mindworx: No matter how beautiful your application is, No matter how geeky it feels, No matter how brilliant ... Once its not user-friendly .. forget it. When i say user-friendly .. am not separating mobile users from desktop users. That's where Windows 8 failed. Once users cannot easily learn it, you have just produced another application, not a product. We should know that our products are 90% consumed by non-technical people. This is jet-age. Always learn to read simple instructions after purchasing a product. You dont nid to enrol in any school nor to be a rocket-scientist to grab a simple instruction. A simple instruction written in plain english is a simple instruction! |
sniperwolf: Windows 8 is very nice, I even prefer the original Windows 8 to the updated 8.1you're very right. Windows 8.1 slows transition btw apps. |
Microsoft is taking us backward instead of forward. Windows 8 remains d best of them all. Pc users shd learn to read simple instructions stated in d operational manual. Windows 9 interface is a disappointment and too old school for my liking. I'll stick wit my windows 8.1. |

I was once in your shoes. By God's special grace, I am a lawyer in equity today. I know how you feel. I had depression more than you could think-off. Reach me asap on thefirsti@yahoo.com for counselling. |
Mr. I Too-know, I can also spot several grammatical errors in your write-up. You claim to be a lawyer, yet your english writing skills is almost below average. If your writing skills could be at that level, it is therefore doubtful IF YOU CAN WRITE USING LEGALESE. Go get a life. Sitting-down to detect "errors" in GEJ's facebook message, is an indication that you have nothing productive doing. Remember, an idle man is a potential devil's workshop. |
Cross river state govt does not spend upto 150 million naira to fund its highly sophisticated International Carnival which lasts for 32 days (dec 1 - jan 1), as it depends mainly on corporate bodies for sponsorship. This is in sharp contrast to the whooping 2.5 billion naira the govt of Akwa ibom state spends on its so-called 1 day christmas carol annually. Fellow citizens, let's pray that God should frustrate Gov. Akpabio's bid in hosting another carol jamboree with our hard-earned resources. The shameless waste of our God given wealth by the akpabio's govt is absolute madness on d part of d governor and must be stopped forthwith. |
Every body who was at 2011 christmas carol night in Akwa ibom state saw F. W. Kumuyi who was physically present at that event. Those that watched the event live on television also saw him there physically present. So what is he taking about? HOLY HYPOCRITE!!! |
Danhumprey: Thanks. I will suggest those courses to him. Please, anymore more courses that can accept that O'level result?CORRECTION: Pls forget about law. Literature-in-English is a pre-requisite for an LLB program and that person does not seem to have it. Consider other options. |
I think I can shed more light on this issue . We all know our universities are currently highly under funded. Most of those magnificent structures you see in 1st and 2nd generation universities were constructed directly by the Federal Government when they used to pay attention to our institutions . However currently VCs are given an amount which they are supposed to use in running these schools and the .VCs main aim is to ensure that his courses are accredited and remain accredited . To achieve this they try to provide the basic things required for this exercise such as ample classrooms, functional laboratory and offices. The aesthetic won't guarantee accreditation , hence it's no use starting a beautiful block that would take 10 years to complete, when you can use the sparse funds to complete a functional classroom blocks under 3 months. This why you will find so many abandoned giant structures in other schools . I am not holding brief for them, but if you analyze the situation from the way I presented you will agree the .VCs acted in the best interest of the students and not for beauty hype .
In a fruitless attempt to justifying government's failure in providing qualitative education 2d citizenry, you ended-up woefully in making any reasonable comment! |
BabaTony: I agree with you that the federal government is not funding our schools enough but what about AKSU owned by the akwa ibom state government?- akwa ibom is a rich state. Are you telling me that Akwa Ibom cannot build a world class university. A good architectural design doesn't mean the structure has to be expensive and complex - capital NO. Aesthetics is very important, those AKSU structures are similar to the primary schools being built by the state government. Big shame to whosoever approved such design. AKSU is a new university, structures in the universities should not I repeat should not be rushed or built anyhow just because you want to get accreditation. If the state or federal government do the right thing (proper labs, equipment, machines, lecturers, etc) accreditation should not be an issue. Take one faculty or department you can do and do it very well and not half measures. A good tertiary education holds the key to unlocking the potentials of our people, that why I feel very bad seeing those mediocre structures-I don't know how their labs, lecturers, equipment, etc look like but from the outside the schools don't stand out as Tertiary institutions. Next administration should get AKSU properly on its feet, I mean solid feet. We should do the right thing and stop make excuses for failing to take care of our future and that of our kids!I concur. I have nothing to add! |
imeofon inyang: ,construction work at Akwa ibom state universityThese are very poor and mundane architectural designs not befitting of any university-- let alone being upto Akwa ibom standard. Godswill Akpabio is playing politics with virtually everything! It's a pity! |

Aregbeshola? Hahahahaha ha ha ha. This is a Joke. |
The level to which Governor Godswill Akpabio has sown the seeds of discord and has fanned the embers of disunity to now turn our once peaceful and homogenous Akwa Ibom to be so divided along ethnic and tribal lines is both unprecedented and a source of worry and embarrassment to all true sons of the state. The people must ensure that the governor is held accountable for tearing us apart and destroying our political and social fabric. |
Abia State stood tall at the maiden edition of the BusinessDay Newspaper State Competitiveness and Good Governance Awards held on Wednesday in Lagos. The God’s Own State won two performance awards at the ceremony where many state governments were recognised for good governance. Recognized in two out of the 13 categories, Governor Theodore Orji was awarded the Best Governor in Health Development and also State with the Most Improved Security. Governors nominated in the Best Healthcare Development category before the joint selection of Orji and Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi were those of Ondo, Niger, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Lagos, Niger and Sokoto states. Similarly, Cross Rivers and River states gave Abia State a good fight in the State with the Most Improved Security category. Receiving the awards on behalf of Orji, the state Deputy Governor, Sir Emeka Ananaba, commended the organisers, saying the recognition would give the governor and his team the impetus to do more for the state and the people. He said: “This is a great honour and we are so happy that people within and outside the state recognised the massive commitment of the governor and members of his cabinet to the Abia Project. “Everyone knows that Abia State deserves the State with the Most Improved Security in Nigeria given the reduction of crime-related activities in the state. As we speak, you can now sleep with your two eyes closed in Abia State.” In his opening remarks, the publisher of Business- Day Newspaper, Mr. Frank Aigbogun, said the Good Governance awards was aimed at promoting competitiveness and good governance among the states, noting that the perception that democracy was not yielding dividends was false as many governors were developing their states. He said: “These awards will deepen peer review mechanism and inspire competitiveness among the states. “The battle for performance in governance is getting tense among state governments and they are competing for the growing investment flow in the country. While there is always a temptation to say some states are not performing, I want to say much is going on and our democracy is growing.” Other winners at the event were Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross Rivers State in the Best Governor in ICT; Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State in the Best Governor in Transparency category; Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State in the Best Governor in Education category, among others. http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/abia-wins-good-governance-awards/ |
Keneking: So the convoy now moves with Axe?President GEJ is still a member of the confraternity. |
Regional cooperation amongst states for sustainable economic development and shared prosperity is key. All Southern states should close ranks and agitate for true-fiscal federalism and the Right to Secession to be entrenched in the nation's constitution. Federating states should have the rights and prerogative to either develop at their own pace or break-away from the federation if they so wish. |

FRESH AIR. Let's celebrate as Nigerians would now be allowed to register with Paypal and also do business with online merchants without being discriminated against. |
