Men of the Anambra State police command have arrested a 29-year-old lady, Chinwendu Umegbakafoe, for allegedly stealing her neighbor’s child.

Umegbaka allegedly stole the three year old girl with the intention to sell her.

Anambra State Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who confirmed this incident said the baby has however been rescued and returned to her parents.

A press release signed by Ikenga reads.

“The Anambra State Command Operatives on 2/7/2022 at 4:30pm arrested one Miss Chinwendu Umegbaka, 29years, native Isinkwo Abaomege in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State.

She was arrested on alleged case of child stealing at Nwawulu street, Okpoko, Onitsha, Anambra State. Preliminary information reveals that the suspect is a neighbor to the parent of the child.

Chinwendu when arrested initially denied to know the whereabout of the 3year old girl. Further interrogation by the police made her to confess to stealing the child with the intention of selling her.

Meanwhile, the child has been recovered and handed over to the parent''

He added that further investigation into the matter has commenced, and would be communicated as events unfold.

The Police in Imo State have arrested Uzoma Egemba for scalding the buttocks, thighs and body of his 12-year-old maid for riding his children’s bicycle.

Egemba who hails from Mbaise was arrested at his Umuguma residence in the early hours of Thursday following efforts made by some concerned citizens, led by social media influencer, Darlington Ibekwe, and an activist journalist, Chidiebube Okeoma.

Egemba, who is currently in detention at New Owerri Police Divisional Headquarters, blamed the devil for his action.

He said that he burnt the girl’s body on Sunday after he saw her riding the bicycle he bought for his children.

The concerned Nigerians took interest in the girl’s case following a video clip made by her school teacher which went viral on Wednesday.

Okeoma thereafter took the girl to Imo specialist hospital Umuguma- Owerri, where she was admitted.

At the hospital, the member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency, Okey Onyekanma, where the girl hails from, representatives of the National Human Rights Commission, members of the Owerri branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, and an activist, Uba Dinamuta, came and vowed to ensure the child gets justice.

One of the doctors, who refused to disclose her identity, told our correspondent that the injuries the girl sustained from the burning were deep.

She said that the girl would spend time at the hospital to enable them to take care of her.

The mother of the girl, Amarachi Jude, told our correspondent that she needs justice.

When contacted, the police spokesperson for the Command, Micheal Abattam, said that he had not been briefed.

''On Wednesday 22-6-2022 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in one of our parishes in Calabar, St. Charles Lwanga. It was something more than 100 people witnessed,even a Protestant pastor who came to visit his cousin, the assistant priest.

He took these pictures. The rays around her were too bright for a clear picture. She moved up to the Shrine dedicated to her and then was taken up. It was amazing, the entire aura around the parish, that evening. She didn’t say anything to anyone. But I think she came to assure of God’s presence with us.

Even the rays of light on the premises showed there was something happening. May the prayers of our Blessed Mother help our country Nigeria. Amen.''

A Member Of The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Stephenie Se-Ember Terungwa, who was kidnapped and murdered in Abuja has been laid to rest, Reports.

Gathered That, The 25-Year-Old Corps Member was laid to rest in her hometown, Mbakumbur, Mav-Ikyov in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State on Thursday, June 30.

Stephanie was declared missing after leaving home with her son for Community Development Service (CDS) in April, 2022.

She was later found dead two weeks after she disappeared with her body mutilated in the Lokogoma area of the capital.

Three suspects namely; Jennifer Tsembe, 26, Monday Simon (a.k.a Black) 36, and Solomon Abu, 35, all residents of Oguta lake Maitama area of the FCT, were arrested for her murder.

Police said Jennifer conspired with the other suspects and allegedly murdered Stephanie so as to be with the victim's partner, Edward Achadu.
