emperorlaqrin: I would have loved to engage this person honestly however since you tagged his post I would just address all the points he has made.
Yea I respect his views because we are all entitled to our views and we all see things in different opinions but honestly I don’t think we are been fair with one another in this country hence the level of injustice we all support and this last election has definitely shown that majority of us either from the Igbo or Yoruba are hypocritical with our views.
As a Yoruba man who has lived in the North, whose majority of allies and friends are igbos , married to an Igbo and definitely have several personal relationships with my Yoruba people I had always said to people who cared to listen to me that Yorubas are the worst ethnic group among them all while Hausa will forever be the best. Yes my view is based on my personal relationships with this three majority groups and another person own could be otherwise so I respect that. having said this let me address some of the points.
1. On his first point the level of voters education and awareness on the need to vote in this last election is much than the previous elections where majority of the voters were party men/women and few people who still had believe in the electoral system hence the reason you will see according to records it’s only a few fractions that comes out to vote in Nigeria and this is the only time Youths came out because most are now aware that the only way bad governance can be changed is through there votes. So what changed voters education was the difference and the majority that voted in this election were just tired of the direction country is heading.
2. My questions are why blame some for capitalizing on a loophole and praise another person for also doing same ?
Where is the fairness in a political party and candidate that forgot Nigeria as a circular country needs to practice what she preaches. Where is the principle of federal character when a candidate opted for a vice that was from his same religion. He aligned with what was best for him that could give him the chance of winning. So where is the fairness in that ? Or how did peter obi capitalize or create whatever the writer termed “hate”.
Apc chose a strategy and LP capitalized on the game plan created by APC so I don’t see why we should be biased with our judgments because in all honesty if ApC had chosen a Christian vice, we won’t have been discussing all this.
3. This writer first statement in the third paragraph is some of the issues we are having anyway atleast his own abuse is constructive not some supporters who resorts into abuse, attack, insult and curses but I am going to say this first everyone who followed this election very well knows inside him and her that the massive support for peter obi was not about religion or tribe only if we want to keep on deceiving ourselves. Prior to the election people were tired and I can say it out rightly that a lot of people like me didn’t know who to support prior to obi emergence.
The support he receives from someone like me is not because I see him as the messiah, Yes I don’t see him performing extra ordinarily also but just for one reason which is how frugal he his to finance. Thats the kind of president we need at this period because the level of debts and corruption in this country is way too much to allow other candidates emerge. Anyway Someone has been announced and we can only pray for the best.
Now on the issue of Lagos is a No mans Land this is the only place I would agree with the writer because honestly The ApC capitalized on this word and used it against Labour Party and that gave APC a clear victory even before the election.
However my point on this is that we only allowed a political party create enmity among ourselves by using the tactics of divide and rule. My point is that even without the word claimed to have emanated from Igbos sanwoolu would still have won the election even though he and the party were jittery hence the reason for adopting all means in winning the election. So my take on this is that it was Just a propaganda that igbos wants to take over Lagos.
On the issue of sanwoolu victory I disagree with the writer because we only showed how tribalistic we are by intimidating, threatening, disenfranchising or fellow citizen from supporting his or her choice due to some fallacies that was spread by a political party just to make it seems that a tribe wants to take over there land. Where is the justice in disenfranchising your fellow country man ? What is the essence of the voters education, what is the essence of the billion spent? Anyway the enjoyment we all receive most especially in Lagos is that we all continue to have voters apathy because more people will be disinterested in 2027 election
So the writer has admitted in the last paragraph that all the propaganda spread was not initiated by obi nor majority of his teeming supporters but just by a fraction of few he tagged headless mob which we all know who they are just because of politics.
Lastly the notion that majority are spreading are that obi supporters are mainly Igbo is very wrong because the man his recognized by other ethnic group as well.
Ire ooo Agree to disagree. My point is you can't accuse a tribe sophisticated and complex like the Yòruba's of something you're equally guilty of. I heavenly condemn the attack on voters in some part of Lagos, the actions of agberos (thugs) tho. But you don't hear Lagos is no Man's land again. |

peter0071: Ok i get your point now... Here's a more accurate view: courtesy of ihordspy 👍🏽 lhordspy: Some people still dont get this. Maybe because they are very new to Nigeria politics or first time voters.
During the Presidential campaign. The candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi exploited and explored our diversity, he capitalised on our religious differences in particular to instigate hate among the the two major religion we have in Nigeria. CAN, PFN turned themselves into a political group. Especially General overseers, they turned the altar into a political stage to preach politics and propagate hate against Muslim candidates.
Peter Obi's victory in Lagos during the presidential election wasn't just from the igbos alone but from 'some' brain clouded, emotional religious sentimental yoruba christ!ans who were sold with the Jihad bullcraps. After the victory, instead of building bridges, extending hand of friendship with the yourbas that voted against Obi, making them reason by drawing them closer and also at sametime solidifying the alliances with yorubas on their side already, that voted for obi. The southe@sterners, feeling pompous and inflated came with the campaign of 'taking over lagos' . .. They ran twitter spaces, host interviews aided by their propaganda media house, AriseTV, scribbles and tweets were churned out about how they will sack all the obas and takeover the whole place.
How can you expect the yorubas who sided with you against their tribesman, Tinubu in the presidential election to feel about it? Happy that you want to takeover their ancestral land and mock them with it in return, just like you use the word; 'Afonja ' consistently to make mockery of our loss in Ilorin.
Sanwo Olu victory was not as a result of tribalism. The yorubas fought together as one again, and they won. Different yorubas from different religion, political parties, and across all board left our differences asides at the corner, came together to 'rescue ourselves'. (once bitten, twice shy)
At first it was cruise, then it became aggressive, now it is uncontrollable.. Cant even be tamed nor can they reason well. It is all noise, zero thinking and strategy. The Obidient movement is turning out to be a curse to Peter Obi and the hardworking innocent igbos who committed no crime but paying for the sins of the headless mob. |

peter0071: thats the glitch. GVR is totally Yoruba... why deny Him and tag him another tribe just because his mum is IGBO?? so does it mean that Davido's kids have no future in Yorubaland? does it mean that most the families of most Yorubas who married none Yorubas have no political future in their fatherland? Igbos as well as other tribes didnt vote for Tribe nor religion... we voted for competence and personality You still don't get do you?🤷🏾♂️ I blame the propaganda of the LP. GRV made tribal slurs against his own people I made a post about it . |
