I disagree with your number 2. There is a difference between stew and sauce. They can both stand alone. The 2 lines are therefore correct.

Same with me since late December. Not been able to get a full solution. I use an Umidigi phone, but when i tried it on a Samsung galaxy s7 it worked on it and also on particular Nokia torch light phone, but other phones no way.

Am also experiencing the same thing on my A 7 pro.... MTN sim not working for about 4days now, and I just upgraded the SIM about two months ago....

Also upgraded SIM about 2-3 months ago too.

Try it on a small feature phone.

If e no show, go retrieve am.

Just tried it now on a Samsung S8, and the sim worked on it. but inserted back into my phone, still not working. tried on other umidigi phones too, not working.
So what could be wrong, Is the SIM selecting phones.

Put another MTN in that slot...... The problem is your sim card........

Its looking a lot like its a sim issue. Will try your suggestion out.

I have a challenge o. My MTN sim is not registering on my A5 pro, Started about 3 days ago, when the sim is in, it shows sim tray empty, but my 9 mobile sim is working.
I have shutdown and restarted lot of times, interchanged the sims, left it alone, tried all sort but its not coming up. tried it on other umidigi phones and a huawei phone but no show.
Even got in touch with MTN on twitter and they said the sim is showing active from their end.

Please has anyone experienced this, and does anyone have a solution to offer.
