By Sam Eyoboka JUST when eminent Christians, worried by the intractable crisis in Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, are suing for a truce, CAN leadership, last night, described the National Christian Elders Forum, (NCEF) and the Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) as para-Church organisations not recognised by CAN Constitution. CAN President, Dr Samson Ayokunle In a statement signed by Bishop Stephen Adegbite, the Director of National Issues and Mobilization, Christian Association of Nigeria and titled, CAN Has No Supervisory Board, the umbrella body of Christians denounced what it described as frivolous, misleading and unfounded allegations against the leadership of CAN, especially the President. “Both organisations are aliens to the Constitution of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). These people are false-alarmists who are pursuing selfish interests appealing to public sentiment in order to mislead them against a credible leader and organization. We are well aware that angels of Satan do camouflage as angels of light. CAN is not operating under their supervision and their selfish and false submissions on the report of the panel set up by National Executive Committee of CAN on Prof. Joseph Otubu’s false allegations does not require their opinion to be valid”, the statement said. Reacting, the Chairman of NCEF, Elder Solomon Asemota, SAN, in a release titled: “Rejoinder: CAN has no supervisor”, expressed shock at the CAN statement. Asemota wondered why anybody would make an issue of a constitutional recognition, arguing: “It is not possible for NCEF that was inaugurated on January 15, 2015 to be in the current CAN Constitution which was signed into effect in 2004. The statement that because NCEF is not in the CAN Constitution and therefore not qualified to make comments on CAN issues is trite and irrelevant. “NCEF does not agree that it is trying to ‘supervise’ CAN; far from it. The National Christian Elders Forum is stakeholder in CAN and has the right to demand accountability from its representatives. The “immunity clause” that the current CAN officials wish to accord themselves is non-existent”. According to the Christian Elders group, the Nigerian Church is very unfortunate with its current group of CAN officials. It said the intransigence and unwillingness to accept correction is un-Christian, stressing that even if crime was committed or mistakes were made, the Christian response is to repent and seek forgiveness. The group explained that NCEF is made up of 27 Christian Elders from all the geo-political zones in Nigeria who are above 70 years, adding that it is inconceivable that these accomplished elders would seek to malign or slander a younger man occupying the office of the President of CAN. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/can-christian-elders-in-war-of-words/ |
Bitter truth ATIKU will loss in his own State. Remember you dire not accuse Buhari in Borno, Bauchi, and Yobe. They have been Buhari states since 2003. Remember how a sitting PDP governor of Gombe in 2015 advised people to vote for Buhari at the top and vote for him has the state governor. One thing many of these PDP supporters don't know is that no PDP governorship candidate in the north campaign openly against Buhari. |

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Garba Madami, has described the Ekiti/Isin/Oke-Ero and Irepodun federal constituency bye-election peaceful. Madami said this on Saturday in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government area of the state while speaking with newsmen. He said Nigerians should emulate the people of the constituency because of the way they conducted themselves for the election on Saturday. “I am very happy with the turn out of voters and the peaceful way the people here have conducted themselves. “This is how election should be. This is the spirit of election and I want Kwarans to keep this up and Nigerians should emulate them,” Madami said. He said the reports he has received are positive but for some places where there were card reader hitches which were resolved in the due course. Despite rumours in some quarters of vote buying, Madami denied there was anything like that. In any case, he said, he has not received any news of such. He urged Nigerians with defaced cards to approach his office for a replacement as they may have problems voting. Madami called on those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to come for them as they have until first week of February to collect them.. www.kwarareporters.com/2018/11/inec-speaks-on-kwara-bye-election.html?m=1

*Saturday Election: Five journalists on a hatchet job for Saraki* We have been reliably informed that there are five male journalists contracted by the PDP top hierarchy for Saraki to write false reports on this election after PDP might have lost the election. They have been given observer tags which they will wear to the polling stations. Sensing defeat at the polls these men on hatchet mission will conjure reports that will undermine the process. The public is by this report alertred to the antics of the anti- democratic forces led by Senator Bukola Saraki. Electorates are enjoined to come out and exercise their civic duty on Saturday without any fear of intimidation from PDP hatchet men. *APCSituationReport* |
PDP and their aid are the same. Meanwhile Buhari said: Let anybody lead this country but not PDP. |
By Onozure Dania A Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, yesterday dismissed a contempt application filed by a former Minister of State for Finance, Mrs. Esther Nenadi Usman, seeking to commit the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to prison for the inclusion of her name in the ‘looters’ list’ he released to the public. Justice Rilwan Aikawa described the application as a distraction which could interfere with the speedy determination of the matter. Usman, who is standing trial over alleged money laundering, preferred against her and a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, had argued in the contempt application that the inclusion of her name on the list released by the information minister during the pendecy of the case against her was contemptuous. She therefore urged the court to commit the Information Minister to prison for contempt of court for his alleged contemptuous action. She also submitted that Mohammed’s action undermines the integrity of the court aimed at poisoning the mind of the public against her. But the EFCC lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, urged the court to decline Usman’s application, insisting that the applicant was never referred to as a looter by the information minister, adding that what was published by some newspapers only bordered on allegations and cannot be said to be prejudicial to the applicant’s case in court. He said: “The minister of information is not a party to the criminal proceedings against the applicant.” There is no evidence to show that the alleged contemnor works with the various media houses that published the alleged offensive publication. Besides, there were no allegations against the media houses that published the alleged offensive publication. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/looters-list-court-throws-out-contempt-suit-against-lai-mohammed/

"Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP. They were so reckless with the resources of the country,” Buhari I stand with this |
By Johnbosco Agbakwuru PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buahri Friday said that the endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, carried no weight as he was advised by well-meaning leaders from the South East to disregard the endorsement. President Buhari specifically said that the split within the Ohanaeze Igbo socio-cultural group over the reported endorsement of Abubakar, for the 2019 election did not surprise him. Speaking at a meeting with a select group of South-east leaders led by the National Chairman of the United Progressive Party, UPP, Chief Chekwas Okorie at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, Buhari said that the moment the so-called resolution was announced, he got calls from well-meaning leaders from the region asking him to disregard it as it was without any substance. In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, the President said, “From that moment, I knew that the resolution would not stand, and alas, there it was.” President Buhari said that his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, got it right from the very beginning that the major problems facing the country were mainly on security, corruption and the economy. “We have done so much. Given the chance, we will do more. Given every chance, we will tell Nigerians where we were in 2015 and what we have achieved up to now. “We will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP. We earned money, which we didn’t use,” he said. “The state of infrastructure we inherited was terrible – no roads, the railway was killed and power. They lacked conscience because anybody with conscience will not do what they did. We will report them to Nigerians. Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP. They were so reckless with the resources of the country,” the President said. “If you ruin the economy, send your children abroad to get education, won’t they come back?” he asked, adding: “I said it 30 years ago that this is the only country we have. We must stay here and salvage it together.” The leaders of the delegation, Engineer Emeka Ekwuosa and the National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie, informed President Buhari that the Igbos and South-easterners generally understand the good things he is doing for Nigeria which they said, had unfortunately been misunderstood. They promised to mobilise support for him in the south-east, saying that his re-election will be a national consensus. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/2019-igbo-leaders-told-me-to-ignore-atikus-enugu-endorsement-buhari/
