Politics / Pre-match Analysis: Chelsea Fc Vs Manchester United by mrinfo(m): 4:54pm On Mar 01, 2011
Sir Alex Ferguson has never defeated a Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge in the Roman Abramovich era, and though it may not be the usual play-off for the title, the stakes are as high as ever
FACTS
Manchester United has had only four away wins this season but have a better and more excellent home record than their Stamford bridge counterparts. Man Utd has lost only once this season with Chelsea losing several.

Chelsea go into the match with just one point from their last two Barclays Premier League outings.

They have lost three home league matches under Ancelotti which is more than they did in the five full seasons prior to the manager's arrival.

Blues forward Fernando Torres has a decent record against United, scoring three goals in his last four Premier League fixtures against them.
anchester United's top goalscorer Berbatov has 19 goals. Chelsea are yet to have somebody with two digits goals with Drogba and Malouda at 9 each and Torres also bringing the 9 he has scored at Liverpool.

Based on recent form though the Red devils have not been fantastic they have grinded good results. They've had the commitment. Same cannot be said of Chelsea.

TEAM NEWS

Chelsea
Carlo Ancelotti has refused to confirm whether Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba or both will lead the Chelsea attack.

Ancelotti must decide whether to recall Drogba after the striker once again started on the bench in last week's Champions League win at FC Copenhagen.

David Luiz returns to the squad after being ineligible for the last two matches but Alex (knee) and Yossi Benayoun (Achilles) are still sidelined.

Manchester United
Wayne Rooney has been cleared to play in Manchester United's crucial Barclays Premier League showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Rooney has escaped further punishment after catching Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy in the head with his elbow at the DW Stadium at the weekend.

Ryan Giggs is battling to overcome a hamstring strain but Sir Alex Ferguson said on Saturday that none of his other walking wounded will be available for the Barclays Premier League leaders.

PREDICTIONS
Given Torres'performances against Manchester United and Vidic in particular I am betting on Torres scoring if at least given 60 minutes on the pitch.

Career / How To Get Ahead Quickly In Your Workplace: The Unbreakable Rules by mrinfo(m): 2:41pm On Mar 01, 2011
If you get a new job these are rules you have to observe to ensure that you start work smoothly and have the chances to advance as quickly as possible;

- Avoid Scandals; Nothing will pull you down or even terminate your job appointment as quickly as office scandals. Steer clear from financial, sexual and ethical scandals. When you are due for promotion these are the things that count in your record so it is important that your work history be free of any such scandals.

- Keep Your Ears and Eyes Open and Your Mouth Shut: This is a commonsense advice for any career person who especially is starting work in a new environment. Learn all you can about your new place of work and only speak carefully lest you hurt some big ego or the other.

- Be Friendly to as Many People as Possible but Don’t Join Office Cliques: Depending on the organization you are working with when you join any organization you may observe various cliques loyal to certain individuals in the office. You will be tempted to join cliques and begin office politicking as soon as possible but that will be a mistake on your side especially as a new person. Be friendly to all, sympathetic to all but never join in petty office politics. Your major goal shall be to impress your supervisors and department heads.

Politics / Re: One Serious Question For Tunde Bakare by mrinfo(m): 2:31pm On Mar 01, 2011
Don't be unreasonable. There is a guiding principle established by INEC for political parties. Still the question I asked wasn't answered rather you vomited vituperations and gabbage.

Was Bakare being partisan while hiding under the cloak of a non partisan social crusader cum minister of the gospel?

That's the question.
Politics / One Serious Question For Tunde Bakare by mrinfo(m): 1:23pm On Mar 01, 2011
I do not hate the man neither do I admire him but I hate it when certain ministers knowing that we are a very religious people lead us on by inciting religious sentiments and playing on our respect for God and men of God.

Tunde has a simple question to answer.

"While He carried out his Save Nigeria Group (SNG) activities Was he already a Card carrying member of a political party such as the CPC? Did he have biased political affiliations for example with Buhari and CPC while pretending to be an impartial, non-partisan minister of God and Social crusader for good governance?"

I ask this because you don't pick a Vice Presidential candidate from the blues. In fact nobody just wakes up and gets nominated to fly the flag of a party in any executive position by staying non-partisan.

This question begs an answer or answers, (if you like)
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Toothless Arsenal Still Trophyless by mrinfo(m): 1:22pm On Feb 28, 2011
Arsenal, a team that always plays too soft against teams with smaller reputations has once again literally threw away the chance to lift a trophy after seven years of drought.

Birmingham surprisingly gave the gunners a hot battle and were very good defensively especially with Ben Foster in one of the best form of his career keeping out many Arsenal shots.

In what was a tactical masterpiece Birmingham boss Alex Mcleish unleashed fresh and aggresive forward players Obafemi Martins and Jean Beausejoir.

It was however Obagoal who recently has been showing flashes of his old self, that gave the blues their first trophy in many years with a simple tap in goal after a heart breaking mistake from young Arsenal keeper Szczceny.

An arsenal fan friend of mine found the defeat too shocking to utter a word. Such defeats especially at the tail end of 90 minutes pains more than a usual defeat.

I am happy for Obafemi Martins who I predicted would score in the match. His career is surely and quietly getting back on track.

Pity that Jack Wilshere lost the chance to hold a cup. he has been very outstanding this season. I didn't enjoy watching him cry.

Well that's the cup competition in England for you. Surprises and shock results.

Arsenal must learn to bite and bite sharply at lower teams. They tried almost every thing against Birmingham but that proved not to be enough. Goalkeeping woes once again robbed them of a trophy.

With Barcelona lurking nearby can they shake off the disappointment of this loss and scale the Nou Camp hurdle?

I thought Real Mallorca would be up to it today and give Barcelona some tough time. Messi's goal opened things up and they conceded 2 more goals to lose at home. Despite his height he got the better of the defenders and got a fantastic goal.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Should Chelsea Have Let Sturridge Go? by mrinfo(m): 3:14am On Feb 27, 2011
I have always advocated that coaches should give promising youngsters the chance to prove themselves and grow. There is something about playing competitively for the first team that helps a smart young player mature quicker.

The Hernandez example at Manchester United comes to mind. Within the short period he has spent at Old Trafford he is quickly showing all the signs of becoming a deadly goal poacher. And that is made possible because he plays for the first team as often as is possible. He gains valuable experience that he wouldn't otherwise have had if he just played during trainings and reserve matches.

Sturridge is another young player I admire for his unending zeal and hunger to score (which some say has made him selfish during play). He shows that he has the raw talents but has had too little opportunity to show what he has and improve his skills.

Ancelotti from his time in Milan, always in love with the old veteran players had given Sturridge too little time in the first team even when it was clear that the older experienced strikers the club had were in serious loss of form and misfiring.

And so I woke up one day and I heard or rather read that Daniel Sturridge was on loan to Bolton Wanderers. I was unhappy. I feared for him. Wondered what kind of opportunities he would have in Bolton to improve his game and become a better all round striker (especially with his one-legged ability).

Three matches or so later I think I was wrong. Carlo Ancelotti may have been wrong to send him on loan to Bolton but as it is turning out this loan move may well be the turning point he needs in his young career. With three goals already his confidence is gradually rising as shown today against Newcastle.

I do hope he turns out to be a very good striker.

Without doubt one can see that Owen Coyle is quickly falling in love with his new loan striker and may want to bring him permanently to the Reebok stadium.

My advice to Chelsea and Carlito; Don't sell him, bring him back at season end and play him more often. Chelsea may have to start preparing for life after Drogba as his prolonged poor performance may finally be a sign that the big man is finished or about to be.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Is Anelka Now Worth 50 Million Pounds? by mrinfo(m): 12:54am On Feb 24, 2011
On Tuesday Nicolas Anelka stole the show in the match against Copenhagen scoring two well taken goals while his 50 million pounds strike partner generally ran around and missed some chances.

One good thing though I noticed from the match was that Torres improved a bit and it seems a strike partnership of Anelka and Torres may be more productive than putting Torres up front with Drogba who at the moment is playing like a lost man.

If Anelka continues playing as he did on Tuesday I'll be among the first to ask for a switch in transfer value where Anelka will have to bear the 50 million pounds tag.

Seriously still Torres may come good. It's hard to think of a 50 million investment going bad.

Politics / 5 Ways To Make People Like You At Your Place Of Work by mrinfo(m): 12:12am On Feb 24, 2011
It is somewhat an innate need for everybody to feel wanted and loved. There are many gains to getting people to like you. If you are career person it surely helps you get closer to your dream of promotion and fatter pay packets. For the business person it can translate to more business deals especially if you are in sales.

No one can get everybody to like him or her but at least here are tips to make more people like you in the course of your business dealings;

Smile More Often
: Until recently I never realized my face was scaring some people away from getting closer to me. A certain lady sometime ago, after laughing at a joke I had told, remarked that she never knew I was so easy going and funny to be with. I asked why. She returned that from a distance she mistrusted me at first on account of my stiff face and commented that she never saw me smiled. According to her she initially withdrew from getting close because of the observation she made about my countenance.

Now I didn’t frown on purpose. I almost unconsciously left my face squeezed and sad looking. Then I started taking more care with my countenance, frowning when I needed to and not every time. Smiling more will open doors more for you. Your staff will be more able to approach with sensitive problems which otherwise they may have hidden from you if you had that air of sadness and bitterness.

Render Help
: I always illustrated the power of helping with this short story. A certain young, brilliant man got a job as a junior faculty lecturer in a higher institution. The first day he went into the office of his Head of Department he met the woman toiling with a load of paper work. He offered to help but the woman politely refused (even though it was plain that she needed help with the work). He insisted and took away more than half of the files. A few hours later he was back with the completed work. Her relief was evident as she thanked him. The young man continued helping his Head of Department and soon got himself endeared to her.

A vacancy resulted when the department exams officer left. Being a position always reserved for experienced faculty officers a few faculty lecturers indicated interest. However the Head of Department recommended the young faculty lecturer for the position. Soon after he got confirmed the Examination Officer for the department. That was the beginning of his rise in the Academia. Give help when needed and especially when not expected. You will find you make friends easier that way.

Gain a Positive Reputation
: People you work with even though may not like your face will still respect you for something you know how to do very well. So it is vital that you gain a positive reputation in a very vital area of your work. When problems arise and solutions are needed in those areas you will be mentioned as a capable person to solve the problem. This enhances your overall image and endears you more importantly to your superiors who find that they derive huge benefits from your expertise.

Offer Greetings
: In an increasingly digitalized word people tend to forget the need for personal touch and greetings. Greeting is a mark of respect. When you give respect to others at work you most always get it back. Be the first to greet co-workers, associates and colleagues in the course of business. Simple courtesy doesn’t take much and doesn’t do any damage to your image.

Show Gratitude
: When a coworker helps you thank him. Don’t let good turns go unappreciated. A certain footballer in one of the top 7 clubs in the English Premier League used several weeks’ wages to buy plasma TVs for all the club officials, trainers and support staff in his club as his end of year thank you gift for the massive support they gave him.

He continues to play well for the club and is more loved by the people he works with everyday despite his stubborn tendencies. Most people will forgive your minor weaknesses if you get through to their hearts with periodic and genuine acts of gratitude. You need not buy expensive gifts like the footballer unless you can afford them over and over. The sincerity behind the gratitude is what matters.

Politics / 4 Twitter Job Hunting Tips by mrinfo(m): 11:48pm On Feb 19, 2011
So you’re a student in a college and you’ve picked up Twitter like everybody else in this social networking trend. However, Twitter is much different than Facebook or even LinkedIn. It’s more of a barbecue-type setting between professionals. Look, I didn’t believe it either, that was until I secured a very desirable internship in my field last summer because of Twitter. So how do you use Twitter to progress professionally? Simple, begin with these four basic steps, and expand accordingly.

1.) Start searching for and following twitter accounts that post internships and jobs. Both in your desired field, and general ones as well. Internship Queen has a ton of internships she posts, along with tips for finding ones.

2.) Search for and follow twitter accounts by respected members of that field, as well as companies, and business groups. For example, if you’re interested in PR work follow local PRSSA groups, follow PRSAJobCenter, follow people you know that are PR Gurus.

3.) Clean up your twitter, no more “Going to ____ bar tonight, PARTY!”. Make it professional. Start posting interesting articles that you find online, and ADD YOUR OWN INSIGHT TO THEM. Retweet interesting posts the professionals you follow, post or add your own insight to them. The main issue of importance here is to INTERACT on a PROFESSIONAL LEVEL with these people you now follow. Remember, these people are full of connections, and that is what Twitter is about! Try to make actual connections with these people.

4.) Keep your eye out for job and internship posts. And, don’t be afraid to ask a professional (through direct messages) for suggestions on how to get in touch with an industry/company you’re interested in. Most people want to help others, if you genuinely ask for help, someone will answer the call.

Hope this helps, there really isn’t much too it and it is that simple. It’s going to take time and effort, but it may be worth it in the long run. Remember, Twitter is an extension of yourself, and it can be used for professional benefit and to meet people while making connections that would otherwise be impossible.

Politics / Why Do Job Seekers Falsify Their Age? by mrinfo(m): 9:00pm On Feb 19, 2011
ARE you saying you started secondary school at the age of five? Please take your papers and leave." The human resources director stared at the interviewee in disbelief. The setting was the Human Resources Department of a manufacturing company. The young man being addressed tried to explain to the interviewer, but could not offer any plausible reason. He was one of several applicants short-listed for interview after a written test.

Many employers probably believe that the rules for finding and keeping top performers have changed. Corporate organisations prefer a certain age bracket for jobs hitherto reserved for more mature men and women. This explains the age specification that comes with most vacancy advertisement.

The trend has led to falsification of age, as desperate job seekers doctor their dates of birth in order to meet firms’ employment requirement.

Alhaja Bola Akingbade, an Assistant Director of Public Relations, Office of the Surveyor-General, Lagos State, said the practice has been reduced to the barest minimum because every data in the civil service is now computerised.

Alhaja Akingbade recalled that in those days, workers in the public service falsified information about their age to elongate their length of service,

Politics / Labour Call Off Strike Action, Agree With Union Bank by mrinfo(m): 8:16pm On Feb 19, 2011
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called off picketing of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and directed its members to vacate the premises of the bank nationwide.

The order followed an agreement reached, early Friday, under the intervention of Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu.

The NLC, led by its president, Comrade Abdulwahed Omar and the bank management, led by the Group Managing Director, Mrs. Funke Osibodu, agreed on all the issues in contention at a meeting called by the minister.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Omar said having reached a resolution over the issue between the union and the bank which brought about the current impasse, the NLC agreed to suspend the picketing being carried out by workers against the bank.

“We believe that the two parties have also agreed to mutually work and cooperate in order to ensure permanent peace and stability in the industry and with this, we believe that industrial harmony will be restored.

“We must commend the effort of the Minister of Labour and the entire ministry in bringing about this amicable resolution. On our part, we look forward to a very cordial working relationship with the management of Union Bank towards ensuring that all the issues that normally arise between management or employer and employee would be resolved through roundtable discussion, henceforth,” he said.
