Without negotiation, such conflicts may lead to argument and resentment resulting in one or all of the parties feeling dissatisfied. The point of negotiation is to try to reach agreements without causing future barriers to communications.
Effective negotiation is a skill, and like any skill, it can be learned. Contrary to what everyone thinks, top negotiators are not hard bargainers and tough-minded personalities. They are not aggressive and demanding. They do not manipulate their negotiating partners into unsatisfactory agreements. The best negotiators are simply warm, friendly and low-keyed pleasant people. They are likeable and agreeable. It just so happened that people feel comfortable agreeing with them.
Here are the Top 5 effective negotiation skills to watch out for:
1. Preparation
Preparation accounts for 90% of negotiating success. Preparation includes determining goals, areas for trade and alternatives to the stated goals. Gather as much pertinent information prior to the negotiation. Ensure all the pertinent facts of the situation are known in order to clarify your own position. The more and better prepared you are prior to a negotiation, the more likely it is that the outcome of the negotiation will be satisfactory for all parties involved.
2. Listen
Listening is a fairly underrated skill in today’s world. A lot of time, when in the middle of a conversation, or trying to conclude a deal we get very excited that it’s so easy to assume what others are saying or finish what others are saying for them. The importance of listening is because it will cause the other party to feel respected and it will build trust (another very important aspect in any negotiation). Listening entails making sure what you’ve heard is actually correct. The more information you get, the better able you’ll be to uncover others’ needs. It will then be easier for you to show how you are able to meet those needs. Communication is a two-way street. It’s not enough to make yourself understood.
3. Verbal Communication
It’s important to make sure your views are clearly understood, to eliminate the chance of potential deal breakers through poor communication. Negotiators must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to the other side during the negotiation. Misunderstandings can occur if the negotiator does not state his case clearly. During a bargaining meeting, an effective negotiator must have the skills to state his desired outcome as well as his reasoning.
4. Win-Win Approach
A lot of times we are so focused on getting what we want in a negotiation, we don’t even think about the other person. This approach focuses on what is termed a 'win-win' outcome where both sides feel they have gained something positive through the process of negotiation and both sides feel their point of view has been taken into consideration. This is the strategy that has the best formula for success. Although this may not always be possible, through negotiation, it should be the ultimate goal.
5. Ask Great Questions
Open-ended, probing questions compel the person to reflect and share more of them. It makes them feel heard and invites dialog and intimate connection. Ask questions that will get them to talk about their interests and their life in a way that provides you with insight into their needs and wants. When you help them gain a new, positive perspective about their situation, they will feel a deep sense of connection with you.

Within the last 24 hours; broadcast messages has been sent to all groups and all sorts of social platform in our citadel of learning about a 200Level Agricultural Economics student called *Ajayi Adewale Muktar* also known as *Wale Bouncer* even with a picture to prove the apex at which the illness has done damage to his organs.

Leukemia is a sort of cancer of the blood cells that affects the bone marrow which symptoms are extreme pains in the bones and joints, night sweats, feeling weak, bleeding and bruising easily, weight loss, discomfort etc. I am not mentioning this symptoms to mock him or make jest of him, as I deeply bow my head in despair to pen down this dark moments but to make us know our friend, our brother, a son to some parents, a future leader any kind of relation he fits in our dear life would be feeling right now.

According to our sources as at 19:36HRS 24th August 2016, that is 7:36PM some tests were carried out on him today and to our utmost suprise(not happy to tell you this), the doctors said "he needs to be flown out of the country(INDIA)" to receive proper care and treatment as the medical equipment for the treatment is not available on our dear soil.

In lieu of this, we are urging Ladokites far and near, Parents from all nooks and cranny of Nigeria to kindly help our dear brother with whatever is within our reach - although the amount hasn't been disclosed yet for medical proceedings.

Ekemini, the 13-year-old girl pregnant girl (pictured with Hope) who was rescued by Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven and her husband David Emmannuel Umem, will be undergoing a caesarean section operation because doctors discovered that the position of her baby in the uterus is not normal. Moreover, her pelvis is not completely developed due to her young age. Anja's post below:


"Last week I told you about Ekemini, a 13 year old pregnant girl who David Emmanuel Umem and our team rescued and brought to DINNødhjælp/ACAEDF Childrens Home in Nigeria. Since we rescue this beautiful young girl we took her to the hospital for examination.

The doctors discovered that the position of her baby in the uterus is not normal, so she will not be able to deliver her baby vaginally. So next week Thursday Ekemini will have a caesarean section operation. Besides that, because of Ekemini´s very young age her pelvis is not completely developed so if she deliver her baby vaginally the labour might be prolong, and where there is prolong labour complications might set in.


As you also know Hope is also having an operation. Hypospadias is an inborn condition in which one has an incomplete developed urethra. Urethral meatus opens incorrectly at various locations along the underside of the penis, scrotum or in the perineum. The doctors found this inborn condition on Hope.
We have been waiting a very long time for Hope to be operated, but always remember that we are living in an area where the health system is not working as you know it to do in the western world countries.
On the 27 of May our nurse Rose will take Hope to see the doctor for him to make all the necessary tests on Hope that is needed before his hypospadias operation. And after the tests has been made a date for the operation will be arranged.
