Google has finally launched the long-awaited “Pages” for Google+ today, it will let you connect with people, places and things.

Although this feature already on facebook but with Direct Connect feature, it could be more beneficial to businesses and brands than Facebook pages.

Here’s Google official Statement about the launch:

In life we connect with all kinds of people, places and things. There’s friends and family, of course, but there’s also the sports teams we root for, the coffee shops we’re loyal to, and the TV shows we can’t stop watching (to name a few).

So far Google+ has focused on connecting people with other people. But we want to make sure you can build relationships with all the things you care about—from local businesses to global brands—so today we’re rolling out Google+ Pages worldwide,

Business / Why You Should Never Start A Business In The Wrong Environment by mrinfo(m): 11:19am On Nov 09, 2011
One of the first principle of business every enterpreneur is taught about setting up a business is finding a good location. But aside other factors/principles, good location is not enough to make your business succeed. You also need the right environment (Environment here I mean your external environment, your community or your surrounding).

You can have a good location, good human resources, best of ideas, good finance, best strategies, wonderful business plan etc in the wrong environment. The effect is your business remain flat with no promising future.

What is a wrong environment? I will explain with an illustration. Assuming you have a block moulding industry where people’s tradition make them prefer building with bricks. Another example is having a mobile/web development company where people don’t value/know the potential or have the need for web or mobile apps.

If you are in any environment and more than 50% of your customers comes,

Business / 4 Things To Note Before Starting That Business by mrinfo(m): 11:27am On Nov 07, 2011
The vast human capital cannot be ignored and Nigeria is arguably the largest economy in Africa.

Still doing business in Nigeria can be tough and frustrating especially to anyone who had not taken the time to study the country’s peculiar business terrain with its unique challenges.

If you are a Nigerian living abroad and intending to come back home to set up a business or are living in the country with the aim to tap into Africa’s largest economy here are some bits of advice that you will find useful and save you from unnecessary hassles and difficulties.

The Power Challenge
:
One of the greatest single problems businesses face in Africa’s most country is steady electricity supply. To do business you will have to factor in sizeable expenses on alternative source of power. This will invariably affect your ability to price your goods and services effectively. The unsteady nature of electricity in the country is the single most important factor that affects prices of goods and services.

Have a plan in mind to overcome the power challenge before you venture into committing money to any business. You’ll be better off if the business is such that it requires low energy consumption. Otherwise you may need reliable power generators or (if you can afford it) solar energy source to run your business hitch free.

Though the government has made steady power supply one of its main target, according to the country’s Minister for Power and Energy it may take up to 2014 for Nigeria to realize enough megawatts of power to serve its need and non-interrupted supply. Before then you will survive the way most businesses have been surviving and that is by having your own alternative power source.

Multiple Taxation
:
As is always the problem with developing countries many times taxes are not streamlined and depending on how big your business is you may end up paying multiple taxes to various government agencies at both federal and state levels,

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lets Solve This Unemployment Problem: There Are Jobs Everyhere In Nigeria by mrinfo(m): 5:01am On Oct 16, 2011
@poster, good post. This is what we have been advocating for sometime now. Nigeria's graduates rarely take their time in school to build themselves and bond with like minds with a view to starting a business concept together. The selfish 'all man for himself' mentality is the reason why over 95% of graduates are seeking for jobs when they have it in them to start something big.

Still we continue to provide useful info we hope will spur a few to start something. At nairabrains.com, it Think it, Learn it, Do it
