A Man Identified as Michael Okponung has been declared missing by his family in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It was Gathered that Okponung was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, June 25, after dropping a suicide note at the premises of his spiritual mother's church. All efforts to trace his whereabouts have proved abortive. In a Statement released Sunday, June 26, the spokesperson of the police command, DSP Bright Edafe, said on Saturday, June 25 at about 10.30am, one Mrs Success Oduwa, 24, of Peanuts junction, Obeh in Edo State, discovered that she has not seen their child since the morning of June 24, and started troubling the husband as to the whereabouts of the child. The husband told her that the child is with his sister in Warri. On getting to Warri, she stated that she discovered the husband was lying to her, hence her suspicion. She reported to the Commander, Quick Response Squad, that she is suspecting her husband named, Volt Blessing Gabriel (m) age 33yrs of same address, to have killed their child named Godspower Gabriel (m) aged one year and eight months for ritual purposes. The Commander RRS detailed operatives who swung into action, arrested the husband and handed him over to the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri for further investigation. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have murdered the said child at Ewabogun bush by catholic road, Benin city using hand saw to cut off the head and buried it by a palm tree in the bush and threw away the headless body of the child.'' When quizzed on why he carried out the dastard act, the suspect was quoted as saying that he killed the child because of a dream he had where he saw a man who told him that if he kills the child, and uses the child’s blood to rub his head, he will become rich. Update From . COM Anambra State Police Operatives on Sunday killed a man, acting as driver to criminals during an operation at Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state. A press release by Anambra State Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said gang members escaped during a confrontation with security forces, leaving the driver of their operational vehicle, who was killed. Ikenga said: “Anambra State Police Operatives today 26/6/2022 at about 4:45pm gunned down the driver conveying armed men in Uli. “Operatives recovered one Honda Odyssey salon car with registration number WER 221 ZS-IMO and Charms.” He said the police operatives were stationed at a nipping point, along Onitsha/Owerri road, Uli, when the gunmen approached them. “The operatives repelled an attack by the gunmen. The gunmen plied one-way and started shooting sporadically, approaching the personnel at the nipping point. “The operatives swiftly engaged the armed men and demobilize their operational vehicle. While some of them escape through the bush, the driver was neutralized. No loss of life on the part of the police.” Ikenga said operation was still ongoing in the area, adding that further details will be communicated on any success in tracking the fleeing suspects. Father Christopher Osia, Of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ikabigbo community, Etsako West Local Government Area, who was abducted by gunmen early hour of today in Edo State has been reportedly killed. DAILY POST had reported that the priest was kidnapped Ikabigbo community of Etsako West Local Government Area of the state on Sunday morning. Fellow Catholic Priest, Fr Kelvin Ugwu confirmed the killing in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday night. He wrote, “Sad News: The priest of Auchi diocese, Rev Fr Christopher Osia, that was kidnapped this morning the 26th of June 2022 on his way to mass has been killed”.
