Jodera: Mostob, watch "Ramsdale passing compilation of 2021/22" in YouTube. You'll see that you don't necessarily need tall players or height to give a good long ball. Ederson and Allison are good long ball passers, how many of their attackers had height??. None!!!(pre Haaland for Man City)
Just try and watch it and you'll see this your "height" reasons no hold water.
The reason why I'm even hard on Raya like this is because we already had a set system that was good and he's brought in to elevate that system. He was suppose to be the premium and from the look of things, he's our number one. I would have been less critical if they're made to compete for that role the way Arteta sold it to us I'm not disputing this. Both are good with long balls but what gives Raya an edge are accuracy and the timing of his passes. In addition, he has this commanding presence in the box. His saves and reflexes are what we should be comparing not the long balls. I still don't know why you're still fixated on this height stuff when I clearly mentioned other reasons too. Where the height talk even suffice was when I mentioned Havertz. it is really funny. Against City, He started going long when Havertz came in...why? there was height. I think you should watch his YouTube compilations at Brentford. |

Jodera: When Ramsdale was punting it for us during his last two seasons, who were the height players we had? Havertz?
When Raya was adjudged to have good long ball accuracy in Brentford, who were the height players? Toney, wissa or Mbeumo?
Lol, so If Havertz go injury, Raya no go play long ball again?
And does he necessarily have to give it to Havertz? We have tall Midfielders and defenders bumping forward like Ben White, why is he not locating them. At least, Ramsdale effectively uses those group. No? Lol... Statistically, how many of Ramsdale's long balls were accurate? Back then, most of his long balls were not even looped which made it easy for Auba to quickly knock the ball down for onrushing teammate. Laca may just drop into space and boom, Rammy would launch a low pass. At Brentford, Toney, Wissa and even Mbeumo are players that are very good in the air irrespective of their heights. Give me one...like one player currently in our squad that is as good as them aerially. Moreso, most of Raya's long balls at Brentford were often sent to the channels towards any of the trio. Yesterday, he played the same passes but our players failed to control them. Saka and White specifically were the recipients. I've seen him played a lot of accurate long balls this season so this is not even a debate. The debate is his positioning and lack of concentration. |

Jodera: Like I said it's only Jorginho that he started that has question mark. That was our best 11 bar Jorginho, so it's unfair to pin only Jorginho. When the lineup came out, nobody talked ill of the lineup and I'm not sure you saw it that way too. Same Jorginho started against Man city, I didn't see you rate Arteta poorly for the starting selection after the match.
2. Isn't it surprising that the match you rated Havertz as influential (against Man city CC, crystal palace towards the end of the game and City EPL) are times in which he played as Cf? Same thing have been harping since beginning of preseason. He always always underwhelms in midfield (Nottingham forest, Fulham, Man u, crystal palace before we went one man down). This are match I watched and every single time he underwhelms in midfield
Anytime he does well, it's certainly when he plays CF and you want to use that to compare with ESR who just played his 2nd match in midfield this season from bench?
O wrong nau!! It is like you don't know the extent of the damage Jorginho did to our entire system yesterday. Yes, he started against City but what exactly were his contributions? Does that mean we expect Chelsea and City games to turn out the same? The only match Havertz started as the natural CF among all the games I listed was that community shield. Havertz might have drifted to the CF but he didn't play as a CF. Whenever Havertz move to the center, Ode will drop deep while the wingers and Rice would all contested for the second ball. (this one na another topic sha). BTW, what I'm talking about here is what each player brings to the team not a general comparison per say. ESR came in yesterday but couldn't influence the match. Against a team sitting deep and defending their lead, ESR would have 'cooked'. So before we started protesting against a player starting or whatever, we need to consider their importance to the tactic the coach wants to execute. That's my point. |

Jodera: I go deh watch the accuracy again from now on and note am.
But it's really sad if only he tends to get accuracy when Havertz is on the pitch. If that's true, then his not really good the way he's touted to be. You're twisting this thing bro.... Height!!!!! That's the point. You can't be expecting him to be puffing the ball towards Jesus or Nketiah who are clearly shorter. His passes are not the main issue but the kind of goals he conceded. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 3:08pm On Oct 22, 2023 |
Jodera: Lol...Arteta 0/10 for player selection and substitution? This was our best 11 bar Jorginho and you criticized him for that? His substitute in Trossard scored and Tomi tried. No credit for that? Are you sure you aren't harsh with the rating?
Lol, na this match we wan use know difference between Havertz, ESR and Viera? Only one match shey? Same ESR wey dey hardly see match this season but Havertz wey even don over see match dieeee. Haba na!!!
But I agree with on that January transfer. We really need a scoring striker. Jesus have shown time and again that he isn't ruthless enough (you saw that his free shot that nearly went to throw in). And we really need a deputy for Saka. Saka ought not to have played ystdy if we had a very good replacement for him The Jorginho he started is exactly what destabilized the entire team yesterday. And bringing in ESR in that kind of game was a very bad idea. If he had gotten his selection right, we would be walking home with three points yesterday. City (community shield), Crystal Palace, City (EPL) and Chelsea matches are the games that exactly differentiate what Havertz bring to the team compared to ESR and Vieira. I just dey laugh when some here will be complaining about Arteta playing Havertz ahead of Vieira and ESR. Man gives us that physical presence we so much lack in the final third which none of the other 8s can provide. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 2:59pm On Oct 22, 2023 |
Jodera: Lol... Most of his long passes were just inacurate. I can count how many of his passes that went directly to throw in or just won by Chelsea players. Even against Man city too, same thing. I can't even believe our players miscontrol cos I didn't see any tbh. And even if I didn't watch the match, I'll find it difficult to believe it cos all our players are very very good at ball control no matter the ball.
Ramsdale of 2021/2022 season (his debut season), he was a beast even in long passes. Last season first half, he was very very good in long passes too(I remember our loss against Man u 3-1, and how he beats Man u presses with up long passes that's accurate, Liverpool first leg too is another good example).
The reason I felt Raya would bench Ramsdale is because I thought he's just a tier below Ederson and Allison in passes but so far, he hasn't really justified in my eyes why Ramsdale should be benched. Bro... you need to start taking note of his long passes henceforth. I vividly remember White miscontrolling one of his passes yesterday. Moreso, he tends to go long whenever Havertz is on the pitch. Ramsdale was once a good passer too but Raya has more accuracy. |

Jodera: You know I started watching him Against man city after my last match against Everton where he started. And he was that bad in feet against Man city. In fact, almost all the balls he got accurately (to G.jesus mostly) was after we had scored. Before then he was a mistake waiting to happen.
I asked my arsenal friends how he fared against Tottenham and aside that wondersave, most of his passes were erratic too.
Yesterday's game he was erratic in passing too. I mean, goalkeepers makes mistakes sometimes passing from the back, but his own is just way too much panick. Ramsdale doesn't bring such vibes at all.
See the pass he gave to Chelsea ystdy, two players were rushing his intended target yet he still gives the pass. Haba!!! It was not the passes but the recipients. Most of our forwards are short. The few times he went long yesterday, we either miscontrolled the ball or the opponent won the duel. |

What are your takes on this? Partey can't play as an 8. He is better as a lone 4. |

Rice won the game for us. That instinctive shot from him, not many players can do that.
Raya? I remember telling people to calm down and not to throw Ramsdale under the bus yet. Every GKs has their own lapses. His positioning for that second goal was poor especially when you consider the fact that he is short.
BTW, I hope this match have shown the fans the glaring differences between ESR, Vieira and Havertz.
0/10 for Arteta for the points lost. His player selection and substitution gave Chelsea a strange confidence.
January should come fast...we need some emergency transfer. Ivan Toney, and maybe another midfielder. Hopefully Timber comes back asap cos this Zinny no be am. |

There was nothing in forgiveness' post that suggested or cleared showed any tribal or political agenda. Instead of attacking his points on a footballing basis, you guys find it easy to pigeon hole him as advancing an ethnic or political agenda. That was basically what humility07 did and the rest have latched on to it.

TheSuperNerd: I agree. Sadiq's guile and technical nous with a balanced centre of gravity will compliment Moffi's linkman/off-the-last-shoulder traits.
Also it could provide a nice Big Striker-Bigger Striker combo with Sadiq doing the holdups or layoffs for Moffi to latch on to.
But alas... not workable as Sadiq can hardly win aerials or stay on his feet. His hold up also is average if not below. It's sad seeing Sadiq's technical side being let down by his physical side. You get it. His stature doesn't match his skillset. |

Mujtahida: The thing is that regardless of what you think is the motive of a commenter, treat his comment from a footballing point of view. If you do, the discussion will proceed as a football discussion. If you swallow the bait (that's if there's a bait because this is just an assumption on your part) and proceed to tackle the discussion from a political or ethnic point of view, then football will take backstage. We all treated his comment from footballing point of view despite his biased intent. The fact that he is still going along with his faulty agenda shows he is throwing a bait - to pit the two players against each other. If we had taken the bait, a lot of stats and laurels of each player would be flying around here by now. |

Jodera: Personally to me, Havertz made the best decision. The way the ball dropped and how Ake have already covered Havertz path to goal or dribble, it'll be very difficult for him to make that attempt on goal and if he does, Heavens know say I for insult am.
Best bet was hold the ball up and lay it perfectly for an onrushing player for a curler (or R2). That he did perfectly (he even laid it on Martinelli right feet sef, so that he doesn't need an extra touch). It's up to Martinelli now to execute the shot/curler perfectly, which to me he didn't do perfectly but then he was lucky with the deflection.
I'm still saying it, Martinelli should master that out of the box curler very well. Most wingers nowadays are known for that. Thank You!!! It was a 5 vs 3 but there was an advantage in that one of us was free. |

Looks like Moffi has entered the chat.
Boniface has more of the preference. Iheanacho is next. Sadiq and Moffi with one each. Interesting.
