This is to inform all JAMB candidates, who would want to effect a change in either of any of their Courses or Institutions, that this service and procedure ends on 1st May, 2015. We're not sure if there will be any extension in the date but you should do well to ensure you effect your changes before the above stated date. Please avoid trying to play smart by waiting to see if your current school of choice would release cut-off, before taking a decision to make your changes. Based on history, schools will not release their post-UTME cut-off or procedures until the change of course is over, no matter the extension. Do your research based on previous post-UTME cut-offs and information and effect your changes immediately. Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. Do yours Now!!!! source: http://myschool.com.ng/school/news/35763/closing-date-of-jamb-change-of-course-institution-for-2015.html cc: fynestboi lalasticlala |

Are you tired of writing post UTME every year? Without success? It is very important to note that passing JAMB does not guarantee automatic admission into any Nigerian university, rather it's only a ticket that qualifies candidates. It is important to know that most students who passed JAMB examination sometimes, ends up not passing their post UTME. One can score 280 in JAMB and end up scoring 32 or even 20 in post UTME. Below are some reasons why people fail post UTME. 1. FEAR:fear is one of the greatest killer for someone who wants to pass PUTME exam, do not be intimidated by the number of people you see writing the same course with you, someone who fear has already been defeated and has already fail 80% of his or her Post UTME. Encourage and give hope to yourself, if you are able to remove fear in you, then you are already on the road to success. 2. FAILURE TO OBEY INSTRUCTIONS: Instructions in the examination hall is an examination itself. Failure to obey the instruction is failure to pass the examination. Simple! Do exactly what you are told to do and avoid doing what you are not told to do. 3. TOO MUCH CONFIDENT:Overconfidence makes some students to relax into reading. Being too much confident will harm you. This type of students only realizes that they are no body only when the result is out. 4. SHADING WITH 2B INSTEAD OF HB PENCIL: the OMR machine that will make the answer sheets recognizes HB pencil. So using 2B pencil may confuse the machine either to score you wrongly or discard your answersThese is for PPT mode of testing 5. TIME MANAGEMENT : Time is part of the examination, they test your ability to work with time. Manage the little time given to you, don't waste much time on questions you don't know go forward and complete all the ones you know and then come back to the unknown questions if there is still time. 6.MALPRACTICE: If you bring anything like expo into the exam hall, this can lead to your failure. Expo or external brain cannot help you especially in the aptitude test like Post UTME instead your God given brain. If you are caught, your paper will be squeezed immediately. source: http://myschool.com.ng/school/news/36019/reasons-why-people-fail-post-utme.html cc fynestboi lalasticlala |

Job search could be a great challenge for many fresh graduates and a nightmare to some others. However, if you take strategic steps, you could be on your way to landing your first job sooner than you think. Here are 10 strategic job search tips that will give you an edge and increase your chances of getting a job sooner than you think. 1. Change Your Attitude: Don’t start your job search with the mindset that there are no jobs. There are jobs out there. Your attitude usually matters and influences the outcome of your pursuit. The statistics of unemployment rate may have made you to believe that there are no jobs. However, many companies are still on the lookout for the right candidates. The first tip is to have the mindset that there is still job out there for the right candidates. What you should think of is “how can I be the right candidate”? 2. Start Your Job Hunting Early: Many graduates think that the search for a job begins after they graduate. I think this is a wrong approach. You should be able to be clear on the kind of jobs you want, gather facts about companies you would like to work for, what is required to work for such companies etc. right before you graduate. Success in job search is ultimately based on the level of information you have. The more informed you are the better your chances. 3. Give Attention To Your Resume/CV and Cover Letter: One thing I would like to make you understand here is that there is nothing like a perfect CV. But your Resume/CV should be impressive. The major purpose of a Resume/CV is to get you an interview appointment. However, you need to bear the following in mind; -Your CV should be relevant to the job you are applying for. Don’t use one CV for all your job applications. Tailor-make your CV to be specific to each job you are applying for. -Make it clear, concise and honest. -Provide key information like personal details, including name, address, phone number, and email address. However, information like age, Political, Gender, Or Religious preferences are not needed unless otherwise specified as a requirement. -Highlight your skills/strengths, achievements and relevant experiences. -Avoid errors. Ask a friend to go through it. We usually don’t see our own errors. A cover letter is a letter sent with your CV that basically provides information on why you are qualified for the job you are applying for and the contributions you can make if employed. For comprehensive guide on writing a CV/Resume and Cover letter, click on these links CV/Resume Guide and Cover Letter Guide 4. Don’t Be Bias: You’re on the verge of starting a career; don’t have your eyes only on big companies yet. Consider options in government and nonprofit establishments, real estate, housing, transportation etc. Study shows that there are a good number of graduate vacancies in small and medium companies. These small and medium scale companies will serve as a foundation for you to build your career because they are usually demanding. They should serve as an opportunity to learn professional and work ethics as well as the valuable experience you need to climb the ladder of your chosen career. 5. Build Networks and Leverage Your Connections: In the job market it is not only about what you know but also about who you know. I know many who got employed just because they have such connections. Attend lectures, seminars, forums where you are likely get in touch with successful career men and women in your field of interest. Join Professional associations. Your hard work alone could have been all you needed to get out of school successfully but in the real world connections are as important as hard work. 6. Take Advantage of The Internet: The Internet is particularly useful today when it comes to job search. The internet abounds with job websites. These job sites offer job listings (information on available jobs), networking opportunities, discussion groups, articles/newsletters and job- search tips. These job sites also provide opportunity for you to submit your CV and help get it across to potential employers. Companies now have websites. You can follow them via their websites and social media links to have an idea of what they do. Adverts on available job openings are also placed on company’s websites and social media pages. source: http://successflame.com/career/10-strategic-job-search-tips-for-every-fresh-graduate/ |
There are many factors that can contribute to a student not graduating with good grade. Many of these factors may be beyond the control of the student. However, from observation many students fail to graduate with good grades for reasons which can be traced directly to them. They knowingly or unknowingly plotted their own failure. Here are 5 common ways many students jeopardize their chances of graduating with good grades; Poor Start: It is said that the beginning of a thing matters. This is true if you aim to graduate with good grades. It has been observed that students who end up graduating with good grades are the ones that started putting the needed effort right from their first year. Many think that they have plenty of time, so they use their first year to have “fun” only to realize how difficult it is to make up for what has been lost already. Lack of Interest:For one reason or the other many students find themselves admitted to study a particular course they have no interest to study. Many of such students usually develop apathy for academic activities. Some others take their academics with levity hoping they will change into a more preferable course one later (which may never happen). Only to wish they have been more serious later. Even if the course wasn’t what you opted for, take time to find out what the course is all about and its prospects. You never can tell, you may end up loving it more than your preferred course. There are some others who have no interest whatsoever in academics. They are in school against their own will. A student once told me, “I’m here just because my parents want me to be here.” You can hardly put a good amount of effort needed to succeed in something you are not interested in. Misplaced Priorities/Poor Time Management: One major cause of failure is broken or diverted focus. You are in school to study and learn. That means you shouldn’t focus on something else at the expense of the main reason you are in school. I am not saying you shouldn’t take out time to socialize, have fun, etc. but don’t indulge in these things at the expense of your study. In higher institutions there are many things that will likely get you distracted. Hence, the need for you to get your priorities right, set relevant goals and eliminate as much distraction as possible in order to remain focused on your main objective. Negative Influence: In campus, you are going to meet the good, the bad and the ugly. Therefore who you choose or allow to choose you as a friend will likely influence you either positively or negatively. Beware of “friends” who will discourage you from attending lectures and studying. Poor Study Habits:Since the main objective you are in school is to study and learn, your success will depend on your study habits/pattern. Studying hard is not enough, you also need to study smart. An effective study habit considers what to study, when to study and how to study. source: http://myschool.com.ng/school/news/35933/why-students-fail-to-graduate-with-good-grades.html |
