Sports / President Calms Eagles Bonus Crisis by MrMac10(m): 6:46pm On Jun 27, 2014
Nigeria president Goodluck Jonathan on Friday intervened to end the Super Eagles bonus disagreement.

Join us on Facebook and Twitter for more interaction over this.

Jonathan called into the team camp and personally assured them that their money would be paid, with Sports Minister Tamuno Danagogo detailed to fly into Brazil with the payment.

On Thursday the players boycotted training, demanding payment of part of their agreed appearance fee for the tournament.

But this website understands that the president has personally spoken to the players.

"The President called them this morning to assure them that the sports minister is coming in with their money," a top NFF official told KickOffNigeria.com on Friday.

Sports / Re: Open Letter To Nairaland Guys On Sports Section by MrMac10(m): 10:55pm On Jan 10, 2014
safarigirl: Dear NL guys,

Una good afternoon. I hope say una don rest wella after yesterday.

I'm writing this letter to address all those that have been calling me a bytch since god knows when.

First off, if I offended anybody, apologies (except leggo and bettermike). I tend to take things personaly, so I can blow off my top sometimes.

Secondly, I don't know about things on this site, but on every other site, the word bytch is not used loosely. Anyone who follows me here knows that I have never and will never tolerate the use of that term 'bytch' on me or any other female.

The past three days, I have been insulted severely for supporting Mikel Obi (aggressively, yes, but that's how people support someone or something they feel strongly about), I'm not the only Mikel supporter here, I would name others, but you know them...I'm not even the only one to have thrown insults.

On that thread on women not knowing about sports, I didn't throw the first jab- or any jab at all, I took it lightly until leggo came and started calling me names, you guys skipped that part and attacked me, perhaps in solidarity.

The fact that I have been replying people with humour and sarcasm doesn't mean I can't throw cheap insults because if I start, I will be banned till 2028.

I ask all those attacking me to refrain from doing so as of now, I know some of you don't like that a female is challenging you on your turf, but you can sling the cheap insults all you want and I'll still be in your faces telling you as it is (or as I want it to be)

If you guys cannot call leggo and crew to order like you have happily done to me, then you're nothing but biased hypocrites. I have never called any guy a b*stard, so I won't tolerate being called a bytch in any way.

Thank you for reading, and keep an open mind.

Sincerely,
Safari.

Sports / Re: Nigerian Fans Betrayed Mikel? by MrMac10(m): 10:52pm On Jan 10, 2014
PurpleHouse: Looking at the events that unfold during the debate for the AFOTY, i begin to wonder why We, Nigerians let one of us down. I realized why we've been backward for so long as a Nation: We Hate Ourselves!
The Award has come and gone, but the pain and feelings remains, the pain to see my fellow brethren turn their back on a man who has recently turned a new leaf, giving his All to Nigeria whenever he was wearing the National Colours! They called him Average. Mediocre. Useless. Sidepass/Backpass and lots of funny names.
But my question is this: Is this not the same Mikel many of you promised to give your mother to, as a wife after the Afcon?
Is this not the same Mikel that you couldn't stop singing his praise after the Afcon and Confedrations Cup in Brazil?
Is this not the same Mikel ALL of you called the Midfield General?
How then did he become so average all of a sudden?

I visit lots of forums of different Nations online, but only in Nigeria did i see how unpatriotic people could be to a fellow brother. No other country will talk down their Best Player currently, just so they could favour another, from a Rival Nation!

Mikel was Outstanding the past Year in Review, won two Trophies, outshined Yaya and co during the Afcon. What else do you all want? I got so angry this period, angry not with Caf anymore, but with my Clueless Empty Headed Fake Naija Fans. One moment a player is your Best, then the next day he's Average.
Throughout today, on facebook, sportsNews, online medias, everyone's been asking what Criteria Caf used to award the POTY to Yaya. Scoring goals? What then Happens to Afcon?
Should i call it betrayal?
Or backstabing? Or lack of patriotism?
Many Nigerians are just Fakes!
The World Cup i coming up, and i pray Mikel stays fit. Oooooh, thats when you'll realize how Special and important Mikel is in that team. We play cluelessly without him, (and recently Victor Moses).
I will be here, waiting to hear from you guys during our friendlies and the World Cup Proper. I'll be waiting for the Next Name you have for Mikel.
Nairaland!!!!! I Hail

shut the Bleep up stop being stupidly patriotic yaya you're had a better season than Mikel u wan use afcon of only 6 matches compare to a season of 38 games men u crazy
