The police in Imo state have
arrested members of the
Movement for the
Actualisation of the Sovereign
State of Biafra
(MASSOB), suspected to be in
possession of Improvised
Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The suspects, identified as
Love Davison and Eze Charles,
were said to have made the
IEDs in a bid to disrupt peace
in the state today as the
governorship and House of
Assembly elections take place.

Parading the suspects at the
Imo state police command
headquarters in Owerri, the
capital of the state, the
command spokesman,
Andrew Enwerem, said the
men of the command arrested
the suspects following a tip
off. He said officers raided the
hideout of the suspects at
Umuokirika Ekwereazu in
Mbaise LGA of the state, and
arrested the two suspects.
He told Channels TV that
efforts were being intensified
by the police to apprehend
the leader of the gang, whose
identity is yet to be confirmed.
Recovered from the suspects
were a drilling machine,
gunpowder, tins of paint,
thread, buckets and other
items identified as
components of the IEDs.

Meanwhile, MASSOB has
insisted on the removal of
the Independent National
Electoral Commission
boss, Attahiru Jega.

Reports emanating from
Ebonyi state reveal that, two
persons were shot dead in
the early hours of Saturday,
April 11, by unknown gunmen
in the state.
Vanguard reports that the
victims include a middle aged
man, Mr. Mike Ojor in Ikwo
Nnoyo in Ikwo local
government area and the
Chairman of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in
Ishielu LGA of the state, Mr.
Emeka Nworie.
It was gathered that the
architect of the dastardly act
are said to be hoodlums
allegedly loyal to an
opposition political party in
the state.
A source revealed that the late
PDP chairman was attacked in
his house in Ezzagu in Ishielu
LGA and shot several times by
his assailants.

Confirming the incident, the
state Police spokesman, ASP
Chris Anyanwu stated the
assailants before killing the
PDP chieftain asked for money
which was generously given
to them but still went ahead
to kill their victim.
In a related development, ASP
Anyanwu also confirmed that
there was an attack and
snatching of election materials
by some suspected hoodlums
in Umuezeoka, Ezza North
local government area of
Ebonyi State, Leadership
reports.
It was reported that the
suspected hoodlums double-
crossed the vehicle conveying
the INEC officials, beat up the
officials and carted away all
the election materials.
ASP Anyanwu said, “It is
unfortunate that people
would snatch election
materials in a bid to rig
election. Most regrettable is
the injury sustained by a
corps member in the
process.”
He stated that the command
had deployed men of the
command to the area to
recover the snatched
materials and ensure the
security of lives and property
in the area.
Mr. Anyanwu further noted
that the injured INEC officials
and corps member are
currently receiving treatment
in an undisclosed hospital in
the state.
