Career / What To Consider When Applying For Work In Another City by mrinfo(m): 9:01pm On Jul 21, 2011
As a result of insufficient jobs many job seekers apply for jobs advertised for places outside their current location without giving consideration to certain logistical issues.

If a job is advertised for residents of a particular state outside your present location here are questions and issues to consider before sending in your application to ensure that you aren’t just wasting your time;

Will the Company Post You to a Branch in the City Where You Live?

Before you apply find out if the company has a branch office in the city where you live and if they will be willing to post you to the branch in your city. This is important if you need to stay in your present location. If the company needs only staff for that particular state then there is no need wasting your time to apply unless you are ready to relocate.

Will the Company Help You Relocate
If you are willing to move to the new state when offered the job you have to also know if the company is ready to help you relocate to the new location. Most times when a company specifies that it needs workers in a particular location they do not bother themselves with taking up the logistics of relocating those successful workers. ,

Politics / Ondo Workers To Start Strike Action Tomorrow Over Minimum Wage by mrinfo(m): 5:43pm On Jun 22, 2011
Despite pleas from the Ondo State government to its public servants not to go on strike over the N18,000 minimum wage, the leadership of the workers has directed its members to stay off duty as from tomorrow.

The directive was sequel to expiration of the seven-day ultimatum earlier issued by the workers to the state government to implement the new package.

The public servants under the auspices of the Public Service Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) at a meeting held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure yesterday said the strike action was irreversible.

The workers who offered prayers at the meeting mandated the leadership to declare strike with effect from Thursday, June 23, 2011 if the government fails to heed to their demands,

Politics / Governors To Meet With Labour Over Minimum Wage by mrinfo(m): 5:37pm On Jun 22, 2011
The Nigeria Governors` Forum (NGF) is to engage Labour to find ways of implementing the new minimum wage.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, the forum said state governors recognised the amended Minimum Wage Act as a valid law but its implementation would pose a challenge to some of the states.

“On the issue of the new minimum wage, members recognised the amended Minimum Wage Act as a valid law. However, its implementation will pose considerable challenge to a number
of states.

“Consequently, members have resolved to engage labour in a holistic manner so that they can jointly agree to a common implementation framework,’’ the communique read by the NGF chairman, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, stated.

The communiqué said the governors decided to constitute a committee that would determine the financial implications of the new minimum wage and work out its implementation details.

The committee would also examine the “realities this law imposes on the states and its implication for the workers’’, it added.

It called for immediate removal of petroleum subsidy as well as review of the revenue allocation formula.

It also promised to sustain the achievements in the fight to eradicate polio through consistent and comprehensive campaign.

The communiqué condemned the spate of bombings in parts of the country, and urged the Federal Government to “ invest heavily in intelligence and technology’’,

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / 3 Players Chelsea Need To Buy To Perform At The Top Next Season by mrinfo(m): 12:12pm On May 20, 2011
At the backline they can't be faulted. Despite their woes the defense still conceded the least goals this season. Chelsea's problem is the lack of creative midfielder and flying natural wingers (especially right wing).

Alexis Sanchez will be a wonderful right winger for the blues.

If Drogba and Anelka goes as they should (Drogba has paid he dues but good things don't last forever) then Hulk of Porto Fc with 35 goals this season will complement with Torres effectively. With Kalou also going there will be chances for the wonder boy Daniel Sturridge to perform every now and then.

If Lampard plays at his best which is doubtful now Chelsea will be good in the middle especially with Benayoun to give cover. Still they may need to offload a few players like Essien and look to bring in Ramires to the middle and give the lad Mceachran more games. The id is surely going to surprise many with his control of the midfield if he plays enough games.

Then finally Chelsea can solve their right back problems by doing the only sensible thing; selling off flop Bosingwa and bringing in a reliable right back like Van der Wiel of Holland. For his loyalty Ferreira may be left to hang his boot at Chelsea if he will take a pay cut and be content with providing cover during injuries and playing in Carling cup matches.

With this changes they can once again resume their fearless and intimidating brand of football especially at Stamford Bridge. ,

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Sir Ferguson To Buy Three New Players by mrinfo(m): 11:46am On May 20, 2011
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he wants to make three summer signings to bolster his Manchester United squad.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a host of players over the last few months and are expected to bring in a replacement for retiring Edwin van der Sar, but the veteran boss did not give any names to reporters at United's end-of-season award ceremony.

"We have some ideas in mind," said Ferguson.

"Hopefully we can get them put in place. I am looking at maybe three signings which would boost our overall quality in our team.”,

Sports / Tevez Mad At Argentina Coach Over Omission In Argentina Squad For: by mrinfo(m): 11:36am On May 20, 2011
The 27-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring 20 goals to take the Citizens into the Champions League in 2011-12, and capped the season by lifting the FA Cup as captain last Saturday.

For the Albiceleste, however, it has been a different story. 'Carlitos' has not featured in Batista's squads since dropping out against Brazil in November, and was pointedly snubbed in a European tour taken by 'Checho' in which he met almost all the players expected to play a part in the Copa. The coach has denied that Tevez is out of the running, but the striker sees it somewhat differently.

"I have known for a while that there will be no Copa America for me. Seeing the coach go to all those countries to chat with players and not going through England makes it clear. On top of that he hasn't called, I called him and he didn't pick up. A lot of things make me think I will not be there," he told Ole,

Politics / House Of Reps Oppose New Cbn Cash Rule by mrinfo(m): 7:02pm On May 18, 2011
The House of Representatives yesterday at its plenary session rejected the proposal by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to peg deposit and withdrawal of money by bank customers at N150,000 and N500,000 for individuals and corporate bodies respectively.

Accordingly, the House mandated the Federal government to ask CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido to suspend further steps towards the implementation of the policy.

In their debate, most of the law-makers argued strongly that Nigeria was not ready for such policy because adequate enlightenment programme had not been carried out by the nation’s apex bank to educate the populace on its implications for economic development.

The objection to the policy was the outcome of the motion moved by Hon Jumoke Thomas-Okoya condemning the apex decision on the matter, stressing that the Nigerian economy is not ripe for such policy,

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Mourinho Banned For Five Matches By Uefa, To Pay Fine Also by mrinfo(m): 11:11pm On May 06, 2011
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho will 'defend himself to the end' after being handed a five-match ban by UEFA.

The former Chelsea boss has already served a one-match ban and another is suspended, meaning he will miss Madrid's first three European games next season.

Mourinho has also been fined £44,000 by UEFA's control and disciplinary body for his sending-off and comments after the first leg, while Madrid midfielder Pepe has been given a one-game ban, which he served in the second leg, for his red card.

Mourinho did not appear before the media on the eve of Madrid's Primera Division clash with Sevilla, with his assistant Aitor Karanka taking his place.

Karanka also undertook media duties before and after this week's semi-final second leg with Barca, where a 1-1 draw saw Madrid tumble out of Europe 3-1 on aggregate

Asked about Mourinho's reaction to his ban, Karanka said: 'When you receive a sanction like that you never receive it well and more so if you don't know the reason for the sanction. The club have already announced they are going to appeal and, on a personal level, Mourinho is going to defend himself and he will fight to the end.',
