News Of The World:
DEBT-RIDDEN Man United are taking FOOD out of their loyal workers' mouths as they scrimp to save the pennies.
Staff at the once super-rich club used to get free hot meals and soft drinks on match days - but now that perk has been booted into touch.
And instead they have to settle for a SARNIE and TAP WATER at the home of the Premier League champs.
While the club tries to penny pinch on lower-paid staff, star players like Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand are on wages of more than £100,0000 a week.
Old Trafford workers been also been told they now have to PAY £3 for match programmes they used to get for nothing.
An insider told us: "Everything at the club is now about how we can save money. Over the past year staff have noticed the penny pinching."
The Red Devils were one of the most profitable football clubs in the world before being bought in 2005.
But manager Alex Ferguson's Theatre of Dreams has been plunged into nightmare debt as owner Malcolm Glazer tackles huge bills to repay loans taken out to secure the club.
This is serious. . . . shocked shocked shocked

MrCrackles:
Carlos Tevez calls Gary Neville a 'slowpoke
Carlos Tevez has branded Gary Neville a "boot-licker" and a "slowpoke" in explaining his goal celebration in Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final.
Former Manchester United striker Tevez gestured and cupped his ears towards their bench after scoring twice in a Manchester City's feisty 2-1 derby win.
"My celebration was directed at Gary Neville," Tevez told ESPN Argentina.
"He acted like a complete boot-licker when he said I wasn't worth £25m, just to suck up to the manager," he added
Before the first-leg tie, Neville had said United were right to let Tevez leave in the summer, rather than signing him on a permanent deal after his two-year loan spell ended.
And during United's defeat cameras appeared to catch Neville making an obscene gesture when Tevez scored.
"I don't know what the hell that slowpoke [tarado] is talking about me for," said Tevez. "I never said anything about him.
"I didn't go overboard in my celebration and it was directed at Gary, not at Ferguson and not at the fans.
"I think he did the wrong thing because I was his team-mate and I never said anything bad about him."
While Tevez vented his fury at Neville, the Football Association was promising to speak to both Manchester clubs before next week's second leg in an attempt to defuse possible tensions.
Truth be told, Gary Neville is an unruly tout. . .

BBCSports:
Manchester United suffer John O'Shea injury blow

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said defender John O'Shea is likely to miss the rest of the season because of a leg problem.
O'Shea, 28, has not played since the Republic of Ireland's World Cup play-off against France in November as his nation failed to reach the finals.
Ferguson told the Irish Independent: "He's got a terrible injury - the blood clot became all knotted.
"It's a long process to clear it up and he'll probably miss the season now."
United have had problems in defence this season, with Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Wes Brown, Rafael Da Silva, Fabio Da Silva and Gary Neville all having significant spells out of the game.
O'Shea's injury was initially thought to be nothing more serious than a dead leg.

It's more than just the wages of the players, remember that more players in our youth teams mean the need to improve the youth system to accommodate them, this means we start to pay coaches.
It also means more training expenses and many other things like that.

It doesn't make economic sense to pay someone and spend money on him per week if we know he's going to end up in Plymouth on a free at the end of the day.
I still dont agree with you and how you and Debosky think our wage bill will skyrocket because we bought Galindo and are tracking the likes of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Canales, Adam Matthews and Co. . . .
The existing coaching set up and facilities is enough to cater for any influx of talented youths. . . .
We have loads of youngsters who are never going to be ready for 1st team and if we are to maintain our culture, we need to tap the best outhere. . .

BBC News:
Manchester United debt hits £716m
Debts at the parent company of Manchester United have increased to £716.5m ($1.17bn), according to its latest accounts.
Red Football Joint Venture is owned by the Glazer family and secures its debts against the football club.
The accounts, for the year to June 2009, show United's debts passing £700m for the first time.
They also confirm that six of Malcolm Glazer's children were each given loans worth £1.67m from the parent company.
All are directors of Red Football, and such a practice is legal.
However Keith Harris, the head of merchant bank Seymour Pierce who has been involved in four Premier League club takeovers, questioned whether it was sensible.
"You would not expect directors to be borrowing money at a company of United's size," he told the Guardian newspaper.
"And, although it is now allowed legally, it is generally still frowned upon because it does not create a good impression of the directors' governance of the company."
Fan protests
The club's fans have recently protested against the Glazer's ownership.
After last week's revelation that the club was considering raising £500m through a bond issue to refinance its debts, supporters held up a banner saying "Love United, Hate Glazer" at Saturday's home match against Burnley.
Mark Longden, chairman of the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association, said then that United was being "driven to oblivion".
The accounts of Red Football Joint Venture also showed that more than £69m was paid out in interest alone over the year.
Despite the debts, the club turned a profit of £6.4m for the year.
This was a marked improvement on the £47m loss reported at the end of the 2007/08 season.
The accounts also show that player sales brought in a profit of £80.7m - the price paid by Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

Wenger might have been conned by that Galindo kid. If that's the case, it serves Wenger right - you don't go stealing players from under another club's nose. tongue

The haste in signing the guy is very unusual - Wenger usually scouts for ages before signing, but when you take a player based on a two day trial alone without 'background checks'? Very sloppy.

Buying yet more kids? There had better be a clear out of unproductive youth players cos we can't afford to let our wage bill rise continuously from signing new kids everyday.

I heard an interesting rumour today that Wenger missed training at Colney y'day and had an earlier than usual press conference.

Did he sneak out to finalise a deal? Watch this space!!
And how much are the kids earning to bring about a significant or sharp rise on our wage bill huh
