No fewer than 25 lives have been claimed in a ghastly accident that occurred at Aloma in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Sunday.

LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the accident occurred on Sunday morning when a fully loaded Toyota Sienna bus collided with a Toyota Hiace bus and another articulated vehicle.

Eyewitness account stated that the two vehicles collided while attempting to negotiate a pothole on the road and caught fire immediately, burning all the occupants to death.

Another eyewitness told LEADERSHIP that the accident, which happened in front of Aloma Teachers’ College, involved two buses and a trailer.

All the passengers in the Toyota bus, including the driver were burnt to death.

Those in the sienna bus too were burnt, with no survivor. An articulated vehicle that packed nearby the incident also caught fire in the process and burnt to ashes. A house closer to the area was also destroyed by the raging inferno.

“We are yet to confirm of any survivor, except those in the packed articulated vehicle,” said Adejo Usman, a resident of Aloma.

He said the villagers could not do anything to rescue some trapped passengers due to absence of fighting equipment.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Samuel Ayodeji, when contacted could not respond.

Police return N9.9million to rightful owner after it was mistakenly transferred to a POS operator

The Kano State Police says it has handed over about N9.9 million wrongly transferred to a POS operator, to the rightful owner in Dawanau Grain International market in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the State.

The Command disclosed this in a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa in Kano on Thursday, March 14. He said a POS operator reported to the Police that he realized that one of his customers who is yet to be identified, wrongly transferred N10 million instead of N10,000.

Kiyawa explained that on receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, directed a discreet investigation to identify the rightful owner in order to return the money to him.

He said that it took the Police investigation team three months before identifying the original owner of the huge amount.

On March 14, the investigation was concluded sequel to the uncovering of the identity of the rightful owner, who happened to be a trader at the famous Dawanau Grains Market located in Dawakin Tofa. The owner (name withheld) commended the POS operator and the Police for their efforts and out of joy he presented a cash gift of N500,000 to the POS operator. He also appreciated the commissioner for the show of honesty and integrity by the police, saying this was a demonstration of exemplary leadership,“ he said.

Christianity EtcWhy Ladies Above 35 Years Should Propose To Men – Rev Father Oluoma by MrCover(op): 9:21am On Mar 14, 2024
Famous Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev Fr Chinenye Oluoma, has urged women who have clocked 35 years and desire to marry not to wait for men to propose to them.

Oluoma suggested that women in that age bracket should break the law and convention by approaching men first, especially men have shown signs of liking to them, instead of waiting endlessly in vain.

The cleric’s advice was contained in a video he shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to him, those who are above 35 years and continue to wait for men to propose to them suggest they are not yet ready for marriage.

At 35 years of age, my dear sister, you are waiting for a man who will come to propose to you at the airport. 35 years? You’re not ready. You are waiting for a man to come and propose to you. ‘You don de enter menopause’. Menopause ‘means that men will pause'

Break the law! I’m saying this but it may sound funny. If you’re a young girl and you know marriage is your calling; you can be a good mother. You happen to see any guy who is interested in you but doesn’t have courage. You know some guys like some ladies but they don’t have the courage, some guys don’t the courage. You discover that this guy have shown signs of liking you but doesn’t have the courage of talking to you. My dear sister break that useless law. Approach that guy. Break that useless convention. Meet the guy and say ‘Bro, I know you like me but you don’t have the courage’. Tell him ‘I will make it easy for you’. Tell him your good qualities.
