological instances. Such differences do exist and are not necessarily disadvantages on the parts of those who do not possess those traits
sauer: The prototypical argument for black athletic superiority can be found in Taboo: Why Blacks Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We Are Afraid to Talk about it by Jon Entine. Entine’s central assertion is that it is not blacks as a whole that are good at sprinting but rather a subset who can trace their origins to western African coastal states. Indeed, he makes the point that “no white, Asian or East African runner has broken 10 seconds in the 100m” (my italics). This is fact and has a very simple explanation to it.
Let us assume that these results have genetic causes. Is Entine entitled to conclude that blacks are naturally better athletes? Well, no. All he is entitled to say is that East Africans are naturally better at distance running and West Africans are naturally better at sprinting and that whites are probably somewhere in the middle at both disciplines. So why make the further claim that “blacks” are naturally better at sprinting and distance running? The fallacy may not seem obvious because we are so used to thinking that “black” and “white” refer to biologically significant groupings. So let us imagine a similar argument using the Central African Bambuti, a tribe commonly referred to as Pygmies. With an average height of 4ft we can safely assert that the Bambuti have a natural superiority when it comes to walking under low ceilings. Would it be legitimate to extrapolate from this that blacks in general have a natural advantage at walking under low ceilings? The problem for the “racial scientist” is his yearning to generalise.
Some scientists have resorted to smuggling in racial categories under an epidemiological guise. For example, blacks are said to be more predisposed to sickle cell anaemia. The truth, again, is more complex. Sickle cell anemia disproportionately affects the descendants of populations who lived in malarial zones, which means a higher risk for those whose ancestors came from certain parts of sub-Saharan Africa. But it also implies a higher risk for those who hail from areas in the southern Mediterranean. Genetic diseases are not racial per se. Many other so-called black diseases are in fact diseases of poverty with well-established environmental causes.
The reason why racial scientists are able to get away with crude and statistically dubious generalisations is because they chime with our natural inclination to regard “black” as a genetic type distinct from “white” or “yellow”. Indeed, this inclination is so powerful that it requires an effort of will to free oneself from its clutches.
But it is worth the effort. The fact is that there are probably no human races at all as the term is used in the biological sciences. The so-called races blend together so smoothly that it is unlikely that we will ever find a genetically rigorous demarcation that will allow us to categorise Homo sapiens in the way that we can some other species.
And even if better familiarity with the human genome does enable us to make such a classification, we can be sure that it will never correspond with “black”, “white” and “yellow” as we colloquially use the terms. How could it when the terms themselves are without clear boundaries — as anyone who has traced the continuum in skin pigmentation from Iceland to sub-Saharan Africa will tell you?
None of this will be of any surprise to those familiar with genetics, which tells us that most genetic variation (around 85 per cent) is to be found within groups rather than between them. In fact, almost all human genetic variation can be found within single African tribes, because of Africa’s place as the cradle of humanity. To the extent that there is genetic variation between groups, the majority is geographical rather than “racial”. Indeed, surface appearance (such as skin colour) can often be highly misleading when it comes to identifying the genetic distance between populations.
The conclusion is unavoidable: those who invoke race as an explanation of real and perceived differences between humans have an agenda that is other than scientific. Bros please tell us where you got this excerp from it is obvious you are not the one that wrote it |
